Greece: Authorities Concerned As Muslim Attacks Against Churches Increase In Crete

To Islamists and their leftist enablers, leaving Arabic graffiti on Christian churches is simply an Islamic way of engaging in a bit of interfaith dialogue …

Pravoslavis – “Cases of vandalism in churches of Heraklion and graffiti in Arabic left by criminals, which have become more frequent, are causing the authorities and the Archdiocese of Crete serious concern, reports Sedmitza.ru, citing the Greek agency Romphea.

Another crime of this kind has been committed in a very small church of St. Marina not far from the village of Avgenika.

As it was in the previous cases, the criminals or criminal acted in the same way. The icons inside the church were removed from the walls, stacked on the altar, then doused with an inflammable liquid and set on fire, reports the Patris newspaper.

Moreover, the criminals or criminal left graffiti on the walls in Arabic or in some other Oriental language.

The vandal attack happened at noon. The crime was discovered by the village residents, who saw smoke from the burning icons pouring out of the church windows. They also reported that they had seen a strange car moving near Avgenika.” Source – Pravoslavis.

‘The Situation In Gaza Is Very Bad’: Hamas Cracking Down On Christians, Forcing Them To Convert To Islam

This is only a taste of what is coming. As of right now, Christians in the Middle East are still largely tolerated as “dhimmis” and therefore able to offer up the sacrifice of praise to YHWH today. But this could all come to an abrupt end if a figure of great significance in the Islamic world were to stand against the Temple of God and demands that all stop worshiping YHWH and convert to Islam, or else. We’ve already seen some Muslim leaders issuing fatwas (religious decrees) in places like Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan demanding that Christians either convert to Islam, or die. A fatwa like this issued against Jews and Christians by someone like the Mahdi, for instance, would send immediate shockwaves all throughout the Islamic world. If such a decree were to happen “then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matt 24:21) …

MidEast Christian News – “Dr. Hazem Abu Shanab, a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council, told MCN that Hamas, in association with the Muslim Brotherhood, is controlling the Gaza Strip by force of arms, and is cracking down on Christians and restricting their freedom of worship. It is also trying to force them to abandon Christianity and convert to Islam, he said.

Hamas has reacted violently against Christians in issues related to this, said Shanab. He explained that there are ongoing attacks on churches and Christians in the Gaza Strip because Hamas considers Christians ‘infidels.’

Abu Shanab said Hamas modified academic textbooks for this academic year to serve its own plans and ‘radical ideas.’ Muslims and Christians in Gaza are experiencing restrictions on freedoms, and do not have the basic needs for life, such as food, drink and medicine, he said.

Speaking to MCN, Abu Shanab said the situation in Gaza is very bad, because an armed group affiliated to Hamas is controlling the situation. This group claims to rule by law and has legitimacy, he said. Hamas, on the other hand, is cracking down on Christians’ freedom to worship and trying to force them to embrace Islam.

‘There are encroachments on Christian and Islamic houses of worship because the military administration of Hamas has the upper hand, and such attacks particularly target churches and Christians, who are considered ‘infidels,’ which leads to more violence against them,’ he said.” Read more.

Nigeria: Baptist High School Principal, Teachers Beaten To A Pulp In Osun State By Angry Muslims

By  Oluwole Ige – Osogbo, Nigerian Tribune – “There was confusion in the ancient town of Ejigbo in Osun State, on Monday, as the principal and some teachers of Baptist High School were beaten to a state of coma.

The incident, which occurred around 8.00 a.m, heightened tension in the town as many were apprehensive that the crisis might snowball into a clash between Christians and Muslims in the town.

Trouble ensued when some unknown persons  invaded the office of the principal, identified as Mr Layi Oguntola, where they  made some enquiries and subsequently pounced on him, beating him to a pulp.

Our correspondent was informed that the school authorities had, last Friday, sent a female student home for allegedly using veil (hijab) while in the school, a development which infuriated some Muslims.

