Leading it was Robert Bernstein, formerly chairman of Random House and founder of Human Rights Watch, who is now the chairman of Advancing Human Rights. He was joined by the publisher at Amazon, the publisher of Simon and Schuster, a Reuters editor-at-large, the editorial director of Broadside Books (HarperCollins), and other prominent publishers.

Though I believe that NatGeo should wait until after the election to show a documentary that is likely skewed politically, they’re making the right choice to stand firm against Islamist threats …

By IAN MOHR, New York Post – “The National Geographic Channel has beefed up security at its Washington headquarters after being ‘bombarded’ by threats over its upcoming film, ‘SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden,’ a source said yesterday.

The movie has prompted enough threats from what one source called ‘Muslim extremist groups’ that the network felt it had to take the action.

‘They have been bombarded with phone calls and blog posts, saying that anyone airing a film like this is asking for trouble,’ the source added.

‘Enough threats have come in that the network is on higher security alert. They have a huge public building, with a museum and 1,600 people working.’

The network was already receiving sharp criticism for its decision to debut the feature-length TV movie Nov. 4, two days before the presidential election. Critics charged the timing was calculated to boost President Obama’s campaign.

The film’s distributor is staunch Obama supporter Harvey Weinstein. The channel, also called NatGeo, denied that accusations.

A rep for National Geographic said only that the channel will air the film ‘no matter what,’ adding, ‘We are big believers in the First Amendment.’

A source told The Post that the reaction is far from what NatGeo is used to.

‘They’ve never seen such a dramatic reaction. It’s not like there’s outrage over airing a documentary on the Grand Canyon,’ the source said.” Source – New York Post.

Ahram Online – “The latest draft of the constitution does not reflect what was agreed by the Constituent Assembly, Salafist assembly member Yasser Borhamy said Tuesday.

Several articles that had been agreed upon by the assembly, and others that had been suggested for inclusion, had been removed from the latest draft, Borhamy said via a statement on the Salafist Nour Party’s Facebook page.

‘We will not compromise on several of the removed articles,’ Borhamy said, especially those relating to rights and freedoms.

He added that rights and freedoms should only be protected under the constitution if they do not ‘violate society’s norms.’ He did not elaborate on what those norms were.

He said some freedoms should be restricted to prevent other norms from being violated.

Borhamy further complained that freedom of religious belief, which was left unrestricted by the new draft, might lead to ‘devil worship or apostasy from Islam.’

He said Salafists would hold mass demonstrations if Article 2 of the constitution was not changed. Salafists have been pressing hard for ‘Islamic Sharia’ to be the main source of legislation in Egypt, rather than the ‘principles of Islamic Sharia’ as currently stated by the article.

‘Those who voted for President Morsi only chose him so he would apply Islamic Sharia,’ he claimed.” Read more.

It is evident that the reader decided to conduct a social studies experiment and see what sort of reaction Israeli Flags would provoke among the students at Fordson High in Dearborn Michigan. He wasn’t disappointed. The mere sight of the flags resulted in a violent response from these ‘All American High Schoolers’.

On 9-14-2012 Dearborn Fordson High School principal called the police on me for driving with 2 Israeli flags on my truck.

The Dearborn police were one car behind me when this student threw a bottle on my windshield. The police did not stop the student, but instead stopped me for 30 minutes asking me why I would display Israeli flags on my truck.

The Fordson High principal filed an incident report and so did I. However, Dearborn police refuse to release either report.

Flashback: Dearborn Muslim Sentenced After Attempting To Run Down Christians – “Mike Mohamad Agemy, who drove his SUV at a group of Christian demonstrators in front of the Islamic Center of America on June 17, won’t be headed to trial… Agemy pleaded to two lesser charges of aggravated assault, which each carry a sentence of up to six months in jail. Somers sentenced him two years’ probation, an anger-management class of about 12 weeks and $1,150 in fines and court costs… Agemy, 47, initially was charged with seven counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of reckless driving.” Read more.

Some Islamic apologists claimed the companies were reacting to a problem that was entirely imaginary and, in reality, Muslims were not so primitive that they would be offended by the mere display of another religion’s symbols. Now we see that, in fact, they are.

