Kentucky: 500,000 Asian Carp Feared Dead In Massive Fish Kill

By Chad Lampe, WKU Public Radio – “Scientists are investigating a massive fish kill in Western Kentucky. Around half-a-million Asian Carp are reported dead.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources says the die-off on the Cumberland River this week occurred just below the Lake Barkley Dam. Only Asian Carp were killed. Aquaculture Specialist Bob Durborow hasn’t seen anything of this magnitude in his 30 years of experience. He’s currently testing specimens.

‘Their eyes looked like they were live their gills looked they were from live fish they were a good specimen to check,’ said Durborow. ‘So, I feel confident that what we find from these fish might give us an indication of what is actually the problem.'” Read more.

Hasan, 2001, vol. ii, p. 879, foot note 2557, “Allah is so kind to Muslims that He remits their sins by their illness. The Prophet (may peace be upon him) has pointed out that a Muslim should bear illness cheerfully. It serves as atonement for his sins …”

“Allah” commands that anyone who leaves his religion to be put to death. He demands that anyone who insults him or his prophet be put to death. He demands that wars be waged to force Islam throughout the earth and any who resist be put to death. With hundreds of millions killed in his name and at his command over the past 1,400 years — and with those numbers increasing daily — it seems to me that mercy is one attribute that the most-merciful “Allah” is missing …

‘May Allah show mercy to them’ [writes] the health authority in Saudi Arabia on its website the people who have died from the dangerous coronavirus Mers. On Tuesday morning, there were 102 deaths in the UK – 21 more than they did a week earlier. The pathogen was discovered in September 2012 , and the most affected is the oil state Saudi Arabia.

For a few weeks the numbers have risen there by leaps and bounds. The government in Riyadh gears up: The Health Minister was replaced and set up special centers with isolation wards in three cities. However, from Riyadh, Jeddah or Mecca gets the virus to other countries and spread fear. At the weekend, Egypt reported a first suspected case. A returnee from Saudi Arabia had exhibited symptoms.

Recently it got particularly physicians, pharmacists and nurses who came into contact with an affected person. Thus, a 38 -year-old Filipino pharmacist in Riyadh was taken to the hospital, she had apparently infected. In Jeddah the pathogen Mers-CoV (Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus ) was diagnosed in a 30 -year-old Indian nurse. In Mecca, a 32-year-old Sudanese doctor diseased mind.

Many Saudi doctors refuse for fear of contagion now to take care of infected at all. Because so far there is neither a vaccine nor a therapy. The body has to try to combat the parasite itself, which can lead to kidney failure and severe pneumonia.

Why the coronavirus especially in Saudi Arabia occurs is not known. In general, we know relatively little at the moment. The pathogens can occur both in birds and in mammals. Some studies indicate that Mers has its origin in bats. Scientists were able to detect the virus but also in camels. As genetic analyzes have shown that the virus is probably jumped several times from animals to humans. Camels are kept in the Arab States for their meat, milk, and as transport animals.

Tarik Jasarevic, staff of the World Health Organization (WHO ) stated: ‘We challenge now is to figure out how the excitation of camels jumping to humans.'” Read more.

‘Nigeria’s Boko Haram insurgency ‘affects millions,’’ from the BBC, March 26 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

More than three million people are facing a humanitarian crisis in three northern Nigerian states hit by an Islamist-led insurgency, the government’s relief agency has said.

The conflict has displaced about 250,000 people since January, it added.

President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in the three states last year to crush the insurgency.

However, the militant Islamist group Boko Haram has stepped up attacks in recent months.

The group operates mostly in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, where the state of emergency is in force.
‘Unprecedented crisis’

In a statement, the Nigerian government’s National Emergency Management Agency (Nema) said the “needs of the affected population are increasing by the day and the support of all is urgently required”.

Borno was worst affected, with about 1.3 million people – most of them women, children and the elderly – in need of aid, Nema said.

In Adamawa, the number stood at around one million and in Yobe at more than 770,000, it said.

About 250,000 people were living in camps or with relatives and friends after being forced out of their homes, the agency added.

Nigerian Red Cross Society representative Soji Adeniyi said what has happening in the north-east was unprecedented.

