By Ari Soffer, INN – “In the latest alarming evidence of child soldiers being used by Syrian rebel forces, an Islamist brigade linked to Al Qaeda released footage of a four year old it claimed as its youngest recruit.

In the video (below), the child – who can barely hold the AK-47 rifle he is firing – lets off two shots to cheers of ‘Allahu Akbar’. The tiny boy is clad in a black ski mask and is forced to rest the barrel of the rifle on what appears to be a section of a roadblock to prevent himself from falling over.

Britain’s Daily Mail reported that the child is believed to be the son of an Albanian jihadi, one of thousands of foreign Islamist fighters who have flocked to fight on both sides of the Syrian civil war, which is increasingly being waged as a sectarian conflict between Islam’s Shia and Sunni sects.

In December, a video by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) illustrated the numerous cases of young Syrian children – often orphans whoparents were killed by the Assad regime – fighting among the ranks of the country’s various rebel factions.” Read more.

Syria Jihadists Say The Liberation Of ‘Palestine’ Will Follow Assad’s Fall

Indeed it will, but not the kind of “liberation” they expect. While “Allah” and his “prophet” are themselves responsible for the never-ending death and destruction running rampant all throughout the Muslim world, the Muslim world continues to blame Israel as the sole source of all the ills that plague them, a claim often echoed my Islamic clerics and leaders worldwide. They have deceived themselves into believing that in order for there to be peace anywhere upon the earth Israel must first be destroyed. And “peace and safety” is what they expect to finally achieve when they gather together to “liberate” Jerusalem, anticipating that Israel will finally be a nation no more. But it is not Israel that will suffer utter destruction. It will be them …

‘Syria Jihadists Say Liberation of ‘Palestine,’ Golan Will Follow Fall of Assad (VIDEO),’ by Joshua Levitt for Algemeiner, January 28 (thanks to Blazing Cat Fur):

In recent footage from a Syrian Jihadist training camp in Aleppo, Mohammed Hussein, founder of Bin Laden Front, told a camera crew from VICE News that the militants’s [sic] goal was to topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, then its “aim is to liberate greater Syria.”

Hassan Abu Ali, a 15-year old fighter profiled in the report, told VICE, “Once Syria is liberated, our next mission is to liberate Palestine and Golan and continue our conquests. Thanks be to Allah.”

Hussein, the group’s leader, described the Bin Laden Front, one of many Jihadist armies fighting the regime outside of Aleppo and in the Syrian countryside, as a direct outgrowth of his training under 9-11 mastermind Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan, in 2001.

The footage, uploaded to YouTube last week, also profiled a female school teacher who, clad in burka and fatigues, was leading an all-female cell in military maneuvers through burnt-out Aleppo. Like the others, she said her anger was directed at the regime: “We are most unmerciful with those who raised their weapon to their own people and we would crush with our feet not only Bashar but whoever supports him.”

The greater question of Jihad and its call for death as a martyr was also probed in one scene, in particular, with 15-year-old Abu Ali, trying to convince his fair-haired younger sister, still a toddler, of the value of him dying for the cause. “The revolution has opened my eyes to the true nature of the regime,” he told her.

After pushing her on a swing, Abu Ali is sitting next to her on a sofa in their family’s house with his rifle by his side, and she asks him if he’s going to go play with it, and he responds that Read more…

State Department Adviser On Extremism Urges US To ‘Befriend’ Al Qaeda

Seems to me like the Obama Administration is already trying to befriend the enemy. According to the enemy’s deity, however, they are forbidden from befriending them back …

Qur’an Sura 5:51, “… they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them [unbelievers]; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”

Just Violent Extremists. And there’s no more counter-terrorism, just experts on Countering Violent Extremism.

William McCants was a U.S. State Department senior adviser for countering violent extremism and is a director of the Project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World at the Brookings liberal think tank.

At the CFR’s Foreign Affairs, McCants joined together with two others to argue that Ahrar al-Sham is, and I quote, ‘an al Qaeda–Linked Group Worth Befriending.’

With the collapse of the Free Syrian Army, the Islamic Front is now the only game in town for the people who insist that we should counter Al Qaeda by supporting Al Qaeda.

