RIA Novosti – “Islamic State (IS) fighters have beheaded a man for allegedly working for Syrian President Bashar Assad and announced that all who insult Allah are to be executed, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Friday.

‘Der-Ezzor province: ISIS executed a man from al-Mayadin city in al-Jerdaq yard, on the charge of working for Bashar al-Assad as a cop, and judged him with ‘al-Radda’,’ the London-based observatory said on its official Facebook page.

‘ISIS fighters have announced today that everyone [who] insults Allah will be executed and beheaded,’ SOHR said.

The group is notoriously known for its extreme violence. Earlier, the IS released videos showing the executions of US and UK citizens. In addition, Algerian militants linked to the IS filmed the execution of a French national over Paris’ support for the US-led anti-IS airstrikes. On Sunday, Western media reported that a Russian citizen was shot to death by the jihadi group this spring.

The Islamic State (IS), also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS), or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), has been fighting the Syrian government since 2012. In June 2014, the group extended its attacks to northern and western Iraq, declaring a caliphate on the territories that had fallen under its control.

If they were to acknowledge that, they would be admitting that the Islamic State has something to do with Islam, and that is off-limits for Obama Administration wonks.

‘Airstrikes against Islamic State do not seen to have affected flow of fighters to Syria,’ by Greg Miller, Washington Post, October 30, 2014:

More than 1,000 foreign fighters are streaming into Syria each month, a rate that has so far been unchanged by airstrikes against the Islamic State and efforts by other countries to stem the flow of departures, according to U.S. intelligence and counterterrorism officials.

The magnitude of the ongoing migration suggests that the U.S.-led air campaign has neither deterred significant numbers of militants from traveling to the region nor triggered such outrage that even more are flocking to the fight because of American intervention.

“The flow of fighters making their way to Syria remains constant, so the overall number continues to rise,” a U.S. intelligence official said. U.S. officials cautioned, however, that there is a lag in the intelligence being examined by the CIA and other spy agencies, meaning it could be weeks before a change becomes apparent.

The trend line established over the past year would mean that the total number of foreign fighters in Syria exceeds 16,000, and the pace eclipses that of any comparable conflict in recent decades, including the 1980s war in Afghanistan.

U.S. officials have attributed the flows to a range of factors, including the sophisticated recruiting campaigns orchestrated by groups in Syria such as the Islamic State and the relative ease with which militants from the Middle East, North Africa and Europe can make their way to that country….

The vast majority of those militants have come from other countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Tunisia has sent more fighters to Syria than any other nation.

More than 2,000 fighters have come from countries in Europe, carrying passports that would enable them to travel relatively freely in Western countries….

Although U.S. officials have not made public estimates of the rate at which foreign fighters are flowing into Syria, they have provided totals that trace a clear trajectory. The 15,000 figure cited by the White House last month was up sharply from an estimate of 12,000 in July and 7,000 in March.

Sun News – “The RCMP is warning both police and military to keep an eye out for terrorists following a threat from ISIS, QMI Agency has learned.

The notice went out Monday. Police and military were told to exercise vigilance and caution upon starting their shifts this week.

Several police forces, including those in Montreal and Quebec City, confirmed the RCMP advisory.

Montreal police sources tell QMI that its force held top-level meetings with the RCMP this week.

The RCMP warning is specifically aimed at police on solo patrols, who have been deemed to be at greatest risk.

Quebec’s Public Security minister, Lise Theriault, said the RCMP advisory follows an earlier threat from ISIS.

In September, ISIS spokesman Muhammad Al-Adnani called on followers to kill Canadians and others by various means including to ‘slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car.’

Theriault told QMI that citizens, as well as police, need to keep their eyes open for threats.

‘I think that vigilance will always be appropriate,’ she said. The minister urged citizens to call police if they believe someone has become radicalized or if they see violent Internet postings.

Two Canadian soldiers were killed by homegrown extremists last week.

Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot in the back and killed Oct. 22 while guarding the National War Memorial across from Parliament Hill.

Two days earlier, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was run over by a car and killed, while another soldier was injured, near a recruiting office in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.” Source – Sun News.

In a video published by ShamToday on October 26, the media wing associated with the predominantly Chechen Islamic State (IS) faction Katibat Al-Aqsa, a Chechen militant named Musa Abu-Yusuf Shishani calls on the Chechen diaspora to join IS.

The video, in Chechen, was shared on several pro-Islamic-State Russian-language social media accounts on October 26 and offers insights into the attitudes of Chechen IS militants who are on the frontline in Kobani. (It was removed by YouTube on October 27)

The speaker in the video, Musa Abu-Yusuf, is filmed in front of a burned-out car and claims he is in Kobani.

