The News – “THE leader of the city council has moved to reassure people after it emerged a jihadi from Portsmouth posted he would go on a ‘killing spree’ if he returned from Syria.

The comments from Councillor Donna Jones come after a man fighting with Al-Qaeda linked group Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant in Syria wrote a message on Twitter.

The man, using the name Abu Abdullah, seemed to threaten to kill non-Muslims.

He wrote: ‘Yeah mate, go back to Britain. You got to be joking. I’ll probably end up going on a killing spree with all the kuffar around me.’

Speaking to The News Cllr Jones said: ‘The Muslim community here in Portsmouth are very upset what’s happened with these young men going over to Syria.

‘We must remember it’s a very small number, when we take into consideration the other British men who have gone. It’s concerning when any British citizen behaves in such a way.’

As reported, a group of men from the city left for war-torn Syria via Turkey to fight with the Islamist rebel group ISIS.

Just yesterday the Home Office banned ISIS, with Immigration and Security Minister James Brokenshire saying the move sends a ‘strong message’ that terrorism is not tolerated.

In a statement he said: ‘We condemn all acts of terrorism committed in Syria, where the conflict poses a growing threat to UK, regional and international peace and security.

‘Proscription is a useful weapon in the armoury at the disposal of the Government, police and security service to disrupt terrorist activity and protect the UK.’

It comes as it emerged 19-year-old, of Portsmouth, Muhammad Hassan also posted a message indicating his support for violence against non-Muslims outside of Syria.

He wrote on Twitter: ‘America wants to drone Dawlah? Inshallah, you will receive many more 9/11s.’” Read more.

Sunni Islamist militants claimed on Sunday that they had massacred hundreds of captive Shiite members of Iraq’s security forces, posting grisly pictures of a mass execution in Tikrit as evidence and warning of more killing to come.

In Syria:

The Al-Qaeda-breakaway Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria has prevented food and medical supplies from reaching some neighborhoods in an eastern Syrian city, an activist group said Friday.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said … an offensive by ISIS in eastern Syria against rival Islamic rebel factions has killed more than 640 people and uprooted at least 130,000 since the end of April.

In Spain:

Spanish police arrested eight people in a pre-dawn raid in Madrid on Monday, breaking up a jihadist recruitment network led by a former Guantanamo Bay inmate, the government said…

Spain’s government has said it fears battle-hardened Islamist fighters may return to Spain from Syria… Spain this year marked the 10th anniversary of the March 11, 2004 Al Qaeda-inspired bombing of four packed commuter trains in Madrid, which killed 191 people.

By Mike Pflanz, The Telegraph – “Gunmen flying the flag of Somalia’s al-Qaeda affiliate roared into a Kenyan coastal town and opened fire indiscriminately on pedestrians, shop-owners and people watching the World Cup, leaving at least 48 people dead.

Two banks, government buildings and a dozen vehicles were set alight as the Islamist attackers worked their way through the town of Mpeketoni, close to Lamu island, until Kenyan forces repelled them hours later.

It was the boldest raid inside Kenya blamed on al-Shabaab since the terror strike against the Westgate Shopping Centre in the capital, Nairobi, last September, when more than 70 people died.

Britain has advised tourists to avoid areas of Kenya’s coast south of where the attack took place, including Mombasa island. Mpeketoni does not fall inside that alert zone, but is rarely visited by Western tourists.

Three minibus taxis carrying al-Shabaab’s black flag and full of armed men in balaclavas arrived soon after dark on Sunday night, shooting dead people walking on the roads leading into Mpeketoni before continuing into town and opening fire.

Two workers’ hostels where people were watching Switzerland v Ecuador on bar-room televisions were amongst the first targets. Both buildings were set on fire and completely destroyed.

Julius Kimotho, an activist with a church-based human rights organisation who lives in Mpeketoni, said he could hear gunfire through the night.

“My house less than a mile from the town centre, and I could see the houses burning and hear the gunfire, it went on until something like 3am,” he said. “I could hear people wailing, crying for someone to save them. It was very bad.”

By Robert Windrem, NBC News – “In the two months since Boko Haram fighters kidnapped hundreds of schoolgirls in northeastern Nigeria, the terror group has taken at least 1,000 lives in what may be the deadliest killing spree by a single terrorist group since the Sept. 11 attacks, according to an NBC News analysis of reports from the region.