The article begins by defending Obama’s stupid jayvee crack, denounces the ‘political rights’ and argues that, ‘The al Qaeda of yesterday is gone. What is left is a collection of many different splinter organizations, some of which have their own — and profoundly local — agendas.’

That line is a bit misleading. The Al Qaeda of yesterday is not  gone, it’s overshadowed by local organizations, meaning that Al Qaeda has accomplished its goal of serving as a vanguard for a global movement of terrorist groups committed to its worldview.

The ‘jayvees’ have overshadowed the Lakers because they have more people, more weapons and more territory. While the Lakers are content to sit and watch the expansion of new franchises around the world.

“Today, two different al Qaeda affiliates, the al-Nusra front and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), are battling each other in Syria’s Raqqa province. Perhaps Oliver North might argue that it is incumbent on the United States to take out both groups. But a more nuanced take would lead the president to ask key questions before taking precipitate action.”

The article conveniently avoids answering the question while taking the time to sneer at Oliver North. But as the experts know full well, the old Al Qaeda had its share of violent conflicts.

The outcome of such a conflict is responsible for Zawahiri’s current position.

Then the article argues that Ahrar al-Sham and the rest of the Islamic Front are the best hope for defeating Al Qaeda in Iraq. That may or may not be so, but the article fails to qualify why we should care which flavor of Al Qaeda emerges victorious in the battle Read more…

Westminster Institute: ‘We Are Faced With A Potential Extinction Of The Church’ In Syria, Iraq, Lebanon …

By Alyssa Farah, WND – “The first delegation of Syrian Christian church leaders to visit the U.S. since civil war broke out in March 2011 spoke Monday at the Heritage Foundation, issuing a stunning warning that the nation’s Christian population could vanish.

‘Today we are faced with a potential extinction of the church,’ Patrick Sookhdeo, chairman of the Westminster Institute, warned. ‘Not just in Syria. We’ve seen it in Iraq. The church could fall in Lebanon.’

The panel discussion, ‘Marked for Destruction: The Plight of Syria’s Christians,’ featured Syrian Christian leaders Rev. Adib Awad, the general secretary of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon; H.E. Bishop Elias Toumeh, Orthodox bishop of Pyrgou-Syria; Rev. Riad Jarjour, former general secretary of the Middle East Council of Churches; H.E. Bishop Dionysius Jean Kawak of the Syrian Orthodox Church; Bishop Armash Nalbandian of the Armenian Church of Damascus, and Bishop Julian Dobbs.

Dobbs said Syria ‘used to be one of the easiest places in the Arab world to be a Christian across the Middle East.

‘The church has existed there since biblical times,’ he said. ‘Christians were respected by the Muslim majority and were able to practice their faith with little interference. But, this has largely changed since the civil war broke out.’

He described the persecution Christian Syrians have faced since the conflict erupted, and he criticized the West for largely ignoring their plight.

‘Christians in their homelands have been attacked and invaded, houses have been ransacked, Christians have been kidnapped for ransom and brutally murdered,’ Dobbs said. ‘Yet much of the Western World, the church, the media have remained silent about this situation.’

According to reports, there were more than 1,200 Christian martyrs in Syria in 2013 alone, while tens of thousands have been displaced.

Jarjour took to the podium to explain the plight of Christians still in Syria.

‘Our Christian community is a broken community; it’s a suffering community. We have thousands and thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) not in their homes, not knowing what to do,’ he said.

The delegation was hosted by the Westminster Institute and Barnabas Aid, a group that gives aid to oppressed Christians worldwide.

Al-Qaeda Tells Muslim Brotherhood To Execute All Christians And Anyone Else Who Oppose Sharia Law

Because “the teachings of Allah need to be applied and enforced” to advance the glory of Islam. And, of course, “all those who reject the Sharia must be executed.” When the “Word of Allah” speaks those who believe are compelled to make all others listen …

By Raymond Ibrahim – “Many of the alleged telephone recordings between ousted Egyptian president Muhammad Morsi and Muhammad Zawahiri, al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri’s brother, are becoming available on Egyptian media, and will likely be part of Morsi’s February 16 trial, dealing with his alleged conspiracies with various foreign jihadi organizations.

