Canada: Islamic Teacher Plays The Victim Card, Says Muslims Are Now Being Persecuted Like Jews Before The Holocaust

I think this Islamic ‘teacher’ could learn a thing or two if he stuck with facts, learned a bit of history, and — for perhaps the first time in his life — employed a bit of common sense.  Maybe Ezra Levant and Michael Coren from the Sun News Network could give this Imam a few pointers on how civilized, sensible people put brain cells to good use …

By MARK DUNN – “OTTAWA – A Calgary-based Imam says Muslims are being attacked in the same way Jews were before Hitler ordered their extermination.

Syed Soharwardy, founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, says a regulation change requiring Muslim women to remove their niqabs and burkas when swearing the oath to become a Canadian amounts to Muslim bashing.

From intimidating and bad-mouthing the Muslim faith and belittling the Koran and Muslim beliefs, he drew a parallel with the treatment of Jews in Germany.

‘Muslims are going through that situation right now that the Jews faced before the Holocaust,’ Soharwardy told CFCN TV in Alberta.

‘That was going on in Germany before the Holocaust, same thing is happening now about Muslims. So this is absolutely an alarming situation.’

A Queen’s University expert on constitutional law specializing in women’s rights says Kenney is conforming regulations to ‘his stereotype of the ‘good’ Canadian woman.’

By Joseph Mahmoud – “Mosul (AsiaNews) – The Christian community in Mosul has been the victim of another targeted murder. The city in northern Iraq has seen a long series of bloody attacks against minority Christians. A local source, anonymous for security reasons, told AsiaNews that last night ‘a Christian man and his wife were gunned down’ but their two children who were with them survived. A few days ago, Muslim extremist groups, egged on by a local imam, attacked Christian shops in Zakho, Iraqi Kurdistan. Beginning on 2 December and for several days, dozens of shops were torched and at least 30 people wounded in Dohok.

In yesterday’s ambush, Adnan Elia Jakmakji, 34, and his wife Raghad al Tawil, 25, were killed in their car in the 17 July neighbourhood, east of the city. Their two children were with them. The two died instantly whilst the children were wounded. The latter’s life is not in danger.

According to early reports, the armed group ambushed the family, firing many bullets at the car. The attackers then fled the scene, undisturbed, without leaving any traces.

The family owns a small shop but it is unclear whether the murder was linked somehow to their business. Funerals will be held tonight in the Immaculate Chaldean Church in Mosul.

‘Right now, security is getting worse,’ the source said, ‘and Christians are concerned in view of the upcoming Christmas celebrations.’

The Christian community in northern Iraq has been the victim of a war between Arabs, Turkmen and Kurds for control over the region’s huge oil reserves.

The US pullout, to be completed by the end of the year, could cause further instability and violence.” Source – AsiaNews.

Islamists in Iraq to Christians: ‘If Anyone Decides to Reopen His Store, We Will Kill Him’ – “The Islamist campaign against all things contrary to Sharia Law continues, and to drive home just how dead serious they are about preventing Christians in Zakho and elsewhere from buying and selling products, notes have been left for Christians informing them that if they reopen their stores, they will be killed …” Read more.

Iran: Christian Convert from Islam Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Having ‘Baptism Performed in Turkey’

“Alireza Seyyedian,* 36, a Muslim who converted to Christianity six years ago, was sentenced to six years in prison by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court.

In an interview with the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, Seyyedian’s lawyer, said that his client’s charges are ‘propaganda against the regime’ and ‘acting against national security.’

‘The judge said that by having his baptism performed in Turkey, he propagated against the regime. According to the judge, we have enough priests in Iran to baptize him,’ said Dadkhah. ‘The judge’s interpretation was that by having his baptism in Turkey, my client’s intent was to express the lack of freedom in Iran.’

Dadkhah told the Campaign that Seyyedian’s court sentence explicitly noted that he propagated against the regime by holding his baptism in Turkey.

Seyyedian, who runs a house church, was first arrested in 2010 and released on $50,000 bail. His first court session was held at Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court on 19 November 2011.

‘The other allegations against my client were distributing videos of his baptism on the Internet and holding various interviews about [the baptism]. He is also charged with running a home church. He was holding regular meetings with other converts but they were not put on trial, only Alireza was. In any case, the judge noted all these items as propaganda against the regime and acting against national security,’ said Dadkhah, adding that, ‘I tried defending my client by adding that these charges can all be considered propaganda against the regime, the sentence for which is only one year in prison.'” Read more.

State coordinator of the Indian Bird Conservation Network (IBCN) Satya Prakash said the Union government had sent experts team to Jamshedpur and Bokaro to take blood samples of the dead crows and had mentioned that the crows died of H5N-1.

