By Judson Berger, FOX News – “The U.S. Army is refusing to suspend contracts with dozens of companies and individuals tied to Al Qaeda and other extremist groups out of concern for their ‘due process rights,’ despite repeated pleas from the chief watchdog for Afghanistan reconstruction.

In a scathing passage of his latest report to Congress, Special Inspector General John Sopko said his office has urged the Army to suspend or debar 43 contractors over concerns about ties to the Afghanistan insurgency, ‘including supporters of the Taliban, the Haqqani network and al Qaeda.’

Sopko wrote that the Army ‘rejected’ every single case.

‘The Army Suspension and Debarment Office appears to believe that suspension or debarment of these individuals and companies would be a violation of their due process rights if based on classified information or if based on findings by the Department of Commerce,’ Sopko said, summing up the Army’s position.

The Army claims that Sopko’s office did not provide enough evidence to support its claims.

‘The Army Procurement Fraud Branch did receive and review the 43 recommendations late last year, but the report did not include enough supporting evidence to initiate suspension and debarment proceedings under Federal Acquisition Regulations,’ an Army spokesman said in a written statement.

The Army further explained that it can’t debar a contractor unless a ‘preponderance of the evidence’ shows serious misconduct, and that the evidence the IG provided would not pass that test. However, the Army said it has already told the office it ‘stands ready to re-examine the 43 cases if all relevant unclassified and/or classified information is provided.’

The IG report was released last week, shortly before the U.S. government issued a global travel alert to Americans and shuttered nearly two-dozen embassies over the weekend out of concern over a possible Al Qaeda-driven plot.

The inspector general report covered everything from contractors to security to economic development. But it reserved some of its most pointed language for the Army’s refusal to cut ties with companies tied to the insurgency — calling the position ‘legally wrong’ and ‘contrary’ to good policy and national security goals.

Sopko pointed out the apparent disconnect between one part of the Army that is killing insurgents and the other part that allegedly is doing business with them.” Read more.

Islamist Group In America: We Will Impose Sharia Law Upon All Christians

By Ryan Mauro, Frontpage Mag – “Hizb ut-Tahrir, a group so radical that the Muslim Brotherhood won’t even touch it, lives and breathes in America. Part of the reason it’s a fringe group in the U.S. is because it is mostly honest about its objectives. For example, one of its websites answers a question about the status of Christians in an Islamic State by frankly admitting that Sharia is imposed upon them and other non-Muslims.

‘Everyone who carries the citizenship of the [Islamic] state enjoys the rights and is bound by Shari’ah obligations,’ the Hizb ut-Tahrir (HUT) website says.

The article later reiterates that the Islamic state ‘implements Shari’ah upon all of those who carry the Islamic citizenship whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims…’

Of course, Islamists view this as a great aspiration, otherwise they wouldn’t believe in it. The article extols the fairness of Sharia-based governance. The ‘basic needs’ of all Muslims and non-Muslims are guaranteed, income is redistributed and health care and education are free. Non-Muslims can even be appointed to administrative positions and file official complaints if they are abused by authorities, at least in a way that isn’t consistent with Sharia.

The description sounds swell to those that don’t notice the important caveats.

Non-Muslims have religious freedom, as long ‘as they are within the general system.’ Non-Muslims’ attire and diet are regulated according to their own religions, as long as they are ‘within that which the Shari’ah rules have permitted.’

The HUT article, written by a spokesman in Lebanon, becomes vaguer when discussing the more sensitive issues. It was written in English for a non-Muslim audience, after all.

On the question of Muslims who abandon the faith, it explains, ‘The rule of the apostate is applied upon those who have apostatized from Islaam if they are apostates.’ That means execution, but that isn’t exactly the loveliest word you want to use when promoting your ideology.

HUT then glosses over the other aspects of Sharia law:

Somalia: Islamist Militants Attack Mogadishu, Promise More Bombings Before The End Of Ramadan

The guerilla-style attacks were typical of al Shabaab rebels who have waged a six-year campaign to impose their strict interpretation of Islamic law on the country.

The militants had fired five mortar shells and hurled several grenades, wounding at least two women, senior police officer Abdiqadir Mohamud said.

Somali security forces responded with volleys of gunfire, witnesses said. Casualty numbers were thought to be low.

‘We started a massive military operation across Mogadishu at dusk. It will go on until tomorrow morning,’ said rebel spokesman Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab, promising more attacks over the next few days as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan ends.

Al Shabaab said late last month the rise in coordinated attacks conducted by its fighters pointed to its enduring strength and at the time warned of more attacks in Ramadan.