But Muslim youths in the town mobilised themselves and stormed the school to demand an apology from the school principal, and when he refused to grant their demand, he was malhandled.

Similarly, some teachers were also attacked by the irate youths with dangerous weapons, such as axes, cutlass and charms.

Worried by the incident, the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyesosin, was said to have intervened  and ordered that the principal and other affected teachers be moved to his palace to ensure their safety.

Baptist High School, Ejigbo, was a missionary school, but the school reclassification programme of the state government had affected its nomenclature, as students from other schools were merged with students of the school.

About two months ago, similar incident had occured at the Baptists Girls High School, Osogbo and Baptist High School, Iwo, where some Christians protested the merger policy, leading to chaos.” Source – Nigerian Tribune.

Nigeria: Islamists Slaughter Dozens Of Christians In Plauteau State

Morning Star News – “Suspected Muslim herdsmen slaughtered 37 Christians in coordinated attacks on four Plateau state villages early this morning after Boko Haram terrorists killed at least 34 Christians in Borno state earlier this month, sources said.

In attacks on the four predominantly Christian villages that started at 1 a.m. in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area in Plateau State in central Nigeria, ethnic Fulani herdsmen killed 37 people, injured many others and destroyed homes, the military’s Special Task Force spokesman, Salisu Mustapha, said in a press statement.

‘The attackers killed 13 persons in Katu Kapang, eight in Daron, nine in Tul and seven others in Rawuru,’ he said.

Mustapha told Morning Star News by phone that the heavily-armed assailants were believed to be Muslim Fulani herdsmen. Soldiers were still trying to repel the attackers as he spoke.

The Miyetti Allah cattle-rearing association reportedly denied that Fulani herdsmen were responsible for attacking the villages.

Most mainstream media mentioned vague accusations of cattle theft or unsupported statements of political and land disputes as possible motivations for the attacks, although in recent months Muslim Fulani herdsmen have increased the unprovoked slaughter of unarmed Christians in their homes that has taken place for several years in Plateau state.

Christian leaders otherwise at a loss to explain the increase in attacks believe Islamic extremist groups are inciting Fulani Muslims to attack them in Plateau state as well as in Kaduna, Bauchi, Nasarawa and Benue states. They fear that the herdsmen, with backing from Islamic extremist groups, want to take over the predominantly Christian areas in order to acquire land for grazing, stockpile arms and expand Islamic territory. Hit-and-run, guerrilla-style attacks on Christian villages in which children are shot to death as they sleep support their suspicion that the assaults are motivated by desire to eliminate Christianity.” Read more.

Syria: Islamist Rebels Take Over Town, Hunt Down Christians

Why wait to hunt down Christians after Syria is “liberated” when they can easily do it now? …

Agenzia Fides – “Militants of Islamist factions have invaded the town of Deir Atieh, north of Damascus, spreading terror, death and destruction. As Fides sources in the Greek Orthodox Church report, the attack took place on 22 November. The militants entered the municipal hospital and took hostage the sick. The museum of Deir Atieh that welcomed thousands of works and precious archaeological finds was devastated. Mosques and churches were hit and damaged. Numerous homes were looted and civilians captured and used as human shields.

The situation is particularly worrying for Christians. The population, about 25 thousand people, have begun to flee. The militiamen examine the identification documents of those who intend to leave the city and retain those who have Christian names. To be able to leave the village, a Greek Orthodox priest had to say he was married and present himself with a woman: he was allowed to go just because he had an Arab name and had no ancestry or Christian reference.

Fr. F.H., who in a note sent to Fides requested anonymity for security reasons, pleads the international community and the Holy See to mobilize in order to arrange for the release of the hostages and save the village of Deir Atieh. It is not clear, notes the source of Fides, what prompted the armed gangs to penetrate the village. Even hundreds of people from Qara, another Syrian village in the mountains of Qalamoun, 90 km from Damascus had found refuge. In recent weeks, Qara had been attacked by Islamist fighters from the city of Arzal. Among the refugees of Qara, who moved to Deir Atieh, there is also the Greek-Catholic priest Father George Luis and all his parishioners.” Source – Agenzia Fides.

