Mali: Christian Leader Beheaded as Islamists Terrorize Country, Create List of All Christians They Intend to Execute by Beheading
By Charles Gardner, ASSIST News Service – “TIMBUKTU, MALI (ANS) — A Christian leader has been beheaded and others are being threatened with similar treatment as Islamic militants run amok in Mali, West Africa.
Christians have fled the town of Timbuktu in the north of the country where harsh Sharia Law has already been imposed amid reports that churches in Gao, 200 miles to the east, have been completely destroyed.
The news comes in the wake of a military coup in the country, one of the effects of which is that sanctions applied from outside has cut off electricity supplies, further delaying reports of the latest upheavals along with desperate pleas for help.
Among those affected is British Bible college graduate Timothee (Tim) Yattara, who recently returned home to his home country in a bid to help spread the gospel in this remote – and now dangerous – part of Africa located on the edge of the Sahara.
Tim has fled with his family to Bamako, the country’s main city some 400 miles away in the south-west, but without the money to rent a house.
“We have escaped in the wake of horrible death threats as the Islamists have a list of all the Christians in Timbuktu whom they intend to execute by beheading. As proof of their intentions, one leader has already been killed in this way and some churches in Gao have been demolished. Most Christians have already fled for safety, but Sharia Law has been imposed all over the north.'” Read more.

Death to Churches and Christian Holidays in the Islamic World
By Raymond Ibrahim – “Last Sunday, many Christians around the world celebrated Easter, taking for granted that they can congregate and worship in peace. Not so in the Islamic world, where top religious officials call for the destruction of churches, Christian holidays celebrated in church are increasingly a time of death and destruction, and a time of terror.
Nigeria, for example, saw some 50 Christians killed ‘when explosives concealed in two cars went off near a church during Easter Sunday services in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna….the casualty figure may go up because some injuries were really critical.’ The church targeted was ‘the Assemblies of God’s Church near the centre of the city with a large Christian population and known as a major cultural and economic centre in Nigeria’s north.’ According to the pastor holding Easter services at the time, ‘We were in the Holy Communion service and I was exhorting my people and all of a sudden, we heard a loud noise that shattered all our windows and doors, destroyed our fans and some of our equipment in the church.’
There is little doubt that the Islamist group Boko Haram [‘Western Education is a Sin’] is behind the terror strike. Boko Haram has long been targeting churches—most glaringly, last December 25, when several churches were bombed in the Muslim majority areas of Nigeria, in what was described as ‘Nigeria’s blackest Christmas ever: then, over 40 Christians were slain, ‘the majority dying on the steps of a Catholic church [in Madalla, near the capital of Abuja] after celebrating Christmas Mass as blood pooled in dust from a massive explosion.’ As usual, the charred and dismembered remains of Christian worshippers were seen scattered in and around the destroyed church.
While the Christmas — and now Easter — church attacks may be Nigeria’s most known, they are certainly not the only ones. The last six weeks alone reveal:
- Sunday, March 11: A Boko Haram suicide car bomber attacked a Catholic church during Mass, killing at least 10 people. The bomb detonated as worshippers attended Mass at St. Finbar’s Catholic Church in Jos, a city where thousands of Christians have died in the last decade as a result of Boko Haram’s jihad.
- Sunday, February 26: A Boko Haram suicide-car bomber killed at least three people, including a toddler, at another church in Jos. Witnesses said the jihadist drove his car into the prominent Church of Christ during morning prayers.
- Sunday, February 19: A Boko Haram bomb attack outside a church in Abuja left at least five people seriously injured and many more hurt, when a parked car filled with explosives detonated outside the Christ Embassy Church.
While the mainstream media, analysts, government officials, and so on, try to portray these attacks as products of Nigerian poverty, the fact is, wherever in the world there are significant numbers of Muslims (Nigeria’s population is half Christian, half Muslim), churches are under siege Read more…
Rumor: America Weighs Limited Military Action Against Syria, Turkey May Join
“Tuesday night, April 10, after Damascus skipped the truce laid down in the UN-Arab envoy Kofi Annan’s plan and escalated its attacks on the Syrian population, a change of tone was detected in the Obama administration.
Debkafile’s Washington sources report that, although President Barack Obama is still flat against broad US military intervention in Syria, administration circles feel America could no longer stay aloof from what is happening there. They are thinking in terms of limited military action to show Bashar Assad and the heads of his regime and army the first American red lines against his brutal crackdown. One plan under discussion is for a US air strike against an Assad regime and/or military target would be enough to dent morale in Damascus and demonstrate to his loyal troops and the Syrian opposition that the Syrian ruler is far from infallible.
This lesson might corner Assad into complying with Annan’s six-point peace plan, especially the ceasefire and withdrawal of armored troops from Syrian cities, which he ducked Tuesday.
