Iran: The West Fears Our Brand of Islam and the ‘Islamic Awakening of the Regional Nations’

11/30/2011 Leave a comment

The ‘Islamic awakening of the regional nations’ sounds awfully familiar. I wonder what he’s referring to? …

By David Lev – “The reason the U.S. and other Western countries seek to punish Iran is not directly connected to its nuclear program, top Iranian clerics say; it’s because they fear the rise of Islam, and are doing their utmost to fight it. Nevertheless, they will fail; Islam will emerge victorious.

Speaking at a press conference Wednesday, Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani said that the charges by the U.S. that Iran was involved in terrorism, and allegations about its human rights record, were just a smokescreen for its fear of Islam. ‘The reason for their fear will be found in another place, which is the Islamic awakening of the regional people. It should be known that the West is upset because of the Islamic awakening of the regional nations,’ Larijani said.

Larijani pointed to the catalog of uprisings in the Islamic world in recent months, including the revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen, all of which overthrew dictators associated with the West. In each of those countries – as well as in Morocco – Islamists have, or are expected, to take key roles in leadership. Meanwhile, in countries that have not yet experienced revolutions, Larijani said – including Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia – leaders were taking a heavy hand against groups seeking a greater role in running their countries. Leading the groups in those countries as well, said Larijani, were Islamists.” Read more.

Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood Takes Lead in Vote Count While An Even MORE Radical Islamist Party Takes Second Place

11/30/2011 Leave a comment

The beginning of Egypt’s fall is well under way. I expected the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood to take the lead in Egypt, but an even more radical Islamic group in second?  That I did not consider.  This sort of voter sentiment does not bode well for Israel, nor for Egypt’s Christian minority

By Anshel Pfeffer and Avi Issacharoff – “The Muslim Brotherhood’s party appeared to be leading Egypt’s elections on Wednesday after 90 percent of the votes in a number of cities and provinces were counted, according to Al Jazeera.

Egypt’s Al Nour party, considered a radical Islamic party, appeared to be in second place behind the Muslim Brotherhood, and the centrist party is only in third place, according to Al Jazeera.

The results show that the Muslim Brotherhood have become the strongest political force in the country since the fall of Hosni Mubarak, although it is still too early to announce whether they will enjoy the solid victory that has been expected, or whether they will see even greater success at the polls, as there are still votes to be counted, and this is only the first stage of Egypt’s three-part elections.

The figures released by the judges responsible for the ballot boxes reveal that the Muslim Brotherhood have a clear majority among voters in Egypt’s capital Cairo, in Luxor, Port Said, and in the area of the Suez Canal.

The elections for 498 seats in the lower house of the Egyptian parliament, will be voted on in three stages, each lasting two days, with the final stage taking place in January.

The first stage of elections saw high voter turnout and finished with relative calm on Tuesday, when many people came out to vote for the first time in their lives.

Nadin Halled, a volunteer for one of the candidates near a voting booth in Cairo’s Zamalek Quarter told Haaretz: ‘50% of the early voters had come the day before. I guess those who have showed up think the army will determine the elections results anyway or just prefer to enjoy their day off.'” Source – Haaretz.

Iran Developing Advanced Low-Flying Cruise Missile That Could Potentially Carry a Non-Conventional Warhead

11/30/2011 Leave a comment

By YAAKOV KATZ – “Iran is developing an advanced low-flying cruise missile that could potentially carry a non-conventional warhead, Arieh Herzog, director of the Defense Ministry’s Homa Missile Defense Agency, said on Wednesday.

Herzog, who will step down from his post in the beginning of the year, spoke at the annual International Aerospace Conference in Jerusalem.

Earlier this month, close to 20 Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps officers, including the architect of Iran’s long-range ballistic missile program, were killed in a mysterious explosion at a missile base near the city of Bid Kaneh. The officers were reportedly working on the development of a new missile when the explosion took place.

‘The Iranians are developing a capability that within several years, they will have cruise missiles that can fly at low altitudes and carry non-conventional warheads,’ Herzog said.

