By Global Research News – “Al-Qaeda linked terrorists in Syria have beheaded all 24 Syrian passengers traveling from Tartus to Ras al-Ain in northeast of Syria, among them a mother and a 40-days old infant.

Gunmen from the terrorist Islamic State of Iraq and Levant stopped the bus on the road in Talkalakh and killed everyone before setting the bus on fire.

According to media reports, the attack was carried out because the passengers who were from three different villages in Ras al-Ain, supported anti-terrorist Kurdish groups which were formed recently to defend Kurdish population against anti-Syria terrorists.

Bodies of a mother and her 40-days infant were also seen among the dead, which were recognized by their relatives.

Syrian Kurdish leader Saleh Muslim warned on Friday that the Kurd minority is facing an ethnic cleansing by al-Qaeda terrorists.

While there is no end in sight to the bloody foreign-fueled conflict in Syria, another front has been formed between the Kurdish militia and extremist militants in Northern Syria.

Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist groups operating in the country, including the al-Nusra Front, are trying to capture Kurdish territories and make them part of a state they want to create in the region.

Following deadly attacks on Kurdish regions in recent months, groups of Kurdish militia were formed to protect their people.

Anti-Syria armed groups continue to target civilians amid US threats against Syrian army and government which have made militants find it easier to widen their attacks.

Following worldwide criticism, US President Barack Obama delayed an imminent military strike against Syria on August 31, sending the matter to the Congress to get more support.” Source – GlobalResearch.

By KARIN LAUB and SARAH DiLORENZO, Associated Press – “Al-Qaida-linked rebels launched an assault on a regime-held Christian mountain village in the densely populated west of Syria and new clashes erupted near the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday — part of a brutal battle of attrition each side believes it can win despite more than two years of deadlock.

In the attack on the village of Maaloula, rebels commandeered a mountaintop hotel and nearby caves and shelled the community below, said a nun, speaking by phone from a convent in the village. She spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.

With the world focused on possible U.S. military action against Syria, there were new signs of fragmentation in rebel ranks, with a small group of jihadis from Russia announcing it has broken away from an umbrella group known as Jabhat al-Nusra.

The Syria conflict, which began with a popular uprising in March 2011, has been stalemated, and it’s not clear if U.S. military strikes over the regime’s alleged chemical weapons use would change that. President Barack Obama has said he seeks limited pinpoint action to deter future chemical attacks, not regime change…

On Wednesday morning, rebels from the al-Qaida-linked Jabhat al-Nusra group launched the assault on predominantly Christian Maaloula, some 60 kilometers (40 miles) northeast of Damascus, according to a Syrian government official and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an anti-regime group.

At the start of the attack, an al-Nusra fighter blew himself up at a regime checkpoint at the entrance to the village, said the Observatory, which collects information from a network of anti-regime activists.

The explosion was followed by fighting between the rebels and regime forces. Eventually, the rebels seized the checkpoint and disabled two tanks and an armored personnel carrier, the Observatory said. At least eight regime soldiers were killed in the fighting, the group said.

The nun said the rebels had taken over the Safir hotel atop a mountain overlooking the village and where shelling from there. ‘It’s a war. It has been going from 6 a.m. in the morning,’ she said from her convent.

The said the convent houses 13 nuns and 27 orphans. She said around 80 people from the village had come to the convent for safety.” Read more.

Enemy Mine: Congress To Approve Syrian Attack Despite Mounting Evidence Assad Was Set-Up?

Joels Trumpet – “First, WND reports on comments made by Rush Limbaugh Tuesday on his radio program, in which he claims to have heard personally from several insiders who are relaying to him the mounting evidence that indeed the Assad regime was framed. Further, another article written by the highly respected and credentialed Israeli-American scholar, Youssef Bodansky calls into question not only the American government’s story regarding the Syrian crisis, but also the complicity of the American government in the whole affair. According to Bodansky, there is mounting evidence that the release of nerve gas in Damascus was a well-coordianed event potentially involving Qatar, Turkey, the US, and Jabhat al-Nusra (the al-Qaeda affiliated terrorists or ‘rebels’), all of whom want to see the removal of the Assad regime. This information if true, is beyond damning of the Obama administration.

