By Raymond Ibrahim, Gatestone Institute – “The Islamic jihad against Christians in Nigeria is proving to be the most barbaric. A new report states that 70% of Christians killed around the world in 2012 were killed in that African nation. Among some of the atrocities committed in March alone, at least 41 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack at a bus station in a predominantly Christian neighborhood. According to the Christian Association of Nigeria, these attacks ‘were a signpost of the intended extermination of Christians and Christianity from northern Nigeria.’

According to the Rev. Jerome Ituah, ‘Out of the 52 Catholic churches in Maiduguri diocese, 50 of them have been destroyed by [terrorist group] Boko Haram. When two Christian brothers were returning home after Sunday church service, jihadis opened fire on them with machine guns, killing the brothers, as well as three others, and injuring several more Christians.’

Another 13 Christian factory workers in Kano were ‘gruesomely’ slain. According to the local bishop, ‘Reports of the attack reaching us disclosed that on that fateful Saturday at about 7 p.m, Muslim faithful were conducting their prayer close to the affected compound occupied by Christian families, when two taxi cabs stopped in front of the compound and the occupants, who all concealed their arms, dashed into the complex and demanded to know why the residents were not part of the 7 p.m. Muslim prayer. They responded by telling the visitors they were Christians and so could not be part of the Muslim gathering. At that point, they separated the men from their wives and children and shot them dead on the spot after ordering the women and children into their homes’ to be enslaved.

The bishop added that, ‘government should show more concern, like it has always done when Muslims are affected; I have not seen that in the case of Christians—that 13 Christians were killed in one straight attack and nothing is heard from the government reflects selective justice because we are aware of compensation paid to Muslim families in situations of this nature.’

However, the Nigerian government recently did go on the offensive to try to contain the jihadis in northern Nigeria—only to be chastised, according to Reuters, by the Obama administration, in the person of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, ‘in a strongly worded statement, saying: ‘We are… deeply concerned by credible allegations that the Nigerian security forces are committing gross human rights violations…..’ against the jihadi mass murderers.

Church Attacks

Egypt: According to El Watan News, three Christian brothers were shot dead at their home by automatic weapons a few weeks before two of them were set to have their weddings. The victims’ family was earlier accused of trying to build a church on land they owned after purchasing building material to build a house on that land. The rumors about the building of a church spread during the Friday sermon at the mosque, following which, 2,000 Muslims stormed the land and tried to destroy the house, a car and a tractor, resulting in the murder of the three Christian brothers.

Indonesia: Authorities demolished a church building with a bulldozer in West Java, even as Muslim bystanders cheered and denounced Christians as ‘infidels.’ According to Pastor Leonard Nababan, the government is ‘criminalising our religion.’ The congregation had gathered around the church in an effort to save it; so did Muslims, shouting, ‘They’re infidels and they’ve built their church without permission;’ ‘Knock the church down now,’ and ‘Allahu Akbar’ [‘Allah is Greater’].

AsiaNews – “The public execution of Muhammad al-Qatta, a young coffee seller brutally assassinated on Sunday by a group of jihadists in Aleppo for insulting Muhammad, ‘is a terrible event that shocked the entire population of the city, Muslims and Christians, who do not want an Islamic state in Syria,’ Mgr Jean Clement Jeanbart, Melkite Archbishop of Aleppo, told AsiaNews. For the prelate, such an act is yet another example of the brutality of foreign militants fighting in Syria.

‘Christians,’ he explained, ‘are terrified by these militias and fear that in the event of their victory they would no longer be able to practice their religion and that they would be forced to leave the country.’ Sending more weapons to the country would only lead to more such cases of violence, he added.

For Mgr Jeanbart, Islamic Courts are a scourge that plagues most of the areas controlled by al-Qaeda affiliated foreign militias, which are also opposed by local pro-rebel groups, not to mention by supporters of Bashar al-Assad.

