Report: Would-Be Suicide Bomber Boards Nigerian Plane, Attempts To Detonate Bomb In Mid-Air For Allah

Update: Airline says no bomb found

The Street Journal – “The wave of terror attacks in Nigeria seem took a new turn on Tuesday as reports of a suicide bomb attempt to blow up an Arik Air plane flying from Maiduguri to Abuja jolted Nigerians . A suspected member of the Boko Haram sect who had boarded in Maiduguri, Borno State got up mid-air and told all the passengers to say their last prayers. As he brought out the explosive device, he disclosed that his main targets were the white people in the aircraft.

The explosive device failed to detonate before the plane landed in Abuja. Police bomb experts moved in and the suspected terrorist was arrested when the plane touched down in Abuja. How he passed security checks at the airport with the explosive device remains unknown. Personnel at the local wing of the airport are keeping mum over the issue as no one wants to be quoted.

Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah denied that there was an attempt to bomb any Arik aircraft. The Minister via her Twitter handle described it as a rumour as she tweeted ‘The alleged Breaking News about a bomb scare on an Arik flight is absolutely false. There is no iota of truth whatsoever in this rumour.’ Five minutes later, she tweeted ‘The flying public should please go about their normal businesses as the airport/airspace is safe. Thank you.’

Arik Air too released a statement denying the attempt. According to Arik Air management, ‘a passenger on board flight W 3 812 from Maiduguri to Abuja caused a scare when he started shouting Allah Akbar shortly before the aircraft landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The frightened passengers on board the flight became suspicious thinking the man was about to do something sinister. All the passengers on board the flight, including the man in question, had all gone through the normal security check at the Maiduguri International Airport and nothing incriminating was found on anyone’.

The airline also assured passengers that they have ‘nothing to fear as the airline’s Aviation Security Department is one of the most sophisticated in the industry.’

Street Journal however gathered that the bomber came in as the last passenger in First Class and he spoke Queen’s English and Hausa fluently. He claimed they were three bombers that were supposed to enter the plane but two could not make it due to security. The bomber wired himself and used bandages to cover up. He gave his age as 27 and he identified three members of the Joint Task Force on board by name.

The attempt on the airline has shown the dynamism of the dreaded Islamist sect. Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force had earlier hinted that the sect has plans to launch attacks on Sallah day.” Source – The Street Journal.

The Truth About Libya – Obama’s Failed Foreign Policy

10/23/2012 3 comments

Description: “America was attacked on September 11th, 2012 by Al Qaeda at our consulate in Libya. Our consulate was burned and four Americans including our ambassador were murdered. President Obama and his administration denied it was a terrorist attack for weeks. Since then, Americans have learned that Obama and his administration knew it was an act of terror all along and chose to tell the public it was because of a Youtube video protest. It’s time for Obama to tell the truth on Libya. We can’t afford more apologies, excuses, and weakness.”

Indonesia: Islamic Extremists Set Fire To Protestant Church In Poso In Latest Example Of Anti-Christian Violence

10/23/2012 Leave a comment

By Mathias Hariyadi, AsiaNews – “Jakarta (AsiaNews) – The city of Poso, in the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi, has been the scene of renewed sectarian violence against the local Protestant minority. Overnight on Sunday, unknown assailants set fire to the Madele Pentecostal Church. The quick intervention of the congregation stopped the fire from spreading and spared the building from serious damages. The anti-Christian attack ‘occurred last night around midnight,’ Poso Police Chief Eko Santoso said, confirming the sectarian nature of the incident. Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim nation, but Poso Regency (District) has a large Christian community. It saw bloody clashes that left thousands of people dead on both sides until a peace deal was struck in 2002.

The fire started when a collection box was doused with petrol and then set alight. Flames eventually spread to the pastor’s residence. Only the intervention of the fire department and volunteers prevented the blaze from causing major damages to the two buildings. Rev Aben thanked villagers, including “some Muslims,” who came to rescue, playing a decisive role in preventing the fire from spreading.

Yesterday, two car bombs also exploded near a police traffic post, wounding three people, including two police agents on duty at the time. Investigators believe the post was the target.

‘The terrorist group used a sophisticated device in which they detonated the bomb remotely through a mobile handset,’ one agent said.

In recent weeks, Poso has been the scene of renewed sectarian violence. The port city has seen attacks against Christian-owned buildings, including places of worship.

Two law enforcement agents have also been murdered under mysterious circumstances. They went missing whilst investigating a recent attack against a prominent member of the Christian community. Their bodies were found after eight days on the side of a road near a training centre connected to an extremist Muslim group.” Read more.