One call is especially telling regarding al-Qaeda’s enmity for secularists, Coptic Christians, and all who oppose the Sharia agenda.  I translate portions below:

Zawahiri: ‘The teachings of Allah need to be applied and enforced; the secularists have stopped the Islamic sharia, and the response must be a stop to the building of churches.’ ( An odd assertion considering how difficult it is for Copts merely to acquire a repair permit for their churches in Egypt.)

Zawahiri also added that ‘All those who reject the Sharia must be executed, and all those belonging to the secular media which works to disseminate debauchery and helps deviants and Christians to violate the Sharia, must be executed.’

Morsi reportedly replied: ‘We have taken deterrent measures to combat those few, and new legislative measures to limit their media, and in the near future, we will shut down these media stations and launch large Islamic media outlets.  We are even planning a big budget from the [Brotherhood] International Group  to launch Islamic and jihadi satellite stations  to urge on the jihad. There will be a channel for you and the men of al-Qaeda, and it can be broadcast from Afghanistan.’

Undeterred, Zawahiri responded by saying, ‘This [is a] Christian media — and some of the media personnel are paid by the [Coptic] Church and they work with those who oppose the Sharia… secularist forces are allied with Christian forces, among them [Naguib] Sawiris, the Christian-Jew.’

Morsi: ‘Soon we will uphold our promises to you.’

Egypt: Dozens Of Molotov Cocktail Bombs Found Near Ismailia Church

By Corey Bailey, ICC – “The first month of 2014 has seen numerous ‘attacks’ on churches and Christians in Egypt.  Witnesses and sources in Egypt reported to International Christian Concern (ICC), that despite the fact the following attacks were thwarted, they added to the fear Christians in Egypt face on a regular basis.

On Friday, January 3, supporters of Muslim Brotherhood attacked an Evangelical Church in the Gesr El Suez area of Cairo. The mob gathered in front of the church on Ahmed Esmat Street and began to ‘pelt stones on the church and change slogans against Christians,’ Mina Beshay, a Christian in this area, told ICC. Reports indicate that there was no security for the church building and that the attackers operated with impunity.

On Sunday, January 5, security forces in Suez disrupted a terrorist cell named, ‘Supporters of Jerusalem.’ They arrested the members when they discovered a plot to attack a nearby church on the nigh of their Christmas celebrations. Christmas among many Christians in Egypt is celebrated on January 7.

On Monday evening, January 6, a bomb was found in the bathroom of the Three Saints Church in Beni Suef city. Police diffused the bomb, initially discovered by a church member. A few days later, on January 10, security forces ‘arrested a bearded person in possession of four hand grenades in a handbag next to the Church of two Saints,’ Wissa Fawzy, a Christian in Alexandria told ICC.

On Friday, January 24, The civil defense forces and civil protection forces in Assiut Governorate found explosives inside a car parked behind the church of AL Malak.  The church, which is located in AL Numies street,in Assiut city, was targeted, ‘to be exploded,’ sources told ICC.

On Saturday, January 25, Security forces in Ismailia Security directorate found 26 Molotov Cocktails inside a bag next to the church of St. Bishoy in the area of Sheikh Zayed in Ismailia city. Witnesses say that the person in possession of the bag of explosives was sitting in a car next to the church and ‘he fled when he saw the policemen.’

Christians, a religious minority in Egypt, have lived in constant fear of attack. Christians have been kidnapped and their Churches bombed or raided on a regular basis.” Source – International Christian Concern.

Flashback: Islamic Party Member In Egypt Threatens Christians: You ‘Will Regret’ Supporting Overthrow Of Morsi – “Assem Abdel Magid, a member of the Islamic party Gamaah Islamiya, has renewed his threats against the Coptic Church and its leaders, who he accused again of supporting what he called a ‘coup.’ Magid insisted that the church and its leaders will regret it, and that the church made a strategic mistake when it stood against the first elected president. Magid was referring to the church’s support of the revolution of June 30, which deposed Mohamed Morsi… Prior to the Morsi ouster, Magid claimed in an interview on el-Nas Islamic channel on June 9, that, ‘Coptic communists, extremists, and atheists are calling for demonstrations on June 30′ while warning that Copts to not participate in these demonstrations by saying, ‘Do not offer your children as sacrifices.’” Read more.

