WARP Speed Ahead: Have CERN Scientists Managed to Exceed the Speed of Light?
“An international team of scientists has recorded neutrino particles travelling faster than the speed of light, a spokesman for the researchers said on Thursday — in what could be a challenge to one of the fundamental rules of physics.
Antonio Ereditato, who works at the CERN particle physics center on the Franco-Swiss border, told Reuters that measurements over three years showed the neutrinos moving 60 nanoseconds quicker than light over a distance of 730 km between Geneva and Gran Sasso, Italy.
‘We have high confidence in our results. But we need other colleagues to do their tests and confirm them,’ he said.
Dr. Ereditato conducted the research with his colleagues by preparing beams of just one type, muon neutrinos, sending them from Cern to an underground laboratory at Gran Sasso in Italy. They then checked how many of the beams showed up as tau neutrinos, the BBC reported.
While conducting experiment, the researchers noticed that the particles showed up 60 billionths of a second sooner than light would have over the same distance, the BBC report said.
The team then measured the travel times of neutrino bunches roughly 15,000 times, reportedly reaching a level of statistical significance that in scientific circles would be considered a formal discovery.
If confirmed, the discovery would overturn a key part of Albert Einstein’s 1905 theory of special relativity, which says that nothing in the universe can travel faster than light.” Source.

The model mentioned earlier by Dr. Humphreys may give us a way of better understanding how light was originally created ‘on its way’ and yet not have this problem of ‘built-in information.’ In a sense, it may also effectively involve a change in (apparent) c (since as the stars recede rapidly, the lightbeam remains intact), though it would not predict that this would be detectable in historical measurements. We hope that sufficient discussion has already taken place to enable the reader to see that the apparent problem of having young age and great size of the universe has a number of possible solutions. Palestinian Authority to Give UNSC ‘Some Time’ to Mull Statehood Bid Before Heading to the General Assembly

By KHALED ABU TOAMEH AND REUTERS – “The Palestinians will give the UN Security Council ‘some time’ to study their application for full membership in the United Nations, a senior Palestinian official said on Wednesday.
‘We will give some time to the Security Council to consider first our full membership request before heading to the General Assembly,’ Nabil Shaath, a senior official in Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah party, told reporters on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
At the same time, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Wednesday evening before a meeting with US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in New York that negotiations with the Palestinians are needed in order to reach a peace agreement.
When asked about the settlements in a joint press conference, Netanyahu said ‘I did something that no previous Israeli government did. I actually froze any construction for ten months, waited nine months and one week.’ He went on to say that ‘the Palestinians finally came and said, well, keep on freezing.’
The prime minister said that Israel concluded with the United States that the real issues must be addressed in order to get peace. ‘We have to negotiate the issues to resolve them. We can’t just negotiate about the negotiations,’ he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Obama told the UN General Assembly that there could be ‘no shortcuts’ to peace between the Israelis and Palestinians, and that negotiations between the two parties would be the only means to achieving a true and lasting peace.
In his 20-minute speech before the international body, Obama devoted significant time to discussing the Israeli- Palestinian conflict.
Obama alluded to his remarks before the General Assembly in 2010. In that speech, he had expressed his hope that there would be a Palestinian state requesting membership in 2011 – remarks that could be seen as prescient in light of Abbas’s plans to petition the Security Council to recognize Palestine as a state.