While the fate of the 272 girls kidnapped on April 14 remains unknown, Boko Haram has added to its bloodthirsty reputation since the abduction with a string of attacks — including three that killed more than 100 men, women and children apiece. The pace of the attacks has increased dramatically since the kidnappings, instilling fear not just in the civilian population, but in the Nigerian government and security services as well, according to U.S. counterterrorism officials.

“The group’s ability to conduct high-casualty attacks has evolved to an unprecedented level, even compared to 2012 when they bombed the U.N. building in Abuja,” said one senior counterterrorism official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “This period far surpasses that. The group has learned how to make their tactics more deadly and has expanded their reach beyond the control of security forces.”

The worst was an attack last month on two public markets in the towns of Gamboru and Ngala in Borno state that killed more than 300 people. That incident alone was the third-worst terror attack since al Qaeda used hijacked jetliners to attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, trailing only a coordinated string of car bombings targeting Yazidi communities in northern Iraq on Aug. 14, 2007, that left 796 dead, and the school massacre in Beslan, Russia, in 2004, which killed more than 380 people, mostly children.

Boko Haram Continues to Abduct Young Girls

At the same time, the group has continued to abduct young girls, according to a senior U.S. counterterrorism official, who spoke with NBC News on condition of anonymity. There have been at least three similar abductions of groups of 10 to 20 girls since the raid on a school in Chibok in which hundreds were snatched. The most recent abduction occurred on Monday, when Boko Haram fighters seized 20 more girls from a village not far from Chibok, loaded them onto trucks and drove away, the official said.

On Thursday, fears that the group could mount massive attacks on World Cup “viewing centers” prompted the government to ban public screenings of games in the northern part of the country. Such centers have been the target of Boko Haram at least twice in the last two months. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has previously preached against football, as soccer is known in Africa, as part of the Islamist group’s agenda to impose strict sharia law in northern Nigeria.” Read more.

Breitbart – “Sunni militants captured a strategic northern Iraqi city along the highway to Syria on Monday, sending thousands of residents from an ethnic minority fleeing for safety and moving closer to their goal of linking areas under their control on both sides of the border.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday that American drone strikes are an option in a bid to halt the dramatic sweep by insurgents over a swath of Iraq. He also said the Obama administration is willing to talk with Iran and does not rule out potential military cooperation between the two rivals to stop the rampage.

Already, the commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force, Gen. Ghasem Soleimani, is in Iraq, consulting with officials on how to roll back the al-Qaida-breakaway group leading the insurgent charge, known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, Iraqi security officials said. They said the U.S. government was notified in advance of Soleimani’s visit.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media, also said that U.S. aircraft have in recent days flown reconnaissance missions over Iraq to gather intelligence on the militants’ positions.

Soleimani has been inspecting Iraqi defenses and reviewing plans with top commanders and Iranian-backed Iraqi Shiite militias, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the visit. He set up an operations room to coordinate militias.

He also visited the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala south of Baghdad, home to the most revered Shiite shrines, and areas west of Baghdad where government forces have faced off with Islamic militants for months. The Islamic State has threatened to march to Baghdad, Karbala and Najaf.

Soleimani is one of the most powerful figures in Iran’s security establishment. His Quds Force is a secretive branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard involved in external operations. In the mid-2000s’, it organized Shiite militias in a campaign of deadly violence against U.S. troops in Iraq, according to American officials. More recently, it has been involved in helping Syria’s President Bashar Assad in his fight against Sunni rebels.

The militants’ capture of Tal Afar on Monday was a key prize, as it sits on a main highway between the Syrian border and Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, which the Islamic State captured last week.

The first phase was the political destabilization of formerly stable Arab countries by liberals and Islamists. The second phase was an armed conflict by Islamists to take over entire countries.

Advocates of the Arab Spring promised that political Islam would lead to an end to Islamic terrorism, but armed Jihad and political Jihad are two phases of the same Islamic struggle. Now the shift to the second phase is complete. The real beneficiaries of the Arab Spring were always going to be those who had the most guns and cared the least about dying in battle. And that was always going to be Al Qaeda.

Libya and Syria’s civil wars had a ripple effect as weapons were seized and recruits assembled. The lessons of the Afghan wars should have made it clear that the Jihadists involved in those conflicts would not simply go home and live normal lives once the fighting was concluded.

Instead they would find other wars to fight.

The War on Terror was fed by veterans of those wars. So were a dozen more minor Jihadist conflicts that don’t normally make the news. Those conflicts produced their own veterans and spread the war around.