Musa Abu-Yusuf says that IS militants are defending not only against attacks from the Kurds, but also from the entire world, who have ‘suddenly started to defend the Kurds.’

He calls on all Chechens in Europe ‘not to look for reasons not to come [to Syria], you are obliged to come, and kill everyone.’

‘There are no civilians,’ Musa Abu-Yusuf adds. ‘Kill them all wherever they are, that is, in Europe itself. Kill just one Frenchman, one American, then they will rise up. Kill them all, wherever they are. In Europe.’

There is a large Chechen diaspora in Europe, many of them refugees from the First and Second Chechen Wars. According to the Jamestown Foundation, there may be as many as 30,000 Chechens in France, 25,000 in Austria and 17,000 in Belgium. There is also a large Chechen diaspora in Turkey, including representatives from the North Caucasian militant group, the Caucasus Emirate. While exact numbers are not known, some of the Chechen fighters in Syria have come from the Chechen diaspora.” Read more.

By Bryan Seymour, 7News – “A Muslim Youth Group is under investigation after a disturbing video of children as young as six years old calling for an end to Australian democracy was unearthed by 7News.

In the vision, children as young as six years old call for violent action against non-Muslims and to reject Australia and its values.

A terror risk expert says it’s brainwashing, aimed at creating violent extremists.

The video shows four Australian children, aged six to 13, calling for an end to our way of life.

‘These are disturbing and shocking images and they do raise concerns about the welfare of the four young boys who are identified in the video,’ Family and Community Services Minister Gabrielle Upton said.

A group calling itself The Muslim Youth Project runs regular events for young children.

In the video of the event held on September 21 in 2013 in Lakemba, young boys rally under the banner ‘Soldiers of Khilafa’ with a six-year-old proclaiming: ‘You’re never too young to be a Soldier for Khilafa.’

The children promise to die fighting to end democracy in Australia, replacing it with a Caliphate ruled by Islamic Sharia law.

They also call for American President Barack Obama to ‘go to hell’, for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to be beheaded and for an end to Western ideals.

‘I think it’s ugly, I think it’s sickening, and I think it’s absolutely disturbing,’ Immigration Minister Scott Morrison said.” Read more.

Abu Sattar recruits fighters for the terrorist militia Islamic State in Turkey. Radical Islamists travel to Turkey from all over the world to join the “holy war” in Iraq or Syria and Abu Sattar examines their motives and the depth of their religious beliefs. Several Islamic State members independently recommended Abu Sattar as a potential interview partner — as someone who could explain what Islamic State stands for. He only agreed to an interview following a period of hesitation. But after agreeing to a time and saying he would name a place in due time, he let the appointment fall through. The next day, though, he arranged another meeting time, to take place in a public venue. And this time, he appears: a man with brown eyes behind frameless glasses. By Alexandra Klausner, Mail Online – “After two terrorist attacks in Canada in a week left two Canadian soldiers dead, ISIS has stepped up its rhetoric calling for even more radicals to carry out mass murder and mayhem in the country.

An even more horrifying fact is that an estimated 130 Muslim youths in Canada have been seduced and radicalized by ISIS and have even left Canada behind to join forces with them.

The first attack happened Monday night – a hit-and-run by suspected jihadist Martin Rouleau.

The second strike was carried out by a gunman on Wedesday on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. One of the shooters, Canadian national Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, was shot dead, reports Insite Blog.

Ever since Canada announced their involvement in the coalition against ISIS, jihadist supporters have taken to Twitter to call for ‘justice’ in the hopes to shake the country’s nerves by instilling fear and terror.

One such Twitter account is that of Abu Khalid Al-Kanadi who has tweeted several calls for attack and commented on Rouleu’s attack on October 21, 2014.

‘Muslims in Canada, follow the footsteps of our brave brother Martin Rouleau who took revenge for Canadian military aggression in our lands,’ he wrote.

One day later his account was suspended.

Insite Blog reports that a second jihadist Twitter account posted on October 21 and said that Canada is ‘starting to pay the price of intervention’ of the war against ISIS and followed up with a second tweet urging more attacks.

Muhammad beheaded the Qurayzah men because he considered them to have betrayed him and effectively revolted against his rule. So the Islamic State here is following Muhammad’s example quite closely.

REYHANLI, Turkey — The cost of turning against the Islamic State was made brutally apparent in the streets of a dusty backwater town in eastern Syria in early August. Over a three-day period, vengeful fighters shelled, beheaded, crucified and shot hundreds of members of the Shaitat tribe after they dared to rise up against the extremists.

