Update: This time the students appeared to be mostly Muslim. But as is often the case, devout Muslims will kill less devout Muslims simply because they didn’t consider them committed enough to the cause of “Allah” …

The Guardian – “Suspected Islamic extremists have gunned down dozens of students as they slept in their dormitories during a night-time attack on an agricultural college in north-east Nigeria, the school’s provost said.

As many as 50 students may have been killed in the assault that began at about 1am local time on Sunday, said Molima Idi Mato, provost of the Yobe State College of Agriculture in Gujba.

‘They attacked our students while they were sleeping, they opened fire at them,’ he said, but could not give an exact death toll as security forces still were recovering bodies from the college.

The Nigerian military had collected 42 bodies and transported 18 injured students to Damaturu specialist hospital, according to a military intelligence official.

The school’s other 1,000 students fled the college, about 25 miles (40km) north of Damaturu town, where there have been similar attacks on schools as part of a continuing Islamist uprising, said Mato.

He said there were no security forces stationed at the college despite government assurances that they would be deployed. The state education chief, Mohammed Lamin, held a news conference two weeks ago in which he urged all schools to reopen and promised protection from soldiers and police.

Most schools in the area closed after militants on 6 July killed 29 pupils and a teacher, burning some alive in their hostels, at Mamudo, outside Damaturu.” Read more.

Ohio: Fireball Reportedly Hits Home In Northern Adams County, Two Residents Killed By Fire

Examiner – “Ohioans were dazzled by a bright flash of blue light in the night sky on September 27, 2013, in southern Ohio around 11:30 p.m., eastern standard time. Could it have been a meteorite or a satellite predicted to crash to earth on Friday?

A fireball reportedly hit near a home in northern Adams County, Ohio, a few miles outside the city of Peebles causing a house fire. Those reports are unconfirmed. The six alarm fire left fireman battling the blaze into the early hours of the morning. It is unknown at this time if the residents made it out safely.

A neighbor said the meteor crossed over the city and hit near the Locust Grove Cemetery just four miles from the Great Serpent Effigy Mound…

Update: As of the morning of September 28, 2013, a home outside of Peebles, Ohio, in the Locust Grove area of Adams County burned to the ground last night, the two residents of the home, an elderly couple, Jane and Lyle Lambert, died as a result of smoke inhalation. The fire is believed to be caused from the meteor or pieces of the heated meteor that hit the home.” Read more.

‘Surprising’: Reports Of Fireball Flood In From Multiple States, September Sees Record Number Of Sightings

Earth Sky – “The American Meteor Society (AMS) has reported at least 373 reports of another bright fireball – a very bright meteor, likely a small chunk of natural incoming space debris – over the U.S. last night (September 27, 2013). These reports followed a similar event over approximately the same area the day before (September 26). The AMS called the coincidence of two bright fireballs, or bright meteors, spotted over approximately the same region on consecutive days ‘surprising.’ Witnesses from Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin and West Virginia reported a bright light moving across the night sky on September 27 at around 11:33 p.m. local time, according to the AMS.

Fireball might sound ominous, but it is just the word astronomers use to mean bright meteor. As seen from a whole-Earth perspective, fireballs are seen often. It’s unusual to have two appear on consecutive nights over the same region, however.

September 2013 has been a busy month for sightings of bright meteors, according to the AMS. Last night’s event marks the 14th fireball sighting with at least 25 witnesses in September, the most ever since the AMS started recording sightings online, they say.” Read more.

7 Midwest States See Fireball Streak Across Sky – “Scientists have said that the meteor is similar to the one that was reported to have streaked across the sky over Russia earlier this year. One eye witness from Fort Worth described the meteor as ‘bright blue green-like lightning with what appeared to be a fire-like tail glowing red orange.’ The eye witness added that the light from the meteor was ‘extremely close and lit up neighboring rooftops.’ Another eye witness described: ‘After it exploded, the meteor got brighter and didn’t burn out until it was close to the horizon.'” Read more.