‘The birds died there because of some virus which may be the same that resulted in a large number of deaths in Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Ranchi,’ said Prakash who visited Katkumsandi to review the situation.” Read more.

Nepal: More Than a Thousand Chickens Die of Unknown Disease, Bird Flu Ruled Out

“BOKSE: It has been proved that there is no bird flu after tests of the dead broiler chickens were made a few days ago in Ghurmi Bazaar of Lekhani VDC of Udayapur district.

Although bird flu was not found, the reason could not be revealed from the test in the Central Livestock Disease Control Lab in Kathmandu conducted for the past three days continuously, said livestock technician of the Livestock Office Udayapur, Amarendra Kumar Jha.

No bird flu was seen even in the test in Biratnagar Regional Lab before sending to Kathmandu and the chickens might have died because of cold weather and polluted feed.

Bird flu was suspected after more than 1,000 broiler chickens died a few days ago from unknown disease in the poultry farm of Hira Tamang and Lekh Bahadur Magar of Ghurmi in the district.” Source – The Himalayan.

Power Shifts Push Middle East Closer to War

We’re already there, Peter.  It’s now just a matter of time before others join the fray …

By Peter Goodspeed – “As Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad clings to power with the quiet backing of regional powers Iran and Russia, the Middle East may be sliding slowly into war.

Squeezed between the rebellions of a bloody Arab Spring and growing fears of a possible military response to Iran’s growing nuclear threat, the region is becoming increasingly unstable.

‘I would be very surprised if it turned into a Russian-American war, but this could be a Mid-East war: Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran, Syria, Israel all having at each other,’ said Jack Granatstein, military historian and senior research fellow at the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute.

Ramazan Gözen, an international relations expert at Abant İzzet Baysal University wrote this week in the Turkish newspaper Zaman, ‘A process of steadily sharpening polarization is being experienced … [and] it does not bode well…. In short, the polarization over Syria and Iran can turn into an uncontrollable conflict between the polarized countries and their supporters.’

Russia and the United States are bracing for a naval confrontation, unprecedented since the Cold War, in the eastern Mediterranean, just off the coast of Syria.

Iran, worried over a possible pre-emptive strike against its nuclear facilities, has threatened to attack NATO’s new missile defence shield in Turkey if it is attacked by either Israel or the United States. It has also said it will soon stage a navy drill to practise closing the Strait of Hormuz, through which 40% of the world’s oil travels.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, has raised the possibility of a Turkish military incursion into Syria to create safety zones for refugees, if Mr. Assad doesn’t stop killing civilians.

Syria responded last weekend by staging a massive live-fire military exercise, near the north-central desert town of Palmyra, that, according to Syrian state TV, was designed to test “the capabilities and readiness of missile systems to respond to any possible aggression.”

On Tuesday, under the headline ‘U.S. troops surround Syria on the eve of invasion?’ the online Russian news channel RT.com reported U.S. troops withdrawn from Iraq are secretly being transferred to northern Jordan and taking up positions opposite Syrian tank formations along the border.

US Troops Now Leaving Iraq Surrounding Syria on the Eve of an Invasion?

12/15/2011 Leave a comment

“A former official from within the ranks of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is reporting that US and NATO forces have landed outside of Syria and are training militants to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, formerly a translator with the FBI, wrote over the weekend that American soldiers are among the NATO troops that have mysteriously and suddenly landed on the Jordanian and Syrian border. According to her, several sources internationally have confirmed the news, although the US media has been instructed to temporarily censor itself from reporting the news.

Additionally, Edmonds says that American and NATO forces are training Turkish troops as well, to possibly launch a strike from the north of Syria.

Edmonds writes that an Iraqi journalist based out of London has confirmed that US forces that vacated the Ain al-Assad Air Base in Iraq last week did in fact leave the country as part of President Obama’s drawdown of troops, but rather than return home, the soldiers were transferred into Jordan during the late hours of Thursday evening. Another source, writes Edmonds, informs her that “soldiers who speak languages other than Arabic” have been moving through Jordan mere miles from the country’s border with Syria. Troops believed to be NATO/American-affiliated have been spotted between the King Hussein Air Base in al-Mafraq and the Jordanian village of Albaej and its vicinity.

Nizar Nayouf, a correspondent for Edmond’s Boiling Frog Post whistleblower site, says an employee of the London-based offices of Royal Jordanian Airlines has further confirmed that Read more…

U.S. to Leave Iraqi Airspace Clear for Strategic Israeli Route to Iran

12/15/2011 Leave a comment

By Rowan Scarborough – “The U.S. military’s fast-approaching Dec. 31 exit from Iraq, which has no way to defend its airspace, puts Israel in a better place strategically to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Iraq has yet to assemble a force of jet fighters, and since the shortest route for Israeli strike fighters to Iran is through Iraqi airspace, observers conclude that the U.S. exit makes the Jewish state’s mission planning a lot easier.

