By Raymond Ibrahim, Gatestone Institute – “The most historic and emblematic sign of Muslim persecution of Christians returned in February: Christians in Raqqa, Syria, under the occupation of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria [ISIS], which has since consolidated more territory, were given the three classic choices of Islam: 1) convert to Islam or 2) pay jizya (tribute or extortion money, as in the Koran 9:29) and uphold all the conditions stipulated in the medieval Conditions of Omar — which include heavy restrictions on Christian worship — or 3) the sword.

According to the BBC, ISIS issued a directive:

citing the Islamic concept of “dhimma”, [which] requires Christians in the city to pay tax of around half an ounce (14g) of pure gold in exchange for their safety. It says Christians must not make renovations to churches, display crosses or other religious symbols outside churches, ring church bells or pray in public. Christians must not carry arms, and must follow other rules imposed by ISIS (also known as ISIL) on their daily lives. The statement said the group had met Christian representatives and offered them three choices—they could convert to Islam, accept ISIS’ conditions, or reject their control and risk being killed. “If they reject, they are subject to being legitimate targets, and nothing will remain between them and ISIS other than the sword,” the statement said.

A Pew study confirmed that Christians are ‘the most persecuted religious group in the world‘ and that their persecution is occurring primarily throughout the Islamic world. In the category of ‘Countries with Very High Government Restrictions on Religion,’ Pew lists 24 countries — 20 of which are Islamic and precisely where the overwhelming majority of ‘the world’s’ Christians are actually being persecuted.

February’s roundup of Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed by theme and country in alphabetical order, not necessarily according to severity.

Attacks on Christian Churches

Nigeria: Among other church-related atrocities, the Islamic terror group Boko Haram attacked a church during Sunday services in the Muslim majority northeast of the nation. According to Christian Today, ‘They locked the doors before the end of the service and shot at the congregation, slitting the throats of those who tried to escape. They also detonated bombs before going on a four hour rampage, burning houses and taking hostages from the village.’

Sudan: ‘In what Sudanese Christians believe is part of a campaign by Islamist President Omar al-Bashir to rid the country of Christianity,’ reported the Morning Star News, ‘bulldozers accompanied by local police and personnel from the National Intelligence and Security Services destroyed the Sudanese Church of Christ building in the Ombada area of Omdurman, across the River Nile from Khartoum.’ According to a local Christian: ‘The government has confiscated the land where the church was built — please pray for the church to get a place for worship. We had not any prior indication from the officials that the church would be destroyed; they have not even warned us.’ The only reason officials gave for demolishing the 300-member church was that it was located in a ‘Muslim area’ and so ‘not wanted there,’ reported one church member. The police officer in charge of demolition reportedly said: ‘We have orders from above to demolish this church building. We do not want any church in this area.’

By Azam Ahmed, New York Times – “In a dank basement on the outskirts of Kabul, Josef read his worn blue Bible by the light of a propane lantern, as he had done for weeks since he fled from his family in Pakistan.

His few worldly possessions sat nearby in the 10-by-10-foot room of stone and crumbling brown earth. He keeps a wooden cross with a passage from the Sermon on the Mount written on it, a carton of Esse cigarettes, and a thin plastic folder containing records of his conversion to Christianity.

The documents are the reason he is hiding for his life. On paper, Afghan law protects freedom of religion, but the reality here and in some other Muslim countries is that renouncing Islam is a capital offense.

Josef’s brother-in-law Ibrahim arrived in Kabul recently, leaving behind his family and business in Pakistan, to hunt down the apostate and kill him. Reached by telephone, Ibrahim, who uses only one name, offered a reporter for The New York Times $20,000 to tell him where Josef was hiding.

‘If I find him, once we are done with him, I will kill his son as well, because his son is a bastard,’ Ibrahim said, referring to Josef’s 3-year-old child. ‘He is not from a Muslim father.’

For Josef, 32, who asked to be identified only by his Christian name to protect his wife and young child, the path to Christianity was only one segment on a much longer journey, a year of wandering that took him through Turkey, Greece, Italy and Germany, seeking refuge from Afghanistan’s violence.

But at each stop he found misfortune. He was detained in Greece and deported from Germany, and he lived on the streets in Italy before he truly understood that there would be no happy ending in Europe, where his application for asylum has gone nowhere. He voluntarily left Italy for Pakistan to be with his wife and son, but that is no longer an option.

