By Tarek Fatah, Toronto Sun – “In the aftermath of Islamic jihadis — the Boko Haram — enslaving Christian school girls in Nigeria, the Muslim intelligentsia, instead of doing some serious introspection, has chosen to exercise damage control.

Columns by my co-religionists have appeared in newspapers ranging from the Toronto Star to The Independent in London and on CNN.com, where they avoid any reference to Sharia laws that permit Muslims to take non-Muslim female prisoners of war as sex slaves.

The fact is Muslim armies throughout history have been permitted under Islamic law to make sex slaves of non-Muslim prisoners.

Here is chapter 33, verse 50 of the Qur’an:

‘O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee.’

When asked for a clarification, A Saudi cleric issued a fatwa permitting sex slavery.

He said: ‘Praise be to Allaah. Islam allows a man to have intercourse with his slave woman, whether he has a wife or wives or he is not married … Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also did that, as did the Sahaabah (his companions), the righteous and the scholars.’

In the eighth century, when Arab armies invaded India, they took thousands of Hindu POWs as slaves back to the Caliph Walid in Damascus, who distributed the women as gifts to the newly emerging Arab nobility.

The ninth-century Persian historian al-Baladhuri writes in his book The Origins of the Islamic State that when the Arab general Muhammad bin Qasim invaded India in the year 711AD, the non-Muslim prisoners taken were given a choice of death or slavery.

Sixty thousand captives were made slaves in the city of Rur, among whom were ‘thirty ladies of royal blood.’ One-fifth of the slaves and booty were set apart for the caliph’s treasury and dispatched to Damascus, while the rest were scattered among the ‘army of Islam.’

The nineteenth century Indian Islamic scholar Abdullah Yusuf Ali, whose translation of the Qur’an is considered the most authentic, had the courage to be honest when he put a footnote to the Quranic verse mentioned above:

Matthew 24:6-7, “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosions, but the bombs bore the hallmarks of other attacks by Islamist sect Boko Haram, which has recently stepped up a bloody five-year battle campaign to establish a caliphate in northern Nigeria, and kidnapped more than 300 schoolgirls from a remote north-eastern school in April. In the past month, the group has set off two bomb blasts in the capital, Abuja, and another in the country’s second city, Kano.

Abdulsalam Mohd, of Nigeria’s national emergency management agency, said ambulances and volunteers were ferrying wounded and dead from Terminus, an area home to a teaching hospital, shops, offices and a market. He said the death toll was likely to climb as victims were still being pulled from smouldering rubble at the scene.

‘It happened very close to the market so most of the victims were people plying their trade. Some had children with them,’ he said by phone from the scene, above the wail of sirens.

‘The casualty figure is likely to rise because the fire service wasn’t able to clear all the rubble today. They will continue to remove the debris tomorrow and we are expecting to recover more bodies then,’ he added.

That could push the death toll close to Boko Haram’s single biggest atrocity yet, a multiple-bomb attack in Kano which killed 170 in January 2012 . The attack suggests that the group, which started with hit-and-run home-made explosives thrown from motorbikes, is seeking to make a show of its capabilities before the elections scheduled in 2015.” Read more.

World Tribune – “Iran has been rocked by huge explosion near a nuclear facility.

The Iranian media have reported an explosion in the northern Iranian city of Qazvin.

The blast, reported on May 6, was said to have taken place near a secret nuclear enrichment facility in Abyek.

‘The explosion took place in a storage facility,’ Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency, which reported at least 50 injured, said.

Officials said nobody was killed in the explosion. But they acknowledged a huge fire that was sweeping the industrial city, about 130 kilometers north of Teheran.

‘Firefighters are trying to prevent the spread of the fire at a car oil storage facility,’ Qazvin civil defense director Ali Ahani said.

Iranian opposition sources said scores of people were killed in the blast. They said Iranian Army and security forces closed much of Qazvin, with a population of 1.1 million.

‘It is not certain whether Abyek was the target,’ an opposition source said. ‘But this incident will hamper access to the facility in the short-term.’

