Syed Soharwardy, founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, says a regulation change requiring Muslim women to remove their niqabs and burkas when swearing the oath to become a Canadian amounts to Muslim bashing.
From intimidating and bad-mouthing the Muslim faith and belittling the Koran and Muslim beliefs, he drew a parallel with the treatment of Jews in Germany.
‘Muslims are going through that situation right now that the Jews faced before the Holocaust,’ Soharwardy told CFCN TV in Alberta.
‘That was going on in Germany before the Holocaust, same thing is happening now about Muslims. So this is absolutely an alarming situation.’

What Lies Beneath: Team of Israeli and German Scientists Discover System of Deep Fresh Water Springs, New Life Forms on Dead Sea Floor

Deep beneath the sea bed of a body of water long believed incapable of sustaining life, Israeli scientists have found deep fresh water springs and German scientists have discovered microorganisms growing on the sea floor.
While researchers have known for decades that the Dead Sea is a misnomer, the rich variety of life evidenced in the underwater springs and the microorganisms at the bottom of the Dead Sea may lead to new life for this body of water…
Freshwater springs at the bottom of the Dead Sea and newly discovered microorganisms in this body of water set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.
For a number of years, I have been reporting on the death of the Dead Sea as this famous body of water has been going down in level almost 3 feet per year. There have been major discoveries that may also be used to save the Dead Sea from death. These underwater springs and even the microorganisms discovered by the marine scientists could well be a lifeline needed for this project.
What is so interesting to a student of Bible prophecy is that two ancient Jewish prophets foretold of freshwater flowing into the Dead Sea and making this body of water, which is ten times saltier than any ocean on earth, a freshwater lake.
Zechariah wrote of what happens after Jesus Christ returns to the earth, how living waters flow from Jerusalem to the former sea in the text which is the Dead Sea, Zechariah 14:8. Ezekiel, in the 47th chapter of his prophecy, wrote of water flowing from the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, actually from the Temple itself, down the Kidron Valley, all the way to the Dead Sea, Ezekiel 47:1-8. Verse 8 reveals that the saltwater in the Dead Sea will be healed and the fishermen will dry their fishing nets at Ngedi.

Scientists Discover New Life in the Dead Sea – “Deep beneath the sea bed of a body of water long believed incapable of sustaining life, scientists have discovered new micro-organisms. Researchers from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev announced Wednesday they have found deep fresh water springs on the floor of the Dead Sea. These secret springs are apparently providing fresh water to the rapidly shrinking lake. Meanwhile, a parallel study being conducted by German scientists has found new life forms in the mineral-laden waters. For proof, just look to Eric Bolling’s show on Fox Business News, where the host booted an atheist leader off the show Monday night for ‘denigrating the name of Jesus.’
What was supposed to be a civil discussion about a nativity scene on public property in Wisconsin quickly turned into a rapid-fire attack upon Christianity when Bolling interviewed Dan Barker, a spokesman for the atheist group Freedom From Religion Foundation. When asked why his group was pushing for the nativity scene’s removal, Barker began to attack Christianity, first by declaring that America is not Christian.
‘America is a diverse country. It is not a Christian country,’ Barker firmly stated. He went on to say, ‘The nativity scene basically is an insult to human nature, that we are all doomed and damned…’
Bolling quickly cut him off by saying that he was a Christian and the nativity scene was not an insult to him. He then tried to steer the conversation back to the issue at hand – whether or not the nativity scene should be allowed on public property.
But Barker only wanted to continue hurling insults.
‘By the way, why was Jesus even born?’ Barker asks. ‘To save us from our sin. What an insult to say we are degraded and depraved human beings.’
Again Bolling tried to cut him off, firmly stating, ‘I cannot allow that on my show. … You sir, are denigrating the name of Jesus and I’m not going to let it happen.'” Read more.
Syrian Refugees in Lebanon Need Our Support and Our Prayers

Christian Aid Mission – “You’ve read about the politics of the Syria/Lebanon situation in the news and media, and now here is your report from a ministry leader working among the Syrian refugees and muslim host families in Lebanon.
‘There are many Syrian refugees in Lebanon escaping from the turmoil in their home country. I can understand why our government will not want to share what is really happening in northern Lebanon.
I have been involved in the relief ministry among the Syrian refugees with a group of local believers since the first of June 2011. We are still involved in ministering to the Syrian refugees. We are also supporting the Lebanese families who are hosting the refugees, since they are also facing a difficult economic situation due to the border closing with Syria.
The numbers of refugees has varied since the problems started in Syria. The official estimates were from 5,000 to 7,000 refugees. When we started to minister among them, we could identify around 1,600 Syrian families located in 16 villages.
As we were distributing Bibles, food and clothing, many Syrian men returned to their homes in Syria since they felt that the danger had ceased and they needed to make an income to support their families. When conditions grew worse again, they wanted to return to Lebanon but the Syrian troops had already closed the borders. Many of those who returned to Syria could not get back into Lebanon when the fighting started up again, and consequently many women and children are separated from their husbands/fathers.
We have hundreds of families to help. They live in a difficult situation because even the men who stayed in Lebanon cannot find work in northern Lebanon, and the Lebanese host families have very limited resources to support them.
The most essential need in these days is the ability to support the Syrian refugees and the Lebanese host families during the winter season. It is very cold these days in northern Lebanon. Most of these people do not have enough winter clothes, blankets, or carpets.
We are the only ministry supporting the Lebanese host families, as well as the Syrians. Now that the border with Syria is closed, the Lebanese host families are in a bad economic situation because these families had lived on an income from smuggling fuel, food items, and other things out of Syria and selling them in Lebanon for a higher price.
Some of the Syrian refugees are staying with Christian families, but the majority of the villages on the border are Sunni Muslim, thus most of the refugee families are living with Muslim Sunnis. This gives us wide open doors to reach both the Lebanese Muslim host families and the Syrian refugees who are living with them.’ Read more…

