Fox News – “Massachusetts State Police beefed up patrols around the reservoir that supplies Boston’s drinking water after seven foreign students were caught trespassing in the area late at night.With the city still jittery after the April 15 terror attack at the Boston Marathon, word that two women and five men, reportedly from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Singapore, had been found in the restricted area around the Quabbin Reservoir caused concerns. The reservoir serves Boston and some 40 other communities in the area.

‘As an extra precaution, water quality samples were analyzed at MWRA’s lab yesterday and all came back normal,’ Ria Convery, of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, told the Boston Herald. ‘There is no evidence of any water quality issues at the Quabbin Reservoir following the trespassing incident.’

It was after midnight on Tuesday morning when a state trooper on patrol at the reservoir spotted two cars parked on the grass near one of Quabbin’s entrances. The cop investigated and found a group of seven people, five men and two women walking from the water back to their cars. When the police officer asked why they were trespassing, members of the group replied that they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates who had an educational interest in the reservoir, according to police.

The group was briefly held at the scene while background and warrant check were conducted but let go after their records turned up clean.” Read more.

On Monday at around 8 pm, Father Grégoire from the parish of Saint-Jean was attacked by an individual. Struck on the face, the priest was unconscious on the ground until two other members of the parish arrived. This Tuesday morning at around 11 am, Monsignor Cattenoz, Archbishop of Avignon, denounced growing insecurity in the district of Saint-Ruf (while the local authority official in charge of public safety claims instead that there has been a decrease in crime in this sector), as well as the proliferation of thefts and threats towards members of the parish.

The leader of the Catholics in Vaucluse went even further: ‘People of the Muslim faith have progressively taken control of this district’… before proposing to create a committee bringing together representatives of the main religions, in order to calm the situation.

The Avignonnese Mohammed Moussaoui, president of the French Council of the Muslim Religion, also wants to calm things down: ‘Before highlighting adherence to one or another religion, we need to see if the attack was accompanied by words or gestures associated with the religion. Giving it a religious dimension seems counter-productive to me.’

Meanwhile, politicians have not been slow to react.

The mayor of Avignon Marie-Josée Roig (UMP) said he was ‘dismayed by this indescribable act’, recalling that ‘our republican compact cannot tolerate such violent acts perpetrated by some who have an unbearable sense of impunity’. the deputy mayor of Orange Jacques Bompard (Ligue du Sud) [League of the South] calls it an ‘act of racism (in the sense of the penal code) with regard to a Catholic priest, which is also the consequence of the hatred which a certain Islamism propagates with regards to everything that is French and Christian.'” Source – Islam verses Europe.

Christian homes have been torched and churches threatened as increasingly volatile protests have rocked the country.

Scores of people have been killed in the clashes, which erupted in February. At least 37 died earlier this week as police tried to quash protests in the capital, Dhaka, where 70,000 Islamist demonstrators took to the streets on Sunday (5 May), calling for the introduction of an anti-blasphemy law.

This was the deadline that one Islamist group, Hefazat e-Islam Bangladesh (HIB), had given the government to implement its demands, which include sharia rule, virtual segregation of women and the death sentence for those who insult Islam or Muhammad.

An anti-blasphemy law would be disastrous for Christians in Bangladesh. Their counterparts in Pakistan suffer grievously as a result of the blasphemy laws there, under which they are vulnerable to malicious, false accusation. Devotion to Muhammad is a particular feature of South Asian Islam, and the Pakistani law specifies a death sentence for anyone who insults him.

Jama’at-e-Islami (JI), the largest Islamist political party in Bangladesh, has threatened to ‘kill all the Malauns [infidels]’. Muslims view Christians and other non-Muslims as ‘infidels’.” Read more.

The Christian Post – “Coptic-owned businesses and pharmacies in Menbal village, Minya in northern Egypt were attacked by a mob, resulting in extensive damage and several injuries.

‘The thugs attacked my shop, assaulting it with stones. Some of the contents were damaged … they destroyed a number of Coptic-owned shops and pharmacies,’ Michael Sobhi, a witness from the village, told Mideast Christian News.

