BBC – “Police have arrested three suspected al-Qaeda members in southern Spain.

Explosive material was seized at an address in San Roque where a Turkish man was arrested. Two other men were held near Almuradiel.

They are thought to have been planning an attack in Spain or elsewhere in Europe, according to the Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz.

The arrests are part of one the biggest international operations to date against al-Qaeda, Mr Diaz said.

The material is currently being tested but is thought to be enough to ‘destroy a bus’, he told reporters.

Mr Diaz also said one of the suspects was a senior al-Qaeda operative with extensive experience ‘in the manufacture of poison and car bombs’.

One of the men put up ‘massive resistance’ during the arrests, he added. None of them have been named.

Police found the explosives in a flat in the southern town of La Linea de Concepcion in Andalusia and arrested a Turkish national at the address.

The two other suspects were travelling on a bus from Cadiz on Spain’s Atlantic coast to Irun near the French border when they were seized in a lay-by near Almuradiel by a police special operations group, Mr Diaz said.” Read more.

MEMRI – “In Pakistan, where Islamic clerics routinely promote Antisemitism, leading Pakistani politician and prominent religious leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman recently accused Israel of deploying Israeli soldiers in support of Indian security forces in Kashmir.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman is the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) party. His remark on Kashmir came in an official statement marking the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day – July 13, 2012. Rehman is the head of Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Affairs.

In another Antisemitic video that appeared on YouTube in June 2012, Pakistani cleric Pirzada Muhammad Raza Saqib Mustafai argued that world peace will be established only when all the Jews are wiped out from the earth.

In the video entitled ‘Yahodi Islam Kay Aur Aman Kay Asal Dushman Hain’ (Jews Are the Real Enemy of Islam and Peace), Muhammad Raza Saqib Mustafai states: ‘And all the troubles that exist around the world are because of the Jews. When the Jews are wiped out, then the world would be purified and the sun of peace would begin to rise on the entire world.’ His speech is part of the Fikr-e-Iman (Concern for Faith) series of lectures.

Mustafai is a leading cleric belonging to the Barelvi School of Sunni Islam and is also the founder of Idarat-ul-Mustafa Pakistan, which is described as a spiritual movement for the enforcement of Islamic shari’a in the country. He is a cleric at the Markazi Jamia Masjid Gulzar-e-Madinah, Gujranwala, Pakistan.” Read more.

Pakistani Cleric: ‘When The Last Jew Will Be Killed From This World, Then Peace Would Be Established’ – “And a time is about to come when Allah would bestow such a success on Islam that there would not be a single Jew left on the face of the earth. Hazrat Eisa [Jesus] would come; the warriors of Imam Mahdi [according to Islamic traditions he is the last Imam] would march into the battlefield; the pig would be killed and the symbol of cross would be broken… And when the last Jew will be killed from this world, then peace would be established in the world – so much so that snakes would roam among people but would not bite. Prophetic words. According to Islam, Israel is directly responsible for the world’s ills. Ahmadinejad’s words echo a common Islamist sentiment often repeated in the Muslim world, a world which must not allow Israel to exist and will do everything in its power to see to it that Israel ceases from being a nation.  Believing that they have been given a “divine mandate” from the god of Islam to gather against the “Zionist enemy” for the battle of the ages, they view themselves as the agent of its destruction and believe that in order to have true “peace and security” in the world Israel must be a nation no more. This is precisely what they will be saying when they’ve gathered themselves together against Jerusalem before Armageddon in anticipation of Israel’s “prophetic” demise. But it is not “Allah” that is gathering them. It is YHWH. And it is not Israel that will be destroyed. It will be them …

Speaking to ambassadors from Islamic countries ahead of ‘Qods Day’ (‘Jerusalem Day’), an annual Iranian anti-Zionist event established in 1979 by Ayatollah Khomeini and which falls this year on August 17, Ahmadinejad said that a ‘horrible Zionist current’ had been managing world affairs for ‘about 400 years.’