The Arab Spring was supposed to use ‘moderate’ political Islamists to thwart ‘extremist’ terrorists, but that was never going to happen. There is no such thing as a moderate Islamist. There are only Islamic activists more focused on one phase of the conflict. Like the distinction between the political and armed branches of terrorist groups, these distinctions are tactical. They are not ideological.

While the Muslim Brotherhood was running for office in some countries, it was waging wars in others.  While liberal foreign policy experts assumed that an Islamist group’s shift from violent to political tactics was a change in worldview, there was plenty of evidence that, like the Muslim Brotherhood, they were opportunistically working both phases of the conflict.

Even if the political Islamists had succeeded in taking over, their own internal conflicts would have boiled down to the same bloody civil wars.” Read more.

Kashmiri has issued a clarifcation of Grand Ayatullah al-Sistani’s call to Jihad for North American based Shia Muslims. It is a call to arms. This email is circulating in Canadian Shia forums.

Grand Ayatullah al-Sistani’s statement is very carefully worded and must be understood with great clarity as it originates from the legitimate Islamic responsibility and draws a roadmap for the security of Iraq and the region. It also addresses the remnants of the previous crises that the religious authority repeatedly alerted about; thus, it does not address only the current issue based on sentiments or emotions.

The statement obligates that all existing and influential sides solidify in cooperation and unity to confront terrorism in defense of Iraq and its citizens.

The statement specifically obligates the believers in Iraq who are able to take up arms in defense to do so, exclusively through the Iraqi official security agencies. However, that does not mean believers outside of Iraq cannot participate in such an honor.

The Jihad in the statement is ‘Wajib Kefaee,’ meaning it is not an obligatory command for all believers. Therefore, women, elderly men, children, and even young men with higher education and expertise (who play a role in sustaining society) are not obligated. Any participant believer in this jihad is considered a martyr in the path of Allah Almighty.

It is required of all believers in the world to follow the instructions of the supreme religious authority exclusively through its reliable legitimate channels. They should also make every effort and stance that will enhance the defense against and defeat of terrorism. Furthermore, they should not forget to supplicate to God Almighty to gain victory over all the terrorists, and pray to hasten the appearance of our Imam (peace be upon him).” Source – BCF.

Running For Their Lives From The “Religion Of Peace”

Brown, One News Now – “… In an article entitled ‘Christ, Muhammad, and the Culture of Beheading,’ theologian Kenneth Gentry noted that ‘In Islam, the prophet Muhammad is the greatest example for the faithful to follow. He is the model of dedication to God par excellence; in fact, he is deemed the perfect example of submission to Allah. Hence, even deriding this perfect one is blasphemous, as witness the case of Salman Rushdie, who was put under a death sentence for belittling the prophet.

‘Now then, what can we learn from the example and the teachings of the ‘perfect’ founder of Islam? Do his life and teachings discourage the horrible conduct we see engaged, tolerated, and cheered by so many Muslims today?’

The answer to this question is found in early Islamic history.

‘But what,’ asks Gentry, ‘is the example, the way, the path of the prophet? He not only engaged in caravan raids early in his career as a prophet and in war later, but he himself was involved in the massacre of the Qurayza Jews wherein he ‘had trenches dug, and the men were led out in batches and beheaded.’ Ibn Ishaq’s ancient, authoritative Life of Muhammad records this event: ‘There were 600 or 700 in all, though some put the figure as high as 800 or 900.”

The Muslims in Syria and Iraq and Pakistan who are beheading their enemies, most of whom are fellow Muslims, are simply following the example of their prophet…

The tragic fact is that we simply cannot ignore the enormity of the threat of militant Islam worldwide, nor can we limit it to some dangerous pockets of the Middle East.

Al-Qaeda already touched our nation on 9/11, while the Boston Marathon Bombing is barely one year old.

As for our friends in Israel, positioned right in the midst of one of those dangerous Middle Eastern pockets, it is with good reason that, in a very real sense, the nation lives in constant high alert, with roughly 170,000 missiles pointed at its cities, with the terrorist organization of Hamas now in a unity government with the Palestinian Authority, and with militant Islam right at its doorsteps.

After all, Tehran is less than 1,000 miles from Tel Aviv (the distance from New York City to Tampa, FL); Baghdad is just 569 miles from Tel Aviv (the distance from New York City to Cincinnati, OH); and Damascus is just 133 from Tel Aviv (the distance from New York City to Albany, NY).