By MAX HARROLD – “Some Muslim groups are disturbed by the federal government’s decision to immediately ban the wearing of the niqab and burka during Canadian citizenship ceremonies and worry it could lead to similar bans in other settings.
Federal Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney said Monday the ban was necessary because he recently discovered women with face coverings could not be fully identified at ceremonies to swear in new Canadians.
Some citizenship judges have told him it’s a common practice. ‘It is happening pretty much every week around the country,’ Kenney told CBC News in a TV interview. ‘My view is that this is a public act of testimony in front of your fellow citizens – it’s a legal requirement – and it’s ridiculous that you should be doing so with your face covered.’
Salam Elmenyawi, head of the Muslim Council of Montreal, said the ban is an attempt by the Conservative government to divide Canadian Muslims.
He estimated that perhaps two dozen Muslim women in Quebec wear face coverings and a few hundred across Canada.
He said a woman who chooses to cover her face is doing so because she believes it is the best way for her to live her faith.
There is widespread respect by those who don’t cover their faces for those who do cover them, he added.
The government’s decision is ‘sending a message that we’re watching you and we’re going to tell you which parts of your religion are acceptable and which are not,’ Elmenyawi said.
The Supreme Court is hearing a case about whether a Muslim woman who is accusing her cousin and uncle of childhood sexual abuse should be allowed to wear a full face-covering on the witness stand, Elmenyawi noted.
The decision could set precedent for laws on face veils, he said.
Quebec’s Bill 94, still being studied in committee in the National Assembly, would require people receiving or offering health care, education or government services to do so with their face uncovered.” Read more.

“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday announced that he will reestablish a regular Bible study group at his official residence in Jerusalem. The group will be open to Bible researchers, government officials and invited guests.
Netanyahu made the announcement on the 30-day anniversary of the passing of his father-in-law, Shmuel Ben-Artzi, who was a respected Israeli poet and Bible teacher. Ben-Artzi used to attend the regular Bible studies hosted by Israel’s first prime minister, David Ben Gurion.
‘Ben-Gurion understood that the Book of Books is our mandate for our country,’ Netanyahu said. ‘He viewed the Bible as the wondrous story of the Jewish people, the unique spiritual, cultural and historic heritage of our people, and also as one of the cornerstones of all of human culture.’
The father of Netanyahu’s Likud Party, Menachem Begin, also used to host regular Bible studies at the prime minister’s residence. ‘Real’ Christian Churches in US Forced to Go Underground Soon?
By Eryn Sun – “Christian churches in America will soon be forced to go underground if they want to stay true to their beliefs and to God, a conservative broadcast commentator warned.
Longstreet, a 30-year veteran of the broadcasting business, recently explained his opinion on the Right Side News, first clarifying that only ‘real’ Christian churches will have to do as he predicted.
‘In the past three decades, or so, many of the mainline Christian churches have slipped away from their foundation on the Holy Scriptures and adopted more and more secular tenets and leftist, politically correct, philosophy until they have become only a shadow of the true followers of Christ,’ he penned on Tuesday.
‘In my opinion, those denominations can no longer claim to be ‘Christian’ churches simply because – they are not.’
A few years ago, the U.S. Army veteran had left his own denomination for the same reasons, seeing that it had chosen to forsake the tenets of the Bible and the Good News of the Gospel.
Though he admitted that he was in no way a ‘better Christian than any other follower of Christ,’ he believed that many of the mainline denominations in America today were nothing more than social clubs with franchises nationwide.
‘Their pastors ‘preach’ feel good ‘sermonettes’ about the environment and things like ‘social justice.’ In my opinion, that is not the mission of a church that purports to follow Christ. In fact, Christ, Himself, spelled out the mission of the church in what we refer to as The Great Commission.’
The Great Commission stated in Matthew 28:18-20 reads: ‘Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’
That commission from Christ is the sole reason why the church exists today, Longstreet stressed.” Read more.

