By Julian Hattem, The Hill – “Intelligence officials have determined that Islamic extremists have explored using the refugee program to enter the United States, the head of the House Homeland Security Committee said on Monday.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) declined to go into detail about the determination, which the Obama administration has not announced publicly.

Yet the disclosure could add ammunition to critics of the White House’s refugee plans who have warned that the program is vulnerable to infiltration by adherents of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

‘ISIS members in Syria have attempted to exploit it to get into the United States,’ McCaul said during a speech at the National Defense University.

‘The U.S. government has information to indicate that individuals tied to terrorist groups in Syria have already attempted to gain access to our country through the U.S. refugee program.’

McCaul would not say specifically who informed him and other lawmakers about the revelation, only describing the sources as ‘elements of the intelligence community.’

‘That was very courageous for them to come forward with this, to tell me about this personally, given the political debate on the Hill,’ he added, suggesting that the news did not come from intelligence leaders.

The briefing happened ‘earlier this week,’ McCaul said.

The White House would not confirm or deny McCaul’s claim, instead referring reporters to his office to explain where he got the information.

A spokesman with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence also declined to comment on the record about the assertion.

McCaul’s speech comes amid escalating concerns about Islamic extremism in the West, following the killings of 130 people in Paris and 14 in San Bernardino, Calif. The massacres have caused American fears about terrorism to spike, and left Congress grasping for a response.

President Obama has repeatedly pushed back against warnings that ISIS could attack the United States by sending over fighters as refugees.

The Syrian civil war has killed more than 200,000 people since it began in 2011, and forced more than 4 million refugees to flee.” Read more.

Sounds like the “prophet” of Islam would have been proud, right? So, what is a “good Muslim”? Let’s confer to Mohammed himself for the answer. If the holiest book in Islam is any indication, a “good Muslim” is one who pursues, fights against, strives against, is ruthless against, sieges, slays, strikes fear into the hearts of, and terrorizes non-Muslims to either subjugate or annihilate for the cause of Allah (read the verses here). The “prophet” Mohammed, having been “made victorious with terror” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2977), was evidently a “good” Muslim himself and is the “excellent example” in whom all Muslims are encouraged to follow (Qur’an 33:21). Thus, if following the conduct and commands of Mohammed make you a good Muslim, and if Mohammed’s conduct and commands call for violence and terror, then Syed Farook proved himself a very “good Muslim” indeed …

‘Online Dating Profile Provides Closer Look at Calif. Killer — and Lists His Political Identification,’ by Oliver Darcy, The Blaze, December 4, 2015:

An online dating profile appearing to have once belonged to San Bernardino killer Syed Farook provides new insight into his life.

In the Arab Lounge dating account, Farook described himself as an “Allah fearing, calm thought full [sic] and simple man.”

“I am born and raised here, I try to live as a good Muslim, looking for a girl who has the same outlook, wear hijab, but live the life to the fullest, be my partner for snow boarding, to go out and eat with friends, go camping, working on cars with me. Also be calm cool thought full, love to spend time with friends and family,” he wrote.

It was previously reported that Farook traveled overseas where he met his wife online, but it was not clear exactly when his Arab Lounge account had been created.

Farook listed his political views as “very liberal,” contrary to the predictions of many analysts and journalists who initially guessed as news of the attack unfolded that he’d be of Republican or libertarian persuasion.

When asked to name the “most important thing in a relationship,” Farook said his partner would need to be “guided by and as written in Islam.”

A man was stabbed in the ticket hall at Leytonstone station this evening by another man who witnesses say shouted ‘This is for Syria’ as he slashed his throat.

Another three are thought to have been injured.

The Met Police said its counter-terrorism command unit is now investigating the incident.

Police said they used a taser on the suspect as he threatened others with a knife, before they managed to arrest him.

The victim was rushed to hospital in a serious condition with multiple stab wounds, paramedics said.

Frightened witnesses described how their normal Saturday night-out turned into a horror show.

One said the victim was an ‘elderly’ man with a younger female family member while another said the man had a long knife, which looked like a machete.” Read more.

It’s one of those “duh” moments where nearly everyone watching the press conference wonders what took them so long to actually identify this premeditated, multi-shooter, mass killing by ammo-storing, bomb-building, erase-your-footsteps, pro-ISIS Muslim couple an “act of terrorism.” Now let’s see if the FBI is willing to call a spade a spade and more accurately describe it as “an act of Islamic terrorism.” Just don’t hold your breath, otherwise you may become another casualty of this attack …

‘As of today, based on the information and the facts as we know them, we are now investigating these horrific acts as an act of terrorism,’ Dave Bowdich of the FBI said at a Friday morning news conference.

Bowdich added that federal investigators have uncovered evidence that pointed to extensive planning ahead of the deadly attack.

The declaration came two days after Syed Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 28, stormed into the center, spraying a room full of holiday partygoers with bullets.

Fourteen victims were killed in the attack and 21 were injured.

Farook and Malik, who were married, were killed in a police shootout later that day.” Read more.

CNN – “Investigators think that as the San Bernardino, California, attack was happening, female shooter Tashfeen Malik posted a pledge of allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Facebook, three U.S. officials familiar with the investigation told CNN.

Malik’s post was made on an account with a different name, one U.S. official said. The officials did not explain how they knew Malik made the post.

A law enforcement official said it appeared that Wednesday’s attack — which left 14 people dead and 21 wounded before the two attackers, Malik and her husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, were killed in a shootout with police — may have been inspired by ISIS. But none of the officials said that ISIS directed or ordered the attack.

‘This is looking more and more like self-radicalization,’ a law enforcement official said.

