NASA: Earth Threatened By Thousands Of Potentially Hazardous Asteroids, Could Cause ‘Large Scale’ Damage If Any Collide With Earth

05/17/2012 Leave a comment

By Gaby Leslie, Yahoo News – “As many as 6,200 potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs) are orbiting close to Earth, a new survey by Nasa has revealed.

The PHAs are considered robust enough to survive the passage through Earth’s atmosphere. If they were to collide with Earth they could cause damage on a large scale, experts warn.

In the most detailed study of PHAs yet researchers used infrared scans from Nasa’s 16-inch WISE telescope to identify 4,700 asteroids – plus or minus 1500 – that come within five million miles of Earth’s orbit.

An image released by Nasa shows the distribution of the PHAs – with every orange dot representing an asteroid measuring 330 feet (100 metres) or more that is in orbit.

Only 20% to 30% of these objects have previously been charted.

Although there is no cause for immediate alarm, Nasa said the information could prepare us for future disasters.

Lindley Johnson, programme scientist for the Near-Earth Object Observation said: ‘The NEOWISE analysis shows us we’ve made a good start at finding those objects that truly represent an impact hazard to Earth.’

‘But we’ve many more to find, and it will take a concerted effort during the next couple of decades to find all of them that could do serious damage or be a mission destination in the future.'” Read more.

Mali: Malians Riot As Islamic Rebels Impose Sharia Law, Faces ‘Worst Crisis Since Independence In 1960’

05/17/2012 Leave a comment

Daniel 7:25a, “And he shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws …”

“Attempts by Malian insurgents to impose Sharia law in the north of the country have sparked protests against rebel control.

Witnesses say Ansar Dine – the Islamic sect that controls much of northern Mali, together with Tuareg separatists the MNLA and al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb – fired into the air injuring five people during protests in the northern city of Gao, including one by a stray bullet.

‘We received five wounded, including one by a bullet. They are all civilians,’ a source at the hospital in Gao told the South African Press Association.

The protests come amid reports that rebels were intensifying attempts to impose sharia law in northern Mali, smashing  TV sets claiming they were being used to play video games or watch content considered un-Islamic.

Ansar Dine blocked an aid convoy with tonnes of food and medical supplies for the northern city of Timbuktu on Tuesday, objecting to the presence of women in a reception committee set up for the aid…

Ansar Dine already stand accused of desecrating mausoleums dedicated to local saints in Timbuktu, prompting further fears for the 12th century Unesco world heritage site.

The convoy marked the first aid deployed to Timbuktu since a military coup on March 22 toppled the civilian government in the capital, Bamako, allowing rebels to seize control of urban centres in the vast desert north.

Protests against the rebels come as Amnesty International accused all armed groups in northern Mali of ‘running riot’ and committing human rights violations including arbitrary detention, extrajudicial executions and rape.

‘After two decades of relative stability and peace, Mali is now facing its worst crisis since independence in 1960,’ said Amnesty’s West Africa researcher Gaetan Mootoo…

Tens of thousands of people have fled the region, creating a humanitarian crisis in Mali and in neighbouring countries.”” Read more.

Kenya: Two Christian Pastors Burned To Death After Visiting Muslim Family

By ANTHONY KITIMO, Daily Nation – “The umbrella body of evangelical churches and a human rights organisation have condemned the lynching of two pastors at Jomvu in Mombasa early this week.

Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Christian Churches of Kenya asked the police to pursue the case up to the end, with the culprits arrested and charged in court.

On Thursday, the federation’s national chairman, Mr Joseph Methu, said punishment of killers of the two clerics in a case of mistaken identity should be used as an example to those who spearhead crime.

‘Time has come for the government to enforce the law and bring to book those who participated in the act that saw innocent pastors on a preaching mission burnt to death,’ said Mr Methu…

As police continue with their investigations, there are conflicting reports by the church and Jitoni residents in Jomvu, where the two pastors were lynched.

The pastor in charge of Melchidizek Church, Mr Samuel Wainaina, said the owner of the home the clerics visited was converted into a Christian a few weeks.

His family, however, dismissed the conversion claim.

Ms Mapenzi Abdalla, one of the members of Mr Mutana Nyandu’s family, said they were all Muslims and no one had converted to Christianity as claimed by Pastor Wainaina.