‘The Copts of the village couldn’t confront the thugs, as their numbers increased. They had firearms and blades, so Copts tried to avoid fighting with them,’ he added.

‘The thugs began the attack by insulting Copts from the village entrance and car park,’ Sobhi continued. ‘They threatened to expel them from the village.’

Sobhi said the mob attacked Coptic citizen Ibrahim Abdou, 48, and his wife as they were returning home. Abdou suffered a cut to the forehead from a blade and his wife sustained bruises.” Read more.

Report: Iran Gives Terror Groups Go-Ahead To Conduct ‘Spectacular’ Strike Inside The US Within Weeks

Three targets have been chosen within America for imminent attack, and the terror teams have now cut communications with the operational center in Iran, a sign that they are moving ahead with the attacks, according to a high-level intelligence officer within the Islamic regime.

If only one of the attacks occurs, the regime will consider the operation a success, the source said. Tehran believes, he said, an attack would not be traced back to Iran due to the nationalities of the operators.

By JON GAMBRELL, Associated Press – “LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Admitting Islamic extremists now control some of his nation’s villages and towns, Nigeria’s president declared a state of emergency Tuesday across the country’s troubled northeast, promising to send more troops to fight what he said is now an open rebellion.

President Goodluck Jonathan, speaking live on state radio and television networks, also warned that any building suspected to house Islamic extremists would be taken over in what he described as the ‘war’ now facing Africa’s most populous nation. However, it’s unclear what the emergency powers will do to halt the violence, as a similar past effort failed to stop the bloodshed.

‘It would appear that there is a systematic effort by insurgents and terrorists to destabilize the Nigerian state and test our collective resolve,’ Jonathan said.

Jonathan said the order will be in force in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. He said the states would receive more troops, though he will not remove state politicians from their posts. Under Nigerian law, the president has the power to remove politicians from their posts and install a caretaker government in emergency circumstances.

The president’s speech offered the starkest vision of the ongoing violence, often downplayed by security forces and government officials due to political considerations. Jonathan described the attacks as a ‘rebellion,’ at one point describing how fighters had destroyed government buildings and ‘had taken women and children as hostages.’

‘Already, some northern parts of Borno state have been taken over by groups whose allegiance are to different flags than Nigeria’s,’ Jonathan said.

The president later added: ‘These actions amount to a declaration of war and a deliberate attempt to undermine the authority of the Nigerian state and threaten (its) territorial integrity. As a responsible government, we will not tolerate this.'” Read more.

AFP – “A Syrian rebel who was filmed apparently cutting out and eating the organs of a soldier has defended his actions as revenge for regime atrocities, Time magazine reported on Tuesday.

The U.S. news weekly said it had talked by Skype with the fighter, identified as Khalid al-Hamad, who appeared in a video that sparked outrage and condemnation, including from the Syrian opposition.

Hamad claimed he was driven to the gruesome acts by footage on the dead soldier’s cellphone, showing him ‘humiliating’ a naked woman and her two daughters.

The magazine said Hamad described participating in another acts of mutilating regime forces, including militiamen known as shabiha.

‘I have another video clip… In the clip I am sawing another shabiha with a saw. The saw we use to cut trees. I sawed him in small pieces and large ones,’ Time quoted him as saying.

The magazine said Hamad, a Sunni like much of the opposition fighting against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, expressed hatred of member’s of the leader’s Alawite sect.

He also insisted that the rebel, identified as Hamad, had been ‘previously ejected’ from his unit ‘because of his history of brutality.’

Report: Syria Green-Lights Hezbollah Attack Against Israel From Golan Heights, Iranian Agents Training To Storm Israeli Border

By Aaron Klein, WND – “TEL AVIV – The Iranian-backed Hezbollah is established training camps near the Syrian capital of Damascus to prepare for possible guerrilla warfare targeting Israel’s northern Golan Heights, according to informed Middle Eastern security officials.

The officials said the camps are training Palestinian groups as well as special units connected to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s Baath party for operations against Israel if such actions are green-lighted by Assad in the near future.

The officials said that for the time being, Russia has urged Assad against taking any action targeting Israel.