“We have never had this kind of displacement caused by conflicts before in the country,” he is quoted by Nigeria’s privately-owned This Day newspaper as saying.

Earlier this month, Boko Haram fighters attacked an army barracks in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

Its fighters also looted and torched several villages and towns in the state after launching attacks with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles.

Last month, the group was accused of killing at least 29 people in an attack on a rural boarding school in Yobe.

Boko Haram has waged an insurgency since 2009 to create a strict Islamic state in northern Nigeria.

The president insists that the state of emergency has been effective, saying the militants have been confined to a small area near the border with Cameroon.

Then the polio virus struck and Shaista was no longer able to stand, her legs buckling beneath her weight. Today, her mother cries a lot and wonders what will become of her daughter in Pakistan’s male-dominated society, where a woman’s value is often measured by the quality of her husband.

‘It is not a hardship just for the child, but for the whole family,’ said the child’s 18-year-old mother, Samia Gul. ‘It is very difficult for a poor family like us. She will be dependent on us for the rest of her life.’

Shaista is one of five new polio cases to surface in Pakistan in just the first month of this year. Last year, Pakistan recorded 92 new cases, beating Nigeria and Afghanistan — the only other polio-endemic countries — by almost 2 to 1, the World Health Organisation said.

Pakistan’s beleaguered battle to eradicate polio is threatening a global, multi-billion-dollar campaign to wipe out the disease worldwide. The Daze Of NOAA: Millions Of Sea Star Deaths Off US West Coast Baffles Scientists

By Jean-Louis Santini, AFP – “Starfish have been mysteriously dying by the millions in recent months along the US west coast, worrying biologists who say the sea creatures are key to the marine ecosystem.

Scientists first started noticing the mass deaths in June 2013. Different types of starfish, also known as sea stars, were affected, from wild ones along the coast to those in captivity, according to Jonathan Sleeman, director of the US Geological Survey’s National Wildlife Health Center.

‘The two species affected most are Pisaster ochraceus (purple sea star or ochre starfish) and Pycnopodia helianthoides (sunflower sea star),’ he wrote in a statement in December.

The sunflower sea star is considered among the largest starfish and can span more than a meter in diameter.

The most commonly observed symptoms are white lesions on the arms of the sea star. The lesions spread rapidly, resulting in the loss of the arm. Within days, the infection consumes the creature’s entire body, and it dies.

Entire populations have been wiped out in Puget Sound off the coast of Washington state, in the Salish Sea off Canada’s British Columbia as well as along the coast of California. The mortality rate is estimated at 95 percent.

Scientists who have spent decades studying the local ecosystem have yet to identify the cause.

‘What we currently think is likely happening is that there is a pathogen, like a parasite or a virus or a bacteria, that is infecting the sea stars and that compromises in some way their immune system,’ Pete Raimondi, chair of the department of ecology and evolutionary biology, at the University of California, Santa Cruz, told AFP.

Then, the creatures become more susceptible to bacteria which is ‘causing a secondary infection that causes most of the damages that you see.'” Read more.

Illinois: Largest Outbreak To Date Of ‘Nightmare Bacteria’ Worries Health Experts

By Caroline Porter, The Wall Street Journal – “The largest outbreak to date of one strain of what authorities have called ‘nightmare bacteria’ is adding to concerns about the spread of such drug-resistant bugs.

The outbreak, centered on a hospital in a Chicago suburb, has infected 44 people in Illinois over the past year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. The bug, known as carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae, bears a rare enzyme that breaks down antibiotics.

‘This is a huge cluster,’ said Alex Kallen, a medical officer with the CDC and supervisor for the Illinois outbreak investigation, noting that only 97 cases of the infection have been reported to the agency since 2009.

The superbug, which typically lives in the intestines and is part of a large family of bacteria, can be spread via fecal matter. It isn’t typically transmitted by casual contact outside hospitals.” Read more.

‘Horrible’: 100,000 Bats Fall Dead From The Sky In Australia, Trees And Earth Littered With Dead Creatures

By Jonathan Pearlman, The Telegraph – “About 100,000 bats have fallen from the sky and died during a heatwave in Australia that has left the trees and earth littered with dead creatures.

