Qur’an Sura 4:34, “Men have authority over women because [Allah] has made the one superior to the other… Good women are obedient… As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them…”

And if they don’t obey you, things will surely be taken to a whole new level …

Every society has its defects and its charms. Palestinian identity has its charms, but there are things that we have adopted from Arab culture for centuries that harm the individual and the woman. For example, in recent months, look how many women were killed in Lod, in Ramle, and in Acre, and so on. That’s part of our identity.”

By Nathan Rao – “A CHILDREN’S play centre was at the centre of a sexism row last night after banning fathers from the premises to avoid offending Muslim women.

Kids Go Wild is Britain’s first toddler group to introduce a women-only policy. Managers defended the decision, claiming that Muslim mothers welcomed it for ‘cultural reasons’.

But it has angered both Muslims and non-Muslims and led the Equality and Human Rights Commission to investigate after dozens of fathers complained.

One father turned away from the centre branded the move ‘disgusting’ and ‘sexist’.

He said: ‘To turn me away because I’m a man is against the Equality Act.’

A poster outside the centre, in the predominantly Asian [Muslim] area of Sparkhill, Birmingham, reads: ‘Ladies and children only. No boys over nine allowed.’ The newly-formed group advertises itself as ‘the UK’s first ladies and children’s only soft play centre’.

Muslim mother-of-one Ruksana Ayub said: ‘I understand why women would want a place like this where there are no men. They won’t feel they have to cover up so they might feel more able to relax and to socialise. But I’m quite modern in my outlook, so I also find it quite shocking that men aren’t allowed in. It’s a shame for kids who don’t have a mum.'” Read more.

The fact that the Obama Administration would do the exact same thing if they could get away with it speaks volumes about the state of the “Land of the Free” today …

USA Today – “CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian court ordered the Saturday editions of a newspaper confiscated over allegations it insulted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi and instigated sectarian discord, Egypt’s official news agency said.

Editions of Al-Dustour, a privately owned daily, were seized after several individuals filed lawsuits accusing it of ‘fueling sedition’ and ‘harming the president through phrases and wording punishable by law,’ MENA said.

It was not clear whether the paper was barred from publishing completely. Newspaper al-Masry al-Youm said authorities have removed al-Dustour from newsstands.

The paper, a tabloid owned by a Christian businessman, has been fiercely critical of Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood while showing strong support for the military council, which took power after the ouster of Hosni Mubarak in last year’s uprising. Both Morsi and the military council are in midst of power struggle.

Saturday’s edition featured a lengthy front-page article warning of a Brotherhood ’emirate’ seizing Egypt and calling on Egyptians to join ranks with the military to confront Islamists. The lawsuits also accuse the paper of inflammatory coverage of recent sectarian violence.” Read more.

AP – “CAIRO — Egypt’s Islamist president ordered his defense minister and chief of staff to retire on Sunday and canceled the military-declared constitutional amendments that gave top generals wide powers.

It was not immediately clear whether the decision had the military’s blessing. Morsi has been in a power struggle with the military since he came to power on June 30. Shortly before he was announced the winner of elections, the ruling military council that took power after Hosni Mubarak’s ouster stripped the presidency of many of its key powers.

Morsi also appointed a senior judge, Mahmoud Mekki, as vice president. All decisions are effective immediately.

Outgoing Defense Minister Hussein Tantawi headed the ruling military council for 17 months after Mubarak’s ouster in February 2011. Before that, he was defense minister for nearly two decades under Mubarak. The military council’s No. 2, Chief of Staff Sami Annan, was also ordered to retire. But both men were appointed advisers to Morsi, according to state television.

Presidential spokesman Yasser Ali said told a news conference aired on state TV that Morsi named a career army officer, Lt. Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, to replace Tantawi and Lt. Gen. Sidki Sayed Ahmed to replace Annan.

Morsi also ordered the retirement of the commanders of the navy, air defense and air force. The retired navy commander, Lt. Gen. Mohan Mameesh, was named as chairman of the Suez Canal, the strategic waterway linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean and a major source of revenues for the country.” Source – The Washington Post.

“Modena, 10 Aug. (AKI) – Italian police have charged a Moroccan man for recently severely injuring his daughter when he beat her in a shopping mall in northern Italy for not wearing a veil.

As a minor, a restraining order had been placed on the woman’s family when she reported a difficult living situation to family services, according to the Gazzetta di Modena newspaper.

Trouble started when her refusal to don a veil and accept an arranged marriage, the paper said.

Recently turned 18, in a Modena shopping mall ran into her father who beat her with kicks and punches breaking her nose.” Source – IGN.

France: Woman Lifts Veil Because She Is Too Hot, Husband Breaks Her Jaw – “A man violently struck his wife last Thursday because she removed her veil. The courts have just sentenced him to 2 years, including 6 months without remission. The young 24-year-old woman and her husband were on holiday in Marseilles. When they were leaving a supermarket, the wife, no longer able to bear the heat, lifted her veil back up. Her husband found the sight of her naked neck intolerable and punched her several times until her nose was broken.” Source – Islam Verses Europe.
