So much for being merciful to one another. That verse of the Qur’an must have been abrogated, too. Division. Dysfunction. Destruction. Where would Islam be without it? …

Qur’an Sura 48:29, “Mohammed is [Allah’s] apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.”

Al Arabiya – “Al-Qaeda group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on Tuesday urged its fighters to ‘crush’ other rebel groups in Syria, in an audio message from the group’s spokesman.

Abu Mohammad al-Adnani called on ISIL fighters in Syria to ‘crush them (the rebels) totally and kill the conspiracy at birth,’ warning opposition fighters that ‘none of you will remain, and we will make of you an example to all those who think of following the same path,’ AFP reported.

ISIL’s threat came hours after a rival al-Qaeda group said it has joined forces with other rebel groups in fighting ISIL.

Al-Nusra Front leader Abu Mohammad al-Golani said in an audio recording that ‘high-level’ fighting erupted between his group and ISIL on Tuesday.

He blamed the fighting on what he said were ‘mistakes’ made by ISIL, such as the arrest of a Nusra commander in Raqqa.

In his message, Golani urged all rebel groups to unite against President Bashar al-Assad regime.

‘This unfortunate situation prompted us to make this initiative to save the ground from loss. This initiative calls for the formation of a legitimate committee from all recognized factions with an independent leadership,’ he said.

Golani also noted that all infighting in the groups must end and an exchange of prisoners should take place, adding that rebels should focus their efforts on fighting Assad’s forces and not fighting each other.

Divisions within al-Qaeda

Divisions within al-Qaeda appeared in November 2013, when al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri appointed al-Nusra Front jihadists to carry the network’s banner in Syria and ordered the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant to disband.

Zawahiri’s remarks confirmed a written order issued in June that has so far gone unheeded.

Zawahiri said that al-Nusra Front was the jihadist group’s only branch in Syria, tasked with reporting ‘to the general command,’ and will no longer operate under the banner of al-Qaeda’s Iraq affiliate.

‘The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is to be abolished, while the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) remains functioning,’ he said.” Read more.

Syria: Al Qaida Kills 50 Prisoners At Aleppo Hospital – “The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights quoted local medical sources as saying that over 30 al Qaida militants died over the past few hours in the north-western region of Idlib in clashes between al Qaida fighters and local rebels. The dead militants are all reportedly non-Syrian members of ISIS. Al Qaida militants have executed overnight 50 Syrian activists they had detained in Aleppo, activists in the northern Syrian city told ANSA on Tuesday in a Skype interview. The prisoners were killed at a former eye hospital in Aleppo, the activists said. The sources said the executions were carried out by members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, an al Qaida-linked militant group in Syria which has been attacked by local insurgents over the past few days.” Read more.

For peaceful purposes. Of course, we shouldn’t be surprised when death quickly follows those who convert to the very religion that is synonymous with death itself …

Two More Souls Lost Forever To The Religion Of Death

By François Ausseill, AFP – “Nicolas Bons, a young convert to Islam from a comfortable middle class French background, has died fighting in Syria barely four months after his half-brother met the same fate, their father said Monday.

In a story that has provoked bewilderment, the mother of 30-year-old Nicolas was informed by text message from the frontline that her son had been ‘martyred’ on December 22 in a suicide truck bombing in the Syrian province of Homs, the father, Gerard Bons, told AFP by phone from his home in French Guiana.

Nicolas’s half-brother Jean-Daniel had died in fighting at the start of August. He was 22 and had been introduced to radical Islam by Nicolas, who had himself announced his conversion to his parents in 2009.

Nicolas’s personal journey mirrors that of many of the increasing number of converts to Islam who have signed up for jihad, or holy war.

Having struggled at school, Nicolas lost his way in his early 20s, developing a cannabis habit and picking up a conviction for petty dealing.

According to his family, all that stopped almost overnight when he found Islam. He soon became a regular visitor to a mosque in his home town of Toulouse and an assiduous reader of the Koran.

When Jean-Daniel, who until then had lived with his father in French Guiana, came to study in Toulouse in 2011, he too soon converted under Nicolas’s influence.

In March of last year the pair set off for Syria, having told their parents they were headed to the beach in Thailand.

A month later, they sent a letter revealing their true destination and in July Nicolas appeared, Kalashnikov and Koran in hand, in an Islamist propoganda video in which he calls on French President Francois Hollande to convert to Islam.

Jean-Daniel also features in the video but only looks on expressionless as his brother talks.

The two men’s father has admitted he has no idea how Nicolas became radicalised.

Toulouse was home to the radical Islamist Mohammed Merah, who killed seven people in and around the city in 2012.” Read more.

It seems to me that they’re not looking for a nuclear bomb (singular) because what they’re really looking for are multiple nukes …

By Adam Kredo, The Washington Free Beacon – “A top Iranian lawmaker and cleric said that the country’s uranium enrichment program could allow it to build a nuclear weapon ‘in two weeks’ in order to ‘put down Israel,’ according to multiple reports in the Farsi language press.

Iranian lawmaker and cleric Muhammad Nabavian said on Friday that Iran would be able to build a nuclear bomb in ‘two weeks’ if it gets ‘access to 270 kilograms of 20 percent [enriched uranium], 10 tons of 5 percent, and 20 thousand centrifuges,’ according to reports on Iran’s Radio Farda and in Fararu.

