AsiaNews – “The public execution of Muhammad al-Qatta, a young coffee seller brutally assassinated on Sunday by a group of jihadists in Aleppo for insulting Muhammad, ‘is a terrible event that shocked the entire population of the city, Muslims and Christians, who do not want an Islamic state in Syria,’ Mgr Jean Clement Jeanbart, Melkite Archbishop of Aleppo, told AsiaNews. For the prelate, such an act is yet another example of the brutality of foreign militants fighting in Syria.

‘Christians,’ he explained, ‘are terrified by these militias and fear that in the event of their victory they would no longer be able to practice their religion and that they would be forced to leave the country.’ Sending more weapons to the country would only lead to more such cases of violence, he added.

Ethiopia: Christian Man Writing ‘Jesus Is Lord’ On Notebook Arrested For ‘Crimes Against Islam’

ICC – “International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that two Christian men were arrested in Ethiopia by local police influenced by radical Muslims. In separate incidents, these men were detained by local police for what authorities are calling ‘crimes against Islam,’ even though no such crime exists in Ethiopia’s penal code.

In late March, Alemlayehu Legese was arrested by local police in Dodola, a city located 180 miles south of Addis Ababa, after admitting to owning literature that ‘discussed the history of Islam from a Christian perspective.’ Legese, a student at Dodola Mekane Yesus Bible School, dropped off the literature at a copy shop where a Muslim employee who felt Christians should not be allowed to read about the history of Islam contacted police. ‘The police officers treated this incident as if it were a terrorist attack,’ an ICC representative in Ethiopia said.

Fearful the investigation could lead to widespread violence, the local church advised Legese to report to the police and admit to owning the literature. Upon reporting to the police, Legese was arrested and imprisoned. When ICC asked why Legese was being imprisoned without being formally charged, the local police commander said they were detaining Legese to ‘cool down the anger of local Muslims.’ It has been over two months since Legese was imprisoned, formal charges are yet to be laid against him.

On May 25, Tamirat Woldegiorgis, a Christian living in Moyale Town, located on Ethiopia’s border with Kenya, was arrested by local police. Many are concerned this arrest is connected to a previous arbitrary detention Woldegiorgis served from 2010-2012, when he spent 22 months in prison because local police accused him of ‘crimes against Islam.’

Local radicals claimed that Woldegiorgis wrote ‘Jesus is Lord’ on the notebook of a student attending a local madrassa. Woldegiorgis was released on May 2, 2012 when human rights organizations, including ICC, became involved in the case. Woldegiorgis was again released on June 5, but was required to pay a bail of $5,319 for an unspecified criminal charge and will still face court hearings on June 10.” Read more.

By Sherif Tarek, Ahram Online – “A Germany-based Egyptian author has requested protection from Egyptian authorities after ultra-conservative Islamists in Egypt declared him an “apostate” and launched an online campaign calling for his death.

Hamed Abdel-Samad, a researcher in political and Islamic studies, was invited by Egypt’s so-called ‘Secularist Movement’ to speak at a 4 June forum devoted to ‘Islamic fascism.’ Abdel-Samad’s speech, however, appears to have put him in hot water – and may even have put his life in jeopardy.

At the forum, Abdel-Samad asserted that ‘Islamic fascism’ could trace its origins to ‘the return of the Muslims to Mecca [some 1500 years ago], when they… destroyed all the pagan idols.’

Before this, he added, ‘they had accepted religious pluralism in Medina… At this time, they had said, ‘You have your religion and we have ours’.’

In response to the assertions, Assem Abdel-Maged, a leading member of Egypt’s ultra-conservative Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya, and Mahmoud Shabaan, Arabic rhetoric professor at Al-Azhar University (known for his strong stance against secularism), declared Abdel-Samad an ‘apostate.’

On Egypt’s religious Hafez television channel, Shabaan accused Abdel-Samad of having been an ‘apostate’ even before his recent statements. ‘He has been flagrantly questioning Islam and thinks it is a bad religion, a fascist religion… His punishment should be death,’ Shabaan declared.

‘Even if he repents for what he said, he must be killed,’ Shabaan added. ‘His repentance might help him with God [in the afterlife], but he must be killed.’

Speaking to Al-Ahram’s Arabic-language news website, Abdel-Samad – the author of several books deemed blasphemous by conservative Islamists – called on Egypt’s prosecutor-general to provide him with protection.

Abdel-Samad said the campaign against him constituted ‘proof’ that the administration of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi was ‘trying to impose itself and its judgments on the community in the name of God and away from the judiciary and police.’

He elaborated: ‘What is happening now in Egypt amounts to a cultural invasion and ideological terrorism.’

Islamic hardliners in Egypt have justified the killing of several public figures in recent decades, the most famous of whom was the late Nobel Prize-winning author Naguib Mahfouz.