Neither is reverting to Islam. ‘I inherited my faith, but I saw so many things that made me discard my religious beliefs,’ Josef said. ‘Even if I get killed, I won’t convert back.’

In official eyes here, there are no Afghan Christians. The few Afghans who practice the faith do so in private for fear of persecution, attending one of a handful of underground churches that are believed to be operating in the country.” Read more.

Report: ISIS Terrorists Claim To Have Access To Nuclear Weapons, Will Use Them Against Israel

By F. Michael Maloof, WND – “The well-organized army of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, claims it has access to nuclear weapons and a will to use them to ‘liberate’ Palestine from Israel as part of its ‘Islamic Spring,’ according to a WND source in the region.

Franklin Lamb, an international lawyer based in Beirut and Damascus, said the move is part of the ISIS aim of creating a caliphate under strict Islamic law, stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to Iraq.

Lamb, who has access to ISIS fighters and sympathizers, said ISIS has been working with a ‘new specialized’ unit organized at the beginning of 2013 to focus ‘exclusively on destroying the Zionist regime occupying Palestine.’

Lamb added that the ISIS ‘Al-Quds Unit’ is working to broaden its influence in more than 60 Palestinian camps and gatherings from Gaza, across ‘Occupied Palestine,’ or Israel, to Jordan and from Lebanon up to the north of Syria ‘seeking to enlist support as it prepares to liberate Palestine.’

ISIS is also know as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham. ‘Sham,’ or ‘Greater Syria,’ refers to Cyprus, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and southern Turkey.

ISIS also is known as DAASH, the Arabic acronym for al-Dawlah al-Islamiyah fi al-Iraq wa-al Sham.

The Sunni militant group, which has taken over much of the Sunni region of Iraq, could leave the Shia-dominated region of the country and head toward Jordan and Turkey.

Lamb said that in Iraq alone, some 6 million Iraqi Sunnis recently have become supportive of the ISIS lightning strikes in the Sunni portion of the country.” Read more.

Texas: Apartment Complex Manager Calls New Tenant’s US Flag A “Threat To The Muslim Community”

There must have been a sizable number of Muslims living in the apartment complex for the manager to claim that the American flag was a “threat” to the Muslims living there. Sounds like a “no-go zone” in the making if you ask me, one where the oppressive Black Flag of Al-Qaeda would have likely been embraced in the spirit of “multiculturalism” over anything else that still stood for religious freedom and the right to call Mohammed the false prophet that he was. The fact of the matter is that it is the Muslim community itself with its “divine” Sharia Laws that threatens the fabric of the American flag and the freedoms for which it stands, not the other way around. And as for any citizen in America who would be “offended” by the sight of the American flag? They shouldn’t even be a citizen at all …

Stepping onto Duy Tran’s balcony in Webster, one thing is clear: ‘It means a lot to me,’ he said.

He’s talking about his American flag that he proudly put up when he moved in just a few days ago. But then an apartment manager at the Lodge on El Dorado told him he had to take it down.

‘What really stunned me is that she said it’s a threat towards the Muslim community,’ said Tran. ‘I’m not a threat toward anybody.’

We tried to ask a manager if that’s exactly what was said, but she just handed us a statement, refused to answer any questions, and called an officer to escort us off the property, before we could press any further:

“While the Lodge on El Dorado admires our resident’s patriotism, we must enforce our property rules and guidelines. Such guidelines maintain the aesthetics of our apartment community and provide for the safety of all residents. The apartment community already proudly displays our country’s flag in a safe and appropriate manner at the entrances to our community.”

But we saw other patriotic symbols hanging from other balconies in the complex, and Tran doesn’t plan to budge.

‘I’m gonna leave my flag there, as an American, until she shows me proof that I don’t have the right to leave my flag there,’ said Tran.

To Tran it’s about so much more than stars and stripes.

‘I have friends that died for this country,’ he said.

So he says this fight is the least he can do.

We have not heard of any residents complaining about any flags at the complex, or any of the patriotic items we saw. In fact, we spoke to several neighbors who say they want Tran’s flag to stay.” Source – KHOU News.

Second Wave: Doctors Without Borders Official Warns Ebola Virus Is Now “Totally Out Of Control” In West Africa

Breitbart – “The Ebola outbreak ravaging West Africa is ‘totally out of control,’ according to a senior official for Doctors Without Borders, who says the medical group is stretched to the limit in its capacity to respond.