Herzog said that Israel’s missile defense capabilities were drawn from the Iranian’s development of missiles.

Israel currently has three Iron Dome counter rocket defense batteries deployed throughout the country in additional to two Arrow batteries to defend against long-range ballistic missiles.” Read more.

Eye Witnesses Claim ‘Unusual’ Movement of Israeli Missiles

11/30/2011 Leave a comment

By Aaron Klein – “JERUSALEM — Multiple eyewitnesses reported seeing Israeli military trucks in recent days transport and station large missiles at the periphery of Jerusalem and in locations inside the West Bank.

The descriptions of the projectiles are consistent with the Jewish state’s mid-to-long range Jericho ballistic missiles.

The missile movement, if confirmed, would be considered unusual.

One of the eyewitnesses was a member of the Palestinian Authority security services. He claimed to me that a large missile was stationed five days ago near Neve Yaacov, a Jewish neighborhood in northeast Jerusalem. That neighborhood is adjacent to several Palestinian-inhabited towns.

Four other eyewitnesses, Israeli and Palestinian, reported seeing similar sights during the past week – large missiles being transported by the Israeli military at the periphery of Jerusalem and in the West Bank.

Reached for comment, the spokesperson’s unit of the Israel Defense Forces could not confirm the information, referring me instead to Israel’s national police.

Mickey Rosenfeld, the national police spokesperson here, told me today he has no information on any such movements.

Apparently, I’m not the only reporter to receive such reports.

Rosenfeld said another foreign correspondent contacted him earlier today for comment on the same matter.

The PA security member, speaking on condition of anonymity, speculated the missiles were related to a possible Read more…

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood ‘Trying to Rig Poll with Gifts’ to Secure Election Victory

11/30/2011 Leave a comment

If their prophet Mohammed ‘prophesied‘ recent events surrounding the ‘Arab Spring’ as the rise of Islam, then it must be Allah’s will that those who wish to implement Allah’s Sharia Law win Egypt’s resulting first election.  Unless, of course, Allah decided to change his mind yet again. If it’s Allah’s will that it is the time for Islam to rise, then why would the Muslim Brotherhood feel the need to cheat in order to secure a victory at the polls?  And if Allah has indeed changed his mind, then why are they going against the will of Allah? …

“The Muslim Brotherhood was today accused of attempting to rig Egypt’s election by handing out gifts and food at polling stations in a desperate attempt to win power.

Witnesses told the Evening Standard that the Islamist party, which is expected to secure a large share of the votes, had a strong presence both inside and outside polling stations.

Onlookers claimed some Brotherhood groups were allowed to set up tables with laptop computers in order to show ‘people how to vote’.

Voting laws passed after the fall of Hosni Mubarak’s regime in February outlaw bribes or campaigning inside or near polling stations.

Bel Trew, a film-maker working in Tahrir Square, said: ‘We have seen people offering gifts to people outside polling stations. This is against the law and would certainly not be allowed in other democratic countries.’

Today voting continued with turnout again reported to be high. Student Mariam, who would not give her full name for fear of reprisals said: ‘I wanted to boycott the elections, as the parliament will have no power and because of what happened in Tahrir, but if we don’t vote the Muslim Brotherhood will win the majority.’

But there is growing support for the Muslim Brotherhood with many claiming the party is the best option to bring order to Egypt.

‘The Freedom and Justice Party (Muslim Brotherhood) are the most organised party right now,’ said Hossam, 39, an insurance broker who went to a Catholic school in Cairo.

They have a religious view but they are the only ones who have a good plan for the country.Read more.

Really? So a good plan for Egypt is to break the peace treaty with Israel, kill all Jews, and judge Christians according to the intolerant and barbaric injustices of Sharia jurisprudence?

Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood Holds Venomous Anti-Israel Rally, Vows to ‘One Day Kill All Jews’ – “A Muslim Brotherhood rally in Cairo’s most prominent mosque Friday turned into a venomous anti-Israel protest, with attendants vowing to ‘one day kill all Jews.’ Some 5,000 people joined the rally, called to promote the ‘battle against Jerusalem’s Judaization.’ The event coincided with the anniversary of the United Nations’ partition plan in 1947, which called for the establishment of a Jewish state.” Read more.