In scenes likened to ‘an Alfred Hitchock thought bubble’, a heatwave across the north-east state of Queensland in recent days caused mass deaths of flying foxes from an estimated 25 colonies.

‘It’s a horrible, cruel way to die,’ a conservation worker, Louise Saunders, told The Courier Mail.

‘Anything over 43 degrees [Celsius, 109F] and they just fall. We’re just picking up those that are just not coping and are humanely euthanising what we can.’

Health experts have warned residents not to touch the dead creatures amid concerns about the spread of virus or bites and scratches from bats that may still be alive. At least 16 people have been are receiving antiviral treatment after coming into close contact with a bat.

‘If you find a bat it is very important not to touch it because of the risk of infection with Australian bat lyssavirus,’ the state’s chief health officer, Dr Jeannette Young, told APN.

‘Some bats may appear dead but they are not and when people have attempted to remove them they have been bitten or scratched. Bats also have a claw on their wings which is a frequent cause of injury.’

The stench from the rotting carcasses has begun to disturb residents of Brisbane and large towns.” Read more.

BBC: Infections Are The True Beneficiaries Of War

In Revelation 6, the description of the seals given by John point to compound stages of the eschatonic Beast empire from which Antichrist arises, the empire of Islam. From the very beginning of Islam’s inception, each successive seal has been the end result of the one preceding it. The opening of the 1st seal, for instance (Mohammed’s desire to conquer through lies and deceptions), precipitates or triggers the wars and the removal of peace from the earth that John then describes in the 2nd seal, which together advances all the pestilences and plagues and famines and destruction that accompany it in the 3rd seal. Numerous wars waged in the name of “Allah” to spread Islam over the 1/4th part of the earth and to increase its strength has now also created the conditions necessary for the 4th seal to give rise to Antichrist and the Abomination of Desolation. Take the poliovirus outbreak in Syria – and Israel and Egypt too – caused by related strains that can be traced back to Pakistan.

Damage to road networks leaves healthcare workers unable to get vaccines and medicines to the people needing them.

Most vaccines have to be kept cool until they are used, but interruptions to power supplies and lengthy journeys prevent this.

In Syria, poor vaccine coverage, coupled with overcrowding, lack of clean water and poor sanitation, is undoubtedly helping fan the flames of the poliovirus outbreaks.

The latest example comes this week in Syria, where a strain of polio originating in Pakistan has crippled more than a dozen children, according to doctors for the Kurdish Red Crescent. Cases have also been showing up in Somalia, Afghanistan and Nigeria.

The problem is prompting some polio-free countries to demand that visitors from high-risk countries take oral vaccines at the airport upon arrival if they cannot prove they’ve gotten the vaccine.

‘The Saudi government has introduced restrictions for all those traveling to the Holy Land from polio-affected countries,’ said Mazhar Nisar of Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Regulations and Services.

‘Every pilgrim is to take polio vaccine before traveling to Saudi Arabia and also upon arrival at any of the international airports in the Kingdom,’ Nisar said.

Polio is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus in the throat and intestinal tract that can cause paralysis, crippling and even death. It was once the leading cause of disability in the United States and infected millions of people worldwide until the introduction of the polio vaccine in the 1950s.

The disease was eradicated in the United States. Worldwide, there were fewer than a thousand cases and it was headed for total eradication until recently, according to the World Health Organization.

Polio outbreaks have been growing in Pakistan, Nigeria and Somalia, and people from those countries have traveled and spread it elsewhere. More than 1 million children in the Horn of Africa alone have not received polio vaccinations, according to the Polio Global Eradication Initiative…

The World Health Organization says the once-rare disease could be resurrected and has declared a polio emergency across the Middle East. Allias Durray, a doctor who is the chief of polio eradication for Pakistan, warned that Europe may be next.

‘After the Syrian polio outbreak and the flight of refugees in proximity to Turkey and European Union, it is evident that the polio virus is at the doorstep of Europe,’ he said.

Not all countries check for polio vaccinations among foreign visitors from countries where polio is considered endemic. The United States requires immigrants be vaccinated, but not visitors.” Read more.

Plague And Pestilence: Outbreaks In Syria Putting Europe At Risk From Polio Say Disease Experts

BBC – “Europe could be at risk from polio following a recent outbreak in Syria, infectious disease experts say.