The opposition said Iran’s nuclear facilities have been repeatedly targeted by Israel and the West.” Read more.

Lebanese Sunni Organization Claims Responsibility For Iran Explosion – “A Lebanese Sunni organization has claimed responsibility for the explosion in the fuel reserve in the Iranian city of Kazbin. The organization claimed that the act was directed at Iranian and Lebanese weapons experts who had developed a special weapon for Hezbollah.” Source – INN.

Immense Explosion In Iran May Have Nuclear Origins – “The blast may be related to nuclear development in Iran, according to the Los Angeles Times… The source of the blast remains undetermined. By Stewart Bell, National Post – “A Canadian foreign fighter in Syria taunted the ‘evil, despotic and Zionist Harper government’ on Wednesday, claiming it was losing the battle against extremism and that fighting jihad was becoming ‘as Canadian as maple syrup.’

In a blog post, Abu Dujana al-Muhajir, part of a small circle of Calgary youths who left for Syria to join armed extremist groups, said ‘so-called radical Islamists’ were gaining in popularity and the number of Canadian jihadists was growing.

He denounced leading Canadian Muslims opposed to extremist violence, naming writer Irshad Manji and imams Muhammad Robert Heft and Syed Soharwardy, calling them ‘deviant’ and saying they were outnumbered by militants.

‘Know very well that for every single sellouts [sic] like Tarek Fatah or Mubin Shaikh, we are gaining hundreds of brave Damian Clairmont and Andre Poulin from amongst you who are willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of Allah,’ he wrote.

Mr. Clairmont, who lived on social assistance in Calgary, and Mr. Poulin, who had brushes with the law in Timmins, Ont., were troubled youths who converted to Islam, became radicalized and died soon after arriving in Syria.

Quoting pro-Al-Qaeda ideologue Anwar Al Awlaki saying that jihad was becoming as American as apple pie and as British as afternoon tea, Abu Dujana wrote it was ‘high time that we add to his statement ‘and as Canadian as maple syrup.’’

Responding to the blog post, Mr. Fatah called Abu Dujana an ‘Islamist promoter of a death cult’ but said he agreed with him that those who subscribed to his extremist views should depart Canada to die for their cause.

‘I say hallelujah,’ said the author and columnist. ‘I urge all Canadian Islamists to follow the footsteps of this jihadi and leave Canada, permanently by burning their passports on arrival in Syria, Somalia, Pakistan or Afghanistan or whatever jihadi hellhole they wish to live in, but leave us alone and stop being the parasites that you are, eating away at Canada like termites.'” Read more.

Muslim apologists in the West will often obfuscate the teachings of Islam in an effort to sanitize it for an otherwise uninformed, non-Muslim audience. Unfortunately for these apologists, no amount of scrubbing can ever remove the blood that decorates the fabric of Mohammed’s dirty laundry …

By Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch – “Arsalan Iftikhar is ‘an international human rights lawyer, founder of TheMuslimGuy.com and adjunct professor of religious studies at DePaul University in Chicago.’ He is also the former National Legal Director of the Hamas-linked Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Here he offers a reassuring piece claiming that Boko Haram, that is, the Congregation of the People of the Sunnah for Dawah and Jihad, are misunderstanding Islam and misinterpreting the Qur’an, which, he says, categorically rejects ‘kidnapping young girls and threatening to sell them into sexual slavery.’ He offers two verses to support this idea: one that says that ‘oppression is worse than murder’ (2:191) and another declaring that nobody ‘shall force girls to commit prostitution’ (24:33).

Neither of these, unfortunately, are precisely on point. ‘Oppression’ is in the eye of the beholder; Abubakar Shekau thinks he is following the Qur’an’s dictates, and that that couldn’t possibly constitute oppression, no matter what. And these girls aren’t being forced into prostitution; they’re being sold off, as Iftikhar himself says in this very piece, into forced marriages with Boko Haram members.

