By Soeren Kern, Gatestone Institute – “Police in Amsterdam have arrested the spokesperson of the Islamist group Sharia4Holland on charges of making death threats against the Dutch Freedom Party leader, Geert Wilders.

Abu Qasim was arrested after a speech he gave in Amsterdam’s central Dam Square on May 25 (video in Dutch here), when he warned that Wilders would be ‘dealt with’ once the Netherlands became an Islamic state.

Qasim also called Wilders ‘this dog of the Romans’ and — referring to the Dutch filmmaker and Islam critic who was murdered by a Dutch-Moroccan Muslim in 2004 — warned that Wilders should learn lessons from ‘the case of Theo van Gogh.’

Amsterdam’s multiculturally-minded police initially refused to intervene in the case. Although making death threats is a criminal offense in Holland, police instead arrested a passer-by who tried to challenge the Sharia4Holland speaker.

Qasim was not arrested until three days after the event, after local politician Robert Flos, speaking on AT5 television, asked Amsterdam’s left-wing mayor, Eberhard van der Laan, why city police did not intervene when Qasim threatened Wilders with death.

Qasim, a 29-year-old Islamist who lives in the central Dutch city of Woerden, is now scheduled to appear in court on July 11.

Sharia4Holland — and its Siamese twin Sharia4Belgium — is a radical Muslim movement that wants to impose Islamic Sharia law in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. Over the past several months, Sharia4Holland and Sharia4Belgium have become increasingly belligerent in their appeals to fellow Muslims to overthrow the democratic order in Europe.

Dutch Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten, in testimony to the Dutch Parliament on May 29, said that radical Muslims are becoming more provocative and activist and ‘there is a risk that Sharia4Holland supporters could cross the line and use violence.'” Read more.’

Flashback: Occupation Without Tanks or Soldiers: European ‘No-Go’ Zones for Non-Muslims Proliferating – “Islamic extremists are stepping up the creation of ‘no-go’ areas in European cities that are off-limits to non-Muslims. Many of the ‘no-go’ zones function as microstates governed by Islamic Sharia law. Host-country authorities effectively have lost control in these areas and in many instances are unable to provide even basic public aid such as police, fire fighting and ambulance services.” Read more.

Working to “encourage dialogue” and “promote justice and mutual understanding”, one would think that a group like the Council on American-Islamic Relations would be emphasizing the need to fully support the efforts of law enforcement, not hinder it …

“The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) recently held a ‘Know Your Rights’ presentation at the Islamic Center of Detroit in Detroit, Mich.

The presentation primarily focused on the rights of citizens and legal residents within American borders to have an attorney present while being questioned by local, state and federal law enforcement.

The session also focused on citizens and legal residents’ right to refuse answering invasive questioning by federal law enforcement agents pertaining to religious beliefs and practices.

CAIR-MI recently filed a federal lawsuit against Custom Border Protection (CBP), FBI and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for invasive religious questioning of Michigan Muslims…

Flashback: House Report Urges Justice Department To Cut Ties With CAIR – “The Department of Justice is being encouraged to follow in the footsteps of the FBI in cutting off all non-investigative ties to the country’s largest Muslim advocacy organization, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR)… In January 2009, the FBI ended its relationship with CAIR and its affiliates across the country due to the conviction of those involved in the Holy Land Foundation terrorist funding trial, in which CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator. Virginia Republican Rep. Frank Wolf, the bill’s sponsor, explained to The Daily Caller that with the FBI’s policy already in place it makes sense for DOJ to follow suit.” Read more.

By Raymond Ibrahim – “Saudi Arabians are angry at a McDonald’s toy which they say mocks their prophet Muhammad. According to a report appearing today (5/27/12) on the Arabic news website, Kermalkom.com, the McDonald’s fast food restaurant ‘abused the Prophet Muhammad by placing his name at the base of a toy that is being distributed as part of the Happy Meal, a toy which steps on the name ‘Muhammad.”

The toy consists of a blue superhero figurine (apparently a Power Ranger Samurai). It stands on one leg, and, when the lever is pressed, it pounds on the base with the other leg. According to the Saudis, the designs that appear all around the base, where the figurine stomps its foot, is really the name ‘Muhammad’ written several times in circles (click here for pictures).

The toy had been distributed a few days before Saudi children and their parents began to take note of the name. Soon thereafter, Saudi Muslims launched several campaigns against McDonald’s in ‘response to the savage attacks on the noble Prophet,’ under banners like ‘Help your Prophet!’ and ‘Together in support of the Prophet.’

Saudis, ‘demanding the strongest possible punishment for the restaurant’ and insisting that ‘they will not be silent until this is realized,’ further complained how such an obvious insult could pass the supervision of the management at McDonald’s.