And once again, I would like to call everyone’s attention to the repeated, though very poorly reasoned view (that that seems to be dominating the discussion in the Western media), that if Assad did indeed use gas, the US must by respond militarily. I find this claim to be extremely poorly reasoned on moral and military terms. I am grateful for the few voices such as Sarah Palin who do seem to have thought through the ramifications of any military action in Syria. Palin, on Friday spoke out and strongly condemned the Obama admin for its poorly reasoned defense of engaging the Syrian government. Palin’s comments can be read in their entirety here:

Israel: Muslims On Temple Mount Attack Jewish Visitors Following Call To Protect Al Aqsa Mosque

As soon as stones were thrown and riots broke out, police forces stepped in to make arrests.

Security forces were prepared for a riot as this incident follows renewed incitement by Islamic Movement leader Sheikh Raed Salah, who called for Muslims to physically prevent Jews from visiting the Temple Mount last week.

Yesterday, the leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel was arrested on charges of ‘incitement against Israel and regarding the Temple Mount,’ and is currently being questioned by police.

This morning’s attack on Jewish visitors is likely connected to Salah’s claim last week to his followers that Israel is planning to ‘break in’ to the Temple Mount, on which the Islamic Al Aqsa compound is located, built atop the ruins of two Jewish Temples.

After warning of the alleged ‘danger’ of increased Jewish prayer at the site, Salah called on Muslims from across Israel – from the Negev and Galilee, Akko and Haifa – to descend on the Temple Mount to prevent the ‘dangerous mass invasion into Al Aqsa’ with their bodies.” Read more.

Iranian Government Launches Public Campaign To Halt The Spread Of Christianity

By BosNewsLife – “Iran’s Islamic leadership has launched a public campaign to halt the rapid spread of Christianity among Iranians, BosNewsLife learned Monday, September 2.

The government’s think-tank and the Iranian intelligence service are organizing meetings aimed at debating the ‘conversion from Islam’ and to analyze why especially Iranian youth convert to Christianity, well-informed Iranian Christians said.

One of the first gatherings was reportedly attended by experts from France and Italy. A follow-up meeting has reportedly been scheduled for September 6 in the influential Sarcheshmeh Cultural Center.

The events come at a time when at least 13 Christians were detained across the Tabriz, Isfahan and Tehran areas in the past six weeks, said Elam Ministries, a mission group founded by senior Iranian church leaders.

Mohabat News, an agency of activists and Christians, isn’t surprised about the government campaign involving meetings aimed at ‘distorting’ public opinion. ‘It seems great crackdowns on churches and extraordinary waves of arrest of Iranian pastors and Christian converts have not been effective,’ the agency commented in a statement to BosNewsLife.

‘Christianity is spreading in Iran rapidly…The increasing growth of house-churches in the country and the tendency of Iranian youth and their families to convert from Islam has turned into a major concern for the security organizations, especially Shi’ite Islamic clerics.’

However, ‘The question is, do these expensive meetings, with especially hand-picked foreign guests, help the Islamic regime to interrupt the work that God has started among Iranians and dissuade Iranians from giving their hearts to Jesus Christ?’, wondered Mohabat News.

Elam Ministries doesn’t think so. ‘In 1979, there were less than 500 known Christians from a Muslim background in Iran. Today the most conservative estimate is that there are at least 100,000 believers in the nation,’ it said in an assessment.

Yet the mission group acknowledged that living as a devoted Christian can be dangerous.

It said a fresh crackdown on Christian converts, began in Tabriz last month when three men, Farshid Modares, Aval Samad Kazemi and Hamid Reza, were detained on July 10 following raids on their homes.” Read more.

Canada: Muslim Cleric Calls For Sharia Law Amputations & Stoning Against Criminals, Adulterers

By Kochava Rozenbaum, INN – “A Shiite Muslim Cleric, Dr. Khalil Tabatabai, stated that in the war against crime, amputation of a thief’s hand, as dictated by Muslim law, is more economic and more effective than imprisonment.

Shalom Toronto reported Tuesday that Dr. Tabatabai, who teaches courses in Islamic law at Shiite Islamic Institutions in Montreal, argued in one of his lectures about the justification of Islamic penal code.

There is a significant economic advantage to the application of Muslim law in regards to the amputation of a thief’s hand, as well as the stoning of adulterers, the doctor said.

Tabatabai pointed out that it would save the government and taxpayers a lot of money if the judicial system went according to Muslim law.

According Tabatabai, the death penalty is imposed on someone who steals money or property located in a secure spot by use of weaponry.

