By Cheryl K. Chumley, The Washington Times – “An Islamic State terrorist bluntly told a VICE News journalist that his group is going to strike New York City any day now and that his radicalized ‘brothers’ are mobilizing at this very moment.

On the video, Farah Shirdon — also called Abu Usamah Somali — said: ‘[We] will make some attacks in New York soon,’ VICE News reported. ‘A lot of brothers there are mobilizing right now. … Mobilizing for a brilliant attack, my friend.’

Mr. Shirdon is a Canadian citizen who went to Iraq to fight with the Islamic State. In a different video that was released previously, he is seen burning his passport and vowing to wreak havoc on the United States and on Canada, The Blaze reported.

Mr. Shirdon also had a message for President Obama: ‘I hope Barack Obama listens to this message. I swear you infidel, I swear to almighty Allah, we will fight you until the end.’

He also made a couple of other points, saying that he knew that ‘thousands upon thousands’ of individuals in the West were ‘ready right now’ to strike, and that the Islamic State might stop its terror if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is ‘crucified for his war crimes,’ the video shows.” Source – The Washington Times.

By Masoud Popalzai and Jason Hanna, CNN – “A Taliban offensive in eastern Afghanistan left an estimated 100 civilians dead or wounded in the past week, including some women and children who were beheaded, a provincial deputy governor said Friday.

Hundreds of Taliban insurgents stormed Ghazni province’s Ajristan district last week, sparking intense, ongoing battles with Afghan security forces, said Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, Ghazni’s deputy governor. The Taliban have taken over a large number of villages in the area, he added.

The insurgents beheaded at least 15 people, including women and children, on Thursday, Ahmadi said.

The exact number of people killed in the last week isn’t known, in part because authorities don’t have an adequate communications system that could help tally the figures, Ahmadi said.

‘We only have local police forces and a small number of Afghan National Army personnel fighting a huge number of well-armed Taliban in the area,’ he said, adding that the country’s government in Kabul promised Friday that air support would be sent to the region.” Source – CNN.

Associated Press – “Iraq’s prime minister said Thursday his country’s intelligence operation has uncovered a plot for an imminent attack on subway systems in United States and Paris.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said he was told of the plot by Baghdad, and that it was the work of foreign fighters of the Islamic State group in Iraq. Asked if the attacks were imminent, he said, ‘Yes.’

Asked if the attacks had been thwarted, he said, ‘No.’ Al-Abadi said the United States had been alerted.

He made the remarks at a meeting with journalists on the sidelines of a gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly.

In addition to the brutality Islamic State has visited on the people of Iraq and Syria, western leaders have voiced concern that the group would turn its terror operations outside the region.

By Adam Kredo, The Washington Free Beacon – “President Barack Obama favorably quoted and praised on Wednesday in his speech before the United Nations a controversial Muslim cleric whose organization has reportedly endorsed the terror group Hamas and supported a fatwa condoning the murder of U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

Obama in his remarks offered praise to controversial cleric Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah and referred to him as a moderate Muslim leader who can help combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s (ISIL or ISIS) radical ideology.

WHowever, Bin Bayyah himself has long been engulfed in controversy for many of his views, including the reported backing of a 2004 fatwa that advocated violent resistance against Americans fighting in Iraq.

This is not the first time that the Obama administration has extoled Bin Bayyah, who also has served as the vice president of a Muslim scholars group founded by a radical Muslim Brotherhood leader who has called ‘for the death of Jews and Americans,’ according to Fox News and other reports.

The State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau (CT) was forced to issue multiple apologies earlier this year after the Washington Free Beacon reported on its promotion of Bin Bayyah on Twitter.

‘This should not have been tweeted and has since been deleted,’ the CT Bureau tweeted at the time after many expressed anger over the original endorsement of Bin Bayyah.