Flashback: Massive Increase of Radical Islamism Spreads Throughout Indonesia, Including ‘Top-Quality’ Universities – “The suicide bombing of a church in Central Java on Sept. 25 pointed not only to a new level of attacks on religious minorities in the world’s largest Muslim-majority country but to a political bent that accommodates Islamist extremism. ‘Radicalization of Islamic teachings and understanding is a problem in Indonesia,’ admitted Dr. H. Nasaruddin Umar, director general of Islamic Community Guidance under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. ‘There’s a need to re-explain the concept of jihad.’ Pino Damayanto, aka Ahmad Yosepa Hayat, who blew himself up wounding over 20 members of the Sepenuh Injil Bethel Church (Bethel Full Gospel Church) in Solo on Sept. 25, apparently believed it was his religious duty to kill ‘the enemies of Islam,’ according to his understanding of ‘jihad.’” Read more.

Somalia: Al-Shebab Islamists Threaten To Wage ‘Worst-Ever’ Terror Attack Against Britain

10/23/2012 3 comments

Star Africa – “Somalia’s Islamist Shebab militia have warned Britain it would ‘pay the heftiest price’ for its ‘war against Islam’ and the extradition of radical cleric Abu Hamza to the United States.

In a series of eleven posts written by Shebab’s Press Office on its Twitter page, the radical group threatened to inflict on Britain its worst-ever attack.

‘The nightmare that surreptitiously looms on British shores is bound to eclipse the horrors of 7/7 and 21/7 combined,’ said one message.

The London bombings on July 7, 2005, were a series of co-ordinated suicide attacks on the city’s public transport which killed 52 civilians and the four bombers.

Two weeks later, four attempted bomb attacks disrupted part of the city’s public transport system.

Another message read: ‘Britain will pay the heftiest price for its brazen role in the war against Islam and endless brutality against innocent Muslims.’

The Al-Qaeda linked group also vowed to ‘go to every possible length to attain the freedom of imprisoned Muslim scholars.’

A 17,000-strong African Union force, fighting alongside government forces, has in recent months wrested control of a string of Shebab strongholds including the bastion of Kismayo, a strategic southern port.” Read more.

Syria: Car Bomb Timed To Detonate In Christian Quarter Of Damascus As People Were Travelling To Church, 10 Killed

By Ruth Sherlock, The Telegraph – “A car bomb exploded outside a police station in the Old City of Damascus on Sunday, drawing the city’s historical Christian quarter into the civil war.

Up to 10 people were killed and 15 wounded as the charge detonated at the historical gate of Bab Touma, a busy pick up point for taxis and buses.

‘The bomb exploded as people were moving to go to Churches for Sunday mass. It exploded just outside the police station. There was a bus stop right beside it,’ said a resident calling himself George who works in a hotel just a few streets away from the explosion. ‘I felt the explosion. The ground beneath me shook and I can see black smoke rising from the area.

‘Terrorists are doing this,’ said George, a Christian who, like many residents in Bab Touma lives in fear of the rebel fighters trying to gain control of the capital.

Encircled by thick rock historic city walls, the narrow alleyways and wooden roofed Damascene homes of the Old City had thus far remained largely insulated from the fighting that has reached the capital in recent months…

The bomb detonated as UN peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi met with President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.” Read more.

Twisted Appeasement: Barack Obama’s Foreign Policy Assumes America Is Not The Enemy Of Islamists, But Islamists Say Otherwise

10/22/2012 Leave a comment

By BARRY RUBIN, Jerusalem Post – “One of President Barack Obama’s main themes is to convince Middle East Islamists that America is not their enemy. But the reason this strategy never works is that the radicals know better. The United States is their enemy.

No amount of sympathy, empathy, economic aid, apology or appeasement will change this fact. Nor did such efforts succeed in making either Obama or the United States popular in such circles and the tens of millions of people influenced by them. The only thing surprising about all of this is that so few ‘experts’ and politicians seem to comprehend it.

There are a number of reasons why this is true, though many people mistakenly think they must find just one factor that explains this reality. The causes of this enmity include:

• American policies. True, the United States has supported Israel and also many Arab regimes over the years – including countries like Morocco, Tunisia, post- Gaddafi Libya, Egypt, pre-Hezbollah Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, post-Saddam Iraq and the United Arab Emirates. The Islamists are equally unhappy with the US support for the Palestinian Authority.

In short, US support for any non-radical regime makes radicals angry and will always do so.