Iftikhar doesn’t even mention the verses that Muslims like Abubakar Shekau point to in order to justify kidnapping young girls and selling them into sexual slavery:

If you fear that you will not act justly towards the orphans, marry such women as seem good to you, two, three, four; but if you fear you will not be equitable, then only one, or what your right hands own; so it is likelier you will not be partial. (Qur’an 4:3)

And:

And also prohibited to you are all married women except those your right hands possess. (Qur’an 4:24)

The mainstream Muslim commentary Tafsir al-Jalalayn explains that 4:3 tells Muslims to ‘marry only one, or, restrict yourself to what your right hands own, of slavegirls, since these do not have the same rights as wives.’ The twentieth-century Qur’an commentator Maulana Bulandshahri explains the wisdom of this practice, and longs for the good old days:

During Jihad (religion war), many men and women become war captives. The Amirul Mu’minin [leader of the believers, or caliph — an office now vacant] has the choice of distributing them amongst the Mujahidin [warriors of jihad], in which event they will become the property of these Mujahidin. This enslavement is the penalty for disbelief (kufr).

He goes on to explain that this is not ancient history:

None of the injunctions pertaining to slavery have been abrogated in the Shari’ah. The reason that the Muslims of today do not have slaves is because they do not engage in Jihad (religion war). Their wars are fought by the instruction of the disbelievers (kuffar) and are halted by the same felons. The Muslim [sic] have been shackled by such treaties of the disbelievers (kuffar) whereby they cannot enslave anyone in the event of a war. Muslims have been denied a great boon whereby every home could have had a slave. May Allah grant the Muslims the ability to escape the tentacles of the enemy, remain steadfast upon the Din (religion) and engage in Jihad (religion war) according to the injunctions of Shari’ah. Amen!

This touches upon a comment I made earlier regarding the unity deal between Hamas and the PA. If supporting Hamas is to support Islamic terror, what does that now make all those who support the Palestinian Authority after a Hamas-PA unity deal? Regardless, the fact of the matter is that the PA always has and always will support violent jihad and the destruction of the Jewish State, along with the extermination of every last Jewish man, woman and child who remains in Israel. By Paul Alster, FoxNews – “The Palestinian Authority’s announcement that it will send 3,000 police officers to Gaza as part of a unity agreement with Hamas could mean U.S. taxpayers are now at least indirectly helping an officially designated terror organization maintain law and order — and its grip on power.

The police deployment came as part of a deal between the mainly secular government of the West Bank and the radical Islamist regime of Hamas that rules in Gaza. That agreement effectively ended hopes for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process championed by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, but it also raises questions about U.S. foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority going forward. Since the U.S. subsidizes the PA budget to the tune of approximately $400 million per year, any effort to help Hamas indirectly spends U.S. dollars, say observers in Israel. That could be prohibited by U.S. policy, if it is read as part of a power-sharing agreement.

‘No aid is permitted for a power-sharing PA government that includes Hamas as a member, or that results from an agreement with Hamas and over which Hamas exercises ‘undue influence,’ unless the President certifies that the PA government, including all ministers, has accepted the following two principles… (1) Recognition of ‘the Jewish state of Israel’s right to exist’ and (2) acceptance of previous Israeli-Palestinian agreements,’ Jim Zanotti, a specialist in Middle Eastern Affairs, wrote in a report last September for the Congressional Research Service titled ‘U.S. Foreign Aid to the Palestinians.’

Those conditions have been met by the PA [ICA Edit: The Palestinian Authority has not met these conditions. PA President Abbas refuses to accept Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state, and “will never” recognize it as such], but Hamas, under whose control Gaza has continued to be a launching pad for cross-border missile attacks into Israel and a safe haven for Islamic Jihad and even Al Qaeda, steadfastly refuses to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist and is reportedly pressuring the PA to cease security co-operation with Israel in the West Bank. Zanotti’s report, however, highlights a clause that might leave wiggle room for the PA to avoid losing U.S. support.” Read more.