“On Friday (9 December), the UK House of Lords is holding an important and timely debate, led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, about the situation of Christians in the Middle East.
Barnabas Fund has been asked to produce a briefing paper (see below) for this debate, and I am now urgently seeking your prayers that the Lords will recognise the grave danger that Christian minorities are facing as a result of the ‘Arab Spring’. Please pray also that the Lords will exert their influence on our government so that it will press for the protection of Christians and other vulnerable groups in the region.
I have just returned from a visit to Syria, where the Christians are extremely concerned about what is happening in their country and what the future holds for them there. Also the Syrian Christians, and Iraqi Christian refugees in the country, are in considerable need, as the country’s economy is crippled by the ongoing unrest.

Barnabas Fund Briefing on the Situation of Christians in the Middle East
Religious minorities have been placed under growing pressure in the wake of the momentous changes brought about in the Arab world as a result of the so-called “Arab Spring”. These momentous changes brought with them hopes for democracy, respect for human rights and prosperity for all citizens of the Middle East.
Sadly, the current developments we are witnessing turn these hopes into fears. From Tunisia to Egypt, Islamist parties have gained ascendency. This is a potential disaster for religious minorities, as Islamist parties rely on a conservative interpretation of Sharia as the principal source of law and ultimately want to make it the law of the land, thus greatly restricting reforms that promote human rights and placing even greater restrictions on non-Muslims than previously existed.
The crisis that has engulfed Syria threatens the two million Christians living there. Since the armed conflict in Iraq, Syria has provided refuge for hundreds of thousands of Iraqi Christian refugees, amongst others who fled to Syria after they were targeted by Islamist extremists in Iraq. While the Assad regime has undoubtedly been authoritarian and brutal in its treatment of its citizens, Syria has traditionally protected its religious minorities more than any other country in the Middle East. Should Syria become consumed by a civil war, it is feared that the vulnerable Christian population will be targeted on a similar scale to what we witnessed in the aftermath of Western intervention in Iraq. NASA’s Voyager 1 in ‘Cosmic Purgatory’ on Verge of Entering Milky Way, Something is ‘Pushing Back’
By Tom Kennedy – “The spacecraft is close to leaving the Solar System and into the uncharted territory of the Milky Way after more than three decades in space.
Voyager 1 was launched with its twin, Voyager 2, by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) in 1977.
Voyager 1 is travelling at just under 11 miles per second and sending information from nearly 11 billion miles away from the sun.
It is about to become the first man-made object to leave the Solar System, although Nasa expects it to take between several months and years before it completely enters interstellar space. Voyager 2 will follow later.
Ed Stone, the Voyager project scientist at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, said: ‘Voyager tells us now that we’re in a stagnation region in the outermost layer of the bubble around our solar system. Voyager is showing that what is outside is pushing back.
‘We shouldn’t have long to wait to find out what the space between stars is really like.’
The primary mission for the spacecrafts was the exploration of Jupiter and Saturn.

Expert: UK Could Be Sitting on a ‘Volcanic Plug That Could Be Holding Back a River of Lava Ready to Erupt if Disturbed’
“Does a great and terrible fate await us if drilling starts below the Mendip hills to extract gas?
A Mendip hills expert says it might. Nigel Taylor, caver, wildlife and nature campaigner, explosives expert and Mendip district councillor, has carried out a study of the Mendip Hills and has discovered that there is a volcanic plug that could be holding back a river of lava ready to erupt if disturbed.
‘It may sound ridiculous,’ said Mr Taylor, “but it is no more ridiculous than drilling deep into the earth’s crust and setting off explosions to release trapped gas without knowing all of the potential consequences.
‘We could be sitting on a Mendip volcano.’
Mr Taylor says that Moons Hill Quarry, which is situated at the heart of the Mendip Plateau near Stoke St Michael, is a massive Silurian Volcanic plug of Basalt rock.
He said: ‘The rain falling onto the Mendips soaks down, and are superheated on their journey to the Roman Baths at Bath by volcanic activity deep in the earth’s surface under that volcanic plug, long thought extinct.’
‘But what could happen if the exploration company is allowed to carry out ‘Fracking activities’ on the Mendips?’
Fracking is the process of pumping water underground until the gas bearing shale fractures and releases the pressurised gas it contains.

Mark Biltz: 2012 Will Be One Of The Most Prophetically Fulfilled Years In A Long Time
Well, here we are at the end of 2011!
2012 is just around the corner. I firmly believe this will be one of the most prophetically fulfilled years in a long time. With all that is happening in the Middle East among the Arab countries whose attempt at democracy will only produce terrorist countries with the Islamic brotherhood in control, you can’t help but believe God is at work in lining everything up. This is not time to fear but a time to get prepared for a huge harvest of souls. As the future becomes the present and fades into the past we will have a better understanding of where we are on the prophetic timeline. With the leader of Syria refusing to follow in the way of the former leaders of Egypt and Libya, I believe he will resort to attacking Israel as a way to divert attention from his own problems. This will only lead to the fulfillment of Is 17 when Israel responds and Iran gets involved. It is time to keep Israel in our prayers and that their leaders will make the right decisions and lean upon the Almighty for their help and not rely totally on foreign help.