Repeating traditional anti-Semitic slurs, the Iranian president accused ‘Zionists’ of controlling the world’s media and financial systems.

It was Zionists, he said, who were ‘behind the scene of the world’s main powers, media, monetary and banking centers.’ …

Ahmadinejad added that ‘liberating Palestine’ would solve all the world’s problems, although he did not elaborate on exactly how that might work.

‘Qods Day is not merely a strategic solution for the Palestinian problem, as it is to be viewed as a key for solving the world problems,’ he said.

“WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama has signed a secret order authorizing U.S. support for rebels seeking to depose Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government, U.S. sources familiar with the matter said.

Obama’s order, approved earlier this year and known as an intelligence ‘finding,’ broadly permits the CIA and other U.S. agencies to provide support that could help the rebels oust Assad.

This and other developments signal a shift toward growing, albeit still circumscribed, support for Assad’s armed opponents – a shift that intensified following last month’s failure of the U.N. Security Council to agree on tougher sanctions against the Damascus government.

The White House is for now apparently stopping short of giving the rebels lethal weapons, even as some U.S. allies do just that.

But U.S. and European officials have said that there have been noticeable improvements in the coherence and effectiveness of Syrian rebel groups in the past few weeks. That represents a significant change in assessments of the rebels by Western officials, who previously characterized Assad’s opponents as a disorganized, almost chaotic, rabble.

Precisely when Obama signed the secret intelligence authorization, an action not previously reported, could not be determined.

The full extent of clandestine support that agencies like the CIA might be providing also is unclear.” Read more.

By Rachel Hirshfeld, INN – “A federal magistrate judge has ruled that al Qaeda, the Taliban, Iran and Hizbullah should pay more than $6 billion in damages to the families of victims killed on September 11, 2001, CNN reported.

The recommendation is largely symbolic as it would be nearly impossible to collect any damages.

Federal Magistrate Judge Frank Maas made the ruling Monday, after federal Judge George Daniels decided last year that the terrorist groups and the Iranian regime were liable because of their support for the attacks,.

The initial filing made in 2003 had identified Iraq for its purported role in supporting the attacks, though attorneys withdrew it as a defendant when authorities later considered those claims unfounded.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has denied any Iranian connection in the attacks, just as he denies the regime’s aspirations in acquiring nuclear weapons.

The 9/11 Commission Report mentions contact between al Qaeda and Iran-supported Hizbullah terrorists, which are based largely in southern Lebanon.

The report also pointed to Iranian border inspectors who were told not to stamp the passports of al Qaeda members and who had facilitated the travel of the would-be hijackers, CNN reported.” Read more.

‘In three points of history, God directly confronts the will of unruly humans in which, of course, the Right will overcome the False,’ Saeedi said, according to the Sepah News, the Guards’ official publication. ‘The first point in history was during the era of pharaoh, the second era was Bani Abbas, and the third is our current era in which it seems that God has willed us to enlighten the world with the coming of Imam Mahdi.’

Saeedi, ‘Many of the signs [necessary] for the coming have taken place during the previous years; however, the main sign will take place right before the coming.’

There are five levels of readiness that have to be prepared for the coming, he said: ‘Individual readiness, the readiness for creating the environment, systematic readiness, the readiness in the region and the international readiness. This means Occupy Wall Street must take place, the Americans must lose hope with the Democratic Party and others, and lose faith in the U.N., while at the same time the unraveling in the Middle East, which was not ripe before, must have taken place before the coming.’

This is the first time a high-ranking Iranian official has stated on the record that the Quds Forces are not only involved in the region, but also internationally for a final confrontation with the West.

‘The Revolutionary Guards are one vehicle for preparation for the coming, and in the current Islamic Awakening [the Arab Spring] in the region and on international arena, the Quds Forces play a major role in preparing the readiness of the human force needed for such an event,’ Saeedi said. ‘The chief commander of the Guards and the supreme leader’s representative are tasked for preparing the individual readiness, regional readiness as well as international readiness for the coming.’
