Largest Sunspot in Cycle 24 Will Face Earth This Next Week, X-Flares Certain

09/24/2011 Leave a comment

“Sunspot group 1302 poses a major risk for X-class solar flares and it is still growing, facing Earth this next week.

This sunspot is the largest of solar cycle 24 and has produced powerful M and X class solar flares over the last couple of days, all not directed at our planet. However, this will change this coming week.

Sunspot group 1302 is about as long as the width of the planet Jupiter. This is a major group and it has magnetic field readings unstable enough for very strong X-class solar flares.

TheWeatherSpace.com will continue to monitor this developing situation as Sunspot 1302 rotates directly in-line to Earth this next week.” Read more.

NASA UARS Update: Falling Satellite’s Orientation Has Changed, Cannot Rule Out Falling in the US, Another Coming Down in November

09/23/2011 Leave a comment

Update 9/24/2011: NASA says satellite fell over Pacific Ocean – “NASA’s dead six-ton satellite fell to Earth early Saturday morning, starting its fiery death plunge somewhere over the vast Pacific Ocean. Details were still sketchy, but the U.S. Air Force’s Joint Space Operations Center and NASA say that the bus-sized satellite first penetrated Earth’s atmosphere somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. That doesn’t necessarily mean it all fell into the sea — although most of it is believed to have burned up. There are a myriad of unconfirmed reports, including video that purportedly shows the satellite breaking up over Canada.” Read more.

Another large satellite may fall from sky in October or November – “Since its launch on 1 June 1990, friction due to Earth’s upper atmosphere has been causing the X-ray satellite ROSAT to lose altitude continuously. When the spacecraft re-enters the atmosphere, which is expected to occur in November 2011, the satellite will disintegrate and most of the fragments will burn up in the extreme heat caused by atmospheric friction.” Read more.

November event potentially more dangerous – “… Wherever the [UARS] spacecraft lands, it will give the relevant authorities valuable experience ahead of a potentially more dangerous event in early November, when the German Rosat satellite re-enters at 28,000kph. The German space agency, DLR, said up to 30 pieces of the spacecraft might survive re-entry, with a combined mass of more than one-and-a-half tonnes.” Read more.

Sun Unleashes 6 ‘Rapid-Fire’ Solar Bursts in 18 Hours

09/21/2011 Leave a comment

“Between 7pm ET on September 18 and 1pm ET on September 19, six large solar plasma explosions were recorded by the SOHO satellite. One of these coronal mass ejections may create some geomagnetic fireworks viewable on Earth on September 21.” Source.

Solar Megastorm Could Cripple Satellites for a Decade – Earth-orbiting satellites are designed to withstand the sun’s explosions—but they may not be strong enough to ride out a solar ‘megastorm,’ a new study says. If hit by a powerful onslaught of solar energy and particles, Earth’s atmosphere would be flooded with high-energy electrons accelerated to nearly the speed of light, according to a new computer model. This would hinder operations of low-Earth orbiting, or LEO, satellites. The satellites wouldn’t immediately start falling out of the sky following a megastorm, but they would malfunction much faster than previous models suggested.” Read more.

Solar flare could unleash nuclear holocaust across planet Earth, forcing hundreds of nuclear power plants into total meltdowns – “Forget about the 2012 Mayan calendar, comet Elenin or the Rapture. The real threat to human civilization is far more mundane, and it’s right in front of our noses. If Fukushima has taught us anything, it’s that just one runaway meltdown of fissionable nuclear material can have wide-ranging and potentially devastating consequences for life on Earth. To date, Fukushima has already released 168 times the total radiation released from the Hiroshima nuclear bomb detonated in 1945 … What if a global tidal wave could destroy the power generating capacities of all the world’s power plants, all at once? Such a scenario is not merely possible, but factually inevitable. And the global tidal wave threatening all the nuclear power plants of the world isn’t made of water but solar emissions.” Read more.