Army Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan, the top U.S. military spokesman in Iraq, said the Iraqi military will maintain radars to monitor the country’s airspace, but it has not taken possession of American F-16s to guard that space.

‘The country has a capable and improving capability to see the airspace, a viable system to provide command and control, but no system to defeat incoming air threats until it gets either the F-16s or ground-based systems or, optimally, some of both,’ Gen. Buchanan told The Washington Times.

Iraq made the first payment in September for 18 F-16s that will not arrive until next fall at the earliest. This means Israel would have a theoretical window of about 12 months if it wants to fly over Iraq unimpeded by the Iraqi air force.

Retired Air ForceGen. Thomas McInerney, who advocates a U.S. strategic bombing raid to destroy Iran’s nuclear sites, agreed that Iraq’s open airspace would make it easier for an Israeli mission.

‘Yes, it will be,’ he said. ‘However, it will be much easier for Iranian forces to get to Israel through Iraq via land and air.’

Gen. McInerney said he thinks there is a good chance that Iran, stretched economically by Western sanctions and fearing threats from Israel, will launch a war against the Jewish state through Iraq.

‘Our departing Iraq will be a huge strategic mistake,’ he said of the Dec. 31 deadline for all U.S. forces to leave.” Read more.

What Lies Beneath: Team of Israeli and German Scientists Discover System of Deep Fresh Water Springs, New Life Forms on Dead Sea Floor

12/14/2011 Leave a comment

Ezekiel 47:8, “Then he said to me: ‘This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the [dead] sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.”

By Dr. Jimmy DeYoung – “It almost seems like a contradiction of terms to read the headline for this story that life, in fact, new life has been discovered in the Dead Sea by a team of Israeli and German scientists and this report comes at a time when the Dead Sea is dangerously low due to evaporation of the salty Dead Sea water.

Deep beneath the sea bed of a body of water long believed incapable of sustaining life, Israeli scientists have found deep fresh water springs and German scientists have discovered microorganisms growing on the sea floor.

While researchers have known for decades that the Dead Sea is a misnomer, the rich variety of life evidenced in the underwater springs and the microorganisms at the bottom of the Dead Sea may lead to new life for this body of water…

Freshwater springs at the bottom of the Dead Sea and newly discovered microorganisms in this body of water set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

For a number of years, I have been reporting on the death of the Dead Sea as this famous body of water has been going down in level almost 3 feet per year. There have been major discoveries that may also be used to save the Dead Sea from death. These underwater springs and even the microorganisms discovered by the marine scientists could well be a lifeline needed for this project.

What is so interesting to a student of Bible prophecy is that two ancient Jewish prophets foretold of freshwater flowing into the Dead Sea and making this body of water, which is ten times saltier than any ocean on earth, a freshwater lake.

Zechariah wrote of what happens after Jesus Christ returns to the earth, how living waters flow from Jerusalem to the former sea in the text which is the Dead Sea, Zechariah 14:8. Ezekiel, in the 47th chapter of his prophecy, wrote of water flowing from the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, actually from the Temple itself, down the Kidron Valley, all the way to the Dead Sea, Ezekiel 47:1-8. Verse 8 reveals that the saltwater in the Dead Sea will be healed and the fishermen will dry their fishing nets at Ngedi.

The Dead Sea will indeed be healed.” Source – Prophecy Today.

Scientists Discover New Life in the Dead Sea – “Deep beneath the sea bed of a body of water long believed incapable of sustaining life, scientists have discovered new micro-organisms. Researchers from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev announced Wednesday they have found deep fresh water springs on the floor of the Dead Sea. These secret springs are apparently providing fresh water to the rapidly shrinking lake. Meanwhile, a parallel study being conducted by German scientists has found new life forms in the mineral-laden waters. The micro-organisms were discovered growing around the fissures in the sea floor.” Read more.

Arab Spring Begins Weeding Out Christians as Sunni and Shia Ideologies Lock Horns Over Control of New Islamic Kingdom

Daniel 2:41, “Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.”

By Michael Carl – “Islamic factions jockeying for position from out of the ashes of the Arab Spring are posing an increased threat to Middle East Christians, an international human rights group contends.

The British group Barnabas Aid says that Christians in Iran and Azerbaijan are coming under increased pressure from their governments.

Barnabas Aid wrote in its December prayer alert that there is cause for concern for Iran’s persecuted believers, because Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei recently urged more than 2.5 million Muslims on a pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia to form ‘an international Islamic power bloc.’