Ms Abdalla said three people had visited their home and they even welcomed them before confrontation ensued after one of them took a bag containing paraphernalia used by the family to treat the sick.” Read more.

Nigeria: Church Of Christ President Warns Nigerian Leaders They May Be ‘Consumed’ By Radical Islamists If They Fail To Soon Curtail Terrorism

John 16:2b, “… the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.”

By Isaac Shobayo, Chris Agbambu, Clement Idoko and Christian Okeke, Nigerian Tribune – “PRESIDENT of the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), Reverend (Dr) Soja Joseph Bewarang, has accused those in leadership positions of treating the Boko Haram insugence with kid gloves, warning that if the leaders fail to curtail the terrorists, they may end up being consumed by them.

Reverend Bewarang gave the warning while delivering his address at the opening of the General Church Council meeting of the church held at the COCIN headquarters in Jos, Plateau State.

According to him, the country’s leaders were more interested in using their privileged positions to better their lot and in the process neglected the common man and the need to tackle once and for all the act of terrorism that has bedevilled the society, particularly Christian communities in the northern part of the country.

He said if those in leadership position allowed the trend of insecurity to continue, the rampaging terrorists would not spare them and allow them to enjoy their accumulated wealth.

The COCIN president said the country was facing a Jihad, targeted at eliminating Christians and Christianity, adding that the act was becoming bolder by the day because of the well-planned denial and excuses of those who should curb the terrorists’ activities.

He, however, said despite the insecurity and frequent attacks, the church would march on because Jesus Christ is building His church and all gates of hell in any disguise will not prevail against it.

He said the church was equally concerned about the role of military personnel in handling security situations in Plateau State, adding that the situation had become so unpredictable that everybody lived in fear.

He said until those in leadership positions put their heads together, the leaders would soon be leaders of no people, adding that the church was more concerned that the attacks were coming at a time when people were expected to be cultivating and planting.” Read more.

Israeli Elite Locks Down As Iran Attack Decision Nears

05/17/2012 Leave a comment

By Michael Stott – “(Reuters) – A private door opens from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office in central Jerusalem directly into a long, modestly furnished, half-paneled room decorated with modern paintings by Israeli artists and a copy of Israel’s 1948 declaration of independence. It contains little more than a long wooden table, brown leather chairs and a single old-fashioned white projector screen.

This inner sanctum at the end of a corridor between Netanyahu’s private room and the office of his top military adviser, is where one of the decade’s most momentous military decisions could soon be taken: to launch an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear program.

Time for that decision is fast running out and the mood in Jerusalem is hardening.

Iran continues to enrich uranium in defiance of international pressure, saying it needs the fuel for its civilian nuclear program. The West is convinced that Tehran’s real objective is to build an atomic bomb – something which the Jewish state will never accept because its leaders consider a nuclear armed-Iran a threat to its very existence.

Adding to the international pressure, U.S. ambassador to Israel Daniel Shapiro said this week American military plans to strike Iran were ‘ready’ and the option was ‘fully available’.

The central role Iran plays in Netanyahu’s deliberations is reflected in the huge map of the Middle East hanging by the door of his office. Israel lies on one edge, with Iran taking pride of place in the centre.

Experts say that within a few months, much of Iran’s nuclear program will have been moved deep underground beneath the Fordow mountain, making a successful military strike much more difficult.” Read more.

Head Of International Institute Of Finance Says Greek Exit ‘Somewhere Between Catastrophic And Armageddon’

05/17/2012 Leave a comment

Reuters – “Charles Dallara, who as head of the International Institute of Finance (IIF) spent months in Athens negotiating the largest ever sovereign debt restructuring, also said he had seen evidence that more people were moving their cash out of Greece.

‘There has been a pick up of deposit flight from Greece,’ Mr Dallara told reporters, but added he thought this could be stabilised ‘once you get a new government in place, if that government reaffirms its intention to remain in the euro zone’.

He was speaking on a visit to Ireland, which followed Greece into an international bailout in 2010 but has been far more successful in boosting exports to keep the economy afloat while slashing government spending.

Policymakers have begun to speak openly of the risk that Greece, now in its fifth year of recession, might leave the euro. Mr Dallara said the costs of a Greek exit would be so severe that Europe has to find a palatable way of solving their woes.