Australia: Freaked Out Driver Tail-Gated by UFO, Reported Sightings Double This Summer

09/19/2011 1 comment

By DAMIEN McCARTNEY – “A TERRITORY man was shaken after an encounter with a UFO south of Tennant Creek.

The man, who wished to be identified only as Aiden, was an hour south of Tennant Creek on his way to Melbourne when he noticed a bright light following him closely, the Katherine Times reported.

Aiden said he had left Tennant Creek at about 3.30am.

‘About an hour after I had set off I looked in my side mirror and noticed a light behind me,’ he said.

He thought nothing of it, believing it was another car – but the light got brighter.

‘I thought ‘geez, they must be driving fast’ as I was doing 120km/h,’ he said.

‘When I looked again after a few minutes the light was really bright but it was in the bloody sky.'” Read more.

UFO sightings spiked this summer – “According to an organization that tracks UFO reports, this summer has been an especially busy period for UFO sightings. The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) noted that sightings increased over the past six weeks, with some states more than doubling their normal numbers. Are we on the cusp of an alien invasion? Or maybe people just have more time on their hands to spot — and report — strange things in the sky? ‘It’s pretty exciting,’ said Clifford Clift, the international director of MUFON. ‘When you average 500 a month [nationwide] and go to 1,013 in one month, that’s an interesting spike in sighting reports.'” Read more.

NASA: Huge Defunct Satellite Falling Faster Than Expected, Will Plummet to Earth Around September 23rd

09/16/2011 Leave a comment

By Tariq Malik – “NASA space junk experts have refined the forecast for the anticipated death plunge of a giant satellite, with the U.S. space agency now predicting the 6 1/2-ton climate probe will plummet to Earth around Sept. 23, a day earlier than previously reported.

The defunct bus-size spacecraft is NASA’s Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite (UARS), which launched in 1991 and was shut down in 2005 after completing its mission. The satellite was expected to fall to Earth sometime this year, with experts initially pegging a weeks-long window between late September and early October, then narrowing it to the last week of this month.

That window, NASA now says, has been trimmed to just three days.

‘Re-entry is expected Sept. 23, plus or minus a day. The re-entry of UARS is advancing because of a sharp increase in solar activity since the beginning of this week,’ NASA officials wrote in a status update today (Sept. 16). The projection is a day earlier than a previous forecast released by NASA yesterday.

NASA spokeswoman Beth Dickey confirmed with SPACE.com earlier today that the reason UARS is expected to fall early in its re-entry window is because of the sharp uptick in solar activity. Solar effects from the sun can create an extra drag on satellites in space because they can heat the Earth’s atmosphere, causing it to expand, agency officials have said.” Read more.

US: Multicolored Fireball and ‘Strange Lights’ in the Sky Dazzles Southwest, NASA: Likely an ‘Asteroid’

09/15/2011 1 comment

“A brilliant bright light seen streaking over the Southwestern sky Wednesday night was most likely a fragment of an asteroid that entered Earth’s atmosphere, a NASA scientist said.

Residents from Phoenix to Las Vegas to Southern California’s coastal areas reported to local authorities and media outlets that they saw the light move quickly from west to east at around 7:45 p.m. PT (10:45 p.m. ET). Experts said a fireball — or very bright meteor — was likely to blame.

‘I saw something that looked like a falling star but it must have been a fireball in the atmosphere,’ one witness told NBCLA. ‘It was huge. It had a green glow in front of it and a white tail. It looked like green fireworks going across the sky.’

While many witnesses reported the light as bluish-green others said it appeared yellow and orange.

‘We can’t say 100 percent,’ said Don Yeomans, manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program, ‘but it’s almost certain that the object was a fireball’ or very bright meteor, ‘the size of a basketball or baseball that likely disintegrated before it hit the ground.’

Experts said that a meteor is slower than a regular shooting star, and it’s not unusual for it to appear to change colors.

Ed Krupp, the director of the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles, said witnesses were probably seeing ‘a piece of interplanetary debris’ that ‘passed through the Earth’s atmosphere and burned up.'” Read more.