Bedein, who is currently in the United States, told Arutz Sheva: ‘They do not want a Palestinian state, but all of Palestine. Arkansas: Wildlife Officials Discover Thousands of Dead Fish Along Arkansas River in Little Rock
By Suzi Parker – “(Reuters) – Wildlife officials have discovered thousands of dead fish along the Arkansas River in Little Rock and were still counting carcasses on Tuesday, a day after an angler reported seeing dozens of dead white bass.
‘We are on the river trying to determine the extent of the fish kill,’ said Keith Stephens, public information coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Wildlife investigators said the dead fish were mainly white bass, which are common in the river, and were between 5 and 8 inches long. Most were found near the foot of the Two Rivers Bridge, an 80-foot pedestrian bridge that opened in July.
An Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology official said toxins had not been eliminated as a potential cause and that oxygen levels had tested normal so far. Other test results for disease and parasites could take a month to conclude.” Read more.
California: Hundreds of Dead Squid Wash Up at Blacks Beach
There have been reports in the past of large oarfish and even whales beaching themselves just days before a large earthquake. Could squid now be doing the same thing? …
“SAN DIEGO — Hundreds of Humboldt squid washed up on Black’s Beach over the weekend.
San Diego lifeguard Sgt. Ben Lewis said the squid rode the tide in on Saturday afternoon.
‘It was quite a scene to see with the beach strewn with hundreds of dead and dying squid,’ said Lewis.
Lewis said the squid were each about a foot long and appeared to weigh a few pounds. He added that it was much more than just a sight.
‘Of course, as you might imagine, there were some odors associated with that,’ he said. ‘The only thing left on the beach right now is the scent of dead squid and seagull footprints.’
The squid, which are native to South America and can grow to be six feet, appeared on the beach Saturday afternoon until early Sunday morning, when high tide washed away all but 50 of the squid.
Lewis said seagulls flocked to feast on the remaining dead squid.” Read more.
At Least 4 Dead as Typhoon ‘Roke’ Smashes Into Japan, Heads for Fukushima Nuclear Plant
By Chana Ya’ar – “At least four people are dead and two more are missing in a typhoon that smashed into Japan from the Pacific Ocean.
Workers at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant are bracing for the worst as the storm heads their way.
‘We have taken every possible measure against the typhoon,’ Naoko Tsunoda, a spokesman for Tokyo Electric Power Company, operator of the plant, told reporters.
‘We have tied down cables and hoses while fixing equipment so that radioactive materials will not spread [in the violent winds].’ All ground and sea operations have been suspended, he added.
Winds were raging at up to 130 miles per hour at the center of the storm, with heavy rains pouring down.
Four people were found dead in central and western Japan. A young boy disappeared on his way home from elementary school, and another person has disappeared as well in the central prefecture of Gifu.
The storm, dubbed Typhoon Roke by Japan’s Meteorological Agency, made landfall near Hamamatsu in central Japan at about 2:00 p.m. local time Wednesday, and was on course to move northeast across the island of Honshu.” Read more.
China: Genetically Linked Polio Strain From Pakistan Makes Its Way To Chinese Mainland
By Jaime FlorCruz and Haolan Hong – “Beijing (CNN) — An outbreak of polio has been confirmed in China for the first time since 1999, leaving one person dead and hospitalizing another nine, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The disease, a contagious viral illness that in its most severe form causes paralysis, difficulty breathing and sometimes death, broke out in the prefectures of Hotan and Bazhou in the country’s western Xinjiang province.
Among the ten cases confirmed, six are in children under three years old and four are young adults.
The WHO said evidence indicates the virus is genetically linked to polio cases currently circulating in Pakistan, which borders Xinjiang. Pakistan has been affected by the nationwide transmission of the same WPV1 strain.
It also warned the virus could spread beyond the current affected area.
‘Although other areas in China or other countries are not immediately at risk due to the geographic distance to the affected province, the polio virus can travel great distances and find susceptible populations, no matter where they live,’ Helen Yu, from the WHO’s Beijing office told CNN.” Read more.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton described as ‘excellent’ her talks in New York City on Monday with her Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu. President Obama is scheduled to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan there on Tuesday. All are in the city for this week’s U.N. General Assembly sessions.
The Clinton-Davutoglu meeting came a day after the Turkish foreign minister announced that his government had blocked an Israeli attempt to open a liaison office at NATO headquarters in Brussels – the latest in a string of moves aimed at punishing Israel over a deadly commando raid on a Turkish ship carrying pro-Palestinian activists to the Gaza Strip in May 2010.
Erdogan’s Islamist-leaning government earlier this month angrily rejected a U.N. report on the incident that called the Israeli raid ‘excessive and unreasonable’ but also described the attempt to breach Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-ruled territory as ‘reckless’ and concluded that the blockade was a ‘legitimate security measure.’
While Israeli leaders have expressed a desire to heal the rift between the one-time allies, Turkey imposed sanctions on Jerusalem and declared its intention to use all international forums to make its views on Israel known.
Erdogan used a high-profile tour of Egypt, Tunisia and Libya last week to repeatedly condemn Israel and throw his weight behind the Palestinian U.N. recognition bid. And Turkish media reported that a government minister, Egemen Bagis, staged a symbolic walkout of an international conference in Ukraine on Friday when Israeli President Shimon Peres was about to deliver a speech.
In a fresh development, Davutoglu told CNN’s Turkish channel on Sunday that Turkey had threatened to veto an Israeli application this month to open an office at NATO headquarters.
‘We said we would veto this attempt and the issue was not even put on the agenda,’ Turkey’s Hurriyet newspaper quoted him as telling the news channel. It said Davutoglu also denied that Israel would benefit in any way from a recent decision to house a NATO missile defense radar on Turkish soil.” Read more.

