Series of Landslides, Volcanic Eruptions and Tremors Shake Sicily
“(AGI) Palermo – There has been a concerted series of explosions and landslides on Stromboli. Over the last 24 hours, monitors at the Vesuvian Observatory have picked up fifteen seismic signals associated with mild landslide events, all along the Sciara del Fuoco (Stream of Fire). Most of these events were follow-ons to the explosions and can therefore be attributed to rolling debris. The tremor was clearly on a diminishing scale, however.” Source.
Exit Visa: Iraqi Christians Look for Safe Haven
By Ruth Moon – “The governments of the Netherlands, Great Britain, and other European countries have refused asylum to many Iraqis, including thousands of individual Christians. But this year, evangelical leaders and human rights groups are pushing to resettle Christian refugees in groups to help them maintain their church identity.
The stream of Christian refugees from Iraq and surrounding countries has increased in recent years, though exact numbers do not exist because refugees are not counted by religious affiliation, said Grégor Puppinck, director of the European Center for Law and Justice, the European arm of the American Center for Law and Justice.” Read more.

Islamists in Egypt Seek Change Through Politics
By Jeffrey Fleishman, Los Angeles Times – “… ‘We were young and we took extreme measures. But now we’re old men and our time in prison has made us wiser,’ he said. “Al Qaeda and Islamic militancy have lost their glamour. Look at what has happened. The young saw that violence didn’t bring change to Egypt, a peaceful revolution did.”
Ibrahim is one of an increasing number of ultraconservative and moderate Islamists seeking a political voice in a new Egypt. Since the downfall in February of President Hosni Mubarak, who for three decades kept religion far from the center of power, the Islamist message is unshackled. The Muslim Brotherhood, the largest opposition party, expects a strong showing in September’s parliamentary elections.” Read more.
Radioactive Water Million of Times Over Legal Limit Pouring Into Pacific
“Tokyo (CNN) — Another attempt by Japanese officials to stop the leaking of highly radioactive water from a nuclear reactor into the ocean failed Tuesday, the country’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said.
A silica-based polymer dubbed ‘liquid glass’ was pumped into the leaking shaft from below at reactor No. 2 of Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Workers hoped that the substance would harden and fill gaps beneath the concrete that was poured into the shaft in a previous unsuccessful attempt, but the material did not set as hoped, NISA reported.
It was the latest of a series of setbacks Japanese authorities faced Tuesday, with the detection of radiation in a fish and news that water gushing from the nuclear plant into the Pacific had radiation levels more than millions of times above the regulatory limit.” Read more.
Sea Turtle Deaths Continue to Climb in the Gulf
By Rocky Kistner – “Sea turtles continue to wash ashore along the Gulf, forcing the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to scramble and figure out what is causing the spike. Last week, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Huffington Post were first to publish blogs about the sea turtle deaths in Mississippi…
Like the dolphin strandings this year, it’s likely that many more turtles have died and will never be found. A recent study of dolphin deaths showed the true number of mortalities is probably 50 times what is recovered. As of Friday, NOAA says recent deaths of sea turtles, all of which are included on the Endangered Species list, include 6 in Alabama, 10 in Louisiana, and 47 in Mississippi.” Read more.
Ivory Coast Islamists Accused of Massacering 1,000 Christians
News coming out of the Ivory Coast over the past 48 hours is painting a bleak picture involving a thousand civilians hacked to death with machetes by forces loyal to Muslim leader Alassane Ouattara:
U.S. pushing Muslim to replace Christian – WND – “The Ivory Coast is facing the forced Islamist takeover of its government, a move being pushed by the United States and United Nations, whose leaders reportedly are ignoring the nation’s own procedures that determined Laurent Gbagbo, a Christian, legitimately was re-elected president, according to a report from Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin…
The constitutional council had determined that there was sufficient evidence of vote-rigging in the northern part of the country controlled by Islamists to make the final determination that Gbagbo, the incumbent president, had won the hotly contested election last November.”
The next Rwanda? ‘In all districts of Abidjan there is gunfire’ – Herald Scotland – “A massacre in a Roman Catholic mission compound in the heart of the Ivory Coast’s cocoa-producing region could come to be seen as a crucial moment in the West African state’s escalating civil war… Early reports suggested that more than 800 people, largely from the Gbagbo-supporting Gueré tribe, were killed in a single day at the sprawling Salesian Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus mission in Duekoue, 300 miles west of Abidjan towards the Liberian border. The attackers seem to have been largely soldiers descended from Burkina Faso immigrant Muslim families loyal to Ouattara.”
Ivory Coast: aid workers find 1,000 bodies in Duekoue – UK Telegraph – “Charity workers who reached Duekoue said it appeared the killings had taken place in a single day, shortly after the town fell to troops loyal to Alassane Ouattara, the man internationally-recognised as having won last year’s presidential election.”

Ahmadinejad: Arab World Conflicts Will Lead to Collapse of Zionist Regime

‘The latest conflicts will leave no chance for the Zionist regime [Israel] to survive as all the involved countries are against the occupation of Palestine,’ Ahmadinejad said.
He added that the Arab states should be careful not to rely on the United States and its allies, ‘as their ultimate aim is to save’ Israel.
Very soon a new Middle East without Israel and the U.S. would emerge …” Read more.
