AFP – “Palestinians in Gaza celebrated on Sunday, as Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi was named winner of Egypt’s presidential election, with Hamas hailing a ‘historic moment.’

And the Palestinian Authority in charge of the West Bank issued its own congratulations to Morsi, who is set to become Egypt’s first post-uprising president.

Senior Hamas official Mahmud Zahar told AFP that the victory was ‘a historic moment and a new era in the history of Egypt,’ as Gazans cheered and fired volleys of celebratory gunfire in the streets of the Palestinian territory.

The Hamas Islamist movement that rules the Gaza Strip has long-standing ties with the Muslim Brotherhood, and grew from the Egyptian organisation that saw its candidate win 51.73 percent of the vote to defeat ex-prime minister Ahmed Shafiq.

Zahar called Morsi’s victory ‘a defeat for the programme of normalisation and security cooperation with the enemy,’ referring to Israel.” Read more.

White House Congratulates Egypt’s Morsi, Looks Forward To Advancing ‘Many Shared Interests’  – “The White House congratulated Egypt’s president-elect Mohamed Morsi on his victory in that country’s presidential election, calling it a ‘milestone’ in the country’s transition to democracy. President Obama called Morsi Sunday evening, telling him that the United States would stand by Egypt in its transitional period — and said that he looked forward to working together. ‘We look forward to working together with President-elect Morsi and the government he forms, on the basis of mutual respect, to advance the many shared interests between Egypt and the United States,’ press secretary Jay Carney said in a statement.” Read more.

She is an intellectual professor and lawyer who defends Islamic law. By Nonie Darwish – “While Egyptians inside Egypt were split in their vote in their recent election, Egyptians living in the West were overwhelmingly in support of the Islamist candidate. Indeed, many Egyptian Americans who have dual citizenship and are living in America voted at Egyptian consulates throughout the United States. They did so both in the primary Egyptian elections, which occurred a few weeks ago, and now in the recent final elections for president of Egypt between the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Mursi and the former Prime Minister, Ahmed Shafiq.

Both Alarabiya TV and Egyptian national TV reported that Egyptian immigrants voted 75% in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood candidate in the primary. Now in the final elections, again Egyptian immigrants voted over 75% for Mursi. If we consider the Christian Egyptian Americans who voted for the former prime minister of Egypt, the percentage of Muslim Egyptian Americans who voted for Islamists could have reached over 95%.

While voters inside Egypt are almost equally split 50/50 between Sharia and no-Sharia, we find the votes of American Egyptian Muslims reflecting an unprecedented level of radicalization that surpasses most Muslim countries. This should be very troubling to Americans, especially to those who care about Homeland Security.

Over the last 3 or 4 decades, American Islamic groups and mosques have managed to radicalize a large number of Muslim Americans, especially those who attend mosques. While they publicly tell us they are ‘moderate’ and that there is nothing to fear from Islamic law, they turn around in private and hold the banner of jihad and Sharia and command Muslim Americans not to assimilate in America.

Muslim immigrants to the West have, in general, rejected taking the hard role of positively changing their countries of origin and inspiring them with new ideas of freedom, democracy and human rights. Instead, Muslims in America have focused on building mosques with aid from Saudi Arabia rather than protesting against Iran’s execution of apostates and stoning of women. They have focused on defending and lying about Sharia in America rather than teaching values of life liberty and pursuit of happiness to their countrymen. They have focused on a message of anti-Semitism, blaming America and holding Israel apartheid weeks, rather than on assimilating in America, initiating peace dialogue or holding an olive branch out to Jewish students.” Read more.