Southland Residents Report Seeing Strange Lights In The Night Sky – “Residents in and around the Southland and southwest US Wednesday reported seeing a series of strange lights up in the sky. Viewers described shooting lights, with many colors, including many reports saying the object or objects ‘had a tail.’ The first reports came from Riverside County around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Within a half hour of the first reports, several Orange County residents also reported seeing the lights. After about an hour, reports were coming from all over the West.” Read more.

‘Old Faithful’ Sunspot to Fire Off More Solar Flares, Scientists Say

09/13/2011 Leave a comment

By Mike Wall – “An active region of the sun that blasted out powerful solar storms four days in a row last week likely isn’t done yet, scientists say.

Officially, the flare-spouting region is called sunspot 1283. But space weather experts have dubbed it ‘Old Faithful,’ after the famous geyser in the United States’ Yellowstone National Park that goes off like clockwork. And the solar Old Faithful should erupt again before it dissipates, researchers said.

‘It still has a fair amount of complexity,’ said solar physicist C. Alex Young of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. ‘So we still have a pretty good chance of seeing some more stuff from this one.’

Sunspots are temporary dark patches on the solar surface caused by intense magnetic activity. Some last for hours before disappearing; others linger for days, weeks or even months.

Powerful solar storms often erupt from sunspots. These include radiation-flinging solar flares and phenomena known as coronal mass ejections (CMEs) — massive clouds of solar plasma that can streak through space at up to 3 million mph (5 million kph).

From Sept. 5-8, sunspot 1283 produced four big flares and three CMEs. Two of the flares were X-class events and two were M-class flares. (Strong solar flares are classified according to a three-tiered system: X-class are the most powerful, M-class are of medium strength and C-class are the weakest.)” Read more.

To date, Fukushima has already released 168 times the total radiation released from the Hiroshima nuclear bomb detonated in 1945, and the Fukushima catastrophe is now undeniably the worst nuclear disaster in the history of human civilization. But what if human civilization faced a far greater threat than a single tsunami destroying a nuclear power facility? What if a global tidal wave could destroy the power generating capacities of all the world’s power plants, all at once? Such a scenario is not merely possible, but factually inevitable. Magnetic ‘CME Shockwave’ Measured in Norway Following This Week’s Solar Flare, More Expected This Weekend

09/09/2011 Leave a comment

“Today. sept.09 2011 at 12.45 UTC the first CME arrived as a magnetic shockwave on my instruments. There is also an effect in signal strength from my vlf receivers, coming through electrons in the solarwind cloud. The magnetic field is unstable at the moment, it means a big change for auroras coming night.” Source.

“GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A polar geomagnetic storm (Kp=5) is in progress following the impact of a CME around 1100 UT on Sept. 9th. This could be the first of several hits from a series of CMEs expected to reach Earth during the weekend. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras after nightfall.” – SpaceWeather.com

Grab Your Binoculars – The Brightest Supernova Explosion Since 1957 Will Reach Its Brightest Point Between 9/9 and 9/12

09/08/2011 Leave a comment

By Rob Waugh – “There will be a once-in-a-lifetime event in the night sky over the next few days – as a star exploding 21 million light years away becomes so bright it will be visible through binoculars across Britain.

The supernova is predicted to reach its brightest between September 9 and 12, and will be the brightest since 1954, visible all over Britain, weather permitting. A team of scientists at Oxford University are tracking it using the Hubble Space Telescope.

The explosion is so bright because the star is very close to Earth, cosmically speaking, in the Big Dipper constellation, Ursa Major. Most supernovae are more than 1 billion light years away.

Dr Mark Sullivan, the astrophysicist leading the Oxford team examining the supernova, designated PTF-11kly, said: ‘This is accessible to anyone with a decent pair of binoculars. For many it could be a once in a lifetime chance to see a supernova blossom and then fade before their eyes. We may not see another like it for over 100 years.’

It will appear, blueish-white, just above and to the left of the last two stars in the Big Dipper. Watchers are advised to stay away from street lights for maximum visibility.