The celebrated writer survived an attempt on his life after being accused of blasphemy by conservative Islamist critics due to his depiction of God as a human leader in one of his novels.” Read more.

Kenya: Devout ‘Religion Of Peace’ Devotees Toss Grenade Into Packed Christian Church During Sunday Service

Enca – “NAIROBI – At least 10 people were wounded in two separate attacks in Kenya, police said Sunday, including a blast at a church in Mombasa and a grenade hurled in a crowd in Nairobi.

In the port city of Mombasa, attackers on a motorbike threw a homemade bomb into a church service, wounding seven, while in Nairobi, a grenade was thrown in the largely ethnic Somali district of Eastleigh, police said.

The attacks are the latest in a string of grenade blasts or shootings to have hit Kenya, although it was not immediately clear if the two attacks were connected.

In Mombasa, coastal police chief Aggrey Adoli said that police were searching for the attackers.

‘The attack occurred at a crusade [church service],’ Adoli said. ‘Those injured have been taken to hospital.’

The blast was believed to be caused by an improvised petrol bomb.

In Nairobi, the capital’s police chief Benson Kibue said ‘a grenade was thrown at a crowd within the Majengo area of Eastleigh, and three people have been injured.’

Kenyan police have previously blamed similar grenade attacks on supporters or members of Somalia’s Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab insurgents.” Read more.

Afghanistan: Islamists Behead Two Children In Kandahar For Accepting Food Handouts From Police

Because, even when you’re starving, if you accept food handouts from any infidels who disagree with Al Qaeda’s “pure” Islamic ideology, then you are automatically suspected of being an infidel yourself. The only thing “pure” about this ideology, however, is how evil it truly is …

BBC News – “The Taliban have beheaded two boys for spying in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar, officials say.

The boys, 10 and 16, had been scavenging for food in bins near police headquarters when they were abducted.

They are thought to have regularly accepted food handouts from police. Analysts say the Taliban are known to target those suspected of colluding with police.

But the Taliban have denied responsibility in this incident.

Spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi insisted to the BBC the group had not beheaded any children in the area.

Food for family

Kandahar’s governor, however, condemned the acts as inhumane and un-Islamic and the provincial government has pinned the blame firmly on the militants.

Although the boys were abducted on Sunday, their bodies were only recovered on Monday morning in Kandahar’s Zhari district.

News first emerged of the 10-year-old’s death and later on Monday the Kandahar provincial government office confirmed that a second boy had also been beheaded.

The 10-year-old boy was very poor and was known to take food going spare from the police to take home to his family, says the BBC’s Mahfouz Zubaide in Kabul.” Read more.

Trinidad And Tobago: Man Shot In Both Legs For Breaking Muslim-Imposed Curfew

By Joel Julien, Trinidad Express Tribune – “A Muslim group has imposed a curfew in the Richplain, Diego Martin area, the Sunday Express learned from a police source yesterday.

A young man who broke that curfew was held down and shot in both legs on Friday night.

Injured was 28-year-old Johann Moore.

Moore was last night at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

Police reports said he was walking to his family’s Richplain home around midnight when he was stopped by two armed men belonging to the religious group.

A designated ‘sentry post’ set up by members of the group is located outside a shop along Richplain Road.

The curfew begins at 10 p.m. and ends before the 6 a.m. call to prayer, the police source said.

Moore was punished for not adhering to the curfew.

He was held down on the ground and shot.

Moore hobbled to his home and officers of the West End Police Station were contacted.

Moore was then taken to hospital.

Head of the Police Service’s Western Division Snr Supt Ishmael David yesterday said he was concerned by the curfew imposed in Richplain.

‘We are concerned by that development. There is no curfew in the country and there should not be any imposed in any area. That is illegal,’ David said in a telephone interview yesterday.” Read more.

Syria: Islamists Execute 15-Year-Old Boy From Aleppo In Front Of Parents For ‘Heretical Comment’

No word on whether the child was Christian, but they accused the 15-year-old boy of “polytheism”, a false charge that Muslims often use to describe the Christian belief in the Triunity of God …

Reuters – “Members of an al Qaeda-linked Islamist group in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo executed a 15-year-old boy in front of his parents on Sunday as punishment for what the group regarded as a heretical comment, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Mohammad Qataa was shot in the face and neck a day after being seized, said the pro-opposition monitoring group, which is based in Britain and uses a network of observers across Syria.

‘The Observatory cannot ignore these crimes, which only serve the enemies of the revolution and the enemies of humanity,’ said the group’s leader Rami Abdulrahman.

A photo released by the Observatory showed Qataa’s face with his mouth and jaw bloodied and destroyed, as well as a bullet wound in his neck.

The Observatory, which based its report on witness accounts of the killing, said Qataa, who was a street vendor selling coffee in the working-class Shaar neighborhood, had been arguing with someone when he was overheard saying: ‘Even if the Prophet Mohammad comes down (from heaven), I will not become a believer.’