International organizations and the governments involved need to send in more health experts and to increase the public education messages about how to stop the spread of the disease, Bart Janssens, the director of operations for the group in Brussels, told The Associated Press on Friday.

Ebola has already been linked to more than 330 deaths in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, according to the latest numbers from the World Health Organization.

‘The reality is clear that the epidemic is now in a second wave,’ Janssens said. ‘And, for me, it is totally out of control.’

The outbreak, which began in Guinea either late last year or early this year, had appeared to slow before picking up pace again in recent weeks, including spreading to the Liberian capital for the first time.

‘I’m absolutely convinced that this epidemic is far from over and will continue to kill a considerable amount of people, so this will definitely end up the biggest ever,’ he said.

The multiple locations of the outbreak and its movement across borders make it one of the ‘most challenging Ebola outbreaks ever,’ Fadela Chaib, a spokeswoman for the World Health Organization, said earlier in the week.

The outbreak shows no sign of abating and that governments and international organizations were ‘far from winning this battle,’ Unni Krishnan, head of disaster preparedness and response for Plan International, said Friday.

But Janssens’ description of the Ebola outbreak was even more alarming, and he warned that the governments affected had not recognized the gravity of the situation. He criticized the World Health Organization for not doing enough to prod leaders and said that it needs to bring in more experts to do the vital work of tracing all of the people who have been in contact with the sick.

‘There needs to be a real political commitment that this is a very big emergency,’ he said. ‘Otherwise, it will continue to spread, and for sure it will spread to more countries.'” Read more.

The brutality of this mayhem was best captured in a deeply disturbing video released on the Internet by jihadis fighting for the ‘Islamic State of Iraq and Syria’ (ISIS).

It shows a bearded, young ISIS fighter in full battle gear posing for the camera with a decapitated head in his hand.

On cue from the cameraman, the jihadi fighter lifts the head, turns towards it and says, ‘Hello, my name is John.’

Both men then break into laughter, after which the cameraman derisively remarks, ‘Why doesn’t John look like he died of natural causes?’

The decapitated head is then thrown to the ground as another ISIS man can be heard off camera joking: ‘This guy died of natural causes by a knife … It cut his throat’, to which the cameraman guffaws, ‘Natural causes — the mujahedeen … Natural cause for an apostate,’ before chanting the Islamic battle cry, ‘Allah O Akbar.’

This desecration of a dead body is not an isolated incident.

Just last year the Taliban were filmed playing football with the decapitated heads of beheaded prisoners — fellow Muslims.

And while much of the Islamic community is in a state of denial, blinded to the atrocities being committed by their co-religionists across the globe, the rest of the world watches in shock.

In Kenya and Nigeria Islamists are targeting Christians while in Iraq and Pakistan they are killing Shia Muslims, who Saudi-funded clerics have designated as ‘Kaffirs’’, non-believers in Islamic disguise whose founders, they falsely claim, were Jews.

The apologists among us claim these atrocities are not part of the Islamic rules of war, but that does not withstand scrutiny.

The fact is, no less a person than the grandson of Prophet Muhammad was beheaded in battle by fellow Muslims on Oct. 10, 680. His decapitated head was paraded in the streets of Damascus.

AINA – “Sources in Tikrit and Mosul have told AINA that ISIS has cut off water and electricity to some parts of the cities. The villages surrounding Mosul have also lost their water service, which was provided by the water purification plant in Mosul. In the Assyrian villages of Bartella and Qaraqosh, residents are now buying water at 7,000 Iraqi Dinars per cubic meter ($6.25). Village leaders are calling for relief, as the residents cannot afford to purchase water at these rates.

The Arabic language website Alghadeer is reporting that ISIS has destroyed all churches in Mosul. AINA has not independently confirmed this.

In Tikrit internet service is sporadic, less than one our per day, and limited to email and Google. There is no presence of the Iraqi government.

In the Assyrian city of Dohuk there is fear among the residents and anxiety about the “political map” — as one resident put it. The Assyrians of Dohuk do not want to live under ISIS rule.

According to an Assyrian living in Baghdad, Baghdad is calm at the moment. ISIS is fighting 40 miles north of the city, not closer as reported by media sources. The city’s population, which is 90% Shiite, is armed and ready to fight ISIS.

The source said it is unlikely that ISIS would attack Baghdad, as they are greatly outnumbered, but there are many ISIS sleeper cells in Baghdad which may strike and wreak havoc.” Source – AINA.