In response, ‘Saudi McDonald’s’ has withdrawn the toy from all its restaurants, ‘in order to safeguard against any accusations or misunderstandings.'” Read more.

By Richard Spencer, The Telegraph – “The flames at Ahmed Shafiq’s offices are believed to have been started by the same young revolutionaries who overthrew Mr Mubarak and who have warned that they would not accept any of his former henchman as their president.

Mr Shafiq, a former air force general, essentially took day-to-day control of the Egyptian government last year as anti-Mubarak crowds gathered in Tahrir Square.

No one was was reported hurt after the demonstrators vandalised the Cairo offices and set them on fire.

‘There will be violence if Shafiq wins,’ Mohammed al-Daramali, of a group calling itself The Coalition to Rescue the Revolution, said at the weekend.

‘Shafiq’s place is prison, not the presidential chair.’

Mr Shafiq has said he will honour the revolution, but has refused to distance himself from his previous description of Mr Mubarak as his ‘role model’.

The army is braced for protests after the vote on June 16-17 and there is a high likelihood of trouble in the run-up. On Saturday, a verdict is due in Mr Mubarak’s trial on charges of murder and corruption, with anger likely to meet anything less than a heavy sentence.

In the final tally announced yesterday, Mohammed Mursi, leader of the Muslim Brotherhood front party, the Freedom and Justice Party, won 24.8 per cent of the votes, slightly ahead of Mr Shafiq with 23.7 per cent.” Read more.

Islamists in Egypt Blame Christians for Voting Against Muslim Brotherhood Candidate – “The official results of the first round of the Egyptian presidential elections were announced today, the run-off will be between Mohamed Morsy, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate, and Air Marshal Ahmad Shafik, Mubarak’s last PM, who served for less than one month during the revolution and before Mubarak was ousted. This results, which were expected since Friday, has enraged many Egyptians who feel that they are left with two options, each worst than the other, namely either going back to the Mubarak regime represented by Shafik or the Islamists who will drag Egypt into being another Afghanistan or Iran. Nasserist candidate Hamdeed Sabahy, favored by a great number of youth — especially those who participated in the 25 January Revolution, came in third. Many Islamists, fearing Shafik if he comes to power, especially after vowing to bring back order and security within one month of his election, are blaming Copts for voting for Shafik and bringing him to second place. Copts have been accused of being ‘traitors’ and ‘anti-revolutionary’ for voting to bring back the old regime.” Read more.

The News Tribe – “Kohistan: A tribal court in Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhunkhwa has handed down death penalty to six people, including four girls and two boy for dancing in a wedding party.

The Jirga issued a decree after a mobile phone video emerged of the six in a remote village.

AFP news agency said Pakistani authorities in the area said local clerics had ordered the punishment over allegations that the men and women danced and sang together in Gada village, in defiance of strict tribal customs that separate men and women at weddings.

‘It was decided that the men will be killed first, but they ran away so the women are safe for the moment. I have sent a team to rescue them and am waiting to hear some news,’ a police officer told the news agency, adding that the women had been confined to their homes.

‘This is tribal enmity. The video has been engineered to defame the tribe, he added'” Source – The News Tribe.

Not every Muslim is a terrorist. But virtually every terrorist is a Muslim. Bring up this inconvenient truth, and you’re automatically accused of “profiling” or being an “Islamophobe.” But, come on baby, this is one fact that even the spin doctors of Islam cannot give the Taqiyya twist …

“TRENTON, N.J. – New York City police did not violate New Jersey laws when they conducted surveillance of Muslim businesses, mosques and student groups, Gov. Chris Christie’s administration said Thursday following a three-month review, a finding that angered Muslim leaders who had sought a clampdown on the cross-border police operations.

The conclusion by Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa, a Christie appointee asked by the governor to look into the spying, means New Jersey Muslims have no state recourse to stop the New York Police Department from infiltrating student groups, videotaping mosque-goers or collecting their license plate numbers as they pray.

Such operations were part of a widespread NYPD program to collect intelligence on Muslim communities both inside New York and beyond. Undercover officers and informants eavesdropped in Muslim cafes and monitored sermons, even when there was no evidence of a crime. The result was that many innocent business owners, students and others were cataloged in police files…

‘It was basically an, ‘FYI, good Thursday afternoon, let it die in the media before the Memorial Day weekend,” said Mohamed El-Filali, executive director of the Islamic Center of Passaic County, across the Hudson River from New York…

‘I said to him it’s not only insulting, it’s offensive to our sense of justice …’

The Muslim leaders said they would consider all legal options, including renewed appeals for action by the U.S. Justice Department. A federal civil rights lawsuit has also been considered.” Read more.