‘I think that it (a Greek exit) is possible, but I wouldn’t call it inevitable and I wouldn’t even call it likely because the costs for Greece, for Europe and for the global economy are likely each in their own way to be immense,’ Mr Dallara said in a speech.” Read more.

Mysterious Illness Strikes Hundreds Of Flight Attendants, Causes Rashes And Hair Loss – Are ‘Toxic Uniforms’ Really To Blame Or Is It Fukushima?

05/17/2012 3 comments

“(NaturalNews) Hundreds of Alaska Airlines flight attendants have filed a formal complaint about uniforms they suspect might be causing their skin to rash and develop lesions, and their hair to fall out. But based on the timing of the symptoms and their relation to similar symptoms in local marine life and polar bear populations, it appears as though radiation from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster may also be a potential culprit.

KING 5 News in Seattle, Wash., first broke the news about the ‘mystery illness’ that has reportedly affected at least 280 flight attendants thus far. According to accounts, those afflicted by the condition say they have developed persistently itchy skin, skin lesions, and hair loss, all of which they suspect may have to do with newer flight uniforms that allegedly contain tributyl phosphate, a toxic organophosphorus compound linked to skin problems (http://www.rightdiagnosis.com).

But not everyone is convinced that the uniforms are to blame, including Alexander Higgins who recently connected the dots to discover a potential link to the Fukushima Daiichi disaster. After comparing the flight attendants’ symptoms to those reported on polar bears and marine life from the northwest U.S. throughout the past year, the timing and correlation of the two is highly suspect.

Back in April, AlaskaPublic.org reported that an alarming number of polar bears living in the Beaufort Sea, which is located just north of Alaska and Canada’s Yukon and Northwest Territories, were turning up with skin lesions and Alopecia, which is another name for hair loss. And before the polar bears, it was apparently ice seals and walruses living in the arctic that were suffering similar symptoms (http://www.alaskapublic.org).

Upon these discoveries, it seemed as though scientists and biologists tried every which way to avoid tagging nuclear radiation as the cause, blaming viruses, bacteria, and other factors as potential causes. But all of these hypotheses have failed, under further scrutiny, to prove true, which leaves one major elephant in the room that is not being discussed: nuclear fallout from the Fukushima Daiichi disaster.” Read more.

Iranian Official Calls For ‘Islamic Awakening’ To Destroy Israel, PA Ambassador: Annihilate The ‘Zionist Regime’

05/16/2012 Leave a comment

Joel 3:1-2, 11-12, “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land… Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, And gather yourselves there. Bring down, O LORD, Your mighty ones. Let the nations be aroused and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.”

As numerous scholars and historians will attest, by the time Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed in 70 AD the Roman Legions responsible for the destruction were dominated by eastern peoples from Syria, Egypt, Asia Minor (Turkey) and that general area. Even though they were considered Roman citizens, all those who “scattered [the Jews] among the nations” and divided up God’s land for gain according to Joel 3:2 were Middle Eastern. Today, they are Muslim nations.

Following the destruction of 70 AD, the Jewish people were dispersed and exiled into captivity again for over 1800 years. In 1948, however, God began restoring the nation of Israel after 2/3 of all Jews in Europe were killed during the Holocaust of WWII. But, as before, the very same peoples that surrounded the tiny new Jewish State of Israel wanted nothing more than to eradicate the Jews and divide the land for gain. Unfortunately for the surrounding nations, however, this time the Jews of Israel are not going anywhere. After God brought His people back to the land again the second time the Prophet Joel tells us that He would also then gather the surrounding nations for judgment “on account of My people, My heritage Israel” who would never again be uprooted and scattered. And no matter how hard the Islamic nations surrounding Israel today fight to “liberate” the land and eliminate the Jews, when God makes a promise, it’s a promise He intends to keep …

Amos 9:14-15, “… I will bring my people Israel back from exile. ‘They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,’ says the LORD your God.”

By Elad Benari, INN – “An Iranian official called this week for an ‘Islamic Awakening’ movement to help Palestinian Authority Arabs ‘demolish the Zionist regime’, the IRNA news agency reported.

The comments were made at a conference in Tehran in honor of Nakba Day – the day of catastrophe – which is what the Arabs call the English date of May 15, when the State of Israel was re-established with a declaration of independence in 1948.