Pakistan: 13-Year-Old Girl Abducted, Forced To Convert To Islam And Marry Muslim Man

The little girl was abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and forced to marry Syed Munawar Hussain, a Muslim of 32 years . Naseem Bibi, the child’s mother asks AsiaNews for ‘any help possible. I want my daughter back and I want justice.’ So far, the woman has gone to the police, but without success.

It all started on 20 June.  Saba ‘s family is poor and had to remove her from school because of economic difficulties. Usually she would accompany her mother to work, but that day she was not well and preferred to stay at home. In the few hours in which she was alone, Hussain broke into the house and abducted her. Naseem Bibi returned home in the afternoon and not being able to find her daughter was on her way to report her missing, when the Muslim kidnapper’s a mother, sister and a brother showed up and told her that Munawar Hussain had taken Saba .

Naseem wanted to go to the police, but  the others asked her to wait four days, during which they would try to find a way to bring back her daughter. A couple of days later , she received a phone call from Saba, who said: ‘Munawar Hussain has kidnapped me and tried to force me convert to Islam’. Soon after, the call was cut off.

Once the four days were up, the man’s mother and sister returned to Naseem Bibi and said that Saba was married to Munawar and that she had converted to Islam. ‘Do not go to the police or court – they threatened her  – or you will be responsible for serious consequences. She is a Muslim now: stop thinking about her, forget her’…” Read more.

Islamists Unleash New Tactic In Its War To Obliterate Christianity In Northern Nigeria: Convert Or Die

Two gunmen from Boko Haram kidnapped Hajja, a 19- year-old Christian in July as she picked corn near her village in the Gwoza hills, a remote part of northeastern Nigeria where a six-month-old government offensive is struggling to contain an insurgency by Boko Haram.

‘If I cried, they beat me. If I spoke, they beat me. They told me I must become a Muslim but I refused again and again,’ Hajja told Reuters in an interview.

The Islamists threatened her with a knife pressed to her throat and said her options were to convert to Islam or die.

Aaron Jensen, a spokesman for the United States government’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday, ‘We have seen reports of forced conversion and enslavement.

The United States strongly condemns any acts of forced conversion or enslavement if true. These alleged actions violate fundamental human rights, including the right to freedom of conscience.’

Boko Haram is generally translated as ‘Western education is sinful.’ In a telephone interview with the Post about Boko Haram and radical Islamist groups, David Cook, a professor of religious studies at the Houston-based Rice University, said Boko Haram’s methods are ‘part of a pattern you can find in a lot of groups, Salafi Jihadists, for example, in Syria.’

Cook, a leading expert on Boko Haram, estimates core membership to be a few thousand to perhaps as many as 5,000.

Tiffany Lynch, senior policy analyst at the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, told the Post by email that ‘Boko Haram’s stated goal is the implementation of Shari’a nationwide and in 2012 called on all Christians to leave northern Nigeria. With this goal, Boko Haram attacks churches during worship services to maximize its killing, kills individual Christians, forces Christians to convert to Islam or die, kills persons engaged in what it believes is ‘un-Islamic’ behavior, and kills Muslim critics.’

Lynch added that from January 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013, USCIRF found that Boko Haram had initiated religiously motivated attacks on 50 churches that were ‘bombed, burned or attacked, killing at least 366 persons.” She continued that there were 31 seperate attacks on Christians or southerners perceived to be Christian, ‘killing at least 166 persons.'” Read more.

‘Largest Massacre Of Christians In Syria’ Ignored

By Raymond Ibrahim, Frontpage Mag – “The worst Christian massacre—complete with mass graves, tortured-to-death women and children, and destroyed churches—recently took place in Syria, at the hands of the U.S.-supported jihadi ‘rebels’; and the U.S. government and its ‘mainstream media’ mouthpiece are, as usual, silent (that is, when not actively trying to minimize matters).