In the Lancet journal, two doctors in Germany say the cases in Syria – which had been free of wild poliovirus since 1999 – could endanger nearby regions.

They say because only one in 200 people infected develops paralysis it could take a year of ‘silent transmission’ before an outbreak is detected.

In that time hundreds of individuals could be carrying the infection.

Prof Martin Eichner, of the University of Tubingen and Stefan Brockmann, of Reutlingen Regional Public Health Office explain that most European countries use inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) rather than the live oral polio vaccine (OPV), because the latter can, in rare cases, lead to cases of acute flaccid paralysis, the main symptom of polio.

Whilst IPV is highly effective at preventing polio disease, it does not give the same level of protection against the virus as the oral drops, so vaccination coverage needs to be very high. The doctors say that countries with low coverage such as Austria (83%) and Ukraine (74%) risk a sustained outbreak should the virus be introduced via refugees fleeing Syria. Polio vaccine coverage in the UK is at 95%.

The doctors said Israel could also pose a potential polio threat.

Prof Eichner told me: ‘Wild poliovirus has also been found in sewage in Israel and from samples taken from some symptom-free individuals since February 2013. Although there have been no cases of polio in Israel, tourists could risk bringing the infection to other countries.’

Dr Benjamin Neuman, a virologist at the University of Reading, said: ‘The Syrian outbreak puts Europe at risk because of the way we give vaccines. In parts of the world where it is still possible to catch a wild strain of poliovirus, children are usually vaccinated with a live but genetically weakened poliovirus which gives excellent protection but has a tiny risk of changing back to the more dangerous form.

‘However, in parts of the world where polio has been eradicated, like the UK, children are usually given a killed vaccine. It doesn’t protect quite as well but it cannot mutate, so it protects reasonably well while preventing polio from being accidentally reintroduced to a country.'” Read more.

Two of the infected were sent from Syria to a hosptial in Ghazi Antab in Turkey for further examination to only be transferred to another hospital in Germany. One of the two already died, since Kuru is 100% fatal. Kuru is contagious and has symptoms of skin ulcers and worms, and according to a piece on the New York Times,

Kuru is a very rare disease. It is caused by an infectious protein (prion) found in contaminated human brain tissue.

Kuru is found among people from New Guinea who practiced a form of cannibalism in which they ate the brains of dead people as part of a funeral ritual.

One of the infected men in the German hospital was confirmed to have eaten human flesh, and he eventually died. When the Turkish hospital was asked on the details of the cannibalism case, they refrained from saying anything.

Moreover, the Free Syrian Army said they will be doing an investigation on the cannibalism case, and this sparks a hunch as to what their intentions are behind this.

Overall, there are 8 to 20 cases of Kuru in Syria; Kuru strictly is caused by cannibalism, and cannibalism was involved from the report on what took place in the German hospital.

In past studies, it was established that in the area of Fore in Paupa New Guinea, Kuru was transmitted due to ‘ritualistic mortuary cannibalism.’

It is quite possible that this is what commenced the infection, in that the jihadists began to eat the flesh of their enemies.

The Times of India – “A Syrian government minister said on Sunday that foreign fighters who have come to the country to wage jihad are responsible for the outbreak of polio in the rebel-controlled north.

Last week, the United Nations health agency confirmed 10 polio cases in northeast Syria, the first confirmed outbreak of the disease in the country in 14 years, raising a risk of it spreading across the region. The confirmed cases are among babies and toddlers, all under 2, who were ‘under-immunized,’ according to the World Health Organization. The agency is awaiting lab results on another 12 cases showing polio symptoms.

Minister of Social Affairs Kindah al-Shammat told The Associated Press on Sunday that jihadis from Pakistan were to blame.

‘The virus originates in Pakistan and has been brought to Syria by the jihadists who come from Pakistan’ the minister said. She offered no evidence and did not elaborate on the claim. Pakistan is one of three countries where polio remains endemic.

Al-Shammat said the government has launched an immunization campaign to ‘protect all children in Syria.’ She did not say if and how the vaccination campaign will proceed in the northern areas along the border with Turkey. That area has been under opposition control since the rebels captured large swaths of land and whole neighborhoods of Aleppo, Syria largest city, from the regime over the past year.
