FOX News – “Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel issued a dire warning Thursday about the threat posed by the Islamic State terrorist group, saying the organization is ‘beyond anything that we’ve seen.’

Hagel spoke at a press conference in which he addressed the execution of American journalist James Foley, at the hands of terrorists from the group, also known as ISIS or ISIL. The U.S. military continues to launch airstrikes against Islamic State targets in northern Iraq, in support of Iraqi and Kurdish forces, but Hagel suggested more action may be necessary.

‘ISIL is as sophisticated and well-funded as any group that we have seen,’ Hagel said. ‘They’re beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess. They are tremendously well-funded. Oh, this is beyond anything that we’ve seen. So we must prepare for everything.’

He said the only way to do that is take a ‘cold, steely hard look’ and ‘get ready.’

The U.S. has restricted its military action to Iraq, but concerns have increased as the Islamic militant group extends its reach from safe havens in Syria across the Iraqi border.

Speaking alongside Hagel at a Pentagon news conference, Army Gen. Martin Dempsey said that although the Islamic State group can be contained it cannot be defeated without attacking it in Syria.

Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said this would not necessarily require airstrikes by the U.S., although Hagel appeared to leave open that possibility by telling reporters, ‘We’re looking at all options.’

Dempsey, who served multiple tours in Iraq during the 2003-2011 war, was pointed in his comments about what it would take to ultimately defeat the Islamic State group.

‘They can be contained, not in perpetuity,’ Dempsey said. ‘This is an organization that has an apocalyptic, end-of-days strategic vision and which will eventually have to be defeated.'” Read more.

‘Why is it that the [Muslim] armies have not moved? Is it that we don’t have armies? Is it that we are cowards? No, no, no. This Islamic nation has been blessed with men, with women, with faith, with people who long for martyrdom, with people who want to be the descendants of Saladin… Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan – we could drown this place. But what we have today is rulers who have abandoned the Quran.’

Mustafa’s words come as Britain finds itself mired in dealing with homegrown extremism which has led to over 500 jihadists absconding and moving to Iraq and Syria to fight alongside the brutal terrorist organisation ISIS.

While counter-extremism experts have been warning about Hizb ut-Tahrir and the likes of Mustafa for years, the British government has been unable to proscribe the group for fear of being slapped down by the European Court of Justice.

Allen, USMC (Ret), Defense One – “The brutal murder of the brave American journalist James Foley is meant to directly terrorize the world’s media, the international community, and the United States. If all the actions of the Islamic State, or IS, to date weren’t sufficiently reprehensible, this act and the potential for other similar acts will snap American attention with laser-like focus onto the real danger IS poses to the existence of Iraq, the order of the region and to the homelands of Europe and America.

Make no mistake, the abomination of IS is a clear and present danger to the U.S. The only question really is whether the U.S. and its allies and partners will act decisively now while they can still shape events to destroy IS, an act that seems increasingly self-obvious.

President Barack Obama, our commander-in-chief, was right to order airstrikes on IS elements in northern Iraq. He was also right to order humanitarian relief for the Yazidis and other desperate Iraqi minority elements fleeing the onslaught of IS elements, but until the grisly death of James Foley much of the American public was only beginning to awaken to what IS is and the enormity of the threat it represents.

The U.S. is now firmly in the game and remains the only nation on the planet capable of exerting the kind of strategic leadership, influence and strike capacity to deal with IS. It is also the only power capable of organizing a coalition’s reaction to this regional and international threat. As a general officer commanding at several levels in the region, I can say with certainty that what we’re facing in northern Iraq is only partly a crisis about Iraq. It is about the region and potentially the world as we know it.

Weeks ago I called for this group to be attacked in the manner only the U.S. can undertake – suddenly, swiftly, surgically – to deal it a setback and to begin the systematic dismantlement of this scourge. As we consider this threat there are some important points to consider that give urgency to the imperative to act:

The Islamic State is executing a well-thought-out campaign design intended to dismantle both Syria and Iraq and install in their place an Islamic Caliphate. Though we’re keyed into it now, we missed it initially.

IS is a well-organized entity, almost certainly supported by former Saddamist regime elements whose hand can be seen in the campaign design now unfolding. This group is not a flash in the pan that will go away of its own accord or if we don’t poke at it. It is not benign. IS is reinforced by Sunni tribal elements from Syria and Iraq, and most alarmingly, is aided by a witch’s brew of foreign fighters from Chechens to Uighurs to Pashtuns, but also including Europeans and Americans. The Caliphate’s Western recruits will be felt in the European and American homelands for years to come regardless of the fate IS and its cause.

