New Hampshire: Muslim Marathon Murderer Tamerlan Tsarnaev Memorialized At ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ Rally

06/20/2013 Leave a comment

For lobotomized, liberal purposes …

By Matt K. Lewis, The Daily Caller – “An event held yesterday in Concord, New Hampshire by out-of-state supporters of Mike Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns movement turned ugly when a 2nd Amendment activist (who was protesting the event) was arrested. But buried in the Union Leader story was an arguably more interesting nugget.

During the rally, supporters of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns read the names of those ‘killed with guns’ since the Dec. 14 Newtown shootings — and Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s name was reportedly memorialized among the names of the dead. (Tsarnaev, of course, was killed in a police shootout.)

From graphs 15 and 16 of the story:

“Some of the loudest shouts came when a reader spoke the name of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects who was killed by police during a gunfight.

“‘He’s a terrorist,’ several protesters shouted.”

Although the incident was buried in the paper, the Union Leader’s editorial page editor Drew Cline sent out this tweet, which I think sums up how radical some of the anti-gun positions are:

Iran’s New President Elect Tied To 1994 Argentinian Jewish Center Bombing That Killed 85

06/20/2013 Leave a comment

For peaceful purposes …

By Alana Goodman, The Washington Free Beacon – “Iranian President-elect Hassan Rowhani was on the special Iranian government committee that plotted the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, according to an indictment by the Argentine government prosecutor investigating the case.

The AMIA bombing is considered the deadliest terrorist attack in Argentina’s history, killing 85 and wounding hundreds more. The Argentine government had accused the Iranian government of planning the attack and Iran’s terrorist proxy Hezbollah of carrying it out. Numerous former and current Iranian officials are wanted by Interpol in connection with the bombing.

Former Iranian intelligence official Abolghasem Mesbahi, who defected from Iran in the late 1990s, testified that the decision to launch the attack was made within a special operations committee connected to the powerful Supreme National Security Council in August 1993.

According to the 2006 indictment, Mesbahi testified that Rowhani, who was then serving as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, was also a member of the special committee when it approved the AMIA bombing.

‘With regard to the committee’s role in the decision to carry out the AMIA attack, Moghadam stated that this decision was made under the direction of Ali Khamenei, and that the other members of the committee were [then-Iranian president Ali Akbar Hashemi] Rafsanjani, Mir Hejazi, Rowhani, Velayati and Fallahijan,’ the indictment says.

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei led the special committee, according to the indictment, and Khamenei and Rafsanjani made the ultimate decision to go ahead with the attack.” Read more.

Moderate? New Pro-Nuclear Iran Prez Bragged About Deceiving The West In The Past, And May Be Used To Deceive The West Again – “For 16 years starting in 1989, Mr. Rohani served as secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. During his tenure on the council, Mr. Rouhani led the crackdown on a 1999 student uprising and helped the regime evade Western scrutiny of its nuclear-weapons program… As Mr. Rouhani said at a pro-regime rally in July 1999: ‘At dusk yesterday we received a decisive revolutionary order to crush mercilessly and monumentally any move of these opportunist elements wherever it may occur.” … While Iranians may know him as the man behind a brutal crackdown (one I witnessed as I was in Iran at the time), most Western diplomats know him as a nuclear negotiator during the last years of the Mohammad Khatami administration. Years later, Rouhani bragged about how he deceived the West.” Read more.

Specialists: SARS-Like Virus With Extremely High Mortality Rate Plagues Middle East

06/20/2013 Leave a comment

By Meeri Kim, The Washington Post – “A new virus responsible for an outbreak of respiratory illness in the Middle East may be more deadly than SARS, according to a team of infectious disease specialists who recently investigated a set of cases in Saudi Arabia.

Of 23 confirmed cases in April, 15 people died — an ‘extremely high’ fatality rate of 65 percent, according to Johns Hopkins senior epidemiologist Trish Perl, a member of the team that analyzed the spread of the virus through four Saudi hospitals.

Saudi officials said that as of Wednesday, 49 people have contracted the disease and 32 have died.

The infectious disease experts, who published their findings online Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, reported that infection occurred by way of person-to-person contact and poses an especially serious risk because it is easily transmitted in hospital settings.

Worldwide, the overall death rate from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus — or MERS-CoV — is at 59 percent, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That rate is expected to bounce around as new clusters of infection develop.

The vast majority of MERS-CoV infections have been in Saudi Arabia. No cases have been reported in the United States, but small clusters of infections have appeared in Britain, France, Italy and Tunisia.

Since the virus first emerged in April 2012 with two fatal cases in Jordan, 64 people have been infected and 38 have died around the world. The virus comes from the same family as the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus, which killed nearly 800 people worldwide in 2003.

