Krauthammer: Leak Indicates Israeli Attack on Iran ‘Certain’, Incoming IAF Chief ‘Will Prepare Perfect Attack Plan’

02/06/2012 Leave a comment

In December 2011 we learned that Israel appointed an ‘Iran Command’ chief to head a new army formation and secretly completed a significant two-year-long upgrade to (at least) one of its submarines. Now we’re learning of a highly-esteemed new IAF chief chosen to create the ‘perfect attack plan’ against Iran. Meanwhile, as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei calls for the death of all Jews and the annihilation of Israel, a political pundit like Charles Krauthammer can digest and analyze perfectly well what is taking place, while Barack Obama — the ‘leader of the free world’ — still doesn’t seem to get it

By Jeff Poor – “Last week in his Washington Post column, David Ignatius wrote that Israel was preparing to attack Iran to prevent it from being able to build a nuclear bomb.

According to his Post opinion page colleague Charles Krauthammer, based on the source behind Ignatius’ claim it is likely an attack will occur.

On this weekend’s broadcast of ‘Inside Washington,’ Krauthammer explained his thought process.

‘I think it’s fairly certain the Israelis are going to attack or you would not have had this leak, deliberately coming this week from secretary of Defense through David Ignatius of The [Washington] Post saying that he thinks there is a high likelihood Israel is going to attack, and then he went ahead and specified when. He said three months, April, May or June. And you don’t say that unless there is obviously indications from the Israelis that they are going to do this even if they get and they are getting a signal from the United States not to do it.’

Krauthammer doubted Israel was factoring what impact a strike against Iran might have on upcoming U.S. presidential election.

‘No, I think the calculation is what Ignatius reported as Panetta said: The Israelis think that the problem is that Iran is about to enter the zone of immunity. And that means the trigger is not the assumption that Iran now has the know-how to make a bomb. That is later down the road. What comes earlier is when Iran has put enough uranium in completely untouchable, protected sites, like the mountain outside of Qom where you cannot touch it, meaning that at that point, Iran has the wherewithal, the facilities, the material that it can build a bomb unmolested, and then it can never be attacked again. If Israel thinks it is approaching the point of immunity, it will attack.'” Read more.

Incoming IAF chief Amir Eshel ‘will prepare perfect attack plan’ – “Hours after it was announced that Defense Minister Ehud Barak has approved IDF Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Benny Gantz’s decision to appoint Major-General Amir Eshel as the next IAF commander, colleagues congratulated the decision, saying he is the right man for the job. ‘He’ll put all the cards on the table – good or bad,’ said a senior officer that served with Eshel. Referring to the possibility that Eshel would be the one overseeing an IAF military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, the officer said: ‘He’ll know how to prepare the forces in the most meticulous and perfect manner, and lay out all the possible scenarios and chances of success.'” Read more.

Netanyahu Says Only Military Strength Guarantees Security in Middle East – “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who yesterday announced plans to visit the U.S. in March, said turmoil in neighboring Arab states and threats from Iran show that Israel must build up its military. ‘In such a region, the only thing that ensures our existence, security and prosperity is our strength,’ Netanyahu told his Cabinet in Jerusalem in remarks broadcast on Israel Radio. ‘We are obligated to continue to develop the military, economic and social strength of the state of Israel.’ Israeli leaders have been warning publicly that time is running out for a military strike that could stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.” Read more.

Ayatollah: Kill All Jews Worldwide, Annihilate Israel

02/05/2012 1 comment

The Prophet Isaiah, in describing the condition of the world leading up to the Second Coming of Christ, says that “the curse [alah] has devoured the earth, And those who dwell in it are desolate” (Isa 24:6). Yes, the word here for “curse” is the Hebrew word “alah” …

By Reza Kahlili – “The Iranian government, through a website proxy, has laid out the legal and religious justification for the destruction of Israel and the slaughter of its people.

The doctrine includes wiping out Israeli assets and Jewish people worldwide.

