Solar Activity Heats Up

As 2011 unfolds, sunspots have returned and they are crackling with activity. On February 15th and again on March 9th, Earth orbiting satellites detected a pair of “X-class” solar flares–the most powerful kind of x-ray flare. The last such eruption occurred back in December 2006.

Another eruption on March 7th hurled a billion-ton cloud of plasma away from the sun at five million mph (2200 km/s). The rapidly expanding cloud wasn’t aimed directly at Earth, but it did deliver a glancing blow to our planet’s magnetic field. The off-center impact on March 10th was enough to send Northern Lights spilling over the Canadian border into US states such as Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan.”  Read more.

‘Million of Martyrs are Marching to Jerusalem’ and ‘Here We Come’: Protesters in Egypt Call for Jewish Genocide

By Roee Nahmias – “Hundreds of Egyptians protested Thursday evening in front of the Israeli consulate in the coastal city of Alexandria. Egyptian security forces were deployed in the area and blocked entry into the consulate building.

The protesters waved Palestinian flags and called to expel the Israeli ambassador and open the Rafah crossing at the border with the Gaza Strip.

Demonstrators held signs reading ‘Gaza, my only love’, ‘Million of martyrs are marching to Jerusalem’ and ‘Here we come’ – written in Hebrew.

The crowds also called to launch a ‘third intifada’ on May 15, as initially stated on the popular Facebook page, which stirred controversy in Israel.”  Read more.

Pro-Palestinian Activist from Italy Tortured and Murdered … by Palestinians

“Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni, who worked for Palestinian freedom and rights, was kidnapped in Gaza sometime in the last 24 to 48 hours.

He was then terrorized and beaten, as could be seen from a videotape showing him blindfolded. The videotape, which had an Islamist song soundtrack and an Arabic-language commentary scrolling beside Vittorio’s image, showed a forearm reaching over and roughly grabbing Vittorio’s hair to pull his head up for better display to the camera. Red contusions and blood were visible above and below his right eye. His eyes were tightly covered with strips of black adhesive tape pressing tightly across his face and around his head.”  Read more.

Earthquakes Cut Power in New Zealand, Rattle Windows in Australia

“BRISBANE, Australia – Moderate earthquakes rattled parts of Australia and New Zealand on Saturday, including the devastated city of Christchurch where power was cut to thousands of homes, officials said.

No major damage was reported from either quake, and no tsunami warning was issued.

The magnitude-5.2 quake that struck Christchurch was far less powerful than one that levelled office blocks and homes in the New Zealand city on Feb. 22, killing at least 169 people and devastating the downtown area.”  Read more.

At Least 17 Dead as Severe Storms Hit Deep South

“Vicious storms smacked the Deep South and toppled trees like dominoes as tornadoes howled through towns. Seven deaths were reported Friday in Alabama, Fox News has learned, including a man killed when the storm tossed a mobile home nearly a quarter of a mile across a state highway.

Combined with earlier reported fatalities in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi, the confirmed death toll had risen to 17 by early Saturday — the deadliest storm of the season so far.”  Read more.

Turkey in Talks to Open Taliban Office in Istanbul

Since when has ‘diplomacy’ ever convinced an Islamic terrorist entity hell-bent on destroying Western civilization , implementing strict Sharia law, and waging war against non-Muslims, to pick up flowers and sing Kumbaya?

“ANKARA – Turkey is working to open a political office for the Taliban in Istanbul, a close aide to Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan was quoted as saying on Friday, the first explicit comments on the plan…

Turkey, which has hosted talks aimed at building trust between Pakistan and Afghanistan, has said before that it is open to the establishment of a diplomatic presence for the Taliban to help with talks to end the war in Afghanistan.

A Pakistani official, speaking during a visit by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to Ankara on Thursday, told Reuters Pakistan would back such a plan…

But Abdullah Abdullah, a former foreign minister who came second behind Hamid Karzai in Afghan presidential elections in 2009, told Hurriyet that opening an office for the Taliban would help ‘legalize a terrorist organization’.”  Read more.

Muslim Group in Malaysia Declares Jihad Against Christians Who … Disagree With Them

By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani – “KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 — An umbrella coalition of Muslim groups held a protest today and declared bloodshed against ‘extremist’ Christians that insult and ridicule the position of Islam in the country.

The Muslim Organisations in Defence of Islam (Pembela), comprising 20 groups, protested after Friday prayers at the National Mosque against Putrajaya’s release of Malay-language bibles and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s promise to never impound the Alkitab again.

A group of 30 men dressed in white shirts and skullcaps gathered at the main entrance of the mosque after prayers with placards saying ‘Allah is great! We Ansarullah (helpers of Allah) are watching you!'”  Read more.

Egyptians Alarmed Over Rise in Influence of Islamists in Post-Mubarak Era

By ABEER TAYEL – “Acts of hard-line vigilantism committed recently in Egypt are fuelling debate and concerns over the role Islamists could play after the departure of President Hosni Mubarak, who suppressed Islamist groups which he saw as a threat to his rule, analysts said.

Salafis were tolerated as a religious group under the former president as a counterweight his top foe, the Muslim Brotherhood group. But they appear to be playing a more political role in the country after the January 25 revolution.

That has alarmed many of the secular and liberal forces in Egypt because of the group’s extremist discourse and imposition of sharia (Islamic law.)”  Read more.

Swarm Of Quakes In Nevada Have Experts Concerned

By Brooke Boone – “Nevada Seismologists are keeping a close eye on an area southwest of Hawthorne, Nevada where hundreds of earthquakes have been detected since Sunday.

‘It’s a little bit concerning in a sense.. The largest earthquakes in these sequences are pretty large in size.’ Graham Kent is Director of Nevada Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada Reno. He says there have been hundreds of earthquakes southwest of Hawthorne over the past few days. The largest– recorded at a 4.4 in size.

‘These are the biggest in a sequence we’ve seen at least in the last couple of years.’ Kent says unlike the 2008 quakes in Somersett that damaged so many homes, these earthquakes are fortunately not underneath a community.

Size is not the only reason Kent says they are watching the swarm of quakes closely. The location of these quakes is on top of a fault that has until now remained unknown or has not been active. Kent then made an eerie comparison, ‘Whats really interesting about most of these earthquakes we’ve experienced. Short of the Chilean and Japanese; Haiti, Baha, even Christchurch.. Were on unknown faults.'”  Read more.

‘It Felt Like a Bomb’: Arkansas, Oklahoma Storms Kill at Least 9

“TUSHKA, Okla. — Violent storms ripped across Oklahoma and Arkansas overnight, killing nine people including three children, and cutting a path of destruction through Arkansas’s largest city of Little Rock.

Tornadoes killed two people in Oklahoma, both in the small southeastern town of Tushka where the only school was leveled, authorities said.

In Arkansas, seven people were killed as the storms hit early on Friday morning.

A six-year-old boy was crushed to death by a tree in the town of Bald Knob.

A father and an 18-month-old girl died in Garland County when a tree struck by lightning fell on their home…”  Read more.