The last advertising campaign of the Swiss transporter has not gone unnoticed. On large-format advertising hoards in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, the Swiss flag appears accompanied by the slogan “Kreuz ist Trumpf”. This means literally “The cross is an advantage”, or “clubs are trumps” for aficionados of jass, the traditional card game. A double meaning that not everyone has been able to grasp.

The Muslims of Switzerland have reacted sharply to this image. On some forums, the internet users are indignant about the fact that Swiss is thus making reference to the “cross” and not the “Swiss cross”, reports “Der Sonntag”. The vehemence of the internet users is not a surprise to the Turkish journalist Cemil Baysal. Not long after the emotion caused in the Muslim world by the film “Innocence of Muslims”, “many Muslims feel this slogan is a provocation and an attack against Islam”.

Swiss, for its part, has given an assurance that its campaign contains no religious or political message.

By Lori Hinnant, The Washington Times – “SARCELLES, France — The gunshots outside a synagogue and the grenade that shattered the windows of a kosher grocery spread fear into the streets – but caused little surprise.

Jews across France say anti-Semitic threats have escalated since a deadly assault on a Jewish school in the southwestern town of Toulouse this spring. The attack on the grocery store in the Paris suburb of Sarcelles and the shooting outside the synagogue in nearby Argenteuil came in late September.

In all cases, police suspect Muslim extremists. The Toulouse attacker was a Frenchman trained by Islamist terrorists.

Anti-terrorist police killed one man and arrested 11 in raids this month against an Islamist cell suspected in the Sarcelles attack.

French Jews believe the danger comes from radical messages that appeal to young Muslims in France who are unemployed, angry, alienated and looking for someone to blame.

France has struggled to address the problem head-on because of the social sensitivities.

President Francois Hollande has promised the head of an umbrella group of Muslim organizations that the government would not stigmatize all Muslims for anti-Semitic acts committed by a radical fringe.

Interior Minister Manuel Valls urged respect for all religions in a country that has Western Europe’s largest Jewish and Muslim communities. France has about 5 million Jews and 500,000 Muslims.

‘These are not terrorist networks that come from outside. They are from our neighborhoods,’ Mr. Valls said on the TF1 television network.” Read more.

In the wake of the latest spate of Islamic rage operations, Yves Calvi, one of our most decent journalists, made an honest effort to squarely face the question. Though he tried as usual to include a broad range of guests, the September 24th broadcast of his political discussion program ‘Mots Croisés’ was a mismatch, with philosopher Alain Finkielkraut fending off a barrage of accusations from all sides. Accusations, of course, against us, not against Islam.

The very possibility that Islam might be a problem was evacuated early on. The majority of Muslims in France are law-abiding well-integrated members of society. The proof? French Muslims did not react violently to Charlie Hebdo’s caricatures of Muhamed. Consequently, the problem is not Islam and Islam is not a problem. The problem is the failure of French society to integrate immigrants and make them feel at home. The problem is the stigmatization of Muslim immigrants down to the third and fourth generation, relegated to ghettoes, victims of discrimination in the job market, subjected to humiliating ID controls, constantly suspected of criminality.

Clémentine Autain of the Front de Gauche [The Left Front, ed.] extended the humiliation argument to its outer limits. Those immigrants had to put up with the debate on national identity, the burqa ban, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the festering Israel-Palestinian crisis. Finkielkraut and Socialist politician Julian Dray managed to squeeze in a few words about anti-Semitism without really linking it to Islam or stemming the tide of criticism of French society.

Finkielkraut gave a subtle explanation for this studied reluctance to entertain the notion that Islam in and of itself might be a problem by citing the case of his colleague Robert Redeker, a philosophy professor who has been in hiding and under police protection since he published an unvarnished reflection on Islam in the Figaro daily in September 2006.

Asked for reactions to a proposed Qatari investment of 50 million euros in the banlieues (suburbs), Calvi’s guests were almost unanimously opposed to what seems like foreign interference in domestic affairs. But, argued Rama Yade, who served as Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs in the Sarkozy government, we have to ask why Qatar would step in. It’s because we have neglected the banlieues. Aside from the fact that this is not true, it does not explain the warlike behavior that actually provokes the question Islam, where is the problem?