Calling Israel a danger to Islam, the conservative website Alef, with ties to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the opportunity must not be lost to remove ‘this corrupting material. It is a ‘jurisprudential justification’ to kill all the Jews and annihilate Israel, and in that, the Islamic government of Iran must take the helm.’

The article, written by Alireza Forghani, a conservative analyst and a strategy specialist in Khamenei’s camp, now is being run on most state-owned conservative sites, including the Revolutionary Guards’ Fars News Agency, showing that the regime endorses this doctrine.

Because Israel is going to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran is justified in launching a pre-emptive, cataclysmic attack against the Jewish state, the doctrine argues.

On Friday, in a major speech at prayers, Khamenei announced that Iran will support any nation or group that attacks the ‘cancerous tumor’ of Israel. Though his statement was seen by some in the West as fluff, there is substance behind it.

Iran’s Defense Ministry announced this weekend that it test-fired an advanced two-stage, solid-fuel ballistic missile and boasted about successfully putting a new satellite into orbit, reminding the West that its engineers have mastered the technology for intercontinental ballistic missiles even as the Islamic state pushes its nuclear weapons program.

The commander of the Revolutionary Guards, Brig. Gen. Seyyed Mehdi Farahi, stated in August that the Safir missile, which is capable of transporting a satellite into space, can easily be launched parallel to the earth’s orbit, which will transform it into an intercontinental ballistic missile. Western analysts didn’t believe this would happen until 2015. Historically, orbiting a satellite is the criterion for crediting a nation with ICBM capability.

Forghani details the Islamic duty of jihad as laid out in the Quran for the sake of Allah and states that ‘primary jihad,’ according to some Shiite jurists, can only occur when the Hidden Imam, the Shiites’ 12th Imam Mahdi, returns. Shiites believe Mahdi’s return will usher in Armageddon.

In the absence of the hidden Imam, Forghani says, ‘defensive jihad’ could certainly take place when Islam is threatened, and Muslims must defend Islam and kill their enemies. To justify such action, Alef quotes the Shiites’ first imam, Ali, who stated

No Joke: Turkish Think-Tank Recommends Turkey as ‘A Useful Model for New Arab Regimes’

02/05/2012 Leave a comment

The leader of Turkey may be no spring chicken, but even he believes what all radicals believe: “The minarets are our bayonets; the domes are our helmets. Mosques are our barracks, the believers are soldiers. This holy army guards my religion. Almighty, Our journey is our destiny, the end is martyrdom.” What better political model is there for the “Arab Spring” regimes to follow other than one which promotes the pro-Caliphate aspirations of Islamist revolutionaries, denies that murdering hundreds of thousands of Christians should be considered genocide, impedes freedom of the press and freedom of speech, promotes jihad, and makes verbal attacks against Israel “a central feature” of its political discourse? Yes, Turkey is a useful model for the new Arab regimes indeed …

By Michel Sailhan – “For many in the Arab world, Turkey embodies something of an elusive ideal: an Islamist-based democracy with a strong economy.

A survey published Thursday by the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation, a non-governmental think-tank, found almost 80 percent of respondents in the Middle East had a favourable view of Turkey, and three out of five considered the country a model for a modern Islamic state.

Following last year’s Arab Spring uprisings, an unprecedented wave of popular revolt that swept the Arab world and led to the ouster of a string of dictators, many analysts are wondering if Turkey serves as a useful example of what a moderate Islamist democracy looks like.

The country is seen as having ‘reconciled two dynamics: economic growth and a democratic system put in place by an Islamist-derived party,’ Turkish foreign policy expert Sinan Ulgan said.

Turkey, a secular Muslim-majority country that straddles Europe and Asia, is viewed especially favourably by many in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt, countries in which Ankara backed the sprawling Arab Spring protest movements which led to the toppling of their dictators…

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s AKP party, the Islamist-based party that has been in power since 2002, won a broad victory in June parliamentary elections, gaining 50 percent of the votes.

But some analysts temper the notion of Turkey as a model democracy, pointing to clampdowns on journalists and ongoing problems with the country’s sizable Kurdish population.” Read more.

