“LAHORE, Pakistan, December 1 (CDN) — In an attempted land-grab in southern Punjab Province, police and cohorts of a retired military official beat two Christian women and shot at Christians who came to help them on Friday (Nov. 25), area Christians told Compass.

About eight police officials led by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Arif of Kot Sarwar Shaheed police station, along with armed associates of a retired senior military officer, Air Marshal Maqbool Shah, arrived at the fields of Nazeer Masih in the Kot Addu area and ordered the six or seven women working there to leave, said area Christian rights advocate Waseem Shakir. The women included Nazeer’s wife, Martha Bibi, and daughter-in-law, Nasreen Bibi.

The men told the workers that they had come to take possession of the 12.5 acres that Nazeer Masih owns in Mauza Sadiqabad area of Muzaffargarh district, which they claimed had now been allotted by the Revenue Department to the Pakistan Army for distribution among retired officials.

Martha Bibi told Compass the women were still in shock.

‘We were cultivating chickpeas when the Muslims arrived at our fields,’ she said. ‘They asked us to leave everything and never return because it was their land now. [We said] we have been cultivating the land since 1976, how could we just leave? This angered them, and they attacked us. They pulled away our headscarves from our heads and started hitting us indiscriminately with clubs and punches.’

About 800 Christians have lived in the Mauza Sadiqabad and Mauza Azizabad areas of Muzaffargarh district for the last 50 years, rights advocate Shakir told Compass by phone.

‘The Christians are settled on 10,000 acres of land which they made cultivable over the years,’ he said. ‘The land is actually owned by the government, but the Christians have been given ownership of the properties, and the record to this effect is present with the local revenue department.’

In the last few years Muslims have made several attempts to seize the land from the Christians, usually succeeding because Christians are a marginalized minority, while Muslims carry out illegal activities with impunity and official blessing, Shakir said.” Read more.

By Jim Kouri – “As Americans prepare to celebrate the Christmas holiday, many are unaware that religious observances are practically a luxury when compared with nations that continue to oppress, persecute and even kill followers of Jesus Christ, according to evangelical Christian leaders.

Christians in several countries find it difficult to practice even the fundamentals of their faith. To openly celebrate the birth of the man they believe is their Savior could be nothing short of a death sentence.

For example, officials in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea continue see Christianity as a threat to their philosophy of state control. While North Korean authorities deny imprisoning, torturing and killing Christians — in the same way they denied working on a nuclear weapon — Christians living North Korea have suffered government-sanctioned persecution since the brutal communist regime came to power.

A Christian human-rights group — Open Doors — reports that North Korea is number one on its annual World Watch List (WWL), which ‘ranks countries by the intensity of persecution that Christians face for actively pursuing their faith.’ However, North Korea is not the only country in which the Christian population are mistreated, abused and killed on a daily basis.

Syriac Christians have lived in the Muslim-dominated region for centuries and are but a small minority in countries such as Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Turkey. The protest march was organized in the wake of several violent attacks against the Christian community in Iraq, a segment of the population that fell from about 1.5 million to only 400,000 over the past decade.

As previously reported by the Law Enforcement Examiner, at least 52 Iraqi Christians were killed and over 60 injured in a terrorist inspired bloodbath at Baghdad’s Our Lady of Deliverance Catholic Church. U.S. special forces troops, together with Iraqi security forces, launched a rescue operation to free as many of the Christians being held hostage by their terrorist captors as possible.

The Al Qaeda-linked ‘Islamic State of Iraq’ claimed responsibility and threatened to ‘exterminate Iraqi Christians.’ This shadowy jihad terror network justified the savagery on religious grounds, claiming that the church was an ‘obscene nest of the polytheists [infidels]’ and a ‘base for their struggle against the religion of Islam.’ Read more…

By Mary Abdelmassih – “(AINA) — Thousands of Muslims attacked and besieged Copts in elGhorayzat village, population 80,000, killing two Copts and severely wounding others, as well as looting and torching homes and businesses. A quarrel between a Copt, John Hosni, and Mahmoud Abdel-Nazeer, who later died in hospital, turned into collective punishment of all Copts in the majority Christian village of elGhorayzat, in the Maragha district of Sohag province. Muslims vowed not to bury Abdel-Nazeer until John Hosni is punished. Mr. Hosni fled from the village with his family, ‘fearing a wholesale massacre of Copts,’ reported activist Mariam Ragy.