Latifa ibn Ziaten, the bereaved mother of the first parachutist killed by Mohamed Merah [the French-Algerian terrorist who murdered four men and three children in Toulouse in March of this year, ed.], contends that her son Imad is a war casualty, targeted and killed solely because he was in the service. The Defense Department refuses, on the grounds that he was not on duty when he was shot. Merah lured Imad into an ambush by pretending he was interested in buying the scooter the parachutist had advertised online. Merah’s ‘home movie’ shows Imad, who refused the order to kneel, standing upright and looking his killer in the eyes.

Calvi ran an excerpt of a TV interview of the soft-spoken dignified grieving mother. Tears flow as she tells how she found the courage one day to visit the neighborhood where Merah grew up. By Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu – “The radical Islamic Revolution is encroaching on Israeli cities and scares none other than secular Arabs in the ‘Triangle’ area near Netanya.

Arabs with Israeli citizenship in the city of Tira fear it will become a second Umm el Fahm, the home of the radical Islamic Movement’s northern branch and located between Afula and the Mediterranean Coast north of Netanya.

Many, if not most, of Tira Arabs are considered ‘liberal secularists,’ but Army Radio reported Sunday that they are frightened by the takeover of several schools by supporters of the Islamic Movement.

Islamic flags have been flying over some schools, and residents said that a Muslim cleric, local Islamic Movement leader Abdel Rahman Kishua, preached in a local mosque in favor of beating women. Despite vocal opposition, the clerics said, ‘Islamic law allows it.’

Speaking from Mecca, where he is visiting, Kishua denied a charge that he beat a woman in Tira and that he preached violence.

The mayor of Tira, Maamon Abdelchai, denied that radical Psalmists are taking over the city and instead praised them for helping out Arab residents who are facing economic difficulties.

The tactic of winning support of poorer people by supplying them with social and educational needs has been highly successful in the Hamas and Hizbullah terrorist organizations. Hizbullah has effectively become the de facto government in southern Lebanon after years of taking care of the Shi’ite Muslim population. ” Source – INN.

Not only does an Islamic ideology continually and completely cloud the logical sensibilities of what should otherwise be intelligent thinkers, it has even made some of them hysterically (and historically) harebrained. When speaking about the Holocaust can serve a specific purpose, Islamists will refer to it as if it were an historical fact. When speaking about the Holocaust does not serve a specific purpose, however, it offends them. Because, all of a sudden, the Holocaust is nothing more than a Western fabrication …

By Jennifer O’Mahony, The Telegraph – “A protest by 10,000 Muslims outside the offices of Google in London today is just the first in an orchestrated attempt to force the company to remove an anti-Islamic film from website YouTube in Britain.

Thousands had travelled from as far afield as Glasgow to take part in the demonstration, ahead of a planned million-strong march in Hyde Park in coming weeks.

Anger over ‘The Innocence of Muslims’, an American-produced film which insults the Prophet Mohammad and demeans Muslims, according to protesters, remains available to watch on the website YouTube, a subsidiary of Google.

Organiser Masoud Alam said: ‘Our next protest will be at the offices of Google and YouTube across the world. We are looking to ban this film.

‘This is not freedom of expression, there is a limit for that. This insult of the Prophet will not be allowed.

The group’s next action was a march Mr Alam hoped would be ‘a million strong’ would take place in Hyde Park ‘in the next few weeks’, he said.

‘Until it is banned we will keep protesting,’ he added…

Speeches by more than a dozen imams in a mixture of Arabic, Urdu, and English urged Muslims to honour the name of the Prophet and not to back down in the face of Google’s continuing reluctance to act, and were met with passionate cries of ‘God is Great’ and ‘Mohammad is the Prophet of God’ in Arabic.” Read more.

Saudi Arabia Calls For Global Internet Censorship To Prevent ‘Insults’ To Islam And Mohammed – “In a submission to forthcoming international talks on internet governance, the Gulf state said ‘there is a crying need for international collaboration to address ‘freedom of expression’ which clearly disregards public order’. During the controversy over a 14-minute clip posted on YouTube and purportedly a trailer for a feature film called ‘The Innocence of Muslims’, Google resisted pressure, including from the White House, to remove it. ‘This video – which is widely available on the web – is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube,’ Google said last month.” Read more.