So what if the United States is nice to radical or Islamist regimes? Will that help? No. The radicals still keep their goals – which include throwing US influence out of the region and overthrowing its allies – no matter what Washington tries to do to please them. In the context of their ideology, they interpret US concessions as signs of weakness which thus invite them to become even more militant and aggressive.

In Libya and Iraq, the governments have been pretty much directly installed by America. Thus, anyone who wants to overthrow those governments has a strong vested interest in hating and attacking Americans. The assassination of the ambassador to Libya wasn’t an accident or the result of a video but the inevitable and logical outcome of the political situation there.

As for Israel, giving that country less help would not change the radical view. Only if the United States had the same policy as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood might it be forgiven. Merely putting more space between the United States and Israel, to paraphrase Obama’s stated intention, won’t do it. Even brokering a comprehensive peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, which isn’t going to happen of course, won’t help.

On the contrary, the radicals – especially Hamas, its Egyptian backers and Iran – would go into a frenzy of denunciation and attempt to destroy the arrangements, the failure of which would then be blamed on America. In the Middle East, peacemakers aren’t blessed, they’re assassinated.” Read more.

Nigeria: Islamic Militants Attack And Torch Churches, Hundreds Flee, Dozens Killed

10/21/2012 Leave a comment

By Paul Jongas and Stefan J. Bos – “At least hundreds of residents began fleeing northeastern Nigeria Sunday, October 21, after three days of Islamic attacks against churches and other targets left dozens dead.

Among the churches hit by suspected fighters of the militant Boko Haram group since Thursday, October 18, was an evangelical congregation in Nigeria’s troubled Borno State.

Reporters said gunmen of attacked the building of the Church of Brethren in Nigeria in Atagara village in the Gwoza area, killing at least two people.

The entire church was reportedly set ablaze as part of a wider campaign in the state that also involved killing a Chinese engineer and three colleagues.

CHURCH TORCHED

At least one church was also torched by militants in the northeastern city of Potiskum, where at least 31 people were killed in the last three days, including one or more policemen, according to refugees and reporters.

Most churches were closed Sunday, October 21, as worshipers kept away for fear of attack, residents said.

‘Christian residents stayed home for safety reasons,’ French news agency AFP quoted resident Bukar Kolo as saying. ‘A church was also burnt in the attack and people are afraid to go for Sunday church service for fear of possible attack,’ he said.

It was not immediately clear how many Christians were among the dead and injured in Potiskum, but witnesses said that besides the church many other properties had been burned.

HIGHER DEATH TOLL?

Residents said the toll could be higher than the reported 31 killed in Potiskum, as some relations had taken some bodies from the streets for burial.

Boko Haram, which means ‘Western Education is a Sin’ has been fighting for an Islamic state in especially central and northern Nigeria, where it has demanded that Christians leave the area.

The militant campaign and the military response are believed to have left more than 2,800 people dead since 2009.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation and largest oil producer, is divided between a mainly Muslim north and predominantly Christian south.

The government has come under pressure to improve security, though soldiers were seen patrolling the streets of the crisis-hit areas.” Source – BosNewsLife.

America Must Suspend Immigration From Muslim Majority Nations ‘For Our National Security … For Our Very Survival’

10/20/2012 2 comments

As long as Barack Obama is President, Muslim immigrants will continue to flood America  …

By Bryan Fischer, Renew America – “Andy McCarthy and others have strongly suggested that we must suspend the practice of allowing Muslims from Muslim-majority nations around the world to immigrate to the United States. I agree with them.

The reason is very simple: it’s necessary for our national security and indeed may be necessary for our very survival.

A case in point, as Robert Spencer points out in FrontPage magazine: Quazi Mohammad Rexwanul Ahsan Nafis, arrested this week for trying to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank in New York. He was here on a student visa from Bangladesh, which is about 90% Muslim.

This Muslim came to the United States not to study but to kill. His stated purpose: ‘I don’t want something that’s like, small. I just want something big. Something very big … that will shake the whole country, that will make America, not one step ahead, change of policy, and make one step ahead, for the Muslims … that will make us one step closer to run the whole world.’ In his own words, he wanted to ‘destroy America.’ And we invited him in!

Here’s the problem. Nobody who knew him could see this coming. In fact, they were all shocked, shocked I tell you, to learn that he was capable of such evil. Said his father: ‘He is very gentle and devoted to his studies.’

He’s far from the only one. Kifah Jayyousi was charged with ‘conspiring to kidnap, maim and murder’ on behalf of Islam in Bosnia, Kosovo and Chechnya. But the superintendent of Detroit Public Schools said he was ‘a great guy, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.’