Both viruses have a distincthaloed appearance when viewed under a microscope, and they typically target the respiratory tract. Like SARS, MERS starts with a fever and mild cough that eventually progress to pneumonia.

At first, MERS does not look out of the ordinary compared with other, less serious types of respiratory infection. But Perl said doctors should start taking careful note of a patient’s travel history, since all reported cases have been linked to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.” Read more.

Flashback: Global Health Officials Worried As Two New Viruses in Middle East And China Could Spark Possible World-Wide Outbreak – “Two respiratory viruses in different parts of the world have captured the attention of global health officials – a novel coronavirus in the Middle East and a new bird flu spreading in China. Last week, the coronavirus related to SARS spread to France, where one patient who probably caught the disease in Dubai infected his hospital roommate. Officials are now trying to track down everyone who went on a tour group holiday to Dubai with the first patient as well as all contacts of the second patient. Since it was first spotted last year, the new coronavirus has infected 34 people, killing 18 of them. Nearly all had some connection to the Middle East.” Read more.

Most ‘Super’ Supermoon Of 2013 Takes Place This Weekend, June 22-23

06/19/2013 5 comments

EarthSky – “Full moon falls on June 23, 2013 at 11:32 UTC (6:32 a.m. CDT in the U.S.). Thus, for many, the moon appears about as full in the June 22 evening sky as it does on the evening of June 23. This full moon is not only the closest and largest full moon of the year. It also presents the moon’s closest encounter with Earth for all of 2013. The moon will not be so close again until August, 2014. In other words, it’s not just a supermoon. It’s the closest supermoon of 2013.

At United States’ time zones, the moon will turn full on June 23 at 7:32 a.m. EDT, 6:32 a.m. CDT, 5:32 a.m. MDT and 4:32 a.m. PDT.

We astronomers call this sort of close full moon a perigee full moon. The word perigee describes the moon’s closest point to Earth for a given month. Two years ago, when the closest and largest full moon fell on March 19, 2011, many used the term supermoon, which we’d never heard before. Last year, we heard this term again to describe the year’s closest full moon on May 6, 2012. Now the term supermoon is being used a lot. Last month’s full moon – May 24-25, 2013 – was also a supermoon. But the June full moon is even more super! In other words, the time of full moon falls even closer to the time of perigee, the moon’s closest point to Earth. The crest of the moon’s full phase in June 2013, and perigee, fall within an hour of each other…

June 2013 presents the moon’s closest encounter with Earth until August 10, 2014, at which time the moon will be a scant 5 kilometers closer to Earth. The full moon will come even closer to Earth on September 28, 2015 (356,877 kilometers) and closer yet on November 14, 2016 (356,509 kilometers). November 2016 will feature the closest full moon until November 25, 2034! …

If you live along a coastline, watch for high tides caused by the June 23 perigee full moon – or supermoon – over the next several days.Read more.

Texas: Bomb Threat Made Against Courthouse If Demands Of Fort Hood Jihadi Killer Nidal Hasan Were Not Met

06/19/2013 2 comments

If a bomb had actually detonated for peaceful purposes, it wouldn’t have been terrorism. It would have simply been a violent workplace

Associated Press – “BELTON, TX — Someone threatened to bomb a county courthouse near Fort Hood unless officials met the ‘demands’ of the Army psychiatrist charged in the 2009 shooting rampage on the Texas Army post, a sheriff said Wednesday.

After the Wednesday morning call that mentioned Maj. Nidal Hasan, law officers evacuated the historic courthouse and Bell County Justice Center, but found nothing after searching extensively with bomb-sniffing dogs, Bell County Sheriff Eddy Lange said. The jail was put on lockdown.

Employees were allowed back inside the buildings a few hours later. The time that the caller said the bomb would explode at the courthouse had long expired, said city of Belton spokesman Paul Romer.

Bell County has a contract with nearby Fort Hood to house all of its defendants, including Hasan, because the Army post does not have holding facilities. Lange said this was the first threat related to Hasan, and it came a day after a military judge who reviewed the security plans for Hasan’s murder trial said she was unaware of any threat to any individual or group.

Hasan has made no demands of the jail staff, Lange said.

Hasan has not made any demands at court hearings. But he objected Tuesday to the judge’s denial of his ‘defense of others’ strategy, which must show that killing was necessary to prevent the immediate harm or death of others. Hasan, an American-born Muslim, has said he shot U.S. troops because they were an imminent threat to Taliban leaders in Afghanistan.” Read more.

He says he was trying to prevent the imminent death of Taliban fighters.” Read more.

Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence and suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation’s Armed Forces at home. During a joint session of the Senate and House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, the Maine Republican referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the threat as radical Islam.” Read more.

I Kid You Not: Egypt Appoints Tourist Killer Terrorist As Governor Over Major Tourist Hotspot

06/19/2013 Leave a comment

For … business purposes? This is one I can’t figure out. Perhaps Mohammed Morsi is actually trying to dissuade non-Muslims from visiting Egypt entirely in the hopes of encouraging more Sharia tourism? …

By Max Fisher, The Washington Post – “It was only 16 years ago, in 1997, that members of an Egyptian militant group called Gamaa Islamiya stormed the ancient Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor, a tourism magnet, and massacred 62 tourists before killing themselves, part of their insurgent campaign against the government. This week, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi swore in Adel Mohamed al-Khayat, a former leader of Gamaa Islamiya and now a member of its political arm, as the new governor of Luxor governorate.

Gamaa Islamiya swore off violence and denounced al-Qaeda a decade ago. But they are still listed by the U.S. State Department as a terrorist group, which cites a number of other terrorist attacks before the group’s 1999 about-face and says that part of the group never renounced violence. Khayat joined Gamaa before it renounced violence and he was serving as one of its leaders, according to Reuters, when the 1997 attack took place, albeit in a different province.

The growing political influence of Islamism in Egypt, both moderate and not, is a trend larger than just Khayat or his group. It would hardly be fair to blame Morsi for Gamaa Islamiya’s long-standing base of support in some rural area of Egypt. But his decision to appoint Khayat, whose group is best known for terrifying foreigners into avoiding Egyptian tourism sites, to the job of running Luxor is baffling. The region is known as a major, international tourist draw, making it not just a source of Egyptian pride but of increasingly crucial and scarce tourism revenue.

Tourism has dropped in Egypt since the January 2011 revolution, costing the country an estimated $2.5 billion at a time when it needs every penny. So many of Egypt’s problems are worsened by the country’s economic struggle that you might think Morsi would seize any opportunity he could to boost tourism income. Although Khayat has said he welcomes ‘all forms of tourism’ – a subtle pledge, perhaps, that yes Westerners are still allowed in Luxor – his appointment seems unlikely to bolster tourist confidence in the region.” Read more.

Egypt Tourism Minister Quits Over New Luxor Governor – “Egypt’s tourism minister has resigned a day after President Mohamed Morsi appointed a new governor to Luxor province from an Islamist party linked to a massacre of holidaymakers in the temple city. Hesham Zazou said on Wednesday he ‘couldn’t continue in the role of tourism minister’ after the appointment of Adel al-Khayat, a former member of the political arm of Islamist group Gamaa Islamiya.” Read more.

UK: Muslim Man Beheads 20 Year-Old Woman, Assaults Five Others In Sheffield

06/18/2013 8 comments

He apparently beheaded a Muslim woman. If media “reports” are any indication, it had absolutely nothing to do with Islam, of course. Although no reason was mentioned in the article below, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is yet another example of a woman paying the ultimiate price for somehow dishonoring the family, or was simply a Muslim woman acting too Western, or both. And that would have been insulting to the “prophet” …

By ANNA EDWARDS, Mail Online – “A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a young woman who was beheaded in a knife attack.

Aras Hussein appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today accused of murdering Reema Ramzan, 18.

Miss Ramzan, who was from the Darnall area of Sheffield, died on June 4 following an incident at a property on Herries Road, in the city.

Detectives said she suffered a severe knife attack resulting in fatal injuries, including the severing of her head.

Hussein, of Sheffield, is also charged with assaulting five people at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital, where he was taken following his arrest by police.

He stood in the glass-fronted dock today flanked by two uniformed police officers.

Sporting full beard and short, dark hair, he wore a navy blue T-shirt and spoke only to confirm his personal details and that he understood the charge.

Hussein was remanded in custody following a 10 minute hearing and told he will appear again a Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday.” Read more.

Moderate? New Pro-Nuclear Iran Prez Bragged About Deceiving The West In The Past, And May Be Used To Deceive The West Again

06/18/2013 2 comments

Is Iran’s new President elect Hassan Rouhani really a moderate and a reformer? Fat chance. The fact that the 12-member Guardians Council of clerics permitted his candidacy — not to mention the “Annihilate-Israel-And-Kill-All-Jews-Worldwide” Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei himself — should speak volumes. Islam is the law of the land in Iran and the Qur’an is the quintessential source of influence for the Islamic Republic’s own constitution as well as its foreign policy, one that openly calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. And when the “infallible god” of Islam is called “the best of deceivers” by such a quintessential book, we can be certain that The Office of the Supreme Leader will do everything in its power to mimic Allah’s “divine” example …

By Nazila Fathi, CNN – “Millions of Iranians poured into the streets Saturday to celebrate the victory of presidential candidate Hassan Rouhani. Huge crowds snarled traffic in the capital, Tehran, demanding the release of hundreds of political prisoners arrested during protests over sham elections four years ago. ‘My dead brother and sister, I got your vote back,’ people chanted, a reference to more than 100 demonstrators killed by the regime.

