By Michael Curtis, American Thinker – “On August 22, 1939, Adolf Hitler, explaining his decision to invade Poland, asked, ‘Who after all speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?’

On the centennial of the massacre of the Armenians by the Ottoman Empire, it is pertinent to ask, sixty-five years later, if the world is sufficiently aware of the persecutions of Christians, discrimination against them, the lack of respect shown for freedom of religion, and indeed the possible end of Christianity in the Arab and Muslim countries of the Middle East.

Certainly the World Council of Churches, Churches for Middle Peace, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and leaders of mainstream Protestant churches, all preoccupied with alleged violations of human rights by the State of Israel, seem to be unaware of, or pay little attention to, the fate of the mosaic of Christian communities in those Arab and Muslim countries.  It is baffling that these organizations are so unconcerned with the ethnic cleansing, being carried out by Islamists, of Christians.

These organizations and the Western mainstream mass media ignore the fact that the Christian communities in Middle East countries, except in Israel, have been declining rapidly, partly because of low birth rates and emigration, but largely because of discrimination and persecution by Muslims.  They disregard the current dilemma that 15 million Christians in the Middle East are facing 300 million Muslims and the growing threat of Islamist extremists.

The problem is not new.  Christians have long suffered discrimination, violence, persecution, and deportation in all Middle Eastern countries, and this continues today in all countries of the area except Israel.  There are countless examples of that persecution.  On October 31, 2010, after hostages were taken, a massacre occurred in the Syriac Catholic Cathedral in Baghdad, with 58 killed and 75 wounded.  The bombing of the Coptic (Christian) Church in Alexandria, Egypt killed 21 and injured 79 worshipers.

The plight today of Christians in Syria and Iraq – in the Mosul area, Orthodox or Catholic, Assyrians or Chaldeans – is a reminder and a warning of what happened exactly a century ago.

The present persecution recalls the sad story of massacres and what can rightfully be called genocide, even before the term was coined, of Armenians, Assyrians, and Pontic and Anatolian Greeks, committed by the Muslims of the Ottoman Empire.” Read more.

‘Terrifying’: 150 Million Christians Suffering At Hands Of Muslims Have Reached ‘Biblical Proportions’ – “‘The number of persecuted Christians in the world is 150 million.’ There are many other figures, terrifying and dramatic, in the pages of the ‘Blackbook of the plight of Christians in the world’, a unique initiative of French scholars and coordinated by journalist Samuel Lieven. Snapshots of a global and amorphous war. In particular, there is a disconcerting statistic: ’80 percent of the acts of religious persecution in the world are directed against Christians.’ How many victims? The Center for the Study of Global Christianity brings the average of one hundred thousand Christians killed each year for their faith throughout the last decade. Terrorism Expert: The Middle East Is Experiencing ‘A Christian Version Of The Holocaust And Nothing Less’ – “International media remain apathetic to Christian persecution in the Middle East. Speaking on ‘Breitbart News Saturday’ Dr. Sebastian Gorka addressed the subject after being asked by the host, Alex Marlow, why the press is not interested in the story. Before Gorka gave his answer he called the situation ‘a Christian version of the Holocaust and nothing less.’ Gorka then went on to say that the West has done much to stand up for Muslims in the past two decades. ‘Whether it was to save the Muslims in Bosnia or the Albanians, Kosovars, and Muslims in Serbia, it is now time for a humanitarian operation to save the remaining Christians in Iraq,’ he said.” Read more.

For peaceful purposes. According to Islam, it isn’t suicide when Muslims kill themselves while killing others. In fact, it’s not even terrorism. It’s simply jihad …

“Moderate” Islamic Website: “The Islamic Fiqh Academy stresses that martyr operations [suicide bombings] are a form of jihad, and carrying out those operations is a legitimate right that has nothing to do with terrorism or suicide. Those operations become obligatory when they become the only way to stop the aggression of the enemy, defeat it, and grievously damage its power.” – Faysal Mawlawi, Consultant for On Islam

The Patriot – “A suicide bomber disguised in school uniform detonated explosives at a high school assembly in the northeast Nigerian city of Potiskum on Monday, killing at least 78 students, according to survivors and a morgue attendant.

Soldiers rushed to the scene, grisly with body parts, in the capital of Yobe state, but they were chased away with stones and calls by people angry at the military’s inability to halt a five-year-old Islamic insurgency that has killed thousands and driven hundreds of thousands from their homes.