‘We are not looking for a nuclear bomb, but having a nuclear bomb is necessary to put down Israel,’ Nabavian said, according to an independent translation of his remarks provided to the Washington Free Beacon.

Nabavian went on to claim that President Barack Obama had courted Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in the lead up to nuclear negotiations with the West last year.

Nabavian said Rouhani revealed in a private meeting that the U.S. president reached out to his Iranian counterpart on at least five separate occasions prior to Rouhani’s visit last year to New York City.

Rouhani ultimately refused to meet with Obama at the time despite the private overtures.

Iran’s parliament on Sunday reportedly approved and sent to Rouhani a bill demanding that Tehran enrich uranium up to 60 percent, levels just shy of those needed to fuel a nuclear weapon.” Read more.

The Qur’an has already spoken, now it’s up to all those who truly believe to enforce what it says. If Muslims are lashed repeatedly for failing to pray to the god of Islam, just imagine what will happen to anyone who refuses to worship him …

In Haleb, two men were convicted of failing to take part in the Friday prayers, and were sentenced to 25 lashes each, to be delivered publicly.

The two convicted men were brought to the city square, where they wereflogged on their bare backs. The crowd that had gathered watched the scene quietly.

This is not the first time that the Ahrar al-Sham Islamist organization carried out flogging sentences in public. The Islamic organizations’ religious court has even meted out sentences of capital punishment in the past.” Source – INN.

Flashback: Syria: Rebels Attack Christian Homes, Churches, Many Feared Dead, ‘Convert To Islam Or You Will Be Beheaded’ – “A Maaloula resident said the rebels, many of them sporting beards and shouting [Allahu akbar], attacked Christian homes and churches shortly after moving into the village overnight… Now, Maaloula ‘is a ghost town. Where is President Obama to see what befallen on us?’ asked the man… Another resident, a Christian man, said he saw militants forcing some Christian residents to convert to Islam. ‘I saw the militants grabbing five villagers Wednesday and threatening them (saying): `Either you convert to Islam, or you will be beheaded,’ he said.” Read more.

By Paul Sheehan, SMH – “In France, more than 1000 cars were torched across the country on New Year’s Eve. It has become a tradition. As usual, the French media omitted to say most of the damage is done by young disaffected Muslim men and has become a form of protest.

In Iraq, the government has lost control of the city of Fallujah to the fundamentalist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, giving Islamists open control of a city for the first time since the US-led invasion in 2003. On Christmas Day, car bombs exploded outside three churches, killing 26 people and maiming 38, part of a campaign to remove Iraq’s rapidly decreasing Chaldean Christian population.

In Lebanon, a car bomb exploded in Beirut on Friday, killing or wounding dozens. The blast occurred outside offices of Hezbollah, the Islamic party embroiled in the civil war in Syria and committed to war with Israel.

In Syria, the anti-government uprising remains dominated by Sunni fundamentalists. Opposing them are Shiite fundamentalists deployed by Hezbollah. The civil war has deepened into a Sunni-Shiite schism. More than 100 Australian Muslims have gone to fight on both sides.

In Afghanistan, Islamic repression is increasing while the central government remains corrupt and isolated. It has drawn up a draft penal code in which article 21 calls for lashing or stoning to death for adultery and article 23 specifies the stoning should be in public.

In Egypt, violence continues as the military tightens its suppression of the Muslim Brotherhood. Fire-bombings of Coptic churches by Muslim extremists remain ongoing.

Fox News – “Violence in Iraq soared in 2013 to levels not seen in years, U.N. officials reported this week, stoking concerns that the country is descending into the kind of sectarian bloodshed that gripped the country before the U.S. troop surge.

The United Nations said 7,818 civilians were killed in 2013, a return to 2008 levels. The startling figure follows warnings from lawmakers and analysts that the violence threatens to undo hard-fought gains by the United States.

‘The level of indiscriminate violence in Iraq is unacceptable,’ U.N. Special Representative Nickolay Mladenov said in a statement, calling on the Iraqi government to curb ‘this infernal circle.’

U.S. troops withdrew from Iraq at the end of 2011. In the years immediately before and after that withdrawal, the level of violence remained relatively steady — and by Iraq standards, relatively low. The troop surge and other factors were credited with curbing the bloodshed from its 2004-2007 highs.

But the 2013 death toll is roughly double what it had been in recent years.

A number of factors are at play, and some are urging the Obama administration to get more involved — though there is little appetite to send U.S. troops back into the country.

The violence in Iraq began to surge in April, after the Shiite-led government staged a deadly crackdown on a Sunni protest camp.

Iraq’s Al Qaeda branch has fed on Sunni discontent and on the civil war in neighboring Syria, in which mostly Sunni rebels fight a government whose base is a Shiite offshoot sect. It has targeted civilians, particularly in Shiite areas of Baghdad, with waves of coordinated car bombings and other deadly attacks.” Read more.

2013 Was The Bloodiest Year Yet For Syria With More Than 73,000 Deaths – “Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights , based in Britain, issued its data stating that in the past year , from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2013 , there were more than 73 455 dead, including 22 436 civilians. The Observatory has also updated the figures on deaths throughout the war period : 130 thousand , mostly soldiers and rebel fighters on both sides. The group criticizes the international community because ‘it is not in taking serious action to stop the massacres that have been committed and continue to be committed.'” Read more.