Another official said authorities haven’t ruled out that others may have influenced this radical view…

Farook and Malik ‘kept to themselves,’ Abuershaid said. But the interactions they did have didn’t hint at any significant changes in their thinking or demeanor, any turn to Islamist extremism, or any sign they were plotting a mass killing, the lawyer said.

‘There was nothing to show that (Malik) was extreme at all,’ Abuershaid said. ‘(And Farook) was a normal guy, in every sense of the word.'” Read more.

ISIS Supporters Celebrate San Bernardino Killers As ‘Lions’ Who ‘Made Us Proud’ – “ISIS extremists began celebrating the mass shooting in San Bernardino hours after the massacre, creating the hashtag #America_Burning as police hunted for as many as three shooters … Vocativ deep web analysts discovered the ISIS posts on web forums where the extremists frequently share information… ‘[Allah] is great and he the one to be praised for that,’ another supporter posted in the forum in Arabic. ‘This is hell with god’s will.’ In reference to the shooting, another ISIS supporter posted on Twitter, ‘[Allah] is the greatest. While there are now reports attempting to suggest that Syed Farook’s wife may have been responsible for “radicalizing” him, let’s not obfuscate the bottom line of this one fundamental truth: Syed Farook wasn’t a “radical husband.” He was a “radical Muslim.” It was not his partner that convinced him to kill. By Chuck Ross, The Daily Caller – “Syed Rizwan Farook was heavily involved in his local mosque and focused his energies on memorizing the Quran, he wrote in a short-lived dating profile in 2013.

‘I spend much of my free time in the masjid,’ Farook, then 28, wrote on his profile for the dating site, BestMuslim.com. He also enjoyed ‘memorizing the quran and learning more about the religion,’ he added.

Farook and his wife, 27-year-old Tashfeen Hakim, killed 14 people at a holiday party being held for county workers at Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, Cal. on Wednesday. Farook worked as a health inspector for the county and had been at the party before he and Hakim began their attack.

The couple was killed during a shootout with police later on Wednesday. They had four guns, investigators have said. And though authorities have not officially classified the attack as terrorism, more evidence is pointing in that direction.

Farook reportedly had contact with known terrorists in the Middle East. He has also traveled to the Middle East and to Pakistan multiple times. It has also been reported that Farook viewed ISIS propaganda online. Investigators found a heavy arsenal of guns, ammunition and pipe bombs at their house in Redlands, Cal.

In describing his ideal mate on his dating profile, Farook said that he was ‘looking for a practicing muslimah,’ a reference to a follower of Islam.” Read more.

The sickening celebrations have been revealed in a new propaganda video, where two jihadis urge terrorists to carry out attacks in Paris, New York and Moscow.

The armed fighter also shows off his suicide vest to the camera and proudly grasps his AK-47 during the hate-filled video. The video emerged just hours after Britain voted to bomb ISIS in Syria.

Reading from a rough script, the fighter vows that ‘revenge has started’ and declares that ‘blood will flow’ in the West.  

Determined to inspire lone wolf attacks in Europe and the Western world, the fighter refers to the November 13 attacks in Paris, declaring it just ‘the beginning.’

‘Tomorrow will be Washington. It will be New York and it will be Moscow,’ the aggressive fighter claims, brandishing his AK-47 at one point.

‘There will be no safety in this world from our guns and bullets and explosives. We will come to you,’ he says, making the point of grasping his bulky suicide belt strapped around his waist.” Read more.

CNN – “Syed Rizwan Farook — one-half of the couple behind the San Bernardino shooting massacre — was apparently radicalized and in touch with people being investigated by the FBI for international terrorism, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

Farook’s apparent radicalization contributed to his role in the mass shooting, with his wife Tashfeen Malik, of 14 people on Wednesday during a holiday party for the San Bernardino County health department, where Farook worked, sources said…

Farook traveled to Saudi Arabia for several weeks in 2013 on the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims are required to take at least once in their lifetime, which didn’t raise red flags, said two government officials. It was during this trip that he met Malik, a native of Pakistan who came to the United States on a ‘fiancée visa’ and later became a lawful permanent resident.

Officials had previously said that neither Farook and Malik were known to the FBI or on a list of potentially radicalized people. Nor had they had any known interactions with police until Wednesday’s deadly shootout that culminated in their deaths.

Yet Farook himself had communicated by phone and via social media with more than one person being investigated for terrorism …” Read more.

By Snejana Farberov and Mia De Graaf and Khaleda Rahman, Daily Mail – “On Wednesday morning, California health inspector and US citizen Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and his Saudi wife of two years, Tashfeen Malik, 27, dropped off their six-month-old baby with Farook’s mother, saying they were going to a doctor’s appointment.

By noon, according to police, the couple had donned assault clothing, armed themselves with rifles and stormed a holiday party attended by San Bernardino County employees, killing 14 people and wounding 17 others.

Before sunset, after a massive manhunt and a violent shootout with police on a residential street, they were both dead, leaving a grieving community with few clues to puzzle out the motive for the carnage.

Those who knew Farook, among them his colleagues at the San Bernardino County Public Health Department, described him as a devout Muslim but not someone who often talked about religion.

‘He never struck me as a fanatic, he never struck me as suspicious,’ said Griselda Reisinger, a former colleague.

Co-worker Patrick Baccari, who shared a cubicle with Farook, told the Los Angeles Times he and his young family appeared to be ‘living the American dream.’

Farook’s family was originally from South Asia, while Malik was believed to be from Pakistan and had lived in Saudi Arabia before coming to the United States, said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Farook had an older brother, he added, who had served in the US military.

The gunman’s father, also named Syed Farook, seemed shocked when talking to the New York Daily News after the shooting.

‘I haven’t heard anything,’ the elder Mr Farook said before his son’s name became public. ‘He was very religious. He would go to work, come back, go to pray, come back. He’s Muslim.'” Read more.