The events started on Monday, November 28, when John Hosni, a building supplier, had a quarrel with his neighbor, Mahmoud Abdel-Nazeer (48), over some steel rods and cement Mr. Hosni had left in the street to use for erecting a wall around his house. This was perceived by Mr. Abdel-Nazeer as extending the home into the street, which is public property. ‘Instead of reporting this building transgression to the police or local authorities, Abdel-Nazeer took the matter in his own hands and brought some Salafists and torched the store and the home of the Copt,’ said an eyewitness.

In the altercation between the neighbors, Mr. Hosni hit Abdel-Nazeer in the head with a wooden branch, which lead to his death later in hospital.

Angry Muslims murdered two Christian brothers, Kamel Tamer Ibrahim (55) and Kameel Tamer Ibrahim (50), in revenge. The brothers were not a party to the altercation. Kamel Tamer, who was defending his shop from looting, was murdered in front of his wife. His brother was also murdered in front of his wife for defending his home…” Read more.

By Matthew Clark – “The situation of Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani – who remains on death row in Iran for his faith – is gaining increased international attention.

The Mexican Senate is the latest international body to take a stand for Pastor Youcef, stating that it ‘condemns the death sentence handed down to Yousef Nadarkhani for religious reasons.’

In recent weeks and months, a number of nations and international bodies have joined American leaders in calling for Pastor Youcef’s release. Britain was one of the first nations to speak out against the ongoing atrocity being committed against Pastor Youcef, its Foreign Secretary calling ‘on the Iranian authorities to overturn his sentence.’

Canada and members of the Uruguayan Senate have also made statements calling for Pastor Youcef’s release. In addition, the Foreign Affairs Council and the Council for the European Union have released statements condemning Pastor Youcef’s conviction and execution sentence. The European Parliament also passed a resolution calling for Pastor Youcef’s release.

We appreciate the willingness of the international community, including the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran, to bring attention to Pastor Youcef’s plight, and we urge international Muslim leaders (none of whom have spoken out) to call for Pastor Youcef’s unconditional release. By Vento Saudale – “Hundreds of hard-line Muslims rallied outside the Bogor City Hall on Sunday to decry the ‘arrogance’ of a beleaguered church in the city that remains shuttered by authorities despite a Supreme Court order to open it.

The protesters, from Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia and the Indonesian Muslim Communication Forum (Forkami), said they wanted to show that all Muslims were united in opposition to the presence of the GKI Yasmin Church in the city.

‘We’re here to refute the arrogance of the church, which continues to insist on setting up in the Taman Yasmin [housing complex],’ said Achmad Imam, the Forkami head in Bogor.

The Bogor administration issued a building permit for the church in 2006, but it revoked it two years later, alleging the church had falsified the signatures required to obtain it.

The Supreme Court ruled in December 2010 that the closure was unlawful and ordered its reopening, but the city administration continues to ignore the ruling. Mayor Diani Budiarto has used several excuses to keep the church closed, most recently saying there should not be a Christian church on a street with an Islamic name.

A peaceful, hard-working Christian is fired because she complained about being harassed by fundamentalist Muslims.  But extremists — who hate the West, openly support terrorism and have no qualms about declaring their intentions to force ‘infidel’ Westerners to convert to Islam — are treated like royalty and still allowed to work at a major international airport, of all places.  I should be surprised, but I’m not.  I can only imagine what it’ll take for the powers that be in Britain and elsewhere to tackle the real root of the problem that is gleefully destroying Western civilization…

By Craig Mackenzie – “A worker who claims she was the victim of a race-hate campaign by fundamentalist Muslims because of her Christian beliefs has launched a landmark case against her former employers.

Nouhad Halawi, a saleswoman at Heathrow Airport’s World Duty Free shop, said she and other Christian staff were systematically harassed by Muslims.

She alleged the intimidation included:

• Bullying a friend at the airport for wearing crosses.
• Muslims telling her she would go to hell if she didn’t convert.
• A Muslim colleague insisting she read the Koran. And;
• That Jews were responsible for the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Mrs Halawi lost her job at the perfume counter in Terminal 3 in July after 13 years when she spoke out about bullying by a small group of ‘extremist’ Muslims at the airport.