IS is quite well heeled. It is flush with recently captured American and Iraqi ordnance and armored vehicles, and awash with dollars lifted from Iraqi banks along its route of advance. It is demonstrating an alarming ability to absorb heavier and more complex military capabilities and put them to work against their erstwhile opponents. IS is able to demonstrate substantial battlefield innovation and agility — two qualities none of us can afford as IS continues its forward movement and attempts to consolidate.

So how should we ‘see’ IS and what is this terrorist group up to?

Now WGN Investigates has found an online war of words and disturbing images that includes an implied threat to a Chicago landmark building.

It’s a nasty, sometimes horrible back and forth coming on the heels of U.S. bombing of ISIS forces in Iraq involving Facebook and Twitter pages with titles like, #AMessageFromISIStoUS and vice versa.

Near the top of this tit for tat is the gruesome video and pictures of journalist James Foley’s beheading.

Some Americans posted on the site disgusting photoshopped images Islamic religious leaders having sex with animals and images of U.S. firepower.

They’re reacting to one of the tweets which shows the ISIS flag in front of the White House.

But scroll down a little farther and you see a picture that might look familiar. Not the writing, which appears to be in Arabic, but the building in the background. That’s on Michigan Ave.

307 N. Michigan Ave to be precise. It’s at the corner of Michigan and South Water Street and it’s called the Old Republic Building.

By Bob Unruh, WND – “The ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee in the U.S. Senate is warning that ISIS terrorists, those who this week beheaded an American journalist, are trying to develop the capability of blowing up an entire American city.

The comments from Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., came in an interview with the Fox affiliate in Oklahoma City.

He said the U.S. now is in ‘the most dangerous position we’ve ever been in.’

Responding to questions about terror and the threat facing Americans, he said: ‘They’re crazy out there. And they are rapidly developing a method of blowing up a major U.S. city. You just can’t believe that’s happening.’

He told the station the threat is significant, and he blamed it on the cuts in defense spending made by President Obama.

‘He’s going to have to come up with something we’re going to do because they’re holding another hostage … and the problem is the president, he says all these things and he never does them.’

ISIS members, he said, are ‘really bad terrorists.’

‘They’re so bad that al-Qaida’s afraid of them.’

The threat to the U.S. should not be underestimated, he said.

‘This idea they’re coming in, infiltrating the United States. Sure some are coming in that are associated with ISIS, but a majority of them are still over there and they are undoing a lot of the good that has been done,’ he said.

According to a report in The Hill, ISIS, also known as Islamic State, ‘has long threatened to carry out a catastrophic attack on American soil, with a spokesman recently boasting that the militant group would fly its flag over the White House.’

Last night, the 22-year-old mother-of-one, launched a sickening tirade and promised to become the group’s first female murder queen.

She tweeted: ‘Any links 4 da execution of da journalist plz. Allahu Akbar. UK must b shaking up haha. I wna b da 1st UK woman 2 kill a UK or US terorrist!(sic)’.

Dare previously sparked outrage after pictures emerged of her toddler son holding an AK47.

Earlier this year, the radical posted a worrying message calling for fellow British people to join her, saying: ‘All da people back in dar ul kufr [land of disbelievers] what are you waiting for … hurry up and join da caravan to where the laws of allah is implemented.’

‘Shame on all those people who afford fancy meals and clothes and do not make hijra [the word for Mohammad’s journey]. Shame on you.’

Dare has previously described witnessing the execution of a young ‘rapist’ in Raqqa, the Syrian town where she lives with her Swedish husband.

She tweeted: ‘On da way 2 da market in Manbij, me and sum sisters was wonderin wat da commotion was all about…On da way back frm da market, we see da body of a young man, with blood comin his nose…tied onto a tree.’

Anjem Choudary: In Love With Hate

Some posted in Arabic, others in English. All legitimised the brutal act as religiously ordained.

Abu Aminah, under the username of @ghazisami, tweeted: ‘My hopes and prayers in this whole James Foley fiasco goes to the mujahid executioner. May Allah keep him and his family safe.’ He used verses from the Koran and Hadiths to support the beheading. Indicating that he was British, he said of the knifeman: ‘Half of UK Pakis speak like that.’