The pretext Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem offered Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for missing the deadline, our Moscow sources report, was that when the soldiers are pulled out of the cities, rebel forces will move into the evacuated areas; the anti-Assad uprising would flare up again at full strength across Syria.
Moallem appealed to his host to persuade the Americans to continue to abstain from military action in Syria and defend the need for Syrian units to remain in the main cities, even against a complaint by Annan to the UN Security Council accusing Damascus of flouting an agreed plan.” Read more.
‘Systematic, Ongoing and Egregious’: Why is Christian Persecution in Saudi Arabia Ignored?
By John Meinhold – “As I write, many Christians are observing Good Friday. Easter is the holiest season of the Christian faith. With CNN broadcasting the latest insignificant news about Kim Kardashian in the background, I happened to recently stumble on an obscure government document on the Internet from the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). It turns out what I read in the USCIRF 2012 Annual Report was one of the most important documents I have read in many years.
USCIRF is tasked with reporting to the president, Secretary of State and Congress on international human rights abuses of religious freedom. Their recommendations are either acted upon or the country is given a waiver.
Why was I doing research on the Internet?
The Grand Mufti Sheik Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah of Saudi Arabia had recently been reported to say it is ‘necessary to destroy all the churches in the (Arabian Peninsula) region.’ Pretty shocking news since the Arabian Peninsula encompasses Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen. Furthermore, the grand mufti is the highest religious authority in Saudi Arabia and has world influence on Muslims. Yet, an Internet news search showed only the Washington Times and Houston Chronicle posted an editorial condemning his barbaric words. More disappointing is that only Reuters had a news story about archbishops from Russia, Austria and Germany decrying what the Saudi grand mufti said.
The Catholic Bishops Conference in Austria said the grand mufti’s fatwa was ‘incomprehensible‘ and demanded an official explanation from Riyadh. They said his words endangered Christians around the world, not just in Arab states.
According to the USCIRF report ‘systematic, ongoing and egregious violations of religious freedom continue in Saudi Arabia.’ The report says, ‘More than 10 years since the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, the Saudi government has failed to implement a number of promised reforms related to promoting freedom of thought, conscience, and or belief. The Saudi government … prohibits churches, synagogues, temples, and other non-Muslim places of worship, uses in its schools and posts online state textbooks that continue to espouse intolerance and incite violence, and periodically interferes with private religious practice.'” Read more.

Fist-Fight Ready: Iran Defiant as US Navy Deploys 2nd Aircraft Carrier to the Persian Gulf
“DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The U.S. Navy said Monday it has deployed a second aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf region amid rising tensions with Iran over its disputed nuclear program.
The deployment of the nuclear-powered USS Enterprise along with the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group marks one of the few times the Navy has had two aircraft carriers operating in waters near the Persian Gulf, said Cmdr. Amy Derrick-Frost of the Bahrain-based 5th Fleet.
The two carriers will support the American military operations in Afghanistan and anti-piracy efforts off Somalia’s coast and in the Gulf of Aden, she said.
The warships also patrol the Gulf’s strategic oil routes that Iran has threatened to shut down in retaliation for economic sanctions slapped on the Islamic Republic because of its nuclear program, which the West suspects aims to develop nuclear weapons.” Read more.
Ahmadinejad: Iran Can Withstand Oil Embargo ‘For Years’ – “Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran has enough funds to withstand a total embargo on its oil sales for several years, Iranian media reported on Tuesday. ‘[Western powers] want to impose sanctions on our oil and we must say to them that we have that much saved that even if we didn’t sell oil for two to three years, the country would manage easily,’ Ahmadinejad said during a visit to Hormuzgan province. On Monday, the U.S. said that time is not infinite for nuclear talks between Iran and the West – five days before a planned round of talks was set to begin.” Read more.
Ahmadinejad: Iran Will Punch the West in the Mouth – “… Ahmadinejad also accused Western countries of being solely interested in plunder, Fars reported. ‘Whoever wishes to abuse Iran’s rights, the young … will punch them in the mouth to the extent that they won’t be able to find their way home,’ he said. The United States and its allies hope sanctions on Iran’s energy and financial sectors will force Tehran to abandon what they believe to be a push for nuclear weapons… Iran insists its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes. Turkey: Muslims Attack Church Pastor in Istanbul, Threaten to Kill Him If He Refuses to Accept Islam
“Four people rushed to the Protestant Grace Church in Bahçelievler, Istanbul and physically abused pastor Semir Sertek (58), after forcing him to cite the Islamic testimony of faith.
Sertek had depicted the attack which took place on the night of the Orthodox Easter, April 7th, to Radikal daily as follows:
‘Someone knocked forcefully on the door of the church. They were aggravated. When we opened the door, they forced their way in, mocking us. I was troubled. I asked them to come back at the next day but they kept insulting. ‘This is a Muslim neighborhood, there’s no place for a church’ they said. They threatened to kill me if I refuse to accept Islam. One of them cited the Islamic testimony of faith and asked me to recite it. He kicked me on my chest and then they ran. I fell of the stairs.’ (EKN/EÜ)” Source – Bianet.

