Senior Hamas Leader: Interim Palestinian Government Not Able to Work on Peace with Israel

“Mahmoud Zahar, a senior Hamas leader who participated in the reconciliation talks between Fatah and Hamas, said on Wednesday that the interim Palestinian government would not be able to work on peace negotiations with Israel.

The rival Palestinian movements Fatah and Hamas came to a historic agreement on Wednesday, when they announced a decision to reconcile and form an interim government ahead of elections, after a four-year feud.     Da 9:27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

    Reading and studying Dan 9:27 I wonder is we have not had this wrong when we say a Peace Treaty between the Arabs with the A/C and the Jews. The covenant is with MANY my question is is does the MANY included the Jew?? It would almost seem not the way it is worded –

    At the link below Hamas and Fatah are making treaty negotiations under way with “all of the nationalist and Islamic forces” surrounding Israel in order to carry out a joint, central action on the day of May 15th Israels birthday and it is in its 63rd year leaving 7 more years to it 70th birthday. Maybe this Peace Treaty is amongst the Arabs and the surounding nations of Israel only

    I doubt Dan 9:27 is any reference to a peace treaty at all. There will be no peace treaty. They say peace, but there is no peace. They say that Islam is a religion of peace, but by peace many are destroyed. Even Iran says their nuclear ambitions are for peaceful purposes, but there is no peace. In the mind of the Islamist the only time there will ever be peace is when Israel is wiped off the map and the world submits to Islam …

    As for the covenant that was confirmed with many, this was already done with the sacrifice of Christ and His shed blood when He was crucified in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week:

    Gal 3:17, “And this I say, [that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.”

    Matt 26:28, “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

    Heb 8:6-8, “… he [Christ] is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.”

    Heb 10:1-10, “For the law … can never with these same sacrifices … make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered?… For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come — In the volume of the book it is written of Me — To do Your will, O God.'” … then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all].“

    Thought I would chime in, though I don’t have anything different to say. Willard, I see it exactly as ICA put it–that Dan 9:27 verse has been taken out of its context, literally, when it had been talking about the timing of the coming of Messiah to install the new covenant, we now insert thousands of years and say it has to do with the end times. The only possible way to insert time would be as we’ve discussed in the past, and that is half way through the week when Messiah is cut off, and what remains is a 3.5 year period. But I have not been convinced of that meaning yet. I see it as the culmination of the ministry of Jesus to the Jews, when after 3.5 years the gospel goes out into “Samaria and the uttermost parts…”, probably at the stoning of Stephen, when “national” Israel formally rejects the Messiah’s gift.

    The modern day beast will continue to chew up Christians, Jews and many other unfortunate souls in its meat grinder as it gains in power and proximity to Jerusalem.