Assad is also being held back from widening the conflict with the Jewish state for the time being since his army has made great advances toward quelling the jihadist-led rebel insurgency targeting his regime.

Large explosions rocked Damascus two weeks ago with Syria blaming Israel for the strikes, which reportedly targeted a military research center in Jamraya, near Damascus.

The reports followed confirmations by anonymous Israeli officials that the Israel Air Force carried out a strike against Syria earlier this month targeting a shipment of advanced missiles bound for Hezbollah.

The New York Times quoted U.S. officials saying the strike targeted Iranian Fateh-110 missiles headed for Hezbollah.

Syrian Information Minister Omran Zoabi was quoted by state-run media saying the Israeli air strikes ‘opens the door to all possibilities.’

Lebanese media quoted Seyed Hassan Firouzabadi, the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, as saying: ‘Resistance forces will respond to the Israeli aggression.'” Source – WND.

Again: Four Colossal Sun Flares In 48 hours, More Expected To Come

On Tuesday, it released the biggest solar flare of 2013 so far, an intense burst associated with a huge eruption of particles.

When these eruptions reach Earth, they can interfere with satellites and communications systems on the ground.

The sunspots that spawned these flares are not directly facing our planet, but some Nasa spacecraft could be in the path of the solar particles.

Increased numbers of flares are expected at the moment because the Sun’s normal 11-year activity cycle is approaching its peak – known as a solar maximum – this year.

Dr Robert Massey, from the UK’s Royal Astronomical Society, told the BBC: “What’s interesting about these events is that you have them in quick succession.

‘It really does say that we’re approaching this 11-year peak. We can’t say exactly when it’s going to happen, you can only work it out retrospectively.'” Read more.

Before he left on Friday he told a Muslim Brotherhood rally that Israel had no right to exist. The rally was the scene of mass chanting of ‘liberate Palestine … from the sons of monkeys and pigs’.

If all that was depressingly predictable, less so, was the range of voices opposed to Qaradawi’s cult of death.

Yes, Israel, of course. After all, Qaradawi’s Jew-hatred is undiluted and canonical. Listen to him (from Fatawa on Palestine):

Erwin Antonio Rios, 19, of the 1200 block of Oak Knolls Drive, allegedly planned to obtain a gun illegally and take part in a local religious jihad against non-believers, or kuffar, and members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Rios met with an FBI informant over several months and detailed his attacks. They included robbing armored vehicles, killing guards protecting them, and luring police to a home and setting off bombs, documents say.

Rios adhered to the ideology of radical Islamic extremism groups, according to court documents. Those groups believe violence is religiously justified.

Rios told an FBI informant he wanted to be a soldier for Allah, according to an affidavit signed Feb. 7 by Special Agent Frank Brostrom.

Rios started talking to the informant June 27, after meeting at an Islamic house of worship in Raeford.

Part of his planned attacks included staging a robbery of an armored vehicle and shooting two of the guards in the face, the documents say.

Another attack would have involved police, according to records. Rios said he wanted to make bombs and plant them in a house.” Read more.

Boston: Seven Muslim ‘Chemical Engineers’ Caught Trespassing At Quabbin Reservoir Supplying Drinking Water To Boston, Patrols Stepped Up Across State

CBS Boston – “BELCHERTOWN (CBS) – Shortly after midnight Tuesday, seven people were caught trespassing at the Quabbin Reservoir.

State Police say the five men and two women are from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, and ‘cited their education and career interests’ for being in the area. The men told police they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates.

The Quabbin, in Belchertown, is one of the country’s largest man-made public water supplies. Boston’s drinking water comes from the Quabbin and the Wachusett Reservoirs.

State Police say there were no warrants or advisories on any of the individuals and ‘there was no evidence that the seven were committing any crime beyond the trespassing.’

All seven were allowed to leave and will be summonsed to court for trespassing. The FBI is investigating and routine checks of public water supplies have been increased following the incident.

The seven individuals currently live in Amherst, Cambridge, Sunderland, Northampton and New York City. Police have not released their names because a court date has not been set.” Source – CBS Boston.