‘As soon as they reached the city,’ the bishop said, ‘Islamist guerrillas, almost all of them from abroad, took over the mosques. Every Friday, an imam launches their messages of hate, calling on the population to kill anyone who does not practice the religion of the Prophet Muhammad. Syria: Islamists Execute 15-Year-Old Boy From Aleppo In Front Of Parents For ‘Heretical Comment’

No word on whether the child was Christian, but they accused the 15-year-old boy of “polytheism”, a false charge that Muslims often use to describe the Christian belief in the Triunity of God …

Reuters – “Members of an al Qaeda-linked Islamist group in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo executed a 15-year-old boy in front of his parents on Sunday as punishment for what the group regarded as a heretical comment, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Mohammad Qataa was shot in the face and neck a day after being seized, said the pro-opposition monitoring group, which is based in Britain and uses a network of observers across Syria.

‘The Observatory cannot ignore these crimes, which only serve the enemies of the revolution and the enemies of humanity,’ said the group’s leader Rami Abdulrahman.

A photo released by the Observatory showed Qataa’s face with his mouth and jaw bloodied and destroyed, as well as a bullet wound in his neck.

The Observatory, which based its report on witness accounts of the killing, said Qataa, who was a street vendor selling coffee in the working-class Shaar neighborhood, had been arguing with someone when he was overheard saying: ‘Even if the Prophet Mohammad comes down (from heaven), I will not become a believer.’

The gunmen, who belong to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, a militant group that started off known as the Nusra Front, took Qatta on Saturday and brought him back alive in the early hours of Sunday to his wooden stand, with whiplash marks visible on his body.

‘People gathered around him and a member of the fighting brigade said: ‘Generous citizens of Aleppo, disbelieving in God is polytheism and cursing the prophet is a polytheism. Whoever curses even once will be punished like this.’

‘He then fired two bullets from an automatic rifle in view of the crowd and in front of the boy’s mother and father, and got into a car and left,’ the report said.” Read more.

It Was Only A Matter Of Time: Turkish PM Erdogan Begins Blaming The Jews For Nationwide Protests, Civil Unrest

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, one of Barack Hussein Obama’s greatest allies in the region, has openly blamed Israel for “insecurity” in the Middle East many times before. It’s quite apparent that he still perceives his southern Jewish neighbor as the root of all regional instabilities. If Turkey’s nationwide protests continue, what is implicitly inferred today may be explicitly expressed tomorrow. And we all have a pretty good idea of where this will all eventually lead …

By Lori Lowenthal Marcus, The Jewish Press – “In one of Turkey’s largest newspapers, Sabah, the blame for all the rioting and ensuing damage to the Turkish economy is finally being blamed on the same people who were blamed for the Bubonic Plague, the death of the leader of one of the world’s great religions and Mel Gibson’s fall from grace…the financial lobby – some would call that code for ‘Jews.’

On Friday, June 7, an article appears in Sabah that reveals Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to ‘tens of thousands’ of supporters who came out to greet him when he returned from a three day visit to North African countries.

Erdoğan’s trip abroad happened during the worst of the ongoing nationwide protests in Istanbul’s Taksim Square, which were sparked by plans to level a large park to be used instead for commercial purposes.

‘We’ve gotten to this point despite the interest rates lobby, and this lobby right now thinks it’s threatening Turkey with speculation in the markets,’ is how Bloomberg reported the event. ‘No power can stop Turkey’s rise except God,’ while supporters chanted: ‘Open the way and we’ll crush Taksim.’

Erdogan has accused ‘extremist’ groups, including terrorist from far-left organizations, and ‘unidentified foreign provocateurs’ of having a role in the fiercest anti-government protests in years.

But Sabah, a fiercely pro-Erdoğan media outlet, merely quoted the Turkish Prime Minister of blaming a non-specific ‘financial lobby’ or ‘interest lobby.’  Perhaps Walt or Mearsheimer are looking for reporting opportunities – they may be a good fit for Sabah.” Read more.

Danish Defence Intelligence: ‘Greatest Threat To The West’ Is European Jihad-Tourists Returning From Syria To Carry Out Attacks

The greatest threat to the West from al-Qaeda’s involvement in Syria is Westerners who have links to the militant network and return home with bad intentions, estimates The Danish Defence Intelligence Service.The Defence Intelligence Service (FE) is closely monitoring the civil war in Syria and its influence on Denmark’s security.

This is the conclusion in a new report from the FE that gives an insight into FE’s assessments and general work in 2011 and 2012.

“The primary threat to the West from al-Qaeda’s involvement in Syria is Westerners who get weapons training, combat experience and contact with the militant network and then travel back to the West to carry out attacks,” says the report.