The mother-of-two had been the subject of a complaint by an Islamic colleague but when she raised her own concerns as a Christian, she said she was the one who was dismissed.

Her case for unfair dismissal is being supported by the Christian Legal Centre, who believe it raises important legal issues over whether Muslims and Christians are treated differently by employers.

Mrs Halawi, 47, who came to Britain from Lebanon in 1977, said: ‘I have been sacked on the basis of unsubstantiated complaints.

‘There is now great fear amongst my former colleagues that the same could happen to them if one of the Muslims turns on them.

‘This is supposed to be a Christian country, but the law seems to be on the side of the Muslims.’

She says that she had always got on well with her Muslim colleagues,but the atmosphere changed with a growing number of employees promoting ‘fundamentalist Islam’.

Mrs Halawi told the Sunday Telegraph: ‘One man brought in the Koran to work and insisted I read it and another brought in Islamic leaflets and handed them out to other employees.

‘They said that 9/11 served the Americans right and that they hated the West, but that they had come here because they want to convert people to Islam.” Read more.

There is no longer a single Christian church left in Afghanistan. Why just stop there? There is something seriously wrong with this picture when thousands of American and coalition men & women have sacrificed their lives upon the altar of freedom for an Islamic country, only to have the freedoms of their own brothers and sisters in arms slowly stripped away so that the ones we’ve ‘freed’ aren’t offended.  When even the greatest military power in the world — the defenders of the “land of the free” — takes down the cross and falls into submission to the prison of Islam and political correctness, let it be a reminder to each of us why we must, more than ever, take it up each and every day …

By TIM MAK – “A large cross that had been prominently displayed outside a chapel on an isolated military base in northern Afghanistan was taken down last week, prompting outrage from some American service members stationed there.

‘We are here away from our families, and the chapel is the one place that feels like home,’ a service member at Camp Marmal told POLITICO. ‘With the cross on the outside, it is a constant reminder for all of us that Jesus is here for us.’

‘Not having it there is really upsetting,’ added another. ‘I walk by the chapel daily on the way to chow and the gym, and seeing the cross is a daily reminder of my faith and what Jesus accomplished for me. It is daily inspiration and motivation for me to acknowledge my faith and stay on the right path.’

Camp Marmal is a German base that hosts NATO forces. The interfaith chapel in question is supervised by the U.S. Army.

The soldiers said they found great comfort in the chapel — and the cross visible outside. ‘Sometimes the Church and the ability to openly express religious views ultimately gets people through the deployments over here,’ one told POLITICO by email.

The service member said he asked the base chaplain, a military officer, what had happened to the cross. ‘I had to take it down,’ said the chaplain, according to the solider, without further explanation.” Read more.

As protests grip the Egyptian capital of Cairo, and Islamic fundamentalists gain in confidence there and elsewhere across the region, the hopes of Western leaders for a new era of democracy across the Middle East have been exposed as hopelessly naïve.

For far from paving the way for freedom and pluralism, the uprisings have led only to more intolerance, authoritarianism and division.

The sense of darkening crisis in Egypt this week is a disturbing example of this trend…

At first, participation in the Tahrir Square demonstrations this month was a way for the Brotherhood to flex its muscles. But few Islamists are now occupying the square.

Unlike the progressives and liberals, they are not seeking a showdown with the military. What they really want is an accommodation, a compromise that will smooth their way to power.

Democracy and liberty have no appeal to them. In fact, they regard them as features of Western, secular decadence.

All their attention is focused on becoming the largest political force in the elections next week. And they are almost certain to achieve this goal, since they are by far the best organised, most well-known political movement in Egypt.

The implementation of their hardline religious agenda will follow, including the implementation of Islamist sharia law.

This is bad news for Israel, already isolated in the Middle East, since the Muslim Brotherhood wants to tear up the current peace deal, which was negotiated by President Anwar Sadat in 1979.

It is also bad news for Egypt’s Coptic Christian minority, which makes up around ten per cent of the population.

In recent months, they have suffered appallingly from a brutal pincer movement made up of the military on one side and the Islamists on the other.