Muslim Brotherhood Set to Take Egypt’s Parliament and Impose Sharia Law – “As Egypt prepares its upcoming Nov. 28 elections to build a new government, the rising power of the Muslim Brotherhood may pose great dangers to the Christians living there. The Middle East Media Research Institute revealed in a report that the Brotherhood first said that they will not force radical Islam on the country, but the group is now focused on winning the elections and it plans to impose Sharia law. These fears come after 25 Coptic Christians were killed last month during clashes with police and with state television inciting Muslims to rise against Christians… Christians will also be forced to follow the law, which includes ‘being judged according to the Muslim principles of justice and equality.'” Read more.

Indonesia: Hundreds of Hard-Line Muslims Rally to Denounce the ‘Arrogance’ of Local Church Congregation for Continuing to Exist

11/29/2011 Leave a comment

How dare they, members of Yahweh’s Ekklesia resisting the demands of Allah’s Ummah! …

By Vento Saudale – “Hundreds of hard-line Muslims rallied outside the Bogor City Hall on Sunday to decry the ‘arrogance’ of a beleaguered church in the city that remains shuttered by authorities despite a Supreme Court order to open it.

The protesters, from Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia and the Indonesian Muslim Communication Forum (Forkami), said they wanted to show that all Muslims were united in opposition to the presence of the GKI Yasmin Church in the city.

‘We’re here to refute the arrogance of the church, which continues to insist on setting up in the Taman Yasmin [housing complex],’ said Achmad Imam, the Forkami head in Bogor.

The Bogor administration issued a building permit for the church in 2006, but it revoked it two years later, alleging the church had falsified the signatures required to obtain it.

The Supreme Court ruled in December 2010 that the closure was unlawful and ordered its reopening, but the city administration continues to ignore the ruling. Mayor Diani Budiarto has used several excuses to keep the church closed, most recently saying there should not be a Christian church on a street with an Islamic name.

Church members have been forced to hold services on the sidewalk.” Read more.

Former MI Chief: Iran Has Enough Material for 4 or 5 Nuclear Bombs

11/29/2011 3 comments

The one flaw in Yadlin’s logic below is this: The Iranians will not publicly reveal anything.  They have, and will continue, to speak through the facade of “peace” and “peaceful purposes” while planning for something else entirely.  If the West continues to wait until Iran publicly admits that they have produced or will soon produce a nuclear weapon before it attacks the suicidal Shia theocracy, then this war will definitely not simply be a campaign to prevent the production of nuclear weapons.  It will include them …

“Former Military Intelligence chief Maj.-Gen. (res.) Amos Yadlin said Tuesday that Iran had enough material to develop ‘four or five’ nuclear bombs, adding that it was imperative for Israel to maintain good relations with members of the international community capable of dealing with that threat.

‘Once Iran decides finally to move forward in developing a nuclear weapon, a whole new range of opportunities will open up for a fight which the international community will fight,’ Yadlin said in an address at the Institute for National Security Studies, where he is beginning a term as director.

‘Israel is not alone in the game,’ Yadlin said. ‘When the Iranians publicly reveal that they are pushing toward a nuclear weapon, Israel will no longer be the central player in the game.’

‘This situation requires us to maintain good channels of dialogue and understanding with those who have better operational abilities than us,’ Yadlin added.

The former MI chief said there was a good chance that sources within Western intelligence bodies would know in advance should the Iranian spiritual leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, order the country to advance toward a nuclear weapon.

A general in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Yadollah Javani, over the weekend threatened retaliation against Israel if any of its nuclear or security sites are attacked.

‘If Israeli missiles hit one of our nuclear facilities or other vital centers, then they should know that any part of Israeli territory would be target of our missiles, including their nuclear sites,’ told ISNA news agency.’They [Israel] know that we have the capability to do so.'” Read more.