In a brief address at the end of the conference, the official, Hossein Shiekholeslam said, ‘In success of a revolution three major factors need to play effective roles, and they are the people, the leadership, and the school of thought, or ideology.’

He added, ‘If we wish success for the Palestinians, the existence of these three factors is necessary, as they did exist in the case of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.’

Sheikholeslam said that ‘In near future the Islamic Awakening movement would also swallow the Zionist regime.’

The first speaker at the conference, according to IRNA, was the PA Ambassador in Tehran, Salah Zawawi, who said that the one and only way to soothe the Arabs’ pains and agony is the annihilation of the Zionist regime.” Read more.

Lebanon: Hezbollah Leader Says Terror Group Can Hit Any City, Destroy Any Target In Israel, ‘They Must Cease To Exist’

Psalm 83:2,4, “For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head… They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.'”

By Roi Kais, YNet – “Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah threatened in a speech on Friday that the terror group has bolstered its capabilities and can now destroy any specific target within ‘occupied Palestine.’

Nasrallah told supporters via a video link that if a new war breaks out, the group will ruin targets in Israel for every building destroyed in Beirut.

‘The era in which we are afraid and they are not is over,’ he said. ‘The time has come to declare that we are here to stay, and they must cease to exist.’

He said that Hezbollah is ‘capable of striking very specific targets not only in Tel Aviv but everywhere in occupied Palestine.’

Nasrallah asserted that Israel’s goal in the Second Lebanon War was to ‘crush the resistance’ – and not to drive Hezbollah away from southern Lebanon’s Litani River or to liberate soldiers captured by the organization, as the Jewish state claimed.

‘The war has failed to achieve its goal,” he said.” Read more.

Indonesia: Christian Neighbourhood Attacked, Dozens Of Families Flee Homes, Police ‘Rule Out’ Islamic Terrorists

By Mathias Hariyadi – “Jakarta (AsiaNews) – For the third straight day there have been attacks in Ambon (Moluccas), where last night a group of unidentified persons set fire to houses and motorbikes in a predominantly Christian neighborhood. AsiaNews sources say that dozens of families have fled their homes for fear of attacks. Many fear the involvement of Islamic extremist groups.

The violence started early last May 14 on Pattimura Day, which commemorates Indonesian national hero Thomas Matulessy (1783-1817) who was born in Ambon, contested by both Christians and Muslims. In the night a group of men attacked the candlelight vigil in Saparua village which was due to end in downtown Ambon. In the clashes 44 people were injured. Yesterday, General Saud Usman Nasution said that the violence was deliberately caused by people close to the radical movements, but has ruled out the involvement of Islamic terrorists.

Between 1999 and 2001 a bloody war between Christians and Muslims was fought in the Moluccas. There were thousands of victims, hundreds of churches and mosques destroyed, thousands of homes destroyed, and almost half a million refugees. In February 2002 a truce between the two fronts -of equal strength in the Christian and Muslim areas – signed in Malino, South Sulawesi, halted the violence through a peace plan promoted by the government.” Source – AsiaNews.it.

Flashback: Massive Increase of Radical Islamism Spreads Throughout Indonesia, Including ‘Top-Quality’ Universities – “The suicide bombing of a church in Central Java on Sept. 25 pointed not only to a new level of attacks on religious minorities in the world’s largest Muslim-majority country but to a political bent that accommodates Islamist extremism. ‘Radicalization of Islamic teachings and understanding is a problem in Indonesia,’ admitted Dr. H. Nasaruddin Umar, director general of Islamic Community Guidance under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. ‘There’s a need to re-explain the concept of jihad.’ Pino Damayanto, aka Ahmad Yosepa Hayat, who blew himself up wounding over 20 members of the Sepenuh Injil Bethel Church (Bethel Full Gospel Church) in Solo on Sept. 25, apparently believed it was his religious duty to kill ‘the enemies of Islam,’ according to his understanding of ‘jihad.’” Read more.

The Indonesian Protestant Church Union, locally known as PGI, counted 54 acts of violence and other violations against Christians in 2011, up from 30 in 2010. The number of such incidents against religious minorities in general also grew, from 198 in 2010 to 276 in 2011, but the worst is perhaps yet to come if authorities continue to overlook the threat of extremism …”Read more.