Massacres, individual beatings, and the desecration of churches are all characteristic of this savagery.” Read more.

By ANDREW AJIJAH – “Residents of Razat in Barkinladi Local Government Area of Plateau State yesterday morning woke up to the sad news of the death of no fewer than three people who were reportedly hacked to death by unknown assailants in Razat village.

The attack, according to an eyewitness took place at bout 7:00 pm on Sunday evening. The source confirmed that the mayhem was carried out by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen, who killed three men during the attack on the village. Those who witnessed the incident said that the unfortunate victims, Jacob Davou, Ezekiel Ishaku and Ishaya Bulus were returning from Barkin- Ladi town Headquarters of the council when they met their untimely death.

The eyewitness while speaking to our reporter insisted that the assailants created an illegal check point laid ambush for the villagers who were coming on two motorcycles, they gunned them down and inflicted machetes cuts on their bodies.

Confirming the incident, Media Officer of the Special Task-force on Jos crisis, Captain Charles Ekoecha said, the command was on top of the situation, the attack was coming after two month of relative peace in the state, following redeployment of the Chief of Army staff to take charge of the internal security of the state as directed by the President Jonathan.

It was gathered that one of the victims who were on the motorcycle survives the attacked and effort to speak with him was not successful as the Special Task Force in charge of internal security in Jos were said to have picked him for further investigation.

The villagers identified the deceased as Jacob Davou aged 32, married with one kid, Ezekiel Ishaku aged 28, married with one kid and Ishaya Bulus aged 25 not married.” Read more.

Have we sought victory with the Deen of Allah, meaning have we sought victory with the Sharia of Allah? … If America attacks us then we will be ready by the will of Allah. But who is capable of making war with Allah, and stand up against Allah if you seek victory with Allah?  If you seek victory with the Sharia of Allah? Where are we now in regards to seeking the victory from Allah and even in regards to the political groups that have been established that are scared to talk about the Sharia? Maybe it is just politics or tactics as they say and claim? However the intentions (against Islam) have appeared clearly, as well as the plotting night and day in making war against the Sharia of Allah. Oh you who believe. If you seek victory with Allah he will give you victory. So where is the Nusrah (seeking victory) for the Deen of Allah? On the levels of the individuals, families, groups and states? Flashback: Egypt: Rising Islamic Leader Declares ‘We Will Launch a Campaign of Islamic Conquest Throughout the World’, ‘Exterminate’ Christians Who Get In the Way of Sharia – “A rising leader in the radical Islamic movement in Egypt that has become a major political player since the demise of Hosni Mubarak’s regime says Christian churches may need to be blown up and Christians exterminated to allow the advance of Islamic law, or Shariah. The comments come from Sheik ‘Adel Shehato, a senior leader with the Egyptian Islamic Jihad terrorist group… The sheik, a senior jihadist leader, responded to a question about using violence against Christians, who make up a substantial minority in Egypt.” Read more.

“NAIROBI, Kenya, November 17 (CDN) — One Christian left his native Somalia 10 years ago and another fled as Muslim extremists were bombing his house earlier this year, but both Somali converts from Islam feel they are still in danger in Kenya.

In February, Islamic extremists from the al Shabaab militia fighting for control of Somalia reduced Mohammed Abdi Mose’s house in Mogadishu to ashes as he evacuated his family, the 54-year-old father of seven told Compass. His head bears a scar where shrapnel struck, and he requires medicine to limit the injury’s damage to his memory.

‘It was midnight, and it was raining,’ he said. ‘No moonlight; no light; I said, ‘We are moving.’ Amid the bullets and mortar shells, I had four kids on me, and my wife had three kids on her, with the older boy and girl walking – the smaller ones were on us.’

About 150 people died that night in military fighting, but Mose said it was no accident that his house was targeted. Earlier that month the Muslim extremists, who had suspected he was a convert to Christianity as he had worked for Christian Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), confirmed that he had come to faith in Christ and was therefore worthy of death.

They tied his hands behind him and began hitting him with sticks and metallic objects, he said.

He sustained a deep cut on his heel. They stomped on his stomach, damaging his urinary system, he said. Neighbors who heard his cries came out in large numbers, forcing the attackers to flee. Mose said he knew then it was time to relocate.” Read more.