This contrasts to someone who steals in broad daylight, and is punished by having his hands or legs amputated. Tabatabai said that this serves as a deterrent for future crimes in the society.

The doctor also gave arguments in favor of the death penalty in cases of adultery, and lashes in the case of imbibing alcohol or spreading libel. Stoning and crucifixion are other prescribed punishments in Islamic law.

Although, some may find these comments controversial, public figures like Justin Trudeau, a contender for Prime Minister of Canada, ignore warning signs about radical views or actions attributed to some Islamic organizations, arguing that the Muslim community cherishes the very same values that all Canadians appreciate.” Source – INN.

Italy: Muslim Husband Arrested After Beating Wife, Threatening Her With Death

ANSA – “Police said Tuesday they arrested an Egyptian man in Florence after his wife, who had been beaten by him, begged hospital staff for help.

Police say the woman, who has a six-month-old baby and a two-year-old child with her husband, pretended to be ill to get to a hospital where she pleaded with emergency room doctors for assistance.

She said her husband had been abusing her for three years and even threatened her with death after he had imposed what he called the rules of Islam on their household.

Family of the woman, who is 30, said the 33-year-old husband strictly controlled her, refusing her permission to leave the house and barring visitors unless he was present. The breaking point came last month, the woman said, when he beat her and threatened her with a kitchen knife.

The woman’s family says he also abused them, beating and slapping her mother and demanding money to buy a house.

Abuse of women has become a major social concern in Italy, with the government recently passing legislation to try to help end what is termed “femicide”.” Source – ANSA.

By PATRICK COCKBURN, The Independent – “A little under two years ago, Philip Hammond, the Defence Secretary, urged British businessmen to begin ‘packing their suitcases’ and to fly to Libya to share in the reconstruction of the country and exploit an anticipated boom in natural resources.

Yet now Libya has almost entirely stopped producing oil as the government loses control of much of the country to militia fighters.

Mutinying security men have taken over oil ports on the Mediterranean and are seeking to sell crude oil on the black market. Ali Zeidan, Libya’s Prime Minister, has threatened to ‘bomb from the air and the sea’ any oil tanker trying to pick up the illicit oil from the oil terminal guards, who are mostly former rebels who overthrew Muammar Gaddafi and have been on strike over low pay and alleged government corruption since July.

As world attention focused on the coup in Egypt and the poison gas attack in Syria over the past two months, Libya has plunged unnoticed into its worst political and economic crisis since the defeat of Gaddafi two years ago. Government authority is disintegrating in all parts of the country putting in doubt claims by American, British and French politicians that Nato’s military action in Libya in 2011 was an outstanding example of a successful foreign military intervention which should be repeated in Syria.

In an escalating crisis little regarded hitherto outside the oil markets, output of Libya’s prized high-quality crude oil has plunged from 1.4 million barrels a day earlier this year to just 160,000 barrels a day now. Despite threats to use military force to retake the oil ports, the government in Tripoli has been unable to move effectively against striking guards and mutinous military units that are linked to secessionist forces in the east of the country.

Libyans are increasingly at the mercy of militias which act outside the law. Popular protests against militiamen have been met with gunfire; 31 demonstrators were shot dead and many others wounded as they protested outside the barracks of ‘the Libyan Shield Brigade’ in the eastern capital Benghazi in June.

Though the Nato intervention against Gaddafi was justified as a humanitarian response to the threat that Gaddafi’s tanks would slaughter dissidents in Benghazi, the international community has ignored the escalating violence. The foreign media, which once filled the hotels of Benghazi and Tripoli, have likewise paid little attention to the near collapse of the central government.

The strikers in the eastern region Cyrenaica, which contains most of Libya’s oil, are part of a broader movement seeking more autonomy and blaming the government for spending oil revenues in the west of the country. Foreigners have mostly fled Benghazi since the American ambassador, Chris Stevens, was murdered in the US consulate by jihadi militiamen last September. Violence has worsened since then with Libya’s military prosecutor Colonel Yussef Ali al-Asseifar, in charge of investigating assassinations of politicians, soldiers and journalists, himself assassinated by a bomb in his car on 29 August.” Read more.

Egypt: Judicial Panel OKs Dissolusion Of Muslim Brotherhood, 11 Members Sentenced To Life In Prison

UPI – “The Investment Department, attached to the State Council’s Administrative Court, Tuesday stopped the broadcasting four news channels in Egypt.