The supernova explosion was first detected on August 24, by University of California at Berkeley scientist, Peter Nugent, using the wide angle 1.2-meter Samuel Oschin Telescope in California. It has grown brighter by the minute. Located in the Pinwheel Galaxy, it was 20 times brighter in one day.” Read more.

September 6: After M3 Solar Flare, Sun Blasts Large X2-Class Solar Flare Towards Earth, Solar Storm by End of Week

09/06/2011 Leave a comment

“(TheWeatherSpace.com) — After unleashing an M-class flare within the last 24 hours, Sunspot 1283 exploded violently.

An X-class solar flare has erupted from the Sun. This flare is Earth-directed and should arrive within the following 48 to 72 hours from now, making it Thursday or Friday of this week.

The flare’s exact magnitude was X2.1. Scientists measure the magnitude of flares from A, B, C, M, and X. X flares are rare, and can cause radio and electrical grid blackouts.

Stay tuned for more information as it comes into TheWeatherSpace.com.”

Richard C. Hoagland on Elenin: ‘There Is NO QUESTION Now Regarding the Artificial Nature of this Object’

08/30/2011 10 comments

… and if it couldn’t get any weirder than it already is …

Edit: For clarification, I am not promoting this sort of inanity, just demonstrating as a follow-up to my previous posting that even if Elenin were to fragment into a virtual state of non-existence today, the conspiracy theories surrounding it would never cease to end tomorrow.

August 29, 2011 – “In tandem with his 8/29/11 presentation, Richard C. Hoagland sent us two images (below, click on to view larger) and this description:

Here is the latest Enterprise Elenin imaging — produced from an original NASA STEREO-B satellite video, the latter recorded during Elenin’s recent encounter with a solar CME (coronal mass ejection), August 19th.

The new image-composite (made from THREE ’40-second HI-1 camera frames’) reveals several additional, startling details about Elenin’s now strikingly ‘tetrahedral shield’ (which we discovered only last week) — that is apparently protecting ‘Elenin the spacecraft’ (deep inside this shield) from excess solar radiation.

The well-known technique of ‘stacking’ independent image frames, to ‘increase signal and suppress noise,’ is an old one — used successfully by professional and amateur astronomers alike. On this composite image, the brighter ‘knobs’ at the apex of each of the three visible tetrahedral vertices can now easily be seen, as well as the striking ’rounded symmetry’ of each tetrahedral ‘vertex.’

The full dimensions of this extraordinary ‘geometric force structure’now measures more than ~300,000 miles along each edge — more than 1.5 times the distance of Earth from the Moon!

Needless to say, there is NO QUESTION now regarding the artificial nature of this object/structure; in several hundred years of astronomers observing comets — including, over two decades of satellite imagery specifically to study interactions with the solar wind — such an obviously ARTIFICIAL, GEOMETRIC structure has NEVER BEEN OBSERVED.

The fact that this astonishing structure is also a precise ‘tetrahedron’ — echoing the deeply ‘tetrahedral’ numbers associated with Elenin’s very trajectory into the inner solar system! — is even more extraordinary. It definitely confirms that the overwhelming ‘message of Elenin’ is–

‘Hyperdimensional Physics!’

In the next three days, Elenin will encounter its SECOND major CME (according to Leonid Elenin’s official website — ); at that time, the H1-2 camera on Stereo-B (and maybe on STEREO-A) will be capable of acquiring new images, hopefully gathering even more precise scientific details on this extraordinary GEOMETRIC structure.

Stay tuned.” Source.

‘Doomsday’ May Be Postponed Again as Comet Elenin Now Appears To Be Breaking Apart

08/30/2011 1 comment

“Comet Elenin (C/2010 X1), widely known for inaccurate reports of its threat to Earth, appears to be breaking apart. Observations by amateur astronomer Michael Mattiazzo of Castlemaine, Australia show a rapid dimming and elongation of the comet’s nucleus akin to that of Comet LINEAR (C/1999 S4), which also disintegrated when it approached the sun in 2000. Comets are fragile objects, so this development while unexpected comes as no surprise.” Source.
