‘I formally and humbly request to be made a citizen of the Islamic State,’ Hasan wrote in the letter to ‘Ameer, Mujahad Dr. Abu Bakr al-Baghadadi,’ Fox News reported. ‘It would be an honor for any believer to be an obedient citizen soldier to a people and its leader who don’t compromise the religion of All-Mighty Allah to get along with the disbelievers.’

Hasan signs his letter with his name and the abbreviation SoA — Soldier of Allah.

John Galligan, the attorney for Hasan, said the letter ‘underscores how much of his life, actions and mental thought process are driven by religious zeal. And it also reinforces my belief that the military judge committed reversible error by prohibiting Major Hasan from both testifying and arguing … how his religious beliefs’ motivate his shooting,’ Fox News reported.

The court trial of Hasan generated great controversy because he was not prosecuted for a terrorist attack, but rather for an act of workplace violence.” Source – The Washington Times.

Public executions, amputations, lashings and mock crucifixion are a regular fixture injihadist-controlled areas of Syria, a UN probe charged Wednesday, also accusing Damascus of repeatedly using chemical weapons against civilians. “Executions in public spaces have become a common spectacle on Fridays” — the Muslim holy day — in parts of Syria under control of the Islamic State (IS), the independent Commission of Inquiry on human rights in Syria said.In a 45-page report covering the period from January 20 to July 15, the commission also detailed a wide range of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by the Syrian government and other armed opposition groups. And it accused Damascus of dropping chlorine bombs on civilian areas in April — the first time the UN has directly blamed the government for the chemical attacks.

The four-member commission detailed a litany of horrors committed by IS, including beheading boys as young as 15 and amputations and lashings in public squares as residents, including children, are forced to watch.

By Lisa Daftari, FOX News – “A new English-language Al Qaeda magazine features a how-to article on making car bombs and suggests terror targets in the United States, including casinos in Las Vegas, oil tankers and military colleges, and implies that an attack is imminent.

The online publication, called ‘Palestine-Betrayal of the Guilty Conscience Al-Malahem’ and put out by the media arm of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, calls for Muslims around the world to follow ‘the recipe’ provided to set off car bombs in crowded venues. It includes a timeline of ‘selected jihadi operations’ that the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), which first flagged the slickly-produced latest edition of the terror publication, finds chilling.

‘The timeline concludes with the date 201?’ and blank spaces and question marks for the photo and information of the next attack — implying that it is coming soon.’ said MEMRI Executive Director Steve Stalinsky.

There is a suggested list of targets for lone-wolf, or individually executed, terror attacks, including New York’s Times Square, casinos and night clubs in Las Vegas, oil tankers and trains, the Georgia Military College, the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and General Atomics defense contractor in San Diego.

‘This recipe gives you the ability to make a car bomb even in countries with tight security and surveillance,’ one article reads, before providing a ‘shopping list’ of supplies needed to make such a bomb, including cooking gas, oxygen gas, a barometer, decoration lamps and matches.

There is also a list of targets in Britain including a military academy and the Marks and Spencers chain of department stores. The magazine calls for the stores to be hit on Friday during prayers so that Muslims won’t be affected.

Globally, AQAP calls for the targeting of tourist resorts frequented by Israelis, Britons and Americans.” Read more.

Flashback: Dozens Of Islamic Terror Training Camps Now Operating … Inside the United States– “A radical jihadist group responsible for nearly 50 attacks on American soil is operating 35 terrorist training camps across the nation, but the U.S. government refuses to include the organization on the State Department’s list of foreign terrorists. Jamaat ul-Fuqra, known in the U.S. as ‘Muslims of America,’ has purchased or leased hundreds of acres of property – from New York to California – in which the leader, Sheikh Mubarak Gilani, boasts of conducting ‘the most advanced training courses in Islamic military warfare.’ In a recruitment video captured from Gilani’s ‘Soldiers of Allah,’ he states in English: ‘We are fighting to destroy the enemy. And that number, if accurate, only reflects the totals in Iraq and Syria. It does not include aspiring “members” across the globe who either sympathize with, or have already pledged allegiance to obey, the ISIS caliphate …

By Riyadh Mohammed, Mashable – “The Islamic State, the radical group which has cut a bloody path through Syria and Iraq in recent months, slaying civilians and security forces, and executing the American journalist James Foley on camera, has even more followers than previously believed, according to Iraqi security sources.