Social Justice Party leader Mahmoud Farghaly Omran sued to get the shutdown of al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr, Yarmuk, al-Qods and Ahrar 25, charging the stations didn’t have current licenses and were airing false reports that confused Egyptians, the Egyptian news agency MENA reported.

Opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood and deposed President Mohamed Morsi have accused al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr, a Qatari channel, of provoking internal tensions and broadcasting material supportive of the Brotherhood and Morsi since he took office last year and after his ouster in July.

Meanwhile, an Egyptian judicial panel recommended the Muslim Brotherhood be dissolved, and regime security forces arrested another leading figure of the Islamist group.

The judicial panel, which advises the government on legal issues, said the Sunni Islamist religious, political and social movement operated outside the law because it formed illegal paramilitary groups and should therefore be dissolved as a non-governmental organization.

The judges, on the State Commissioners Authority, also advised the Brotherhood’s Cairo headquarters be closed.” Read more.

Egypt: Mohammed Morsi To Be Tried For Inciting Murder – “Egypt’s state prosecutor said on Sunday he has referred ousted President Mohammed Morsi for trial on charges of inciting the murder of protesters, the BBC reported. The accusations relate to violence outside the presidential palace in Cairo last December when seven people were killed in clashes. Fourteen other members of Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood are to stand trial on the same charges, according to the BBC.” Read more.

Those killed in the attack, four kilometers (2.5 miles) off the Jos-Barkin Kadi Highway, were members of a Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) congregation in the nearby town of Foron, according to church officials.

The Christians had been ordered out of a minibus and forced to lay on the ground before being shot last Thursday, August 29, because of their faith, the COCIN denomination leadership and a witness said.

Those killed were identified as Pam Gyang, 33, Felix John, 32, as well as Jimmy Tiger, 28, Ishaku Gyang, 40, and Dachung Monday, 20.

Christian news agency Morning Star News quoted the local pastor Pam Jang Pam as saying that the assailants ‘were a combined band of ethnic Fulani herdsmen and Islamic extremist mercenaries.’ …

Also wounded, he added, were two other as yet unidentified Christians, including a pregnant woman.

Technical school student Emmanuel Sunday, who said he rode his motorbike near the murder scene, told media that he had seen the Christians and that gunmen stopped him to ask about his religion.

‘When I told them I was a Christian, they asked me to join a group of people already ordered to lie down by the side of the road. I did as I was ordered to do, and then one of the men came and searched me and took money from me, including my mobile phone,’ Morning Star News quoted him as saying.

‘It was when the gunmen started shooting and killing those of us that were Christians grouped together that I ran into a nearby maize farm, because it was already dark. They shot wildly at me, but I escaped unhurt, except the injuries I sustained while running in the bush.’

He said  God helped him escaped to tell the story and ‘show the miracle’ in his life…

The pregnant widow of Pam Gyang, 28-year-old Grace Yop Gyang, said in published remarks that her husband is also survived by their two daughters and a son.

She said she was praying that ‘through his death those who killed him will get to know Jesus as their savior.'” Read more.

Tunisia: Devout ‘Religion Of Peace’ Muslim Attacks French Imam For Promoting Peace With Jews

The Jewish Daily Forward – “A French imam known for promoting Jewish-Muslim relations said he was physically assaulted in Tunisia by a man who called him a ‘Zionist.’

The attacker of Hassen Chalghoumi, the imam of Drancy near Paris, punched him in the chest and shoved him to the ground on Sunday near Hotel Gammarth near Tunis, the capital of Tunisia.

‘He insulted me, called me a ‘Zionist and collaborator’ and then he hit me,’ Chalghoumi was quoted Monday as telling Le Parisien daily. Chalghoumi was assaulted in front of his wife and children, who also were hit by the unnamed attacker, the report said.

According to the report, the man, who addressed Chalghoumi in French, was detained by hotel staffers and arrested by police. Chalghoumi was taken to hospital after the incident, according to the French news agency AFP. Neither he nor his family members sustained serious injuries.

Chalghoumi, who is well-known in France for his involvement in interfaith forums and initiatives, has received many death threats in France for his friendly ties with CRIF, the umbrella group representing French Jewish communities, and for visiting Israel several times.” Source – The Jewish Daily Forward.