By Elizabeth Harrington, CNS News – “A new report documents the failures of Muslim outreach conducted by the U.S. government before and after the Sept. 11 attacks, faulting both Republican and Democrat administrations for reaching out to known terrorist funders and leaders.

Published by the Israel-based Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center by Patrick Poole, a counterterrorism consultant and investigative reporter, the 14,000-word exposé details the federal government’s ‘long-standing policy of engaging extremists.’

Among the many examples, Poole cites government leaders inviting radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki to the Pentagon, just months after one of his spiritual disciples had flown a plane into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001.

The report, ‘Blind to Terror: The U.S. Government’s Disastrous Muslim Outreach Efforts and the Impact on U.S. Middle East Policy,’ finds that a ‘campaign of political correctness’  has been ingrained in government, hindering investigations and resulting in culturally sensitive policies towards Islam, such as guidelines that required FBI agents to remove their shoes before raiding a mosque that financially supported the Taliban.

According to the report, President Obama issued a directive in August 2011 ordering law enforcement to engage ‘community partners’ to help combat ‘violent extremism.’

‘One example of the effect of this new policy are the Shari’a-compliant guidelines that federal law enforcement officials must now comply with when conducting raids related to Islamic leaders or institutions,’ Poole explains.  ‘This was exhibited in May 2011, when the FBI raided a South Florida mosque and arrested its imam and his son for financially supporting the Taliban.’

The rules required law enforcement officials to remove their shoes before entering the mosque and dogs were barred from property, Poole said.  ‘The common sense of these new rules undoubtedly would have been put to the test had the subjects tried to flee, to be pursued by shoeless federal agents.’

The report also reveals that numerous leaders linked to terrorism have been used as conduits for the Muslim community since the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, under the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations.

Poole points to Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi, who was a regular visitor to the White House under both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, who asked him to help train Muslim military chaplains.  He made six taxpayer-funded trips as a civilian goodwill ambassador to the Middle East for the State Department beginning in 1997.

But throughout his time working with the government, al-Amoudi was a major fundraiser for al-Qaeda.” Read more.

Muhammad Shalabi said that the al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front is heading to all of the areas where Hezbollah fighters are stationed, the Jerusalem Post reported Wednesday.

‘It is a duty to carry out jihad against all of the aggressors,’ he said. ‘We call openly to fight this party,’ he said, urging the Sunnis in Lebanon and Syria to target Hezbollah’s positions, the Jerusalem Post reported.

One of the politicians suggested sending special forces in to destroy Ethiopia’s dam across the Blue Nile. Another called for Egypt to support rebel groups fighting the Ethiopian government, while another suggested sending jet fighters to intimidate the Ethiopians. Apparently they were not informed that a last-minute decision was made to broadcast the meeting on live television …

It introduces exhibitionist religiosity in people’s lives: there is no issue if a woman wears a burqa, but the problem is a body of religious and political ideas that makes her choose such a dress code. It is pertinent here to look at recent examples of how Islamism unfolds in everyday life.

In 2010, Islamists in Kerala chopped off the hand of college lecturer T J Joseph for setting a question paper which they deemed as disrespecting Prophet Muhammad. In 2011, Islamists led by Syed Ahmed Bukhari forced an exhibition on the ‘Koran in 53 languages’, organised by Ahmadiyya Jamaat in Delhi, to be shut. Not long ago, actor-producer Kamal Hassan was compelled by Islamists in Tamil Nadu to edit his movie Vishwaroopam for showing that jihadists recited Koranic verses before launching attacks. In May, tens of thousands of Bangladeshis led by Islamist group Hefajat-e-Islam marched through Dhaka, demanding stricter blasphemy laws. Pakistani media is full of reports of Hindu girls being converted to Islam forcibly, Christians being accused of blasphemy, homes and mosques of Ahmadi Muslims being vandalised, Shias being declared infidels and murdered.