US Ambassador Tells Israel Attack Plan Against Iran Is Ready, Iran Drills First Large-Scale Paratroop Drops For Offensive Action

By Kurt Nimmo – “The U.S. ambassador to Israel, Daniel Shaprio, told a closed conference in Tel Aviv that the United States has completed preparations for a military strike on Iran. His comments were recorded by a reporter and aired on Israel’s Channel 2 TV on Wednesday night.

Daniel Shaprio (center) sat on the NSC as senior director for the Middle East before Obama appointed him ambassador to Israel.

‘It would be preferable to resolve this diplomatically, and through the use of pressure, than to use military force,’ Shapiro said. ‘But that does not mean that option isn’t available. Not just available, it’s ready. The necessary planning has been done to ensure that it’s ready.’

Shaprio’s comments were not intended for public consumption, the Times of Israel reports.

The finalized attack plan arrives as Israel and the United States prepare for joint military exercises in the United States. ‘The exercises, to be held in the coming months, will strengthen the relationship between the IAF and the US Air Force as they practice carrying out joint operations,’ the Jerusalem-based online newspaper reported. ‘Israeli and US air defense forces are also to take part in a major joint drill later this summer in Israel to simulate a massive attack. Thousands of US soldiers are expected to arrive in Israel for the drills.'” Read more.

Israeli intelligence head ‘visited US for Iran talks’ – “Israeli military intelligence chief Aviv Kochavi made a ‘secret visit’ to Washington earlier this month to discuss the upcoming talks between world powers and Iran, a newspaper reported on Wednesday. An Israeli security official confirmed the visit, which was reported in Haaretz newspaper, but could not provide further details. As well as discussing Tehran’s nuclear programme, the major general also held talks with senior White House and intelligence officials in New York and Washington on ‘the Syria crisis and Hezbollah’s increasing power in Lebanon,’ the paper said.” Read more.

Iran drills first large-scale paratroop drops for offensive action – “Special operations units of the Iranian army and Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Tuesday, May 14, began a two-day practice of offensive tactics, for the first time dropping large-scale forces from the air deep behind enemy lines. The many war games Iran has conducted until now focused on defenses of strategic and nuclear locations and repelling invaders. This drill displayed its aggressive capabilities. Codenamed Ja’far Tayyar, it was staged in remote Khorasan near the Afghan border, so as not to expose the commando tactics it employed. In announcing the exercise, Gholam-Ali Gholamian, Dep. Commander for Operations for the IRGC Ground Forces, cagily called it another routine exercise for ‘maintaining the preparedness and promoting the combat capability of units stationed in the region.'” Read more.

Darkness Falls On Egypt – Thanks, Obama

05/16/2012 1 comment

By Joel Richardson – “On Jan. 31, 2011, the first day protests began in Egypt, in an WND article titled, ‘What’s next in the Middle East,’ I predicted precisely what we are now seeing unfold in Egypt. Don’t get me wrong – I am no prophet, but as I said then, and continue to believe, if one simply has a solid understanding of what the Bible says about the future of the region, as well as a solid understanding of the religious and geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, then this was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, the Obama administration, and the entirety of the mainstream media, missed this one by a full 180 degrees.

Literally hours after the protests began in Egypt, President Obama called for an ‘orderly transition’ to democracy there, stopping just shy of demanding President Mubarak step down, but making it clear that his days were numbered.

Only days later, Obama even praised the Egyptian revolutionaries.

Later, Obama spoke directly to Mubarak and personally demanded that his resignation take place ‘within days.’

Obama then stepped out into the foyer of the White House and declared to the world that Mubarak’s departure must ‘begin now.’

Finally, after the resignation of one of the United States and Israel’s longest, strongest and most important allies in the region, President Obama declared:

“The people of Egypt have spoken. Their voices have been heard. and Egypt will never be the same. … By stepping down, President Mubarak responded to the Egyptian people’s hunger for change, but this is not the end of Egypt’s transition. It’s the beginning.”

How is it that the president of the United States could get it so wrong, while mere commentators like myself and Glenn Beck, who are regularly mocked as absolute lunatics by the mainstream media, got it so right?

On the day the revolution began, I made the following prediction: Read more…