The gunmen, who belong to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, a militant group that started off known as the Nusra Front, took Qatta on Saturday and brought him back alive in the early hours of Sunday to his wooden stand, with whiplash marks visible on his body.

‘People gathered around him and a member of the fighting brigade said: ‘Generous citizens of Aleppo, disbelieving in God is polytheism and cursing the prophet is a polytheism. Whoever curses even once will be punished like this.’

‘He then fired two bullets from an automatic rifle in view of the crowd and in front of the boy’s mother and father, and got into a car and left,’ the report said.” Read more.

California: San Francisco International Airport Uses Public Funds To Accomodate Ritual Foot Baths For Muslim Cab Drivers

Now that a few Muslim cab drivers have been given an inch, others will follow suit by looking for that extra mile. As we’ve seen elsewhere, we can soon expect to hear about other devout believers demanding the right to refuse service to passengers with dogs, or carrying alcohol in their luggage (or wearing yarmulkes, or “immodest” women).  And all for “peaceful purposes” which, in the words of one airport spokesman, translates into a “good relationship with ground transportation providers” …

SFGate – “Here’s a sign of the changing times — Muslim cabbies now have their very own place at San Francisco International Airport to wash their hands and feet before they pray.

Under Islamic law, Muslims are required to pray five times a day — a ritual that also calls for a ceremonial cleansing.

For many cab drivers, that’s meant either lugging bottled water around or using one of the bathrooms inside the terminal to wash — a practice not always welcomed by airport passengers.

So Royal Cab driver Hasan Khan, 52, a Pakistani immigrant, collected some 300 signatures from fellow cabbies, urging the airport to give them their own cleansing station.

Airport brass obliged — and the wash equipment was installed on the ground floor of the main garage, right next to where the drivers congregate for their breaks.

‘The way we look at it…this was in the interest of maintaining a good relationship with ground transportation providers,’ says airport spokesman Doug Yakel.

As for using public resources?

On Friday, June 7, an article appears in Sabah that reveals Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to ‘tens of thousands’ of supporters who came out to greet him when he returned from a three day visit to North African countries.

Erdoğan’s trip abroad happened during the worst of the ongoing nationwide protests in Istanbul’s Taksim Square, which were sparked by plans to level a large park to be used instead for commercial purposes.

‘We’ve gotten to this point despite the interest rates lobby, and this lobby right now thinks it’s threatening Turkey with speculation in the markets,’ is how Bloomberg reported the event. ‘No power can stop Turkey’s rise except God,’ while supporters chanted: ‘Open the way and we’ll crush Taksim.’

Erdogan has accused ‘extremist’ groups, including terrorist from far-left organizations, and ‘unidentified foreign provocateurs’ of having a role in the fiercest anti-government protests in years.

But Sabah, a fiercely pro-Erdoğan media outlet, merely quoted the Turkish Prime Minister of blaming a non-specific ‘financial lobby’ or ‘interest lobby.’  Perhaps Walt or Mearsheimer are looking for reporting opportunities – they may be a good fit for Sabah.” Read more.

Qur’an Sura 4:34, “Men have authority over women because [Allah] has made the one superior to the other… Good women are obedient… As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them…”

The Express Tribune – “All it took was a few minutes of insane rage and an axe, and the unthinkable happened. A life was snuffed out – the life of a woman, ironically by him who was supposedly her life partner and protector, by her husband.

A man axed his wife to death and cut her body in pieces over a petty squabble in a remote village of Garhi Habib Ullah, police said. The accused, allegedly an addict, after committing the ghastly murder, threw the body parts out in the fields. According to the police, upon being arrested, he confessed to his crime.

Waqar Khan, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the police station Garhi Habib Ullah said that the villagers informed him about the murder of a woman in village Kashtara, some 12 km from the police station.

According to Khan, the accused Muneer, 45, has admitted to his crime in the police station, adding that his wife Nasreen Bibi, 35, often used to stay out of home. Muneer would take this as an insult and often stopped her from leaving the house.

On the Sunday evening before the heinous crime was committed, she again dared to step out. Muneer searched for her but failed to find any clue. However on Monday evening she returned home and when he inquired about her whereabouts the whole night, her answers could not satisfy him. According to SHO Khan, Muneer got angry and asked her to lie flat on the ground with her face down. ‘Before attacking her, the accused asked her to loudly recite the Kalimas; once she did so, he committed the horrendous act.

When asked about the reason for his cruelty, Muneer told the police that he in doing so had made her a lesson for other women who do not obey their spouses…

According to Javed, Muneer would often beat Nasreen whenever she demanded food and clothes for herself and her children. About two years back, the accused had beaten her with a club, damaging her skull partially. The concussion had altered her mental balance. ‘We took her to our home and got her treated for several months but she never fully recovered,’ he said …” Read more.