The surprise was not so much that 18 million votes were cast for Rouhani, slightly more than half the ballots, but the fact that the regime had endorsed his victory, triggering hope that international pressure over Iran’s nuclear program and growing internal rifts at home might have forced the leadership to restore some of its lost legitimacy.

Rouhani is not a reformist, even according to Iranian standards. He had backed the violent crackdown against the pro-democracy student movement in 1999 and never formally aligned himself with the reformist camp. A cleric and a veteran politician since 1979, he was in the circle close to the founder of the revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini. He served five terms as a member of Parliament and 16 years as the head of the National Security Council.

… The president sets the tone for domestic and foreign policy and can make room for more moderate voices in politics. But he holds little power compared with the authority that the constitution gives Khamenei. If Khamenei is willing to end international pressure over Iran’s nuclear program, Rouhani provides the perfect opportunity.” Read more.

‘Merciless’ Hassan Rouhani Bragged About Deceiving The West Over Iranian Nuclear Program – “‘For 16 years starting in 1989, Mr. Rohani served as secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. ‘Climate Of Fear’: Christians Worried As Upsurge Of Islamist Attacks Continue To Shake Niger

06/18/2013 Leave a comment

Charisma News – “Four attacks within the last three weeks in Niger have raised the specter of a growing Islamist threat in the country.

In the latest attack on Tuesday, unidentified armed men attacked a paramilitary barracks on the outskirts of Niamey, the capital.

At the time of writing, Niger authorities have not made any announcement, but local media say there were no casualties and the attackers managed to flee.

On May 23, two suicide attacks in the north of the country targeted a military base in Agadez and a French-run uranium mine in Arlit, respectively.

The Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (Mujao) and the Signed-in-Blood Battalion (two Islamist groups active in Mali) claimed responsibility for the attacks, which left 36 dead—most of them soldiers—and threatened further violence.

Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou said the insurgents came from neighbouring southern Libya.

On June 1, more than 20 prisoners escaped from the main detention center in Niamey, the capital, following an attack that Niger authorities attributed to members of Boko Haram, an Islamist sect operating in neighbouring Nigeria.

Among the escapees was Malian-born Cheïbane Ould Hama, a suspected Islamist leader serving a 20-year prison sentence for the murder of four Saudis in 2009. Hama is known for his involvement in the assassination of William Bultemeier, a U.S. military liaison officer, in Niamey in December 2000 and the kidnap of Canadian-born U.N. diplomat Robert Fowler in Niger in 2009.

The recent attacks have come in the middle of the French troop withdrawal from Mali, four months after recapturing northern cities Timbuktu and Gao from Islamist insurgents.

The French-led military intervention enabled them to dismantle the militants’ main base in the Ifoghas Mountains in northeastern Mali, near the Algeria border.

A French army spokesman in Mali told media that more than 400 jihadists have been killed and 100 captured since the beginning of the operation in January. An undetermined number of militants have fled to southern Libya via Algeria and Niger, he said.

Local sources say the upsurge in attacks has set a climate of fear in Niamey. Authorities have reinforced security across the capital, with checkpoints near strategic offices and areas around Western embassies.

‘The militants’ activity is a global threat that goes beyond Niger,’ Reverend Kimso Boureima, president of the Alliance of Missions and Evangelical Churches in Niger, told World Watch Monitor.” Read more.

Somalia: Christian Woman Imprisoned, Tortured By Muslim Extremists For Doing Christian Work

06/18/2013 1 comment

All Christian News – “According to reports, another Christian woman has been imprisoned recently in Somalia, where Sunni Islam is the official religion and where there is a widespread assumption that all Somalis are born Muslims.

Apparently the woman, known only as ‘Fatima,’ was arrested on Monday, May 27, for taking part in underground Christian work for the last 10 years.

Reports say that she has been beaten, questioned and tortured by Somali authorities and the authorities say that they will keep her in prison for three months.

Fatima’s exact location is not known, and she is not allowed to use her cell phone or have any contact with anyone outside the prison.

Somalia, which has not had a functioning government since 1991, has been experiencing continuous conflict, especially with Christians, for more than 10 years, and is reportedly the most corrupt country in the world.