Viral Facebook Photo of ‘IDF Soldier’ Pointing Gun at Girl is Fake

02/05/2012 Leave a comment

“A photograph that went viral on Facebook this week, showing what was claimed to be an Israel Defense Forces soldier pointing a weapon at a young Palestinian girl, prompted anger and cries for clarification across the social network.

The photo, uploaded by a Facebook user named Wesley Muahammad, shows a uniform-clad soldier, his face out of frame, pressing a boot to the stomach of a helpless girl lying on the floor while pointing an AK-47 rifle at her face.

Soon after the picture began circling the social network, Facebook users began refuting its authenticity. Many posted the photograph again, explaining that the caption claiming the soldier was Israeli had to be false because his uniform was not that of the IDF’s, nor does the Israeli army regularly use AK-47s.

‘Don’t believe everything you see on the Internet,’ wrote blogger Omar Dakhane, who uploaded a wider framed version of the image, showing a crowd surrounding the soldier and the girl. ‘This picture was taken in Bahrain 2009 during a street theater.’

Other refuters said the photograph was taken during a riot in Syria.

The wider framed shot also shows that the soldier has a home-made Israeli flag patch pinned to his jacket, and the crowd of bystanders watching the scene without any moving toward the soldier or the girl.

The photograph was taken down on Wednesday, although by the time any action was taken, it had already become an internet sensation.” Source – Haaretz.

Kuwait: Islamists Experience Overwhelming Gains in Parliamentary Elections, Women and Liberals See Dismal Losses

02/05/2012 Leave a comment

By Habib Toumi – “Manama: Kuwait has become the fourth Arab country in as many months to see overwhelming gains for Islamists and dismal losses for liberals in parliamentary elections.

It also saw a new exclusion of women from the 50-seat parliament after none of the 23 women candidates, including the four incumbents, could secure enough votes to win even though women made up around 54% of the voting bloc.

Overall change to the parliament composition over the latest one, which was dissolved in December following bitter clashes with the government, was about 54 per cent as 27 new lawmakers made their way to the green seats.

The Islamists have now 22 seats from the Salafist and Muslim Brotherhood movements as well as independent MPs.

‘This reflects a regional state of mind following the Islamists’ wins in other Arab countries,’ analysts for Al Aan news said. ‘It is reflective of the weakness and limitations of the civil society in Kuwait.’

However, liberals were, like in the other Arab countries where national elections were held, on a downward spiral and kept only one of the five seats they had in the outgoing parliament.

‘Some of the MPs are known for their attacks on other Kuwaitis and for their sectarianism and this could spell trouble,’ the analysts said.

Mohammad Al Suhaili, a Kuwaiti political analyst, said that the new formation would spell trouble.

‘Tribalism and Islamism have proven that they are undisputedly the most significant factors in the elections, way ahead of any other consideration,’ he said. ‘There will be numerous clashes between the lawmakers whose backgrounds and orientations sharply contrast as well as standoffs with the government. I do not think that this parliament will go to the full extent of its term. It is way too explosive to remain,’ the Bahrain-based analyst told Gulf News.” Read more.

Turkey: Ex-Muslim Boy Clings to Christian Faith Despite Beatings for Not Reciting Muslim Prayer

02/05/2012 1 comment

By Gary Lane – “TURKEY – February 2011. Americans are appalled when they see shocking cell phone video of a vicious attack on a 13-year-old boy from Philadelphia, Pa.

Nadin Khoury said the assault occurred because he’s small for his age and his family is African. Khoury made the rounds on television talk shows like the CBS’ ‘The View,’ which are often eager to highlight the victims of bullying in America.

But what about Christians in other countries who are attacked and sometimes even killed because of their faith, especially if they’re converts from Islam?

Assaults like the one against Khoury occur regularly in Muslim countries around the world and the American mainstream media is unlikely to tell you about it.

Stories like that of a former Muslim named Hussein. The 11-year-old publicly professed his Christian faith in Turkey by wearing a silver cross necklace in school.

‘It’s not the physical cross. It’s the meaning of the cross that is important. It is a beautiful thing,’ he explained. ‘I wanted people to ask me about it and then I could tell them about Christ.’