A suicide bomb attack in the same city killed 30 people one week ago, when suspected Boko Haram fighters attacked a religious procession of moderate Muslims.

Some 2,000 students had gathered for Monday morning’s weekly assembly at the Government Technical Science College when the explosion blasted through the school hall, according to survivors who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of repercussions.

“We were waiting for the principal to address us, around 7:30 am, when we heard a deafening sound and I was blown off my feet, people started screaming and running, I saw blood all over my body,” 17-year-old student Musa Ibrahim Yahaya said from the general hospital, where he was being treated for head wounds.

Hospital workers said dozens are being treated including people with serious injuries that may need amputations.

A morgue attendant said 48 bodies were brought to the hospital and all appeared to be between the ages of 11 and 20 years old. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to give information to reporters.” Read more.

Leader of Boko Haram: “I swear by Allah’s holy name that I will slaughter you. I will not be happy if I don’t personally put my knife on your necks and slit your throats. Yes! I’ll slaughter you! I’ll slaughter you! And I’ll slaughter you again and again… I call on all my followers and brethren wherever you are, to rise and take up arms and start killing the vagabond. Kill them, kill them and kill them… By Allah, I will kill you. Killing is my job. Let’s kill them all … May Allah curse you!”

Flashback: Nigeria: ‘Proud Soldiers Of Allah’ Vows To Take Down Government And Destroy Christianity, ‘We Will Devour You … Our Joy Is To Die In Jihad’ – “‘You, Jonathan, cannot stop us; instead we will devour you in the three months like you are boasting … We are proud soldiers of Allah; we will never give up as we fight the infidels. Open Doors – “Boko Haram have raised their flag over Mubi, Adamawa State’s second largest town and commercial hub, after seizing it on Wednesday 29 October. They have renamed the town ‘Madinatul Islam’, which means ‘City of Islam’. ‘The situation for believers trapped in Mubi is too terrible for ears to hear,’ writes Open Doors researcher Isaac.

Some who managed to escape Mubi told Isaac that Boko Haram are burning churches and forcing trapped Christians to convert to Islam. Many who refused to convert are being tortured in an effort to make them renounce their faith in Jesus, and a number of them have been stoned to death.

Isaac was also told that Muslims who were found ‘wanting in terms of sharia’ have also been killed. The witness confirmed reports of public amputations for those accused of looting.

Isaac has travelled to the area to encourage refugees fleeing Mubi and to assess their needs. ‘We are at the moment with some of the fleeing refugees, but the fear and uncertainty are making things difficult.’

Those fleeing Mubi face difficult conditions on the road. Gift Ugo told Vanguard, a local newspaper, that she ran into the bush during the attack where she spent four days without food. She survived by drinking water from streams.

Another, Rebecca Teri, told Vanguard, ‘We started running and in the process, I lost contact with my husband and seven year old daughter.’ She has still not found them.

Many of the refugees have headed to Yola, but the mood there is sombre. Boko Haram have threatened to capture the town, which is causing great fear. Others are trying to escape to Cameroon.” Read more.

Yesterday, in Pakistan, two Christians, including a pregnant woman, were burnt alive in the brick kiln where they worked. It was a pogrom with the participation of four hundred Muslims.

Haim Korsia, Chief Rabbi of France, cries out his reaction in the face of the spread of hatred against Christians, and establishes a comparison with the destruction of Eastern Sephardic Jewry:

‘Where are the Jewish communities once so rich of Aleppo, Beirut, Alexandria, Cairo or Tripoli? Where are the schools of Nehardea and Pumbedita in Iraq? And where is the flourishing of Judaism in Esfahan and Tehran? In our memory. Driven out, killed, decimated, persecuted and exiled, the Christians of the East are personally experiencing the same plight as the Jews with whom they have lived for so long and have seen leaving those places’.

The NGO Open Doors declared that the persecution in Iraq has reached ‘biblical proportions’. Tuesday, in Rome, the annual report of Aid to the Church in Need was also presented. It told that of the 20 countries in the world where religious freedom is virtually absent, 14 are Muslim, and the others military or communist dictatorships, such as North Korea.

We are facing what Habib Malik of Stanford University calls ‘the final phase of the regional decline of Christians.'” Read more.