The massacre took place in Sadad, an ancient Syriac Orthodox Christian habitation, so old as to be mentioned in the Old Testament.  Most of the region’s inhabitants are poor, as Sadad is situated in the remote desert between Homs and Damascus (desert regions, till now, apparently the only places Syria’s Christians could feel secure; 600 Christian families had earlier fled there for sanctuary from the jihad, only to be followed by it).

In late October, the U.S-supported ‘opposition’ invaded and occupied Sadad for over a week, till ousted by the nation’s military.  Among other atrocities, 45 Christians—including women and children—were killed, several tortured to death; Sadat’s 14 churches, some ancient, were ransacked and destroyed; the bodies of six people from one family, ranging from ages 16 to 90, were found at the bottom of a well (an increasingly common fate for ‘subhuman’ Christians).

The jihadis even made a graphic video (with English subtitles) of those whom they massacred, while shouting Islam’s victory-cry, ‘Allahu Akbar’ (which John McCain equates to a Christian saying ‘thank God’).  Another video, made after Sadad was liberated shows more graphic atrocities.

Here are the words of Archbishop Selwanos Boutros Alnemeh, Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of Homs and Hama (another detailed account, with pictures, appears here):

What happened in Sadad is the most serious and biggest massacre of Christians in Syria in the past two years and a half… 45 innocent civilians were martyred for no reason, and among them several women and children, many thrown into mass graves. Other civilians were threatened and terrorized. 30 were wounded and 10 are still missing. For one week, 1,500 families were held as hostages and human shields. Among them children, the elderly, the young, men and women….  All the houses of Sadad were robbed and property looted. The churches are damaged and desecrated, deprived of old books and precious furniture…  What happened in Sadad is the largest massacre of Christians in Syria and the second in the Middle East, after the one in the Church of Our Lady of Salvation in Iraq, in 2010.

In the Iraqi attack of 2010, al-Qaeda linked jihadis stormed the church during service killing some 60 Christian worshippers (see here for graphic images of the aftermath).

While the archbishop is correct that this is the ‘largest massacre of Christians in Syria,’ it is but the tip of the iceberg of the persecution the nation’s Christian minority has suffered—including beheadings, church bombings, kidnappings, rapes, and dislocation of hundreds of thousands of Christians—since the war broke out …” Read more.

Report: Norwegian Anchorwoman Wearing Cross Necklace Suspended For Offending The Perpetually Offended

Siv Kristin Sællmann, a Christian, was given the cross necklace by her husband as a Christmas gift in 2012. Coming up at 6:00 on NRK news, the Muslim community in Norway says they are offended that non-Muslims refuse to wear headscarves, veils and burkas …

Pravda – “Popular Norwegian TV presenter Siv Kristin Sællmann was suspended from her job for appearing on air with a cross on her chest. The woman’s appearance on the screen with a gold pendant, decorated with black diamonds in the shape of a Christian symbol, caused outrage among a part of viewers.

Members of the local Muslim community organized protests claiming that ‘a chain with a cross insulted Islam.’ According to them, displaying the Christian symbol did not guarantee the impartiality of the TV channel.

As a result, the director of NRK television channel was forced to hold a conversation with the newsreader, after which she was suspended from her duties not to become a source of discord and crimes.” Source – Pravda.

Malaysia Chronicle – “Shocking disrespect towards one of Sarawak’s most treasured historical figures has come to light, with this image of a Rajah Brooke memorial cross, plucked from its position outside the Governor’s Mansion in Kuching and dumped in a junk heap.

The white marble cross had stood in front of the Astana, as a memorial to three Brooke children, who were lost at sea.

It provided a poignant Christian symbol, with the famous phrase ‘suffer little children to come unto me’ wrapped round its simple stem.

But, now as these exclusive photographs reveal, it has been unceremoniously ripped from its position and dumped lopsidedly alongside discarded junk, as an enormous building renovation gets underway.

At a time when extremist groups have started loudly targeting Christians and other faiths in Malaysia, this careless attitude towards a religious and historical symbol in Sarawak is particularly disquieting.