Ohio: Fireball Lights Up Sky So Bright NASA’s Detection Software Thought It Was Lightning

By Ben Sutherly, The Columbus Dispatch – “The brilliant streak seen on Friday night in the skies over central Ohio was a piece of an asteroid or comet that was 2 to 3 feet across and hit the atmosphere at 113,000 mph, a NASA official said yesterday.

The bright flash of light at 11:33 p.m. prompted some people to call Columbus police to ask what it was while officers chatted about the event over their radios.

‘The initial trajectory suggests it passed over Columbus, Ohio, moving slightly north of west,’ Bill Cooke of NASA’s Meteoroid Environments Office told The Dispatch in an email. Cooke said there were some reports of sounds similar to sonic booms, which suggests some of the fireball’s fragments made it to fairly low altitudes.

NASA’s meteor cameras in Ohio and Pennsylvania first detected it at 67 miles up, and it began breaking apart 41 miles above the earth. Cooke said it’s not yet certain, but it’s unlikely that the fireball produced meteorites on the ground given the ‘tremendous’ speed at which it was moving.

‘The fireball was so bright our meteor-detection software ‘went home to momma’ and thought it was seeing lightning,’ Cooke wrote. ‘The fireball lit up the sky, so the detection software thought it was lightning and did not flag it as a meteor/fireball.’

According to the American Meteor Society’s website, Ohio was ground zero for the sighting. The society’s fireball coordinator, Robert Lunsford, said the fireball already had generated 900 reports to the society’s website, making it the third-most reported meteor event since the group began tracking them in 2005.

‘It seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime thing,’ said Sandi Poyer of Pickerington. ‘We camp out a lot. We’ve just never seen anything like that.'” Read more.

Syria: Maaloula Christians Say Local Muslims Took Part In Rebel Attack Against Village

Renowned scholar Ibn Kathir states that ‘believers [Muslims] are allowed to show friendship outwardly [toward non-Muslims], but never inwardly.’ This means that your Muslim friends are not whole-heartedly your friends but just deceiving you into believing that they are your friends.” Lies and deceptions. Perceived as a betrayal of the long-lasting trust that existed between Christians and Muslims in Maaloula, where Muslims make up about 30 per cent of the village population.

The presence of young Muslim fighters from the village among Syrian rebels appalled the Christian population. However, it is a sign of the growing ambiguity of Syria’s armed rebellion.

These facts give that battles that occurred in Maaloula from 3 to 7 September another perspective. Speaking for the first time anonymously, survivors from Maaloula described how elements from the Syrian Liberation Army and the al-Nusra Front coordinated their attack in an attempt to take control of the town.

The explosion of a car driven by a suicide bomber at an army checkpoint at the village entrance was the signal for the attack. Almost immediately, armed rebel groups sprung out from within Maaloula, smashing doors to gain entrance into Christian homes.

With dramatic details, witnesses describe the climate of terror that prevailed, the summary execution on Saturday of three men who, after a failed attempt by the Syrian army to retake Maaloula, refused to recant their faith as well as the kidnapping of six others, whose fate remains unknown to this day.

One of the survivors reports that his house was invaded almost immediately after the car’s explosion at an army checkpoint. Rebels came into the house and moved around as if they were familiar with the place.

After escaping with her husband and their daughter in the rearmost room of their home, she was joined there by attackers who claimed to have smashed the statue of the Virgin Mary at the entrance of the house.

A stifled sob in her throat, she remembers how she wished to die rather than see daughter raped before her own eyes. Fortunately, her fears were not realised.  Nevertheless, she does remember that her husband was forced to recant his Christian faith, the barrel of an assault rifle at his head.” Read more.

By Zahid Gishkori, The Express Tribune – “Minister for States and Frontier Region (SAFRON) Lt General (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch informed the lawmakers on Friday that death toll had crossed 400 in Awaran district of Balochistan as insurgents continue to obstruct relief efforts in the quake-stricken zone.

Qadir, who rushed to Balochistan on the instruction of the Prime Minister soon after the calamity hit six districts of the province, said more than 600 people were injured when the 7.7-magnitude quake pounded the region.