By the time the killing stopped, 700 people were dead, activists and survivors say, making this the bloodiest single atrocity committed by the Islamic State in Syria since it declared its existence 18 months ago.

The little-publicized story of this failed tribal revolt in Abu Hamam, in Syria’s eastern Deir al-Zour province, illuminates the challenges that will confront efforts to persuade those living under Islamic State rule — in Iraq as well as Syria — to join the fight against the jihadist group, something U.S. officials say is essential if the campaign against the militants is to succeed.

The Abu Hamam area has now been abandoned, and many of the bodies remain uncollected, offering a chilling reminder to residents elsewhere of the fate that awaits those who dare rebel.

Just as powerful a message for those living under the militants’ iron fist was the almost complete international silence on the bloodbath.…

“We saw what the Americans did to help the Yazidis and the Kurds. But they have done nothing to help the Sunnis against the Islamic State,” he said.

Abu Salem and the other men said they did not so much begrudge the efforts to help Kurds as wonder why no one had helped them when their community was under attack. The carnage inflicted on the Shaitat tribe has instilled in the Abu Hamam survivors a loathing for the Islamic State and the warped brand of Islamist politics for which it stands, said Abu Siraj, another of the tribesmen. A former lawyer, he, like most of the men, asked to be identified only by his nom de guerre because he fears being tracked even to Turkey by the jihadists.

“Now we hate everyone who prays,” he said. “Now we hate even beards.”

Here’s a novel idea. How about vetting Mohammed’s teachings instead? Reviewing new converts is all fine and dandy, but checking into converts does nothing to confront the violent supremacist teachings of the “prophet” these converts follow …

CTV News – “A prominent Muslim cleric says he intends to reach out to other imams to make sure that new converts to Islam are watched closely for signs of radical beliefs.

While authorities have said little about the motives for this week’s attacks in Ottawa and Quebec, Imam Syed Soharwardy of Calgary says he is concerned about media reports that the two perpetrators were recent converts to Islam.

Soharwardy, the founder of Muslims Against Terrorism and the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, said imams should look for warning signs, such as a criminal record or drug abuse, before allowing an individual to convert.

And he wanted to travel to the Middle East soon himself  in order to “study” Islam more, just like his father before him. Unfortunately, the Canadian government revoked his passport out of fear he would wage jihad outside of Canada. And, like the Islamic terrorist a few days earlier in Quebec, he wasn’t content sitting around as an inferior Muslim …

By Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch – “Even while in the process of revealing these facts, the Globe and Mail does its best to divert attention away from them by quoting a friend asserting that Zehaf-Bibeau must be mentally ill, and marshaling evidence to support that claim. This is what we see after every jihad attack and uncovered jihad plot: a rush to find some other motive, and to exonerate Islam from all responsibility. Are authorities going into the mosque Zehaf-Bibeau attended and investigating what is taught there? Or are they too busy reassuring mosque leaders that they will protect them against an ‘Islamophobic backlash’?

‘Suspected killer in Ottawa shootings had a disturbing side,’ by Colin Freeze and Les Perreaux, The Globe and Mail, October 22, 2014 (thanks to Axel):

Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, the slain 32-year-old suspected killer of a Canadian Forces soldier near Parliament Hill, was a labourer and small-time criminal – a man who had had a religious awakening and seemed to have become mentally unstable.

Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau was born in 1982 and was the son of Bulgasem Zehaf, a Quebec businessman who appears to have fought in 2011 in Libya, and Susan Bibeau, the deputy chairperson of a division of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board. The two were divorced in 1999.

The military confirmed the death of a soldier shot at the National War Memorial in Ottawa Wednesday. Maj.-Gen. Christopher Coates says Canadian Forces bases across the country are taking “precautions” to assure staff safety.

Ms. Bibeau did not answer e-mails Wednesday, and staff at her offices declined to comment. No one answered the door at her Montreal townhouse. Mr. Zehaf also could not be reached.

Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau grew up in Eastern Canada, including Ottawa and Montreal, and had spent time in Libya before moving to Western Canada to become a miner and labourer, according to friend Dave Bathurst.

Mr. Bathurst said he met Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau in a Burnaby, B.C., mosque about three years ago. He said his friend did not at first appear to have extremist views or inclinations toward violence – but at times exhibited a disturbing side.

“We were having a conversation in a kitchen, and I don’t know how he worded it: He said the devil is after him,” Mr. Bathurst said in an interview. He said his friend frequently talked about the presence of Shaytan in the world – an Arabic term for devils and demons. “I think he must have been mentally ill.”