‘Fatah publicizes threats to bomb Tel Aviv on its official Facebook page,’ by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik for Palestinian Media Watch, January 22:

Once again Fatah has chosen to post threats of terror against Israel on its official Facebook page. Yesterday, the movement posted a video in which Fatah’s military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, threatens to turn Tel Aviv into a “ball of fire”:

“We swear to you that we will turn the beloved [Gaza] Strip into a graveyard for your soldiers, and we will turn Tel Aviv into a ball of fire.”

These threats are made by a masked man in uniform standing in front of a group of other masked men, all of whom are holding weapons. The full video is eight minutes long and shows footage of masked men in military training, arsenals of weapons, missiles being launched, as well as footage of Israelis running for shelter during missile attacks.

Fatah is headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Its military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, has been declared a terrorist organization by the US, Canada, the EU and others.

Palestinian Media Watch recently reported on another terror promotion video that Fatah publicized, which included threats to kidnap, kill, and bomb Israelis. That video was also produced by Fatah’s military wing, the terror organization Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades….

A Kingdom Divided: There Will Be No Peace Between Arabs And Jews Until There Is Peace Between Arabs And Arabs

The problem is deeper than merely the fighting that exists within the Arab/Muslim world. The nature of jihad is spiritually rooted. But the op-ed below does make an important point in noting that no peace will ever exist between the Arabs and the Jews (and between the Muslim world and everyone else for that matter) until peace first exists in the Muslim world itself. Such peace, however, will only exist once the “Religion of Peace” is itself utterly destroyed …

Isaiah 48:22, “‘There is no peace,’ says the LORD, ‘for the wicked.’”

2 Thessalonians 2:8, “And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming.”

Micah 5:5a, “This One will be our peace …”

By Jack Engelhard, INN – “So now it turns out that for all the blood, sweat and tears we have lost Iraq. The terrorists are back. They have recaptured virtually every part of the country that had been won by our valorous men and women.

The cost? More than 4,000 Americans dead and more than 30,000 wounded. Plus billions of dollars — and all for what?

When it comes to the Arab world we simply do not know what we are doing and because of that everything we do is wrong.

On TV yesterday one expert said we never should have gone into Iraq. He was right. The other expert said we never should have left Iraq. He was also right.

Because when it comes to the Arab world we are strangers in strange lands and we will always be strangers. There is nothing we can fix unless they fix it themselves.

Will that day ever come? Be advised not to take such a bet…not in this lifetime.

So Secretary of State John Kerry’s panic-stricken efforts to make peace between the Palestinian Arabs and the Jewish State amounts to this – futility and nonsense.

Nothing can come of this except more wasteful concessions from Israel.

Concessions of the past – Sinai, Hevron, Gaza – have yielded no concessions in return, only more demands, more terror and more intransigence.

One of Kerry’s most recent offerings, that Israel accept 80,000 Palestinians into the Jewish homeland, leads to this question – how will these people fragment themselves? Into what rival groups? How many will be Hamas and how many will be Islamic Jihad and when will the fighting begin, this crowd against that crowd?

There are plenty of blueprints for this, as we saw when Yasser Arafat and his gang found refuge in Jordan and then Lebanon and in both places created terrible bloodshed. Even among his own kin there was rape, murder and chaos, until finally he brought his terrorism into Israel itself.

For in that part of the world it is about keeping grudges and settling scores. We Americans – we do not understand this. Neither do some Israelis.

It has got nothing to do with us and it has got nothing to do with Israel. It is between the Arabs and it is never wise to intervene inside domestic disputes.

How can there be peace between Arabs and Jews when there is no peace between Arabs and Arabs?” Read more.

In a 2007 research, Gunnar Heinsohn from the University of Bremen and Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, found out that some 11 million Muslims have been violently killed since 1948, of which 35,000, (0.3 percent) died during the six years of Arab war against Israel, or one out of every 315 fatalities. By Michael Brendan Dougherty, The Week – “Like many Coptic Christians in Egypt, Ayman Nabil Labib had a tattoo of the cross on his wrist. And like 17-year-old men everywhere, he could be assertive about his identity. But in 2011, after Egypt’s revolution, that kind of assertiveness could mean trouble.