Hussein was 9 years old at the time. His father, Hakeem, was once an Islamic scholar who had studied the Koran in Iran and Syria. When his questions about Islam went unanswered, Hakeem searched elsewhere for the truth. He discovered it in the Bible and in church.

After he became a Christian, Hakeem decided to take Hussein and his other children to church.

‘I felt so alive hearing the hymns and singing in the church! I felt I had to learn more about this. I was so joyful,’ he recalled.

After the boy accepted Christ, Hussein wanted to share the good news with others. He was unaware of the potential dangers he faced for leaving Islam.

His sister saw him wearing the silver cross necklace and anxiously told her parents that Hussein was telling everyone that the family had become Christians.

Because they feared persecution from militant Muslims, Hussein’s parents prohibited him from wearing the cross.

‘We referred to it as Hussein’s problem. We were trying to prevent conflicts with others, but we came to realize that we were the ones with the problem, not Hussein,’ Hakeem said.

‘We decided to be like Hussein, more open about our Christianity,’ he said.

His Muslim classmates taunted Hussein in school. They spat on him and called him names. He often suffered attacks similar to the one against Khoury.” Read more.

Yes We Can: Iranian Parliament Urges Government to Attack Israel this Year

02/05/2012 1 comment

By Gil Ronen – “The Iranian parliament’s official website has published an article calling on the government to attack Israel before the end of the year.

According to Israeli TV Channel 2’s veteran Middle East expert, Ehud Yaari, the article cites three reasons for the call.

First – a religious fatwa allowing such a strike. Second – threats from Israel regarding a planned strike on Iran. And third – Iran’s alleged military capability to carry out such an attack.

The article specifies that the area between Lod and Jerusalem should be targeted, as well as Tel Nof Air Force Base.

The article seems to be part of a recent trend in Iran to step up the rhetoric regarding a possible attack on Israel. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Friday that Israel is a ‘cancerous tumor that should be cut and will be cut.’

‘We have intervened in anti-Israel matters, and it brought victory in the 33-day war by Hizbullah against Israel in 2006, and in the 22-day war’ between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, Khamenei was quoted as saying.

He added, ‘From now on, in any place, if any nation or any group confronts the Zionist regime, we will endorse and we will help. We have no fear expressing this.’

On Saturday, press outlets in Iran also widely quoted a blog post by Alireza Forghani, a computer engineer, who called upon Tehran to ‘wipe out Israel’ by 2014.” Read more.

South Dakota: Game Agency Investigates Mysterious Deaths of 100 Pigeons in Downtown Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – The South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Department is investigating about 100 suspicious deaths in downtown Rapid City – and the victims are all pigeons.

John Kanta, regional wildlife manager for the department, tells the Associated Press that dozens of bird corpses have been recovered since Thursday afternoon. The deaths are mysterious enough that samples have been flown to a lab in Madison, Wis., in hopes of determining the cause.

Kanta says the birds could have been sickened by mold or bacteria, but officials suspect they were poisoned.

Kanta says officials are ‘worried about the incidental loss we might see with other animals’ – specifically peregrine falcons.” Read more.

Virginia: More Than 1,000 Fish Found Dead in Henrico County, ‘Everything is Wiped Out’

02/05/2012 Leave a comment

“HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – State authorities are looking into why more than a thousand fish turned up dead in Henrico County. It happened in the Winchester Green subdivision, in the far west end.

It is quite the unpleasant sight, a fish kill, neighbors first discovered earlier in the week. Authorities came out to take a look, and they say more than 1,000 fish died here earlier in the week.

It’s a mystery, and it’s not pretty: all these dead fish, scattered over two ponds in an otherwise picturesque community.

Sandra register has lived here 22 years and she’s never seen anything like it.

‘We’ve never had everything die. I mean, everything is wiped out in here,’ she said.

The floating and decaying remains were first discovered Monday; including that of a large beaver, though it’s unclear if that’s related. All week, Sandra and others have been speculating as to what might have happened.

‘That someone had put something in the water,’ Sandra said.