Even Americans who convert to Islam can fool you, which means we have enough problems with jihadism internally that it is foolish in the extreme to import more.” Read more.

She said Pimentel’s fierce embrace of Islam — he converted in 2004, according to police — prompted her to move him back to the city from Schenectady in early 2010. ‘I brought him here because I didn’t like the way he was acting,’ she said… The move did not dampen his fervor.” Read more.

Rapid Rise In Anti-Semitic Statements From High Ranking Public Figures In Egypt Worries ADL

10/20/2012 1 comment

ADL.org – “The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today expressed deepening concern over the anti-Semitic rhetoric coming from the highest echelons of Egyptian society.

In a nationally broadcast Friday sermon attended by Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and other high ranking government officials at the Al-Tanaeem Mosque in Mersa Matruh, Imam Fatouh Abdul Nabi, who is the head of the Islamic Endowment in Matruh Governorate, called on God to ‘deal harshly with the Jews and those who are allied with them.’

At the conclusion of the sermon, which primarily focused on how Muslims should use their conscience to control their actions, Imam Abdul Nabi said, ‘Our God, grant us victory over the infidels… Our God, deal harshly with the Jews and those who are allied with them… Our God, our God, deal harshly with the Jews and those who are allied with them… Our God, frighten their masses… Our God, disperse their union… Our God, show us your strength over them, your greatness over them… Our God, reveal to us your wrath over them, you are the Lord of creatures.’

During this part of the sermon, President Morsi was shown on television mouthing ‘amen.’

‘The drumbeat of anti-Semitism in the ‘new’ Egypt is growing louder and reverberating further under President Morsi and we are increasingly concerned about the continuing expressions of hatred for Jews and Israel in Egyptian society and President Morsi’s silence in the face of most of these public expressions of hate,’ said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. ‘The United States and other governments with influence on the Egyptian leadership should publicly urge President Morsi to speak out against this disturbing manifestation of hatred toward Jews.’

New Poll: Egyptians Turning Toward Iran, 87% Want Nuclear Weapons

10/20/2012 Leave a comment

There’s only one reason that I can think of why the overwhelming majority of Egyptians would want nuclear weapons …

By Josh Rogin, Foreign Policy – “A poll of Egyptians conducted last month shows that they have increasingly positive views of Iran, believe that both Iran and Egypt should obtain nuclear weapons, and still trust their own military more than any other institution in Egypt.

The poll of 812 Egyptians, half of them women, was conducted in a series of in-person interviews by the firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner and sponsored by the Israel Project, a pro-Israel advocacy organization with offices in Washington and Jerusalem. According to the poll, Iran is viewed favorably in Egypt, with 65 percent of those surveyed expressing support of the decision to renew Egypt-Iran relations and 61 percent expressing support of the Iranian nuclear project, versus 41 percent in August 2009.

Sixty-two percent of those polled agreed that ‘Iran and its president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, are friends of Egypt,’ though 68 percent held unfavorable views of Shiite Muslims.

Iran’s deputy defense minister said recently that the Iranian regime is seeking more military cooperation with Egypt. ‘We are ready to help Egypt to build nuclear reactors and satellites,’ he said on the occasion or Egyptian President Mohammed Morsy’s meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last month. Morsy’s office has said the two didn’t discuss military cooperation.

Eighty-seven percent of respondents want Egypt to have its own nuclear bomb.

Israel Project CEO Josh Block told The Cable that the statistics show the effect of Morsy’s outreach to Iran and the danger of regional proliferation of nuclear weapons if Iran is successful in obtaining a nuclear bomb.

‘Very scary to people opposed to proliferation of nuclear weapons, let alone to unstable countries in the world’s most turbulent part of the world, is the 87 percent who want Egypt to build nuclear weapons,’ he said. ‘Morsy’s dangerous embrace of Iran is leading a surprising shift in favor support for Tehran, which has for decades been seen by Egyptians as their top threat, as well as for their work on nuclear weapons.'” Read more.

‘Spoils Of War’: The Rape And Murder Of Pakistan’s Christian Children

10/19/2012 9 comments

By RAYMOND IBRAHIM, Family Security Matters – “The West sighed in relief when Rimsha Masih, the 14-year-old Christian girl arrested in Pakistan on August 16 for allegedly burning pages of the Quran, was finally released. Yet the West remains clueless concerning the graphic abuses-including rape and murder-Christian children in Pakistan routinely suffer, simply for being Christian. Consider two stories alone, both of which occurred at the same time Rimsha’s blasphemy ordeal was making headlines around the world.