Ayman’s Arabic-language teacher told him to cover his tattoo in class. Instead of complying, the young man defiantly pulled out the cross that hung around his neck, making it visible. His teacher flew into a rage and began choking him, goading the young man’s Muslim classmates by saying, ‘What are you going to do with him?’

Ayman’s classmates then beat him to death. False statements were given to police, and two boys were taken into custody only after Ayman’s terror-stricken family spoke out.

Ayman’s suffering is not an isolated case in Egypt or the region.

The Arab Spring, and to a lesser extent the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, were touted as the catalysts for a major historic shift in the region. From Egypt to Syria to Iraq, the Middle East’s dictatorships would be succeeded by liberal, democratic regimes. Years later, however, there is very little liberality or democracy to show. Indeed, what these upheavals have bequeathed to history is a baleful, and barely noticed legacy: The near-annihilation of the world’s most ancient communities of Christians.

The persecution of Christians throughout the Middle East, as well as the silence with which it has been met in the West, are the subject of journalist Ed West’s Kindle Single ‘The Silence of Our Friends.‘ The booklet is a brisk and chilling litany of horrors: Discriminatory laws, mass graves, unofficial pogroms, and exile. The persecuted are not just Coptic and Nestorian Christians who have relatively few co-communicants in the West, but Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants as well.

Throughout the Middle East the pattern is the same. Christians are murdered in mob violence or by militant groups. Their churches are bombed, their shops destroyed, and their homes looted. Laws are passed making them second-class citizens, and the majority of them eventually leave.

In Egypt, a rumor that a Muslim girl was dating a Christian boy led to the burning of multiple churches, and the imposition of a curfew on a local Christian population. Illiterate children were held in police custody for urinating in a trash heap, because an imam claimed that pages quoting the Koran were in the pile and had been desecrated. Again, the persecution resulted in Christian families leaving their homes behind.

In Syria, the situation is even worse. In June 2013, a cluster of Christian villages was totally destroyed. Friar Pierbattista Pizzaballa reported that ‘of the 4,000 inhabitants of the village of Ghassanieh… no more than 10 people remain.’

Two Syrian bishops have been kidnapped by rebel groups. Militants expelled 90 percent of the Christians in the city of Homs. Patriarch Gregorios III of Antioch says that out of a population of 1.75 million, 450,000 Syrian Christians have simply fled their homes in fear.

By Isabel Hunter, Al Jazeera – “Al-Qaeda fighters have struck a bloody blow in scenes of medieval violence in Syria’s northern border-town of Jarabulus. Fighting came to a head on January 17, between rebel groups Liwa al-Tawhid Brigade and the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the town, when reinforcements arrived from Raqqa and reclaimed the city in a brutal four-hour battle.

By nightfall, at least 10 men had been beheaded, their heads mounted on spikes, and more than 1,000 refugees fled the 3kms across the border to Turkey.

It’s a shocking turn of events for residents and Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters alike, who just a week ago believed they were hours away from expelling the al-Qaeda group from their city altogether after surrounding the last 40 fighters in the city’s cultural centre.

But when an ISIL car bomb killed 33 people – all women and children – the FSA brigade called for backup. Instead, what arrived was a 70-car ISIL convoy from Raqqa, an ISIL stronghold 160kms to the south-east. Fighters say half of the militants wore their usual black uniform and half wore camouflage like the FSA, and were uncharacteristically clean-shaven. The disguised fighters tied white bands around their arms to distinguish themselves from the real FSA.

More than 100 men were taken from their homes and escorted to the main square for what turned into a bloodbath.

Muhammad Jader, 22, and his uncle Ali, 35, were among those arrested.

‘They lined us up against the wall,’ Jader told Al Jazeera, ‘and the emir told them not to waste bullets. Suddenly they grabbed one guy and pinned him down on his stomach. Then one man from ISIL put his knee on his back, shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ and cut off his head with a knife.’