The African Union peacekeeping force, known as AMISOM, has struggled to control areas won back from al Shabaab. The central government extends little influence beyond the capital where security has improved since peacekeepers flushed the militants out of their bases two years ago.

Uganda’s Foreign Minister Sam Kutesa told leaders from troop contributing countries – including Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Djibouti and Sierra Leone – at a summit in Uganda on Sunday that AMISOM had been stretched to its operational limit. But a summit communique stopped short of calling for extra troops.

‘I am afraid the remaining nights of Ramadan will be the worst for Mogadishu,’ local elder Farah Bulle told Reuters. ‘They have managed to indoctrinate many fighters to die in the holy month.'” Read more.

Syria: Islamist Rebels Threaten Christians With No Jobs, Death If They Fail To Comply With Islamic Law

AINA – “Accounts by Assyrian refugees from al-Thawrah (also known as al-Tabqah) reveal the real face of the Islamist undercurrent within the Syrian opposition. Furthermore, these accounts serve as a stark and chilling reminder of what has already been suffered by non-Muslim communities in Iraq since 2003.

On February 11, rebel fighters from the al-Nusra Front took control of the city and its strategic dam, the largest of its kind in the country. They also seized control of the three quarters that housed dam workers – many of whom were Christian Assyrians. Whilst they allowed the dam’s original staff to remain in the city in order to continue its operation, management and upkeep, those who were not Sunni Muslim were not afforded the same privilege.

‘Everything is now in Jabhat al-Nusra’s hands,’ complained one Assyrian refugee, ‘All the Muslims stayed there, but if any Christians want to go back they have to become Muslim or else they will be killed.’

Christians report their property being stolen, their homes being confiscated, and their possessions being sold on the black market in order to buy weapons and ammunition. In many of these cases, those forcefully dispossessed were not even allowed the chance to take with them any of their personal belongings.

According to the jihadist Islamist ideology espoused by such forces as the al-Nusra Front, the properties and possessions of such ‘infidels’ are halal (fair game), and it is not a sin to plunder them.

They also threatened Christians with death if they did not comply with strict Islamic laws. ‘They would call and text me on my cell phone, ordering me to do as they say, or else they would kill me! Can you imagine it?’ said a Christian man from al-Thawrah, who had lost all he owned, and is now internally displaced with his family. ‘Even though I have left they still call me from there to bother me, so I keep my phone switched off unless I really need to use it.’

The gruesome story (AINA 4-3-2013) of an Assyrian man from al-Hasakah Governorate, allegedly shot by rebels in an execution-style murder just outside al-Thawrah in April 2013, still sends shivers up the spines of those who knew him. He used to earn a living transporting people between al-Hasakah and al-Thawrah, until his car was confiscated by al-Nusra fighters. ‘They told him that he could buy it back from them, so he returned to his village to bring them the money,’ one refugee related, ‘He should have stayed put and thanked God that they hadn’t killed him then and there, but he didn’t listen to reason and left with the money they’d requested. No one ever saw him alive again. How will his wife and four children support themselves now?'” Read more.

CBN News – “The Lebanese-based terror group Hezbollah hung large banners along the border with Israel in anticipation of al-Quds Day Friday.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini established al-Quds Day following the Islamic Revolution in 1979 as a day of solidarity with Palestinian Arabs in their fight against the Israeli occupation — and especially Jerusalem, which Muslims call ‘Quds.’

Adorned with pictures of the al-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount, the banners warned Israel in Hebrew and Arabic, ‘We’re Coming!’

Nasrallah called on the Lebanese people to come out in force Friday to send a message to the Israelis.

‘Because of the Second Lebanon War, there is a big score of historic vengeance between us and the Israelis lurking for us, for our leaders, our men, our presence and our entity, as they have harmed Imad Mughniyeh and others…

Meanwhile at Friday’s al-Quds Day rallies in Tehran, Khameini declared ‘Palestine will be free’ as a new ‘Islamic Middle East’ emerges.

Iran’s newly elected President Hasan Rouhani, touted as a moderate by many, called for the ‘removal’ of Israel, much like his predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

‘The Zionist regime has been a wound on the body of the Islamic world for years and the wound should be removed,’ Rouhani said after taking party in the festivities, Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agencyreported.” Read more.