Flashback: Mother of Homegrown NY Jihadist: ‘My Son Was a Normal American Guy … Then He Became a Muslim and He Changed’ – “Sosa said her son’s personality began to change after the then-teenager swapped salsa for Islam about five years ago. ‘My son was a normal American guy,’ she said. ‘He did what young people do. Then he became a Muslim and he changed.’ … When he started reading the Koran in 2001, Sosa wasn’t happy because she’s a Catholic, but she noted that ‘in beginning, he wasn’t a fanatic.’ ‘He prayed and went to the mosque,’ she said. Over time, he stopped writing and listening to salsa music and spent his days praying, reading and sleeping. If the prospect of having a nation now considered one of the world’s largest religious freedom offenders leading NATO wasn’t disconcerting enough, then consider the fact that Turkey —  a country whose own government even today continues to deny its responsibility for the genocide of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians, whose own media even today openly vilifies Christians and whose own Prime Minister even today makes the demonization of Israel a central feature of his political discourse — is actively working to double the size of its military, now “upgraded” with new technology that will allow Turkish warplanes and ships to target Israel as an enemy who must “pay the price.” If this doesn’t give us all cause for serious concern, then nothing will …

The heads of the 28 NATO member countries and other invited partner countries were in the United States for a two-day summit recently in Chicago. Several official announcements were made regarding NATO policy for the near future, including the Chicago Summit Declaration on Afghanistan; the Deterrence and Defense Posture Review; and the Summit Declaration on Defense Capabilities: Toward NATO Forces 2020.

Included was an acknowledgment from NATO’s leadership that recognizes the current economic difficulties of several of its members. Point five of the Deterrence and Defense Posture Review reads:

The current economic environment is a challenging one, as evidenced by recent reductions in many Allies’ defense budgets and the probability of further cuts. In particular, Allies recognize that the challenge of maintaining modern, effective conventional forces is especially acute in an era of limited budgets. Allies are committed to the maintenance of the full range of capabilities necessary to meet the Alliance’s level of ambition despite these financial difficulties, and are developing innovative approaches to cooperating in the development of our capabilities to help achieve this goal.

With the election of Monsieur Hollande in France, the commitment to saving the euro through austerity may be in jeopardy. Hollande, of the Socialist Party, is committed to a French withdrawal from Afghanistan ahead of the agreed 2014 date, and to raising top French income tax rates to 75 percent.

A further European economic stagnation that affects France and other major NATO members could reduce the fighting potential of the alliance, as defense budgets are being cut throughout the alliance.

Also, the United States continues to face economic difficulties. The economy of NATO’s wealthiest and most populous member only grew by only 2.2 percent in the first quarter of 2012.

Meanwhile Turkey, the first Islamic member of NATO – Albania joined the alliance in 2009 – continues to enjoy significant economic growth. Read more…

Times of Israel – “CAIRO (AP) — The Muslim Brotherhood made an early show of confidence as vote counting began in Egypt’s landmark presidential election on Thursday, saying its exit polls showed its candidate in the lead in the race to succeed ousted leader Hosni Mubarak.

Exit polls by several Arab television stations also suggested the Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi was ahead of the pack of 13 candidates. The reliability of the various exit surveys was not known, and a few hours after the end of two days of votes, only a tiny percentage of the ballots had been counted.

But the swiftness of the Brotherhood’s claim showed its eagerness to plant its flag and establish in the public eye that Morsi had at least won entry into a second round vote. There are five prominent candidates, but none is expected to win outright in the first round. A run-off between the two leading contenders would be held June 16-17.

The first truly competitive presidential election in Egypt’s history turned into a heated battle between Islamist candidates and secular figures rooted in Mubarak’s old regime. The most polarizing figures in the race were Morsi and former air force commander and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq, a veteran of Mubarak’s rule.

The Brotherhood is hoping for a presidential victory to seal its political domination of Egypt, which would be a dramatic turnaround from the decades it was repressed under Mubarak. It already holds nearly half of parliament, the largest bloc there, after victories in elections late last year.” Read more.

Egyptian Islamists Threaten Insurgency Should Secularists Win Egyptian Presidential Election – “On May 19, Islamic Jihad Organization member Shaykh Usamah Qasim took to the pages of Al-Misri al-Yawm to warn that Islamists would not tolerate a victory by any of the non-Islamist candidates. According to a translation provided by the Open Source Center: ‘… The victory of former prime minister Ahmad Shafiq or former Arab League chief Amr Musa in the coming presidential elections would lead some Islamic and non-Islamic groups to respond with ‘armed action.’ ‘Thus, the fate of any of them who reaches the presidency will be like that of former President Anwar al-Sadat, who was assassinated …'” Read more.