While western diplomats and other observers have estimated the number of militants number between 20,000 to 50,000, Hisham al-Hashimi, a security expert in Baghdad, said that the total membership of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria may now be closer to 100,000 members.

If true, the numbers suggest that the militant organization is growing by leaps and bounds as it conquers territory in the region.

According to Hashimi, a key event in terms of adding more people to its rank was the group’s capture of Mosul in June. The northern Iraqi city is a Sunni stronghold, home to many former officers in Saddam Hussein’s army who have opposed the Shiite-dominated government in Baghdad. And while some people were forced to enlist, others seem to have voluntarily taken up arms.

As a researcher who occasionally gives advice to the Iraqi security forces, Hashimi has had access to hundreds of memory drives recovered by Iraqi security forces at the home of the second-in-command of the Islamic state and other Iraqi intelligence as well as researchers on the ground in Iraq.

‘The Islamic State didn’t come from nowhere,’ said Hashimi who has been studying the group for years. ‘It is an extension of groups that existed before — historically and ideologically.’

Hashimi’s estimate was seconded by Ibrahim al-Sumaidaei, a political analyst, currently based in Amman, Jordan.

‘The Islamic State’s members have multiplied in a very dangerous way,’ said Sumaidaei, a former intelligence officer. ‘Having plenty of arms and funding has made the Islamic State swallow the fighters of the other Sunni insurgent groups.’ Sumaidaei added that many of the members may not be ‘active duty.’

In addition to foot soldiers, the Islamic State has also attracted a number of former high level army officers from Saddam Hussein’s Baathist regime, said Hashimi. (Many Baathists fought American troops after the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.)

‘Most of those who joined — and I know them personally — are either former army officers or their sons,’ said Salem Aljomaily, a security expert and a former intelligence officer. In terms of how the new recruits are organized, Aljomaily said that ‘the high ranking officers are the military planners, and their sons and the younger officers are being used as fighters.'” Read more.

ISIS Fighters Marching More Than 200 Soldiers Across The Desert To Their Deaths

By Dan Bloom, Mail Online – “Sickening footage appears to show Islamic State militants parading around 250 captured soldiers through the desert in their underwear before they are killed and their bodies piled on the bare earth.

An Islamic State fighter claimed the men were from the Syrian government’s Tabqa air base which extremists seized on Sunday, potentially handing them warplanes, tanks, artillery and ammunition.

The video, which has not been independently verified, is too graphic to be published in full.

It begins by showing dozens of men being marched through the desert wearing only their underwear. It then fades to black, resuming with a pile of bloodied bodies stacked on top of one another.

As the horrific footage progresses it pans slowly across a vast line of men who appear to be dead, and whose bodies have been laid out one by one.

The line forms a slow crescent across the desert, seemingly stretching to the horizon as militants stand beside it. Eventually, after more than a minute, the cameraman reaches the end of the line.

The precise death toll is uncertain and other sources put it at lower than 250, but at least 150 bodies are visible in the shaky video.

Its description on Youtube said it showed the execution of Army officers and Nusayri people, a significant minority of Shia Muslims in Syria.

A caption to another version of the video said: ‘The 250 shabeeha taken captive by the Islamic State from Tabqa in Raqqa have been executed.’ Shabeeha is the Islamist name for soldiers loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.

An Islamic State fighter in Raqqa told Reuters: ‘Yes we have executed them all’.” Read more.