Iranian Chief Mullah To New Iranian President: Fighting Israel Is Our Top Priority – “In a recent speech, top Iranian cleric Ahmad Khatami, a close confidante of Iranian Supreme Ruler Ali Khamenei, issued a warning to the future president Hassan Rouhani: If he wished to remain in power, he must confirm and carry out the ‘Supreme Leader’s’ anti-Israel policies. A report issued by MEMRI, the Middle East Research Institute, quoted Khatami, speaking on behalf of Khamenei, as saying ‘if the Zionist regime wants to attack Iran [even] in the most minimal fashion, we will destroy Tel Aviv and Haifa. European Union Adds Military Wing Of Hezbollah To List Of Terrorist Organizations – “The military wing of Hezbollah, the powerful Lebanese Shiite group, was blacklisted by European Union ministers as a terrorist organization on Monday in a policy shift that reflected their concern about Hezbollah’s suspected involvement in Europe-based bombings and its growing role in the Syria war. The blacklisting designation was welcomed by the United States and Israel, which have long regarded Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood Supporters Attack More Christian Churches, Homes In Minya Village

AINA – “Six Copts were injured in a Minya village after clashes with pro-Mursi demonstrators on Thursday evening.

The clashes left six injured.

Several Minya residents filed official complaints accusing supporters of deposed president Mohamed Mursi of attacking them and destroying their cars as they go to work in the morning and return back home.

Eyewitnesses said that Mursi’s supporters forced the Copts of Nazlet Abid Village to suspend work in more than 400 white brick factories where most village residents work.

In Delga Village south of Minya, the houses of several Copts and village churches were attacked by stones during a pro-Mursi march Thursday night.

Father Ayoub Youssef, the patron of Mar Guirguis Church for Catholics, urged security bodies to intervene in order to put an end to the attacks on Copts.

In preparation for Friday’s pro-Mursi demonstrations, security forces in Minya intensified their presence at vital facilities such as the governorate’s security headquarters, police stations, and banks.” Source – AINA.

Egypt: Christian Homes, Two Churches Attacked Back To Back – “Hours ago, dozens of Brotherhood members and supporters attacked an ‘evangelical church’ in the village of Reeda, in the governorate of al-Minya in Upper Egypt, destroying its exterior.   They also opened gunfire and hurled rocks and other projectiles at the Coptic Christian homes near the church, ‘creating,’ according to the Tahrir report, “terror among the Copts, especially considering the total absence of security forces.’ A separate report, also from hours ago, tells of how another church — as well as the residence of its priest — were set on fire in the Beni Ahmed village.” Read more.

Muslim Brotherhood ‘Taking Anger Out’ On Christians – “In the wake of the military coup in Egypt earlier this month, media reports frequently recounted the violent clashes between the military and supporters of the ousted Muslim Brotherhood regime of Mohammed Morsi. What is not often reported, however, is the brutal treatment of Coptic Christians, usually at the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood. ‘Members of the Muslim Brotherhood have taken their anger out specifically on Christians because many Christians wanted the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi out of power and were speaking out, including the Coptic pope,’ said Jerry Dykstra … ‘So in the last three weeks or so, we’ve seen Christians targeted, especially a Coptic priest who was killed in northern Sinai. By Ruth Sherlock, The Telegraph – “Tens of thousands Syriac Christians – members of the oldest Christian community in the world – have fled their ancestral provinces of Deir al-Zour and Hasakah in northeastern Syria, residents have said.

‘It breaks my heart to think how our long history is being uprooted,’ said Ishow Goriye, the head of a Syriac Christian political Hasakah.

Mr Goriye, told The Daily Telegraph how, over the past two years he has watched as Christian families from Hasakah pack their possessions on the rooftops of their vehicles and flee their homes ‘with little plan to come back’.

Conflict in the area, desperate economic conditions, lawlessness, and persecution by rebel groups born from the perception that Christians support the regime, remain the main reasons for why Christian families are fleeing the area.

The growing presence of radical jihadist groups, including al-Qaeda, has also seen Christians targeted.

‘It began as kidnapping for money, but then they started telling me I should worship Allah,’ a male Christian resident of Hasakah who was kidnapped by jihadists said.

‘I was with five others. We were tied and blindfolded and pushed down on our knees. One of the kidnappers leant so close to my face I could feel his breath. He hissed: ‘Why don’t you become a Muslim? Then you can be free’.’

Another Christian in Hasakah said he knew of ‘five forced conversions’ in recent weeks.

Mr Goriye’s Christian ‘Syriac Union’ party has long been in opposition to President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

While speaking to The Telegraph, its members were loath to criticise the opposition rebels, but many confessed that the situation had become ‘too bad’ not to talk about it.” Read more.

US State Department Issues Worldwide Travel Alert Because Of Al-Qaida Terror Threats

By Brett LoGiurato, Business Insider – “The State Department has issued a worldwide travel alert because of the threat terrorist attacks from al-Qaida and affiliated organizations, it said Friday.