‘They chose people at random to kill,’ he said. ‘There was no logic.’

One was beheaded because they found cigarettes in his pocket.

Approximately 40 men were mowed down by a spray of automatic gunfire in a show of reckless and wanton violence.

The surviving men were then questioned about their connections to the FSA – even giving the rebels a glass of water earned the person a death sentence.” Read more.

By Hannah Roberts, Mail Online – “Britain’s most senior Muslim politician, Sayeeda Warsi, has warned that the persecution of Christians has become ‘a global crisis’.

Minister for Faith Baroness Warsi described ‘a rising tide’ in attacks on Christians in the war-torn regions of Egypt, Iraq and Syria where they often become ‘scapegoats’ for events taking place thousands of miles away.

Warsi, a mother of five and the daughter of Pakistani immigrants, pointed out that Christian minorities are threatened by Muslim majorities in the very places that gave rise to Christianity.

In an open letter to L’Osservatore Romano, the official Vatican newspaper, she wrote: ‘The bitterest irony of this persecution – ostracism, discrimination, abuse, forced conversion, torture and even murder – is that it is taking place in a region where Christianity has its roots.

‘Sometimes these cases are examples of collective punishment: people lashing out at Christian minorities in response to events happening many miles away.

‘Other times, a Christian is just a convenient ‘other’ – a scapegoat.’

‘The threat to religious freedom, I believe, has become a global crisis.’

The number of Christians killed for their faith around the world doubled in 2013. The senior Tory said that majority Muslim communities have a duty to defend Christian minorities.

She said: ‘History teaches us that we have only defeated intolerance and hatred when we have all come together, whatever the cause. The majority communities need to defend the minorities.’

The peer, who is also a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister of State, said that ‘the government has elevated (religious discrimination against Christians and other minorities) to a key priority in the government’s human rights work.’

An estimated 100 million Christians around the world suffered persecution for their faith in 2013.

Failing states with civil wars or persistent tensions such Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen were often the most dangerous for Christians.

There was now ‘a strong drive to purge Christianity from Somalia’, a report by non-denominational group Open Doors USA who compiled a list of the worst countries said.

The majority of anti-Christian persecution in the world in 2013 took place at the hands of radical Muslims, according to the report, both in Islamic countries such as Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Pakistan, Iran and Yemen and in non-Muslim countries such as Kenya and Tanzania.” Read more.

Syrian Muslim Couple Taught To Hate Israel Has Eyes Opened After Israeli Treatment, ‘People Here Have A Conscience’

By Danny Brenner, Israel Hayom – “Israel Defense Forces troops brought a wounded Syrian couple to Poriah Hospital near Tiberias Thursday night. The couple, residents of the embattled town Daraa, arrived with gunshot wounds in their legs. The male is 27 years old and his wife is 23 and in the early stages of pregnancy.

While the two did not have life threatening wounds, the two have been through an immense amount of duress recently: Two months ago, the couple lost their daughter two weeks after she was born. ‘Because of the gunfire and the siege on our town in the Daraa area, we were left with no choice but to deliver the child at home — and the medical condition of my baby deteriorated,’ the woman told Israel Hayom. ‘All our pleading at the [Syrian] army checkpoint to go to the hospital did not help. We went back home and our daughter died there’

Eight days ago, the couple was struck with another tragedy. Their village came under attack, ‘artillery bombardment, gunfire, and planes bombing from above,’ the woman said. ‘In the evening my brother came and took us, my mother and two other wounded people and we tried to flee the village. During our exit from the village we were fired on by the army and my brother was killed before my eyes. We managed to escape back to the village and were treated in a field hospital. But the wounds got worse — until my cousin took us to the border and we got into Israel for treatment,’ the woman said. Her brother, 19, fought with rebels trying to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime.

Currently the couple remains hospitalized, both in the same room. The woman is struggling with being away from her family, but admitted that she did not expect such friendly treatment from her enemy. ‘We were surprised by the treatment and dedicated medical care we got in Israel,’ she said. ‘We hesitated coming to Israel, because we were taught to hate it. We were taught this is a brutal enemy state, but we learned that reality is different. People here have a conscience. Our enemy is in Syria, not in Israel.