‘Nobody is ready to see Balochistan’s wounds,’ he observed while criticising the Sindh government for its sluggish response to help out Balochistan.

The calamity has left over a hundred thousand people homeless in some 11 villages razed to the ground, he informed the House.

Three battalions of Pakistan Army have already reached the quake zone where Frontier Constabulary started relief operation, the minister told the lawmakers.

The minister who had rushed to Awaran revealed, ‘We heard firing while landing in one of the areas. We thought our convoy may be the target, but it could not be established,’ Baloch told the house.

Mashkay, the epicentre of quake, is considered to be stronghold of the militant group—Allah Nazar. But the minister emphasised that the military is only conducting relief operation rather than an operation against insurgents. ‘Locals demand relief through Army only,’ he said.

The FC and army will provide security to rescue teams, he also appealed to national and international agencies to come up for assistance of quake survivors.” Read more.

‘Running For Their Lives’: At Least 27 Massacred After Islamists Attack Villages In Northern Nigeria

By Ola’ Audu, allAfrica – “At least 27 persons were killed in two separate attacks carried out by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in the border towns of Borno State, government officials and security sources said.

The Chairman of Gamboru-Ngala Local Government Area, Modu-Gana Sheriiff, told journalists that the 27 persons died when gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists attacked Fulatari and Kanumburi wards of the local government.

He said the attacks occurred on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

‘The first attack occurred about eleven o’clock in the evening on Wednesday while the second was carried out last Thursday at about ten o’clock in the evening,’ Mr. Sheriff said.

‘In the first attack, six people were killed and four others sustained injuries in Fulatari. While 21 people lost their lives in the second attack including the Village Head of Gamboru Lawan Ali Shettima, and two others sustaining bullet injuries and are now receiving treatment’.

The Council Chairman spoke to journalists after condoling some families of those killed by the insurgents.

The council chairman donated N100, 000 and a bag of rice to each of the families of the deceased.

He also donated N500, 000 to members of the youth vigilante whose members were also among those killed.

The military spokesman in Borno, Sagir Musa, could not be reached for comments, but a security source, who wouldn’t want to be named as he is not authorized to speak to the press, confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES.

Meanwhile, farmers in the rocky valleys of Gwoza hills in the border area of Borno are fleeing their abode following series of threats from Boko Haram terrorists who are currently hiding in the area.

A local government official, who doesn’t want to be named for security reasons, said ‘our people are running for their lives from their settlements in Fadagu and Izge-Bita settlements because the Boko Haram who are still hiding on top of the rocky hills are warning of an impending attacks on them.’ Read more.

Panic: New Massive Earthquake Rocks Southwest Pakistan, Multiple Deaths Reported

Associated Press – “A major earthquake rocked Pakistan’s southwest Saturday, sending people running into the street in panic just days after another quake in the same region killed 359 people, officials said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said on its website that a 6.8 magnitude quake was felt in Pakistan’s southwestern Baluchistan province.

The Pakistani Meteorological Department measured the earthquake at 7.2 magnitude. The department said its epicenter was located about 90 miles west of the town of Khuzdar.

There were no immediate reports of casualties, said Abdur Rasheed, the deputy commissioner of Awaran district where both quakes were centered.

There may have been little left to damage after Tuesday’s disaster. Few of the mud and homemade brick houses in the area survived the 7.7 magnitude quake that leveled houses and buried people in the rubble across the district of Awaran.

Since then tens of thousands of people have been sleeping under the open sky or tents. Rasheed said they had received reports that some homes damaged but still standing after Tuesday’s quake had collapsed Saturday.

He said they are trying to get information whether people were living in some of the partially damaged homes.

‘Today’s earthquake damaged the already damaged buildings and homes,’ he said.” Read more.