The militant Islamist ‘NGO’ Perkasa, has just announced it plans to open a branch of its agitator organisation in the state. Imagine the fury of its members if such a desecration had been meted out on a symbol that was held dear to Muslims instead? …

Onlookers have been increasingly amazed at the sheer scale of the ‘renovation works’ that have been taking place in the heart of the capital, on the once green banks opposite the town centre.

The gracious, low-level, colonial-style mansion was built by the second Rajah and is a nostalgic piece of period architecture.

It has already been recently over-shadowed by the high-rise, gold roofed ‘hat’ that forms the new DUN Assembly, built of course by the Chief Minister’s family company CMS.

But, now it appears that it is about to be dwarfed and destroyed by what the signage describes as a new ‘administrative wing’, which looks to be far larger than the original palace itself.

Mario Joseph was born in an ordinary Muslim Indian family. His father prepared him—the third among six brothers—as a spiritual leader: thus, aged 10, Mario entered a Koranic school, and when he returned from it at the age of 18, he became an Imam-khatib in a local village Mosque.

However, the young man turned to Christ, and this choice made him a target even for his own father who, having known about his son’s conversion to another faith, threatened to kill him. Moreover, his father erected a gravestone in advance in a local Muslim cemetery with the epitaph containing the young man’s name and date of birth.

The Spanish radio station Сadena Сope managed to talk with this young Catholic preacher and learn certain facts from the history of his tremendous trials.

‘From age 18, I was an imam and regularly delivered sermons,’ begins Joseph. ‘One Friday I was fervently talking about Isa al-Masih [Jesus the Messiah], saying that He was not Allah. When I finished my speech, someone asked me: ‘But, after all, who is the Messiah?’ On that day I could not find a proper answer; my knowledge in this sphere was extremely poor’.

Again and again Mario returned to the Koran, to the Muslim Holy Tradition (the Sunna), to various commentaries of the exegetes of authority, but could not find the answer. To the contrary, he noticed instead that the only woman’s name mentioned in the Koran, was the Name of the Most Holy Mary; moreover, according to tradition Muhammad died, while Isa was taken to Heaven alive. ‘Then, after long thought, I decided to leave the dead one and to follow the Living one,’ explained the young man.

Oops: Christian Accused Of Blasphemy In India And Subsequently Mutilated By Muslims Is Acquitted

Naturally, whether this man did anything wrong or not is irrelevant. In the eyes of Islam, the fact that he refuses to become a Muslim and remains a Christian in and of itself effectively accuses “Allah” and his “prophet” of being a liar. And that, of course, is just plain “blasphemous” …

By Nirmala Carvalho, AsiaNews – “TJ Joseph , a Christian teacher accused of blasphemy in 2010, following which a group of strangers cut off his right hand and part of the arm, has finally been acquitted. The court of Thodupuzha in Kerala today heard the appeal filed by the teacher and acquitted him of all charges. A ruling, Sajan George , president of the Global Council of Indian Christians ( GCIC ) told AsiaNews, ‘for which we must thank the Indian judicial system . The case of Professor Joseph was one of the darkest pages in Kerala’s recent history .’

It is March 2010, the teacher, a professor at Newman College, was accused of blasphemy by the Islamic fundamentalist group Popular Front of India ( PFI ) . According to the extremists, he added offensive questions about Muhammad to an exam questionnaire. Under constant threats, the man apologized publicly for his ‘unintentional error ‘ .

A few months later, however , a group of strangers attacked him in Muvattupuzha ( Ernakulam district ) , cutting off the hand and part of his right arm . TJ Joseph survived the attack, but in September the same year the school authorities fired him, without any possibility of a pension.

According to Sajan George , the most serious aspects of this episode ‘was the attitude of the police, who registered the complaint against him and also arrested him, and of the institution , which has suspended him from duty . Fortunately, the Mahatma Gandhi University, to which Newman College is affiliated, revoked the decision of the school authorities and have offered him his job back.'” Source – AsiaNews.