Iznik was once known as Nicaea, and it was there the first Ecumenical Council of the Christian Church met at the Hagia Sophia in the year 325. Report: There Are Hundreds, Perhaps Thousands, Of ‘Iranian and Hezbollah Terrorists’ Inside the United States
By Yitzhak Benhorin, Reuters – “WASHINGTON – A recent report by the House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security states that there are hundreds, perhaps even thousands, people he described as ‘Iranian and Hezbollah terrorists’ in the United States.
An alarming part of the officials’ assessments focuses on the apparent surveillance missions that Iranian diplomats and possible Hezbollah operatives have been seen conducting at sensitive targets such as New York City’s subways and bridges, and at nuclear power plants and tunnels elsewhere in the United States in the past 10 years.
At the same time, US officials caution that Hezbollah, a Shiite militia based in Lebanon, has largely avoided attacking US targets since it carried out mass-casualty bombings in the 1980s against the US Embassy and Marine barracks in Beirut. One reason may be that it does not want to endanger its lucrative North American fund-raising operations.
The renewed focus on Hezbollah – which US counter-terrorism officials regard as the most potent and disciplined of Islamic militant groups, even more so than al-Qaeda – comes amid a growing confrontation over Iran’s nuclear program.
An Israeli or US strike on Iran’s nuclear sites could prompt Hezbollah to change strategy, moving from surveillance and fund-raising in North America to launching retaliatory attacks on either country, several US officials said.” Read more.

Michigan: Judge Slaps Dearborn with Restraining Order in Terry Jones Case
If Terry Jones wishes to protest against the hatred and anti-Semitism of Islam in front of one of the largest mosques in America, the First Amendment gives him every right to do so. The Islamists of Dearborn, of course, want nothing more than to shut down the First Amendment when it comes to those who are critical of Mohammed and the teachings of Islam, but have absolutely no qualms taking advantage of it when it suits them. US Constitution: 1, Sharia Law: 0. At least in this case. For now. Hopefully, however, Jones and others will not resort to burning the Qur’an again. Although protected by the First Amendment, it is unnecessary, unproductive and serves to do nothing other than draw attention away from the real issue: the hatred, racism, supremacy, sexual immorality and bigotry taught by the ‘prophet’ of Islam …
By J. Patrick Pepper – “DETROIT — A federal judge sided with Terry Jones Thursday and granted a temporary restraining order against the city of Dearborn.
Calling it ‘clearly unconstitutional,’ U.S. District Judge Denise Page Hood blasted the city’s demand that Jones and his supporters sign a hold-harmless agreement in order to obtain a permit to speak against Islam in front of Dearborn’s Islamic Center of America.
City attorneys had argued previously that the requirement is standard for any special event. Generally, a hold-harmless agreement would absolve the city of liability for anything that happens during a special event with the terms and conditions subject to the legal department’s discretion on a case-by-case basis.
Hood took particular exception to the last part.
‘It is well recognized that an ordinance which grants an administrative body or government official unfettered discretion to regulate the licensing of activities protected by the First Amendment is unconstitutional,’ she wrote in her order.
Jones, whose presence nearly led to a riot last time he demonstrated in Dearborn, now will be able to hold his event without the agreement. Jones’ attorneys with the Thomas More Law Center said the city dropped the requirement for the hold-harmless agreement just minutes before Hood filed her opinion.” Read more.
Iran: Historical Christian Cemetery, Church Demolished in Kerman
“Sometime ago we heard that Islamic republic agents destroyed a historical church building overnight in Kerman and now it is reported that a historical Christian cemetery, over 200 years old, has been completely demolished in Kerman province.
According to Iranian Christian news agency, Mohabat News, a historical graveyard in the Ghal’e-dokhtar area in Kerman province ‘has completely demolished’.
Based on this report, local people estimate that this cemetery has existed for more than two hundred years.
The news service of a cultural heritage organization quoted Mohammad Mehdi Afzali, head of public relations in the Cultural Heritage organization of Kerman as saying, ‘Destruction of this cemetery was conducted as part of a project by the municipality and Cultural Heritage organization, to release lands around Ghal’e-Dokhtar and Ghal’e Ardeshir’.
‘After the reports and photos of this destruction were published by news services, a team of experts of the Cultural Heritage office of Kerman was sent out to the cemetery to prepare an expert report’ he added.
Of course, Mr. Afzali denied this report in an interview with the pro-regime news service, IRNA on Wednesday…
Prior to this report, a historical church building in Kerman, which was registered as a national monument, was brought down using bulldozers. The church building was registered as a national monument in 2009 and so had to be protected and restored. However, it was completely destroyed overnight using heavy machinery for unknown reasons.” Read more.
Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood Puts Up Second Presidential Candidate, Another Islamist Party Nominates Cleric Banned From France
Just to be on the safe side …
The candidature of the Islamist group’s number two, Khairat al-Shater, looked to be in doubt. Shater was freed from prison in March 2011 after having been jailed by a military court for seven years on charges of terrorism and money laundering.
The Muslim Brotherhood, whose Freedom and Justice Party won the most seats in parliamentary elections earlier this year, said it was putting forward party chairman Mohammed Morsi as an ‘alternative candidate.'” Read more.
Egypt’s Islamist group names cleric banned from France for president – AP – “An ultraconservative Islamist party in Egypt has put forward a leading Muslim cleric recently banned from entering France as its presidential candidate. The Gamaa Islamiya, or Islamic Group, said Saturday that it has chosen Safwat Hegazy, a prominent imam who took part in last year’s protests that toppled President Hosni Mubarak. France barred Hegazy last month from entering the country along with a number of other high-profile Muslim clerics on the grounds that they ‘call for hatred and violence.'” Read more.

Nigeria: At Least 50 Killed in Kaduna After Suspected Islamists Detonate Car Bomb Near Church During Easter Service
Update: New reports now indicate at least 50 have been killed …
“LAGOS, Nigeria – A car bomb exploded along a busy roadway Sunday morning in a central Nigeria city, killing at least 38 people in the latest attack on a region beset by religious, ethnic and political violence, an official said.
The blast struck Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna state, leaving charred motorcycles and debris strewn across a major road in the city where many gather to eat at informal restaurants and buy black market gasoline. Nearby hotels had their windows blown out of by the force of the powerful explosion, which engulfed a group of motorcycle taximen.
At least 38 people were killed in the blast, said Abubakar Zakari Adamu, a spokesman for the Kaduna state Emergency Management Agency. Others suffered serious injuries and were receiving treatment at local hospitals, Adamu said.
The explosion badly damaged the nearby All Nations Christian Assembly Church as churchgoers worshipped at an Easter service, the possible target of the bomber. Witnesses said it appeared the explosive-laden car attempted to go into the compound of that church before it detonated.
‘We were in the holy communion service and I was exhorting my people and all of a sudden, we heard a loud noise that shattered all our windows and doors, destroyed our fans and some of our equipment in the church,’ Pastor Joshua Raji said.
Another witness, Augustine Vincent, said he was riding a motorcycle just behind the car when it exploded.
‘God saw our heart and saved us,’ he said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, though suspicion immediately fell on a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram.” Read more.
The Christian Era In The Middle East Is Over, ‘Will Be Completely Green, The Colour Of Islam’
Revelation 6:8, “And I looked, and behold a chlōros [green] horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the thērion [brutal, savage men] of the earth.”
In Revelation 6:8 John describes the “fourth horseman of the Apocalypse” as being “chlōros”, literally translated as “green”. Green is the official color of Islam and is believed to have been Mohammed’s favorite. The “fourth horseman” is described as having power over the fourth part of the earth. I don’t believe that it is a mere coincidence that Islam today has dominion over a fourth part of the earth. John describes the “fourth horseman” as having the power to “kill with sword.” Islam is spread through Jihad, the “Sword of Islam.” The “fourth horseman” also kills with hunger/famine. Spiritual destitution aside, Islamists would even prefer to see children starve to death than have them receive life-saving aid from the “Christian West.” The “fourth horseman” kills with “death”, and the love of death in suicide and martyrdom operations against men, women and children for the cause of “Allah” permeates Islamic culture, so much that they openly declare to “love death more than you love life.” Lastly, the “fourth horseman” is described as killing with “the beasts of the earth.” The Greek word “thērion” here is, I believe, being used metaphorically to refer to “savage”, “brutal” and “bestial” men, a perfect description of what we see today in the radical world of Islam’s death seekers …
By Giulio Meotti, INN – “Ramallah was 90% Christian before the 1948 War of Independence and Bethlehem was 80% Christian. Today Ramallah is a large Islamic city and Bethlehem’s Christians are near extinction. Arab Christianity joined evil forces to buy temporary security.
Israel has become the only safe haven for Christians in the Middle East, Ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, wrote in a recent op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal.
‘As 800,000 Jews were once expelled from Arab countries, so are Christians being forced from lands they’ve inhabited for centuries’, Ambassador Oren stated, comparing the expulsion of Jews after the establishment of the state of Israel with the Arab countries’ current treatment of their Christian minorities.
The numbers are telling. Today there is only one Middle Eastern country where the number of Christians has grown: Israel. As documented in the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, the Christian community that numbered 34,000 people in 1949 is now 163,000-strong, and will reach 187,000 in 2020.