On August 14, another Christian girl, 12-year-old Muqadas Kainat (which means ‘Holy Universe’) was ambushed in a field near her home in Sahawil by five Muslim men who ‘gang raped and murdered‘ her. At the time, her father was at a hospital visiting her sick mother. He and other family members began a frantic search, until a tip led them to the field where his daughter’s body lay. The postmortem revealed that she had been ‘gang raped and later strangled to death by five men.’ Police, as usual, did not arrest anyone. As a Salem News report puts it, ‘Complicating matters is the fact that several Christian girls in this remote area have been raped and forced to both marry into the Muslim community and abandon their own religion, human rights groups report…. there is a history in this part of Pakistan according to the Christian community, of local authorities failing to investigate cases of rape or other violence against Christians, often for fear of influential Muslims or militants.’

Similarly, on August 20, an 11-year-old Christian boy, Samuel Yaqoob, went to the markets of Faisalabad to buy food for his family, never to return. According to Wilson Chowdhry, Chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association, ‘After extensive searching his body was found near a drain in the Christian colony, bearing marks of horrific torture, with the murder weapon nearby. His nose, lips and belly had been sliced off, and his family could hardly recognize him because the body was so badly burnt. Some 23 wounds by a sharp weapon have been identified in the autopsy. When sending his body for an autopsy, police raised the possibility of sodomy. Parts of Pakistani culture have a strong homosexual pederast culture, and Christian and other minority boys are especially susceptible to rape and abuse because of the powerlessness of their community and their despised status. In one case fairly recently, a Christian boy was kidnapped, raped, tortured and killed by a police officer, his body similarly being dumped in a drain.’

These were just some of the stories concerning the sexual abuse and murder of Pakistan’s Christian children that occurred last August-even as the world stood in awe at the Rimsha Masih blasphemy case. Here are 10 more examples, chosen at random from the many former documented cases: Read more…

Suicide Terrorist Who Killed 21 Receives ‘Highest Honor’ From Palestine Committe Of Arab Lawyers Union

10/19/2012 2 comments

By Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik, PMW – “Female Palestinian suicide bomber Hanadi Jaradat, who killed 21 Israelis and injured more than 50, has been chosen worthy of ‘the highest honor’ by the Palestine Committee of the Arab Lawyers Union. The Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam reported earlier this week that the Arab Lawyers Union had ‘created the ‘Martyr Hanadi Jaradat plaque of honor,’’ which a delegation presented during a visit to Jaradat’s family.

Hanadi Jaradat was working as a lawyer when she carried out a suicide terrorist attack in a restaurant in Haifa in 2003.

The honorary plaque refers to the day of her suicide bombing as ‘the sweet anniversary of her Martyrdom’… The following is the report on the Arab Lawyers Union honoring suicide terrorist Jaradat from the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam:

Headline: ‘Jenin: Arab Lawyers Union honors family of Martyr (Shahida) Hanadi Jaradat’

“Yesterday, the Arab Lawyers Union honored the family of martyred lawyer Hanadi Jaradat (i.e., suicide terrorist) from the city of Jenin, marking the ninth anniversary of her death as a Martyr, during a visit by a delegation representing the union to the family’s home. The visiting delegation awarded a plaque from the Arab Lawyers Union to honor the family of Martyr Jaradat, who died a Martyr’s death on Oct. 4, 2003, in an operation (i.e., terror attack) during which 19 Israelis were killed and about 50 injured. Member of the Palestine Committee of the Arab Lawyers Union, Ayman Abu Aysha, said that the honoring of the family of Martyr Jaradat came in the wake of a decision taken by the Palestine Committee of the Arab Lawyers Union during a meeting held in Cairo on Sept. 8, 2012. The delegation, which included Khatam Al-Hih, Muhammad Alan, Muhammad Halaweh, and Adi Alawi, conveyed to the family of Martyr Jaradat the good wishes of the head of the Union, Mr. Omar Al-Zayn, and of the head of the Palestine Committee in the Union, Mr. Said Abd Al-Ghani, and also emphasized the pride of the Arab Lawyers Union for what their daughter had done in defense of Palestine and the nation. Deputy Secretary of the Arab Lawyers Union, Said Abd Al-Ghani, said that the Union created the “Martyr Hanadi Jaradat plaque of honor,” the highest honor awarded by the Union in esteem for any [female] lawyer in the Arab homeland.”