Abul Muthanna, a self-described ‘soldier of the Islamic State’, described the British ‘brother’ as a ‘lion’. Tweeting under the username of @abulmuthanna313, he said: ‘They went on a mad one.’ He later wrote: ‘U can call our acts horrific but calling us cowards? Our men love death like u love life, they come at u with explosive belts #DeathSeekers’. The writer is thought to be Nasser Muthana, 20, from Cardiff. His younger brother Aseel, 17, and their friend Reyaad Khan, 20, are among about 500 British jihadists believed to have fought alongside IS forces in Syria and Iraq.

Anjem Choudary, the radical British preacher, said that the killing was the result of the bombing by ‘America and its allies’ and added: ‘You reap what you sow. The effect has a cause.’ He said that Foley ‘got in the way’ and was ‘from their perspective the voice of the Americans and British who has to sell his piece and is not in any way shape or form someone independent’.

He said there was ‘no need’ for journalists to go to Syria to report and they should ‘keep clear and allow the implementation of the Shariah’. ‘Muslims don’t rely on Western journalists,’ he added.

Mr Choudary refused to condemn the killing and said it was irrelevant that the man was from Britain and a British passport was ‘just a travel document’. But he added: ‘Muslims in Britain are much more politicised than other western countries. They talk about jihad, Shariah and call for the khilafah [Muslim state] while others are talking about halal food and circumcision. I am not surprised so many are currently going to Syria and are prepared to sacrifice their lives abroad.’

Junaid Hussain, 19, a British hacker, is believed to have slipped police supervision and escaped to Syria after serving a jail sentence for stealing personal information about Tony Blair.

Calling himself Abu Abdullah al-Britani, he wrote on Twitter: ‘And know that the one who kills for the sake of His Lord will never go to the same place as the one he killed.’

Less than two weeks ago, Mr Hussain posted a photo of a fellow fighter sitting in the front seat of a vehicle, captioned: ‘From the streets of London to the dirt roads of Jihad.’ He also posted pictures of various rifles and his ‘little Princess’ dressed in a full niqab. He has encouraged his followers to take action, saying: ‘Some of you will only move when it is your mum in that prison and your wife that has been raped.’

Abu Turaab al-Kanadi, a Canadian fighter with the username of @AlTuraabSVD, made light of the decapitation, saying it was ‘time to play soccer’…

Abu Bakr Al-Janabi, who tweeted images of other Isis fighters brandishing knives in what he said was preparation for further beheadings, wrote: ‘The man who carried out the execution was British. which send a signal by saying ‘We are everywhere, we will come after you’.” Read more.

FOX News – “The U.S. intelligence community has confirmed the authenticity of a video showing Islamic State extremists beheading American journalist James Foley, as military analysts and U.S. lawmakers say the execution should be a wake-up call to the need to dismantle the militant organization.

President Obama, currently in Martha’s Vineyard, plans to make a statement at 12:45 p.m. ET.

The remarks come after the White House National Security Council released a brief statement saying the intelligence community reviewed the video and has ‘reached the judgment that this video is authentic.’

The beheading marks the first time the Islamic State — also known as ISIS, or ISIL — has killed an American citizen since the Syrian conflict broke out in March 2011, upping the stakes in an increasingly chaotic and multilayered war.

‘America got a glimpse of exactly who they are,’ House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., told Fox News on Wednesday. ‘This is a group you need to deal with.’

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., called the ‘brutal execution’ of a hostage ‘the clearest indication to date that ISIL has declared war on the United States.’

The militants in the video railed against U.S. airstrikes in Iraq and threatened to kill a second American journalist, depending on Obama’s ‘next decision’ – an apparent reference to U.S. military policy in the region.

The video puts pressure on the White House to weigh the risks of ramping up airstrikes in Iraq targeting the Islamic State, and the possibility that militants could kill more Americans in response.

By Jin Tulia, China Topix – “Fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) threatened to attack the United States everywhere if U.S. security forces continue to launch air strikes against its militants, Reuters reported.

The terrorist group that seized large areas of Iraq posted a video that showed an image of an American executed during the initial war in Iraq with a written statement saying ‘we will drown all of you in blood’, some reports said.

According to Reuters, ISIS also warned the U.S. that it will wipe them off the map if any of its militants are killed as they escalate air strikes against U.S. targets.

ISIS’s latest threat was released on the same day President Barack Obama held a press conference from the White House, reports confirmed.

Obama said that U.S security forces aid both Iraqi and Kurdish troops to reclaim the Mosul Dam that the militants seized. The U.S. military would continue to conduct air strikes and provide humanitarian support to the war victims, he added.

According to some reports, this is not the first time ISIS warned to attack the United States. Militants continuously berated the U.S. and said they will humiliate their security forces everywhere and will raise the flag of Allah in the white house.” Read more.
