55 Buffalo Die Mysteriously on Southern Cayuga County, New York
Sempronius buffalo farmer Peter Head has lost 55 animals to a mysterious illness since October, but autopsies have shown no clear cause of death. “We’re going nuts down here trying to figure out what’s going on,” he said. “This is going to put me out of business. That’s half my frickin’ herd.” Head and his wife Deborah have run PDH Buffalo Farm on Route 41A for nine years. This year, 17 of his 23 calves died and he has stopped selling meat as a precaution. Large number of dead, half rotten, fish found floating around northern Norway
This is now beyond weird – its plain spooky. Reports of mass animal deaths keeps coming in. Any plausible explanations, however, is totally absent. On Tuesday, 200 cows was found death on a farm in Portage County, Wisconsin, USA. Cause of death is yet to be determined. Yesterday a large number of dead, half rotten, fish was found floating in the area around Stjernøya in northern Norway. Mass Bird Deaths in Turkey
In Turkey, there was a case of an unexplained mass deaths of birds. Dead starlings found residents of the county Karacabey in Bursa province. On the road were dozens of carcasses of birds. Promptly reported the incident to local authorities launched an investigation of the incident. Read more.
Dead Fish Appear In Lincoln Park, Michigan
Michigan officials say thousands of dead fish found in the Lake St. Clair area likely died because of the cold weather. The state Department of Natural Resources and Environment says Friday that large numbers of gizzard shad probably died because of the lengthy, cold winter. State officials say they’ve collected samples and had them analyzed, and they don’t suspect a fish virus or bacterial disease is to blame. Read more.

Mass fish death was recorded in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea,” Iranian Gulistan Province’s Nature Conservation Department Deputy Head Mohsen Jafarnejad said. Dead Birds Litter Quebec Farm
A farmer in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures has found about 80 dead pigeons on his farm 20 kilometres west of Quebec City. Sylvain Turmel first noticed the dead birds in his field on Dec. 18. “I found two dead birds in the morning, which is normal, birds sometimes die,” he said. “But when I came back one hour later, another 25 had fallen,” said Turmel. About 200 Dead Birds Found in South Dakota
Officials are trying to determine what killed more than 200 birds in the South Dakota city of Yankton. The dead starlings were found in a downtown area where they had been congregating instead of migrating for the winter. 200 dead cows in Wisconsin are not the only dead livestock being reported in the world today. Over the weekend a report of 7000 dead buffalo and cows from Vietnam is also making news. These two reports, coming on the heels of the dead birds and dead fish reports in recent weeks, seem to hype up this dead animal mystery. Read more.
US: Pelicans Turn Up Sick, Dead Off Florida Coast
Hundreds of Eastern brown pelicans, some with missing wings and frostbite, have been injured or killed in the St. Johns River the past couple of weeks in the Mayport area. The exact reason is unknown but the cold weather could have caused hypothermia when the birds landed in the water. The pelicans have been losing a protective coating they have on their body to shield their feathers from becoming saturated by water. Cindy Mosling, co-founder of the Bird Emergency Aid and Kare Sanctuary on Big Talbot Island, thinks chemicals in the water could be the culprit. Read more.