Tehran: Protesters Storm 2 British Embassy Compounds, Wave Flags Symbolizing Martyrdom Chanting ‘Death to America, England, Israel’

11/29/2011 Leave a comment

This is not simply some spur-of-the-moment “protest”. Waving flags symbolizing martyrdom and calling for the death of America, England and Israel is one clear indication in my mind of precisely who gave the OK for this to happen.  The coming war with Iran may not begin with a sudden “shock-and-awe” campaign. In light of all recent developments, it may have already begun …

“TEHRAN – Iranian protesters stormed two British Embassy compounds in Tehran on Tuesday, smashing windows, hurling petrol bombs and burning the British flag during a rally to protest against sanctions imposed by Britain, live Iranian television showed.

The attacks followed the rapid approval by Iran’s Guardian Council of a parliamentary bill compelling the government to expel the British ambassador in retaliation for the sanctions, and warnings from a lawmaker that angry Iranians could storm the British embassy as they did to the US mission in 1979.

Several dozen protesters broke away from a crowd of a few hundred protesters outside the main embassy compound in downtown Tehran, scaled the embassy gates and went inside. Iranian security forces appeared to do little to stop them.

The semi-official Mehr news agency said protesters pulled down the British flag, burned it, and put up the Iranian flag.

Inside, the demonstrators threw stones and petrol bombs. One waved a framed picture of Queen Elizabeth, state TV showed.

The British Foreign Office said it was outraged by the incursion into embassy.

It was not clear if British diplomats had been caught up in the action, or had been harmed. Embassy staff fled protesters ‘by the back door,’ the Mehr news agency reported.

Demonstrators waved flags symbolizing martyrdom and held up portraits of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.” Read more.

Iranian protesters chant Ahmadinejad’s popular rallying cry – “The semi-official Fars news agency said security forces were trying to eject the protesters, who were a minority from a larger group staging an anti-UK demonstration outside the compound. The agency referred to the protesters as students who were chanting ‘Death to America’, ‘Death to England’ and ‘Death to Israel’ among other slogans. Live TV pictures showed several of the people on top of the entry gate to the embassy, waving Islamic flags… Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari, reporting from Tehran, said that the police and various ministries had prior knowledge of the protest, which was organised by the student arm of the Basij armed group. ‘Any such action of this could scale can never be independent in the Islamic Republic. These gatherings are always approved by higher officials,’ said Jabbari.” Read more.

Iranian news agency claimed protesters took British hostages – “Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency said protesters took six British diplomatic staff hostage from an embassy compound in the north of the city but it withdrew the story from its website minutes later without giving any explanation. Is Britain plotting with Israel to attack Iran? – “Last February Britain’s then defence minister Liam Fox attended a dinner in Tel Aviv with a group described as senior Israelis. Alongside him sat Adam Werritty, a lobbyist whose ‘improper relations’ with the minister would lead eight months later to Fox’s hurried resignation. According to several reports in the British media, the Israelis in attendance at the dinner were representatives of the Mossad, Israel’s spy agency, while Fox and Werritty were accompanied by Matthew Gould, Britain’s ambassador to Israel. A former British diplomat has now claimed that the topic of discussion that evening was a secret plot to attack Iran.” Read more.

Explosions Rocking Tehran Spark Warning of a ‘Big Event’, Iranian General: ‘Expect Shocking Explosions in Tel Aviv and Other Cities’

11/28/2011 Leave a comment

By Reza Kahlili – “On Nov. 12, two massive blasts at a nearby town rocked Tehran, the Iranian capital, and may have been an attempt to assassinate the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had been scheduled to be there at the time of the explosions. Now Israel and the West must be prepared for possible Iranian retaliation.

After the explosions, Iranians found themselves wondering whether Israel had attacked. The recent report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran’s nuclear weapons program and the warnings of military action by Israeli officials have alarmed Iranians about the threat of war.

The simultaneous explosions, which hit the Iranian Revolutionary Guards base 28 miles west of Tehran, not only shook the surrounding area but were heard and felt throughout Tehran, even breaking car and building windows.