By Mike Brooke, East London Advertiser – “Two men from east London have been jailed for uploading terrorist material on the worldwide web and distributing material encouraging Muslims to ‘die for Allah’.

Shah Jalal Hussain, 31, and Ibrahim Hassan, 28, were both sentenced at the Old Bailey to three years on Friday after admitting 12 charges between them.

Jalal Hussain was arrested in Whitechapel last June, under the 2006 Terrorism Act, for disseminating terrorist publications.

It followed a raid in east London a month earlier by the Met’s SO15 Counter Terrorism Command when Ibrahim Hassan was arrested in Walthamstow for commissioning, preparing or instigating acts of terrorism.

Searches were carried out at two addresses where evidence was found on a computer connecting him to the uploading. Jalal Hussain was linked to the website through his pseudonym.

‘These men posted material on the internet which clearly had the potential to incite terrorism and put public at risk,’ Pol Cmdr Duncan Ball from the Counter Terrorism Command said after Friday’s sentence. ‘We have the commitment and ability to tackle those who support and encourage terrorism by whatever means they use.’

The two uploaded videos to a website they operated and also recorded and distributed lectures in terrorism advocating violence.

One video called for Muslims to get involved in violent jihad. Another asserted that Muslims must support jihad physically and financially.

A recording of a lecture was also discovered where Jalal Hussain gave 20 ways in which ‘a Muslim can die for Allah and be assured of a place in paradise’.

Both men pleaded guilty on March 24 to six charges each of disseminating terrorist publications and encouraging terrorism.” Source – East London Advertiser.

Of course this is mild compared to the murders of the Fogel children in 2011; Yoav, 11, Elad, 4, and three-month-old Hadas, stabbed to death while sleeping. The baby was reportedly decapitated by her Palestinian attackers, who also butchered her parents to death.

There are too many similar examples to list them all, but one which comes to mind is that of former Lebanese member of the Palestine Liberation Front, Samir al-Kuntar, who killed a man and his 4 year-old daughter by bashing her skull against a rock with the butt of his rifle in 1979. Though convicted of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping and sentenced to five life sentences plus 47 years imprisonment, he was one of the prisoners released in 2008 along with four other Lebanese inmates in exchange for the bodies of two Israeli soldiers, a story which is becoming all too familiar.

Kuntar, like other Muslim terrorists, is revered as a hero and has received a Syrian medal from Bashar al-Assad and was honored in 2009, by then Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

There were child killers released in the Gilad Shalit exchange as well as in these latest batches of terrorists freed in an effort for ‘peace.’ Each group released received a hero’s welcome, no matter how horrific their crimes.

Though what can we expect when there is a total disregard for life, and Muslims sacrifice their own children in order to murder Jews? The News – “THE leader of the city council has moved to reassure people after it emerged a jihadi from Portsmouth posted he would go on a ‘killing spree’ if he returned from Syria.

The comments from Councillor Donna Jones come after a man fighting with Al-Qaeda linked group Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant in Syria wrote a message on Twitter.

The man, using the name Abu Abdullah, seemed to threaten to kill non-Muslims.

He wrote: ‘Yeah mate, go back to Britain. You got to be joking. I’ll probably end up going on a killing spree with all the kuffar around me.’

Speaking to The News Cllr Jones said: ‘The Muslim community here in Portsmouth are very upset what’s happened with these young men going over to Syria.

‘We must remember it’s a very small number, when we take into consideration the other British men who have gone. It’s concerning when any British citizen behaves in such a way.’

As reported, a group of men from the city left for war-torn Syria via Turkey to fight with the Islamist rebel group ISIS.

Just yesterday the Home Office banned ISIS, with Immigration and Security Minister James Brokenshire saying the move sends a ‘strong message’ that terrorism is not tolerated.

In a statement he said: ‘We condemn all acts of terrorism committed in Syria, where the conflict poses a growing threat to UK, regional and international peace and security.

‘Proscription is a useful weapon in the armoury at the disposal of the Government, police and security service to disrupt terrorist activity and protect the UK.’

It comes as it emerged 19-year-old, of Portsmouth, Muhammad Hassan also posted a message indicating his support for violence against non-Muslims outside of Syria.

He wrote on Twitter: ‘America wants to drone Dawlah? Inshallah, you will receive many more 9/11s.’” Read more.