Officials with the Department of Environmental Quality won’t confirm that. In fact, there’s little they can say for sure.

What’s clear is that it’s so upsetting to the children and adults who take great pride in what they used to be able to see, right outside their windows.

‘It’s important to me. I sit at my kitchen table and drink my coffee and watch the deer and occasionally get a glimpse of the fox running by. It’s very important to me,’ Sandra stated.

Whatever happened here to cause this, isn’t quite clear. But the DEQ continues to investigate. They say there is no risk to the public.

Neighbors say the water has yet to be tested, but there doesn’t appear to be any evidence of a chemical spill or illegal dumping.” Source – Fox19.

The Caliphate – One Year Later

Discussion of Turkey’s role features prominently. Only a few years ago, the predictions that I made in my book Islamic Antichrist concerning the future of Turkey were often met with skepticism or outright disregard. Today, Turkey’s emerging role as the strong-horse of the Middle East and the leader of the coming Caliphate, as clearly predicted in the Bible, is beginning to be widely acknowledged. Among the many Scriptural arguments presented in my forthcoming book, Mideast Beast: The Scriptural Case for an Islamic Antichrist, (release date, September 4) I continue to demonstrate the prominent role of Turkey in Bible prophecy.” Source – Joel’s Trumpet.

US Officials: Iran May Be Aiding Al-Qaida (Again)

02/04/2012 Leave a comment

By SIOBHAN GORMAN – “WASHINGTON – U.S. officials say they believe Iran recently gave new freedoms to as many as five top Al Qaeda operatives who have been under house arrest, including the option to leave the country, and may have provided some material aid to the terrorist group.

The men, who were detained in Iran in 2003, make up Al Qaeda’s so-called management council, a group that includes members of the inner circle that advised Usama bin Laden and an explosives expert widely considered a candidate for a top post in the organization.

The assertions are likely to amplify tensions between Washington and Tehran. A U.S. Senate committee on Thursday moved to intensify sanctions to force Iran into negotiations on its nuclear program, while Tehran has largely defied pressure. This week, Iran prevented UN nuclear inspectors from gaining access to sites and scientists, according to diplomats.

Skeptics caution that intelligence on Iran’s activities is limited and worry that some policy makers might use provocative reports to justify military action against Tehran. Iran has denied any connection with Al Qaeda.

U.S. officials believe there have been recent indications that officials in the Iranian government have provided Al Qaeda operatives in Iran limited assistance, including logistical help, money and cars, according to a person briefed on the developments.

Adding to the U.S. pressure on Iran, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told senators in an annual intelligence assessment that U.S. agencies believe the Iranian regime is now more willing to conduct an attack in the U.S.” Read more.

An Attack Against Iran’s Nuclear Facilities with Conventional Weapons Will Only Delay Nuke Program

02/04/2012 Leave a comment

Any strike against Iran should also involve the targeted destruction of its theocratic leadership …

By Elad Benari – “As the rampant speculations that Israel will soon launch a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities continue, a report on NBC on Friday revealed what such an attack may look like.

The report, the main points of which were presented by Israel’s Channel 10 News, is based on conversations the American network held with current and former officials in Israel and the United States. The report suggests that an attack on Iran will combine air and ground faces but will not include naval forces.

The officials interviewed said that the attack will be led by the Israeli artillery, which will use Jericho 2 missiles that have a range of 2,500 kilometers. The report also says the artillery will be assisted by F-15i aircraft and Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The officials also told NBC that the operation will include ground units, but that they will not be involved in the actual attacks, focusing instead on marking targets or collecting intelligence.

The report added that the officials interviewed said that they believe the chances for an Israeli military operation in Iran are higher than 50 percent. They said, however, that they believe such an attack will not succeed in destroying all the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic and that the attack’s purpose would be simply to delay the Iranian nuclear program by damaging its most sensitive facilities. In such a case, one official said, Israel is prepared to repeat the attack in a few years.

Another important note made by the NBC report is that all the officials interviewed agreed with recent reports that Israel will not notify the White House a long time in advance of the attack.” Read more.