In Egypt, Islamists are targeting Christians through lawsuits, accusing them of blaspheming Islam, and liberal Muslims are quitting government jobs. In Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, Islamists killed a man for selling alcohol recently. In Tunisia, Islamists desecrated Jewish cemeteries, and attacked art galleries and cinemas. In Turkey, Islamists stabbed couples who kissed in an Ankara metro station recently to protest against moral policing by Turkish authorities. To make a point, Turkey is building a $100-million mega mosque in America. Jordan is witnessing public demonstrations by Islamists. In a British prison, an Islamist inmate recruited two others to beat up guards in May. In all these cases, there is a single binding factor: Islam. The jihadists of Al-Qaeda variety and Islamists share the same ideological objectives, with the only distinction being that the former are armed and consider themselves fighting on a battlefield against infidels. Their goal is: establishing Sharia rule. Islamism is a softer face of jihadists, sometimes masquerading as liberal Islam in our midst.

Driven by an ideological longing to revive the glory of Islamic caliphate, Islamists are open to using Western tools of election, constitution and the rule of law in introducing Islam in a country’s politics, governance, literature, culture and architecture. Their tactic is to win an election, re-write a country’s constitution to make it compliant with Islam and begin Islamising.” Read more.

Fox News – “FORT HOOD, Texas –  A judge says she won’t decide whether to delay the Fort Hood shooting suspect’s trial until he provides evidence to support his defense strategy — and she might not accept it.

Maj. Nidal Hasan said Tuesday his defense will explain that he killed 13 people in the 2009 shooting rampage because soldiers were about to deploy to Afghanistan. He says he was trying to prevent the imminent death of Taliban fighters.A ‘defense of others’ strategy requires defendants to prove they killed a person or people to protect others from immediate danger or death.

Hasan, who’s representing himself at his murder trial, is seeking a three-month delay. The judge may rule Wednesday, delaying jury selection until at least Monday.

By Richard Spencer, The Telegraph – “Yusef al-Qaradawi, who is based in Qatar and has been a leading voice supporting the Arab Spring, warned that Iranian Shia were trying to ‘eat’ Sunni Muslims, who are a majority in the Muslim world.

He referred to Alawites, the followers of the Muslim sect to which President Bashar al-Assad of Syria belongs, as being ‘worse infidels than Christians or Jews’. He also used the deliberately contemptuous term ‘Nusayris’ when talking about them.

He was particularly critical of the roles played by Iran, which is largely Shia, and the Lebanon Shia militia Hizbollah whose name translates as Party of God but which he called ‘Party of Satan’, in supporting the Assad regime.

‘There is no common ground between the two sides because the Iranians, especially conservatives, want to eat the Sunni people,’ he said.

The Syrian opposition is dominated, like Syria itself, by Sunni Muslims, but also includes a number of Christians, Alawites and other minorities.

However, Alawite militias loyal to the Assads have been responsible for sectarian attacks on Sunni villages, while there are also increasing reports of sectarian attacks by militant Sunni jihadists, many of whom regard the Shia and Alawites as heretics.

In recent days, a number of Shia shrines have been attacked and desecrated in rebel-held territory, including the tombs of Ammar ibn Yasir in Raqqa and of Hujr bin Uday al-Kindi near Damascus.

Alawite leaders have openly called for Sunni areas to be ‘cleansed’ …

He said Sunni Muslims around the world should not wait for the West to help the rebel cause against the ‘Nusayris’, the Iranians and ‘the party of God’ [Hezbollah]. ‘They are the party of Satan, the party of the tyrant,’ he said. ‘The party of God does not kill [Sunni] Muslims, and these people draw close to God by killing [Sunni] Muslims.'” Read more.

An English-language version of the spring 2013 issue of the online publication, obtained Thursday by NBC News, contains multiple articles praising alleged Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and one on last week’s gruesome knife slaying of a British soldier in London.

‘When one looks at the terrific Boston Marathon operation and its aftermath, including the accusation of the two brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, he understands how a single lone jihad operation can force America to stand on one foot and live in a terrified state, full of fear and rare restlessness,’ reads one article under the byline Abu Abdillah Almoravid.

Unlike the last edition of the publication in March, which contained bomb-building recipes – including one using a pressure cooker, similar to the devices deployed near the marathon finish line – and other suggested methods for inflicting small-scale terrorism, the new 39-page issue has numerous pieces aimed at the American audience.

A ‘Letter from the Editor’ warns, ‘Americans, you should understand this simple equation: as you kill you will be killed. The war is yet to cease, it has barely started. Yesterday it was Baghdad, today it is Boston. The question of ‘who and why’ should be kept aside, You should be asking, ‘Where is next?”” Read more.