With Sunni Islam being the official religion of Somalia and no official religious freedom allowed, if you’re not Muslim then you’re likely to be a target for violent attacks.

According to reports 99.7 percent of the population of Somalia, around 8 million, are Muslims with 0.3 percent being Christian.

Somali Christians have to go underground and worship in secret because Islamic radical groups, like the al-Shabab group, have openly stated that they will rid Somalia of all Christians.” Read more.

Germany: Muslim Man Wielding Knives And A Qur’an Threatens Non-Muslims In Hamburg

06/18/2013 1 comment

As threatening as knives are, they are not the real menace. A knife can impair the body, but the Qur’an impairs the mind …

Qur’an Sura 48:29a, “Mohammed is [Allah’s] apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers …”

Qur’an Sura 8:12b, “… terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.”

Qur’an Sura 25:52, “Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness …”

By Presseportal.de via Islam verses Europe – “Officers from police station 11 have provisionally arrested a 24-year-old from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) on suspicion of threatening with a knife. The civil protection bureau in the state criminal office has taken over the investigation.

According to what has so far been discovered, the suspect entered a tent associated with the registered demonstration ‘Lampedusa refugees’ in Steindamm, sat at a table and sang. After a short time he stepped in front of the tent and drew two knives. This led a 47-year-old man, who was standing in front of the tent, to feel threatened. The suspect then went to the subway station Hauptbahnhof-Süd and encountered a Hamburg Rail employee. The suspect circled the 30-year-old, holding a book in one hand and a knife in the other, and shouted ‘Allahu Akbar!’. While doing this he continually moved the blade of the knife across the ground, as if he wanted to sharpen it. As the suspect again approached the 30-year-old in a threatening manner with the knife, the injured party fled in the direction of the central bus station and informed the police.

When the two police officers reached the scene, they encountered the suspect, who held two knives in his hands and several times shouted ‘Allahu Akbar!’.

The officers arrested the 24-year-old on a provisional basis. Both knives (kitchen knives) were secured. During his arrest, a Koran fell out of the suspect’s jacket pocket.” Read more.

Hardcore Islamists Teaching Qur’an Lessons Online To Muslim Children ‘Scattered All Over The World’

06/18/2013 1 comment

By Jon Boone, The Guardian – “With his track record as a member of the political arm of a banned terrorist organisation, Mian Shahzib is unlikely to ever be given a visa to enter Britain.

But that does not stop the jovial 33-year-old from giving British children religious instruction every day from the comfort of his home in Pakistan.

He spends hours each night sitting under a fluorescent light in the courtyard of a small mosque in Lahore, peering into a laptop as children first from the Middle East, then Europe and North America spend half an hour after school talking to him over a faltering Skype line. ‘Put on your cap and wash your hands,’ he told a 12-year-old boy sitting in a large office chair in his parents’ home in Edinburgh.

After checking the boy had memorised various prayers to get him through the day, including a special blessing for exiting and entering the toilet, he got down to business, helping the boy read aloud the classical Arabic of a few verses of the Qur’an.

The fact that a hardcore Islamist and long-term follower of the UN-proscribed Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) has daily access to children in the west is likely to fuel concerns about religious radicals spreading their message.

Shahzib’s website, Easy Qur’an Memorising, makes no mention of his history and is one of hundreds of such online companies, some of which advertise on satellite channels broadcasting to the Pakistani diaspora. They are part of a little-known outsourcing boom fuelled by parents of Pakistani origin turning to Qur’an teachers in Pakistan. ‘It’s just like a call centre where you are saving a lot of money by getting someone overseas to do it much more cheaply,’ said Fawad Rana, a property developer in Solihull who has used Qur’an teachers for his two sons for the past three years.

Rana makes an online payment of £30 a month to Faiz-e-Quran, one of the larger online religious education companies, which gets his children three half-hour sessions a week.

‘And there’s the convenience factor – the last thing kids want to do is spend half an hour travelling to the nearest mosque and then not even getting 10 minutes of one-on-one tuition,’ he said.

Although Faiz-e-Quran say it takes care to scrutinise and monitor all the teachers it employs, the industry is increasingly dominated by one-man operations. After several years working on his business, Shahzib now has about a dozen students aged 12 to 18 scattered all over the world. It’s a long way from his past role as an activist with JuD, a Pakistani Islamist organisation known for its holy war against Indian rule in the contested region of Kashmir.

The organisation is on the UN’s list of sanctioned organisations because of its alleged association with al-Qaida and is considered a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group behind the 2008 terrorist attacks on Mumbai.” Read more.