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani remains behind bars in Rasht awaiting what is called a re-examination. He claims he never really practiced the Islamic faith. Jason DeMars of Present Truth Ministries tells OneNewsNow what can be expected at the hearing.
‘They will be determining whether he was a Muslim between the ages of 15 and 19 — after the age of accountability — and then 19 when he became a Christian,’ he explains. ‘Then they will forward their results on to the Branch 27 of the Supreme Court, which will have the final decision on whether he is executed or not.’
DeMars says there are several ways the court can look at it according to the Shiite faith. He takes a look at the likely argument the government prosecutor will take.
‘He did not practice Islam his entire life,’ DeMars points out, ‘but they may simply look at it and say he was born into a Muslim home, he knew about Islam his whole life, and therefore we determine that by these definitions he was a Muslim and he should recant it.’
If Nadarkhani is determined to be a Muslim, the finding will be sent to the Supreme Court for a final determination — a process that could take up to six months. DeMars is convinced the only thing that will save the pastor from the hangman’s noose is prayer.” Source.

Texas: Dozens Test Positive for Exposure to Tuberculosis at Ennis High School
By Kevin Cokely – “At least 80 students, teachers and staff at Ennis High School have tested positive for exposure to tuberculosis.
The skin tests were ordered because a teacher now on medical leave was diagnosed with the bacterial infection just before the first day of school.
Dr. Brian Smith of the Texas Department of State Health Services, said people who a positive skin test normally are not sick and are not infectious.
‘What a positive skin test means is that a person has been exposed to the disease and they have picked up a tiny bit of the bacteria that has caused their body to react to the skin test, so in those persons you can kill the bacteria by giving a single medication for nine months,’ he said.
Those who tested positive are now being told to get chest X-rays at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie.
Sixteen-year-old Shabrekia Richardson found out Friday her skin test came back positive.
‘I was shocked,’ the high school junior said. ‘I actually started crying. … I just thought, ‘I’m in a school.’ I never thought in a school I could get something like this.'” Read more.

Japan: Typhoon Roke Heading Toward Leaking Fukushima Nuclear Plant as Contamination of Ocean Continues Unabated, Plutonium May Have Reached Coast of California
“Sept. 20 (Bloomberg) — Typhoon Roke brought evacuation orders and fears of floods to Nagoya city in central Japan today as it approached the main island of Honshu on a course toward the crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant.
More than 1 million people in Nagoya have been advised to evacuate because of Roke and almost 80,000 have been ordered to leave due to flood risk, said Katsuya Kobayashi in the city’s disaster prevention center.
That’s more than double the numbers for typhoon Talas earlier this month, which dumped record rainfall on southern Japan, causing mudslides and floods that killed 67 people and left 26 missing. Talas was the deadliest storm to hit Japan in seven years.” Read more.