CAIR Executive Director Equates Critics Of Islam With Genocidal Terrorists

CAIR’s Executive Director, Nihad Awad, claims that the “prophet” Mohammed’s religion teaches that “terror must always be condemned and rejected.” The truth of the matter, however, is that Islam teaches Muslims to lie to non-Muslims in a continuous effort to protect and promote their “sacred” religion. Thus, according to Mr. Awad, “Islamophobes” such as myself are just like terrorists. But, then again, maybe he’s right. Truth is, after all, absolutely terrifying to those who bathe themselves in lies …

Numerous reports indicate that Al-Shabaab gunmen separated Muslims from the rest, allowing the Muslims to go free and live, before slaughtering everyone else in their path.

It would be simple to acknowledge the terrorists’ religious motivation, recognize that radical Islam is a challenge for Muslims to confront, and perhaps offer specific theological counter-arguments. Sunday evening, CAIR Executive Director Awad took a step in that direction, writing ‘The killing of civilians in Kenya and describing them as ‘infidels’ as well as the attack on the church in Pakistan is a brutal assault on souls which God has forbidden and is a crime against our sacred religion.’

But minutes later, Awad turned logic on its head, comparing the al-Shabaab terrorists with ‘Islamophobes,’ or those whose views CAIR doesn’t like.

Matt Lauer and NBC News made headlines when they declared there was a civil war in Iraq in 2006, putting them at odds with the narrative coming from the Bush White House.

Islamists are persecuting and murdering Christians all over the world. Where in the world are Matt Lauer and NBC News? Do they not want to be at odds with the narrative coming from the current occupants of the White House, which downplays the atrocities being perpetrated by Muslims against Christians? Or to be at odds with Muslim groups like CAIR, which might accuse NBC of some kind of bias?

It is not an accident, the persecution and mass murder of Christians by Muslims. It is not episodic. It is by design. It is part of a master plan to destroy any competing narrative about God. To bully, threaten, and intimidate Christians into submission, or mass evacuation.

And it is not an accident that the media aren’t covering this very real war. If this were Christians murdering Muslims, blowing up mosques, and driving Muslims by the millions from their homes, we’d never stop hearing about that war.

My goodness, the media didn’t mind covering the fake war on women that Democrats accused Republicans of waging, while the very real war on women being waged in Islamic countries marched on unreported.

The media haven’t ignored the stories of Muslim violence against Christians altogether, to be fair. But they do treat the incidents as tragic isolated events perpetrated by a few nuts. They refuse to frame the mass murder and mass persecution as what they are: a war.

Don’t ask me if I’m exaggerating the claim. Ask the victims. Ask the Christians living in places that are predominantly Muslim. Ask the Christians living in refugee camps, the Christians running for their lives in too many parts of the world.

And ask the millions of American Christians who wonder why this story isn’t being framed as a war.

But just because the media aren’t covering the war, that doesn’t mean it’s not happening. It’s actually spreading to more countries and continents as Islamists become more emboldened.

Jihadist Rebels Burning Church Statues And Crosses In Northern Syria

AFP – “Jihadist fighters linked to Al-Qaeda set fire to statues and crosses inside churches in northern Syria on Thursday and destroyed a cross on a church clock tower, a watchdog said.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) fighters entered the Greek Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation in the northern city of Raqa and torched the religious furnishings inside, the Syria Observatory for Human Rights said.

They did the same at the Armenian Catholic Church of the Martyrs, and also destroyed a cross atop its clock tower, replacing it with the ISIL flag, the Observatory said.

Most of Raqa, located on the banks of the Euphrates River and capital of the province of the same name, fell to anti-regime fighters in March.

Where the ISIL dominates in the city, it imposes a strict version of sharia (Islamic law) on the populace.

The London-based Observatory denounced these attacks ‘against the freedom of religion, which are an assault on the Syrian revolution.’

Not only have there been attacks on Christian places of worship in Syria, a predominantly Sunni Muslim country wracked by more than two years of civil war, but also on Shiite Muslim mosques.

Additionally, Christians clerics have been kidnapped, and some brutally murdered, by jihadists.

In January, the Middle East director of Human Rights Watch, Sarah Leah Whitson, said: ‘The destruction of religious sites is furthering sectarian fears and compounding the tragedies of the country.

‘Syria will lose its rich cultural and religious diversity …'” Read more.