Revolutionary Guards officials soon announced that the explosions occurred at one of their ammunition depots while ammunition was being moved and claimed at first that 15 people were killed.

Iran’s state-owned media rapidly changed the story multiple times on the number of fatalities and the cause of the incidents, but they all ruled out a plot and stated that the explosions had nothing to do with Iran’s nuclear program. Then they announced that Brig. Gen. Hassan Tehrani Moghadam, the “architect of Iran’s missile program,” was one of those killed.

The shock was palpable among the Iranian leaders, and soon sources within Iran revealed that the number of casualties was well over 100. It was also reported that right after the explosions, tanks and armored vehicles mobilized in and around Tehran and in other provinces.

Ayatollah Khamenei attended the funeral of those killed and best described the severity of the incident: ‘The bloody incident, which resulted in the martyrdom of some of our best, including the superior commander and scientist Hassan Moghadam, is truly bitter and sad.’

Although Iranian officials claimed the explosions were accidental, their statements later indicated that the incidents were more of a complex and calculated covert operation right out of a James Bond movie.

One explosion ‘set back the manufacture of the [Guards’] researched product only for two weeks, which could be a punch in the mouth of the global arrogance [forces of imperialism] and the occupying [Zionists],’ said Maj. Gen. Hassan Firouzabadi, the chairman of Iran’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In referring to Israel, Revolutionary Guards Gen. Masoud Jazayeri said the Zionist regime should expect shocking explosions in Tel Aviv and other cities. Iran obviously is blaming the explosions on Israel. What is interesting is that a little more than a week later, a similar explosion occurred at a weapons depot of the terrorist group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

But most revealing was the statement reflected on the Revolutionary Guards’ media outlet, Javan Online, by Mehdi Taeb, the head of the Ammar Garrison and one of the most fanatical figures in the Islamic regime. He stated that ‘a big event will take place after the martyrdom of Hassan Moghadam.’ He added that the deceased general was working on a project that, despite his absence, will soon come together and result in this ‘big event.’ Read more…

‘Iran Prepping al-Qaida for Large-Scale Attacks’

11/28/2011 Leave a comment

By Aaron Klein – “JERUSALEM – In response to any future Israeli military strike on its nuclear sites, Iran has been training al-Qaida elements in the Egyptian Sinai desert on how to coordinate retaliatory attacks, a senior Egyptian security official told WND.

The al-Qaida attacks are meant to target both Israeli and Egyptian installations, the security official said, as part of an Iranian plot to widen any Israeli-Iranian conflict to involve other countries.

The Egyptian official said there is also information Iran has been working with Islamic Salafist groups in Jordan that are allied with al-Qaida.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards helped to train al-Qaida elements in the Sinai and Gaza Strip to carry out large-scale attacks, including missile attacks, cross-border incursions, suicide bombings and explosions targeting infrastructure, such as oil and gas pipelines, the official said.

Any Iranian cooperation with al-Qaida would underscore the dangers of Tehran obtaining nuclear weapons. The country has a history of using terrorist proxies, most notably Hezbollah in Lebanon, to carry out its bidding.

Some analysts have raised fears of terrorists obtaining a nuclear device from a nation state and using the weapon for maximum damage. The deployment [of] a nuclear electromagnetic pulse, or EMP attack, for example, could collapse the U.S. national electric grid and other critical infrastructures affecting tens of millions of civilians.” Read more.

Iranian EMP Nuke Attack Over the US: ‘Two-Thirds of the American Population Would Perish From Starvation, Disease, and Societal Collapse’ Within One Year – “Pentagon estimates show that Iran could have missiles capable of reaching the East Coast of the United States by the year 2015. If the Iranians acquire a nuclear bomb, they might be able to cripple their ‘Great Satan’ even sooner through an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, attack off America’s coastline. ‘Within a year of an EMP event, at least two-thirds of the American population would perish from starvation, disease, and societal collapse. It’s a high-tech means of killing people the old fashioned way,’ Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, president of EMPact America, explained.” Read more.