The Ayatollah Khamenei told the listeners the Arab Spring was guided by Islam and said Muslims worldwide should rally to the Islamic cause.

The prayer alert also said the Iranian leader called on Muslims ‘to make the most of the opportunity’ created by the Arab Spring, as well as the anti-capitalist ‘Occupy’ movement across the world…

Center for Security Policy senior fellow Clare Lopez said the Ayatollah Khamenei’s call for an Islamic power bloc fits together with the objectives of other Islamic groups and countries.

‘Iran’s jihadist objectives are exactly the same as al-Qaida, the Muslim Brotherhood and Turkey. Indeed, the Iranian leadership was among the first, most consistent and most vocal of supporters of the ‘Islamic Awakening,” Lopez said.

‘Notice that the Iranians don’t call it the ‘Arab Spring,’ because the Iranians want to be the ones seen as the leaders of the jihadi movement,’ Lopez said.

Lopez said the Iranians’ desire to lead the movement may run into a barrier with Turkey.

‘Turkish leadership, seized with neo-Caliphate illusions, has decided on claiming that role for themselves. Moreover, the Turks are openly opposed to the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad and the Alawites, which is an ally of Iran,’ Lopez said.

‘Plus, the Arab League has decided it wants Turkey to lead the next Caliphate, not a bunch of Shias who long for an Imamate and the imminent return of the 12th Imam Mahdi, together with Armageddon,’ Lopez said.

Lopez said Iran is in a battle against the rest of the Muslim world.” Read more.

Fox News Host Boots Atheist Off Show for Belittling Jesus

Psalm 14:1, “… The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’ …”

Isaiah 5:20a, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness …”

By Gabrielle Devenish – “Two rules to avoid family blowouts at holiday gatherings: don’t bring up politics and don’t bring up religion. For proof, just look to Eric Bolling’s show on Fox Business News, where the host booted an atheist leader off the show Monday night for ‘denigrating the name of Jesus.’

What was supposed to be a civil discussion about a nativity scene on public property in Wisconsin quickly turned into a rapid-fire attack upon Christianity when Bolling interviewed Dan Barker, a spokesman for the atheist group Freedom From Religion Foundation. When asked why his group was pushing for the nativity scene’s removal, Barker began to attack Christianity, first by declaring that America is not Christian.

‘America is a diverse country. It is not a Christian country,’ Barker firmly stated. He went on to say, ‘The nativity scene basically is an insult to human nature, that we are all doomed and damned…’

Bolling quickly cut him off by saying that he was a Christian and the nativity scene was not an insult to him. He then tried to steer the conversation back to the issue at hand – whether or not the nativity scene should be allowed on public property.

But Barker only wanted to continue hurling insults.

‘By the way, why was Jesus even born?’ Barker asks. ‘To save us from our sin. What an insult to say we are degraded and depraved human beings.’

Again Bolling tried to cut him off, firmly stating, ‘I cannot allow that on my show. … You sir, are denigrating the name of Jesus and I’m not going to let it happen.'” Read more.

Utah: Thousands of Migratory Birds Die On Impact After ‘Crash Landing’ in Walmart Parking Lot, ‘They’re Just Everywhere’

12/14/2011 Leave a comment

“ST. GEORGE, Utah – Thousands of migratory birds died on impact after apparently mistaking a Wal-Mart parking lot and other areas of southern Utah for bodies of water and plummeting to the ground in what one wildlife expert called the worst downing she’s ever seen.

Crews went to work cleaning up the dead birds and rescuing the survivors after the creatures crash-landed in the St. George area Monday night.

By Tuesday evening, volunteers had rescued more than 2,000 birds, releasing them into nearby bodies of water.

‘They’re just everywhere,’ said Teresa Griffin, wildlife program manager for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resource’s southern region. ‘It’s been nonstop. All our employees are driving around picking them up, and we’ve got so many people coming to our office and dropping them off.’

Officials say stormy conditions probably confused the flock of grebes, a duck-like aquatic bird likely making its way to Mexico for the winter. The birds tried to land in a Cedar City Wal-Mart parking lot and elsewhere.

‘The storm clouds over the top of the city lights made it look like a nice, flat body of water. All the conditions were right,’ Griffin told The Spectrum newspaper in St. George. ‘So the birds landed to rest, but ended up slamming into the pavement.’

No human injuries or property damage have been reported.

It’s not uncommon for birds to mistake hard surfaces for water. However, Griffin noted most downing are localized, while ‘this was very widespread.’

‘I’ve been here 15 years and this was the worst downing I’ve seen,’ she told the newspaper.” Read more.