The State Department cited the potential for terrorist attacks in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula.

‘Current information suggests that al-Qaida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August,’ the department said in a statement.

The department said that the alert does not expire until Aug. 31.

On Thursday, the State Department said it would close at least 18 diplomatic posts in the Middle East and surrounding areas because of the threats.

The Department of State alerts U.S. citizens to the continued potential for terrorist attacks, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula.  Current information suggests that al-Qa’ida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August.  This Travel Alert expires on August 31, 2013.

Terrorists may elect to use a variety of means and weapons and target both official and private interests. U.S. citizens are reminded of the potential for terrorists to attack public transportation systems and other tourist infrastructure.  Terrorists have targeted and attacked subway and rail systems, as well as aviation and maritime services.  U.S. citizens should take every precaution to be aware of their surroundings and to adopt appropriate safety measures to protect themselves when traveling.

We continue to work closely with other nations on the threat from international terrorism, including from al-Qa’ida.

World’s Most Influential Islamic Cleric Calls Upon Muslims Around The World To Wage Violent Jihad In Egypt

Once again, the Hitler-defending-nuclear-terror-supporting cleric calls upon all able-bodied death-loving Muslims around the world to engage in violent, blood-spilling jihad. For peaceful purposes, of course …

It’s pretty close to a call for a civil war backed by foreign fighters.It’s the clearest signal yet from a key Muslim Brotherhood figure that he intends to do to Egypt what he did to Syria. If the call was made from Qatar, that would suggest that Qatar will back this war on Egypt the way it has backed a war on Syria.

There have been already claims that many of the hundreds of thousands of Syrian Sunni refugees in Egypt are participating in Muslim Brotherhood riots. But this would take things to the next level.

Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi—one of the most influential Islamic clerics in the world, author of over 100 books on Muslim doctrine, head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, and spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood—has just posted a new video where he calls on all the Muslims of the world to come and wage jihad with their lives in Egypt on behalf of “what’s right”—that is, the return to power of the Muslim Brotherhood.

He called on everyone and anyone—the “sons of Al Azhar,” businessmen, journalists—and from all around the world, specifically mentioning Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Senegal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan.

Qaradawi called on them to be shuhada, “martyrs” who sacrifice their lives in the course of the jihad. Several Egyptian religious authorities have expressed surprise at Qaradawi’s reckless call for jihad in Egypt, saying the latter is not part of Dar al-Harb (Abode of War) where jihad should be waged to bring non-Muslims under Islamic authority, but rather is part of the Islamic world, where Islamic authorities like Qaradawi should be calling for peace, not promoting more bloodshed between Muslims.

The dirty little secret of the Muslim world is that Muslims kill each other in the name of Islam more often than they do non-Muslims. And the objection hasn’t stopped Al Qaeda from declaring non-Islamists or even fellow Islamists, infidels.

Having Qaradawi step forward with something so blatantly Takfiri could be an interesting development in Jihadist doctrine.

A number of the countries that Qaradawi mentioned are known sources of Jihadist fighters. Specifically Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Libya and Jordan. Oddly Qaradawi failed to mention any Gulf states suggesting that he has some quiet agreement with the Qataris and Saudis in place about that.” Source – Frontpage Mag.

Shiites, whose clerics rule Iran with an iron fist, believe that at the end of times, Mahdi, a 9th century prophet, will reappear with Jesus Christ at his side, kill all the infidels and raise the flag of Islam in all four corners of the world, establishing worldwide Islamic governance. Ali Larijani, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, said at the conference that, ‘I hope (Iran’s) Islamic Revolution is that of the righteous government before the coming,’ according to Fars News Agency, the regime’s media outlet run by the Revolutionary Guards. ‘Righteous government’ is a key to Mahdi’s return, the Shiites believe. ‘It has been stated in the Islamic hadith that a wave of uprisings (such as the current upheavals in the Arab world) … takes place before the main uprising and that the righteous government (takes place) before the coming, which I hope (Iran’s) Islamic Revolution is that.’ The speaker said that metaphysics and modern technology have diminished human spiritualism, causing a sense of nervousness in which people have lost hope, and that this effect will reach its maximum before the coming. ‘All mental crises are rooted in hopelessness and despair in life,’ Larijani said, ‘and from a society point of view, this is because the big powers of the world are pushing for a culture that has no identity and with their power give their illicit desires a legal aspect. Experts: Muslim Brotherhood Will Strengthen In Egypt Despite Military Control

Now that Egypt’s Islamists have had a taste of power they will never be satisfied with anything less than the main course …

By Daniel Wiser, The Washington Free Beacon – “The seizure of control by the military in Egypt will likely embolden the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood and could push the country into a devastating civil war resembling Algeria in the 1990s, experts on the region said Monday.