Flashback: New Study Shows That 80% of Mosques in America Teach Jihad Violence and Islamic Supremacism – “… Then there was the Center for Religious Freedom’s 2005 study, and the Mapping Sharia Project’s 2008 study. Each independently showed that upwards of 80% of mosques in America were preaching hatred of Jews and Christians and the necessity ultimately to impose Islamic rule. And now comes yet more confirmation that mosques in the U.S. are teaching these things, and again the percentage is remarkably similar: around 80% of mosques are found to be teaching jihad warfare and Islamic supremacism. By Rachel Hirshfeld, INN – “Israel needs to come to terms with Turkey’s superpower status in the Middle East, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz said during a recent speech at the Washington Institute.

Mofaz highlighted the importance of mending diplomatic relations between the two countries, saying that doing so is ‘necessary for the strategic goals of Israel and for the strategic goals of Turkey.’

Turkey will become a ‘superpower in our region… There is no question about it,’ Mofaz stated. ‘We should have a strategic relationship with Turkey like we had in the past.’

Relations between the two countries had been becoming increasingly colder due to Erdogan’s policies, and Turkey supported the illegal Gaza flotilla of May 2010, which was an attempt to break Israel’s lawfully instituted naval blockade of Gaza. Israeli naval commandos boarded one of the flotilla ships, the Mavi Marmara, intending to divert the vessel in a peaceful manner, but were violently attacked by those aboard. Nine passengers were killed in the ensuing battle.

Turkey issued an indictment seeking life sentences for former IDF chief of staff Lt.-Gen. (res.) Gabi Ashkenazi and three other former senior commanders over their alleged involvement in the operation.” Read more.

By Richard Spencer, The Telegraph – “The state news agency announced that the President Election Commission was still reviewing appeals in last weekend’s count so would delay Thursday’s announcement.

‘We cannot announce when exactly the timing of the announcement of the Egypt election results will be because now we are at the stage of listening to the representatives,’ its secretary-general, Hatem Bagato, told the Reuters news agency.

‘The committee will meet afterwards to decide on whether to accept the appeals or not.’

The Muslim Brotherhood and most newspapers and independent panels claim that Mohammed Morsi, the leader of the Brotherhood’s political front the Freedom and Justice Party, won the count by a slim margin of just short of 52 per cent to 48 per cent.

An attempt to prevent him taking up office, following the army’s earlier announcement it was dissolving the Brotherhood-led parliament and taking over its powers, could trigger a potentially disastrous confrontation.

A Brotherhood spokesman, Mahmoud Ghozlan, had already warned earlier that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which has ruled Egypt since Hosni Mubarak’s overthrow last year, might be preparing to steal the election. He said that the refusal by Mr Morsi’s opponent, Ahmed Shafiq, a former general and Mubarak-era minister, to concede defeat and his insistence that he would be declared the victor raised suspicions that the army had ‘bad intentions’.

‘If Shafiq is declared the winner, this will make the coup clear,’ Mr Ghozlah, told the Saudi-backed newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat. ‘This encroachment on the result may lead to a confrontation between the people and the army’.” Read more.

“(Reuters) – The instructor of a college course that taught top military officers the United States was at war with Islam has been relieved of teaching duties and the course ordered redesigned to reflect U.S. policy, a military spokesman said on Wednesday.

The elective course at the National Defense University’s Joint Forces Staff College included a slide that asserted ‘the United States is at war with Islam and we ought to just recognize that we are war with Islam,’ Pentagon officials said in April as they launched a review of the course.

Colonel David Lapan, a spokesman for the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Wednesday a review of the course found that ‘institutional failures and in oversight and judgment’ led to the course being modified over time in a way ‘that portrayed Islam almost entirely in a negative way.’

‘The inquiry recommends the course be redesigned to include aspects of U.S. policy and reduce its reliance on external instruction,’ Lapan said in a statement. It also recommended improving oversight of course curricula.

‘The elective course’s military instructor has been relieved of his instructor duties until his permanent change of station, which was previously planned for 2012,’ Lapan said.” Read more.

He said it. I asked him about the Shiites, and he said that the Shiites are more dangerous to Islam than the Jews. He said so. I told him I want a president who is not afraid of America, and he said: ‘I am not afraid.'”