Arab Spring Spares Region’s Royals

11/28/2011 2 comments

Is this further evidence that the stage is being set for the fulfillment of Bible prophecy? …

Daniel 11:40-43, “At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. He will also invade the Beautiful Land. Many countries will fall, but Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from his hand. He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not escape. He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Nubians in submission.”

By DAVID ROSENBERG – “The contrasts couldn’t be any more stark.

In a space of five days, voters in the Gulf emirate of Oman quietly went to the polls to elect members to the country’s Shoura Council, a quasi-legislature that the country’s absolute ruler has promised will be granted more power, while in Libya another autocrat, Muammar Gaddafi was dragged out of a drainpipe where he had sought refugee to be pummeled and killed by rebels, the denouement to a bloody six-month civil war.

Gaddafi is the third Arab leader to lose his job in the 11 months since the Arab Spring erupted while a fourth, Yemen’s Ali Abdullah Saleh, announced Wednesday that he was ready to step down. The fate of another, Syria’s Bashar Assad, hangs in the balance. But other leaders faced unrest in the early days of the Arab Spring only to turn back the popular tide.

Besides Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said Said, King Muhammed VI of Morocco has also succeeded in containing unrest as has King Abdullah of Jordan. At the outset of the Arab Spring, all looked ripe for revolution and experienced varying levels of unrest, but 11 months later all four leaders are still standing.

It pays to be a dynast rather than a dictator, or the son of a dictator. None of the region’s many royals has been toppled and only one – Bahrain’s Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Khalifa – has faced a serious challenge to his rule. All four autocrats to fall, as well as a fifth most likely to succumb, were dictators who made pretensions to democratic rule with rigged elections. Among non-royals, only Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has succeeded in restoring quiet.

The staying power of kings could be due to early-childhood training in statecraft or a traditional deference on the part of people to royalty, but Ibrahim Saif, a resident scholar at the Carnegie International Endowment for Peace suggests it is because royals rely more on their paternal image than on fear to maintain their rule.

‘They are more responsive to the demands of the street. Historically they have been more tolerant,’ Saif told The Media Line in a telephone interview from Beirut. ‘If you compare the monarchy in Jordan, for instance, to the regimes in Syria or Egypt, they try to respond to the demands of the people, like quality of education, social conditions.’

The kingdom of Jordan scores 0.698 on the United Nations Human Development Index (the highest score is a 1.0), compared with 0.632 for the neighboring dictatorship of Syria. Oman scores a higher 0.705. Morocco is a much lower 0.582, but over the last decades its score has jumped by 14.8 percent. Politically, the monarchies are also relatively liberal.

Morocco is one of the few Arab countries to enjoy a ‘partly free’ designation by Freedom House. In 2010, the human rights organization categorized Jordan and Oman as ‘not free,’ but they scored higher on political rights and civil liberties than Tunisia, Syria or Libya.” Read more.

Report: Explosion Rocks Iran City of Isfahan, Home to Key Nuclear Facility

By Yossi Melman and Reuters – “An explosion rocked the western Iranian city of Isfahan on Monday, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, adding that the blast was heard in several parts of the city.

According to reports, frightened residents called the fire department after the blast, forcing the city authorities to admit there had been an explosion.

Speaking with Fars news agency, Isfahan’s deputy mayor confirmed the reports and said the authorities are investigating the matter. However, after the incident was reported in Israel, the report was taken off the Fars website.

It seems that city authorities and the Iranian government were embarrassed by the reports of a blasts, releasing contradictory versions of the alleged events. One example is a statement given by the same deputy mayor to the Mehr news agency, saying he had no reports of an explosion.

Another confirmation came from the head of the city’s judiciary, who said an explosion-like sound was heard. Meanwhile, the Mehr news agency reported there has been a blast at a petrol station near the city. Another report pointed to a training accident.

The reported incident occurred about two weeks after Gen. Hasan Tehrani Moghaddam was killed together with 20 other Guard members Nov. 12 at a military site outside Bidganeh village, 40 kilometers southwest of Tehran.” Read more.