The experts presented a dour outlook for Egypt, a country struggling to erect a functioning democracy after sixty years of military and dictatorial rule, at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

Violence has spread in the country since Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi deposed President Mohamed Morsi, a member of the Brotherhood, on July 3 in response to protests of his increasingly authoritarian rule. Almost 300 people have died in fighting between pro- and anti-Morsi camps as the military attempts to restore stability and stage elections within six months.

The Muslim Brotherhood has so far declined invitations to meet with the interim government, an early indication that they could be disillusioned with democracy after Morsi’s downfall, said Samuel Tadros, a research fellow at the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom.

‘The idea that only through the bullet can you have the dream will certainly tempt another generation of Islamists,’ he said.

There are also early signs that continued Brotherhood intransigence could spark an overcorrection from the military, said Reuel Marc Gerecht, a senior fellow with the foundation. Egyptian security forces shot at least 83 Brotherhood supporters over the weekend, according to reports.

Further crackdowns by the Egyptian military would parallel civil strife in other African nations, such as Algeria, the experts said.

Efforts by the Algerian armed forces to ban the country’s Islamist party from elections in the early 1990s triggered a larger conflict that raged until a ceasefire in 1997.

‘Algeria later said the violence was a mistake,’ Gerecht said. ‘I don’t know that that type of wisdom will be translated well through North Africa.'” Read more.

Muslim Persecution of Christians: May, 2013, ‘Christians Murdered Nonstop In Nigeria’

By Raymond Ibrahim, Gatestone Institute – “Nigeria continues to be the most dangerous nation for Christians—where more Christians have been killed last year than all around the Muslim world combined. In one instance, Boko Haram Muslim militants stormed the home of a Pentecostal pastor and secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria, and opened fire on him, instantly murdering him.

Separately, other Boko Haram gunmen killed 14 Christians, including the cousin and two nephews of the Rev. Moses Thliza, head of a Christian organization dedicated to preventing AIDS and caring for AIDS patients and orphans: Said Thliza: ‘My cousin, Bulus [Paul] Buba, was dragged out at gunpoint from his house by the Boko Haram members. They collected his car keys, demanded money and asked him three times to renounce his Christian faith, and three times he declined to do so [prompting them to execute him]. The attackers met three guards on duty, killed two of them by cutting their necks with knives, and then proceeded to take the third guard, Amtagu Samiyu, at gunpoint to lead them to where the keys of the deputy governor’s house is.’

As for some Christians observing a wake two kilometers away, Boko Haram Muslims asked to know what was going on there, and when they learned that people were saying prayers for an elderly Christian woman who had died, they charged in and shot into the crowd. ‘The attackers went there and shot indiscriminately at the worshippers, killing eight Christians—two women and six elderly men,’ said Thliza. ‘In all, we buried 14 Christians. Some were injured and taken to the hospital.’

Despite all this, when the Nigerian government tried militarily to confront and neutralize Boko Haram, the Obama administration criticized it, warning it not to violate the ‘human rights’ of the Islamic terrorists.

Church Attacks

Bosnia: The Serbian Orthodox church of Saint Sava in Sarajevo, where Muslims make up approximately half of the population, was ‘desecrated‘ and six of its windows panes broken. The unidentified vandals wrote ‘Allah’ in dark paint twice on the church wall. A month earlier, unidentified persons tried to set the church on fire.

Central African Republic: According to the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace, since an Islamic rebel leader proclaimed himself president, the situation for Christians, has ‘deeply worsened.’ The organization warns against ‘the evil intentions for the programmed and planned desecration and destruction of religious Christian buildings, and in particular the Catholic and Protestant churches…. All over the country the Catholic Church has paid a high price.’ Several dioceses have been seriously damaged and plundered, and priests and nuns attacked (more information below, under ‘Dhimmitude.’)

Egypt: Two Coptic Christian churches were attacked, one in Alexandria, the other in Upper Egypt. St. Mary in Alexandria was attacked by Molotov cocktails and bricks, causing the gate to burn and the stained glass windows to shatter. One thousand Christians tried to defend the church against 20,000 Muslims screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ [‘Allah is Greater’]. One Copt was killed and several injured. In the village of Menbal in Upper Egypt, after ‘Muslim youths’ harassed Christian girls—including hurling bags of urine at them—and Coptic men came to their rescue, another Muslim mob stormed the village church of Prince Tadros el-Mashreki.
