Charisma News – “A Christian youth leader has been murdered in Tanzania and two others seriously injured.

World Watch Monitor reports machete-wielding assailants attacked the men during an all-night worship service at Gilgal Christian Worship Center, near Lake Victoria.

The man killed was identified as Elias Lunyamila Meshack, a 35-year-old youth leader. The bishop of the church said the motive of the attack is unclear, but it was not a robbery.

‘I don’t think this was robbery because the aim of robbers is to steal money and other items, yet nothing was stolen here,’ Bishop Eliabu Sentozi reportedly said.

Christians in Tanzania have been victims of Muslim persecution over the past few years.

Several pastors and church members have been killed, while other believers have suffered acid attacks. Churches have been bombed or torched and properties have been destroyed.” Source – Charisma News.

CWN – “Youth associated with the Muslim Brotherhood attempted to attack the Church of Our Lady of Zeitoun in Cairo on November 1, according to an AsiaNews report.

‘The group — which came directly from Friday prayers in the mosque next door — clashed with some young Christians, who prevented the Islamists from storming the building,’ the news agency reported. The incident was recorded on videotape and posted online by MidEast Christian News.

The Coptic Orthodox church is famous in Egypt for its alleged Marian apparitions, which reportedly took place between 1968 and 1971, and were witnessed by thousands of Egyptians.” Source – CWN.

As recently revealed on CTV, in a village called Maghlaga, in the district of Malawi—where Muslim Brotherhood supporters earlier ransacked and plundered a museum housing Egyptian antiquities—a Muslim gang leader known as ‘Saddam’ has been going to every one of the approximately 80 Coptic households in the village demanding jizya/extortion money from them.

One inhabitant of the village confirmed that Muslim Brotherhood members are behind Saddam, specifically informing him how much money each household can be squeezed of, so that most households are paying anywhere from 20,000-100,000 Egyptian pounds (from 3-15 thousand U.S. dollars).

Yasser, the village resident reporting, said that Saddam told the Copts that ‘Everyone is going to pay and whoever doesn’t pay we’ll take his son, his wife—we’ll violate the people to the utmost extreme.’

During the live news show it was further revealed that in the region of Shubrat al-Khaima, another young Coptic child was kidnapped, with demands that his parents pay 250,000 EP (nearly 40,000 USD). After the father complied and met them alone with the money in a secret place, the kidnappers took the money, beat the father severely, and still kept his child.

Such hate for Egypt’s Christians is hardly unprecedented. Earlier another Muslim man kidnapped a 6-year-old Christian boy and, after the family paid the ransom, still killed the child and threw his body in his sewer.” Source – Jihad Watch.

Arif Masih and Tariq Masih are owners of a store where they sell fireworks in Thatta Faqirullah (Wazirabad , Punjab ) . On October 27 they sold Muhammad Zahid a set of fireworks for his wedding party. Since some of them failed to go off, some of the wedding guests opened them to see why they did not work and found that the powders were wrapped in pages containing verses of the Koran. The discovery shocked the newlyweds and their guests who immediately destroyed the store of both Christians and denounced the two to the police.

Tariq Masih tells AsiaNews : ‘We do not manufacture fireworks, we buy them from a factory near Gujranwala and we do not know what materials they use. Moreover, these factories are owned by Muslims and no Christian works inside there.’

Tariq adds : ‘We have not even touched the pages of the Koran. The idea of using these pages for fireworks is beyond all imagination because we are well aware of the consequences.’

The people of Thatta Faqirullah did not believe the two Christians and called on the police to arrest them and an exemplary punishment for those who insult Islam. Several have threatened that if the police do not act, they will hunt and kill them to the two blasphemers themselves.” Read more.

Ahmed Bhatti and Muslim home owners of area ordered their Christians tenants to convert to Islam otherwise vacate their properties. They have vacated some shops that were run by Christians. One Christian man had his Gospel music on in the shop; they beat him up and kicked him out from that shop on gunpoint. Tundra Tabloids – “A man dressed in a Muslim outfit broke the windows of a Roihuvuori church and shouted threats in front of the church on Tuesday evening. The police have taken into custody the ethnic Finnish male suspected of the offense, who took attacked the church on the night of the YLE 2′s Ajankohtaisen Kakkosen Islam evening.

There were a number of eye-witnesses . They said that the man came to the church, from the mosque on the opposite side. The man was dressed in a pale Muslim robe.

– The window to the Church’s main door was smashed with the throwing of very large sized rock. It was at the same time as the program [of the Kakkosen Islam night] was going on. The case is now being handled by the police, says the vicar of the parish Roihuvuori Timo Pekka Kaskinen to Radio Dei .

At the time of the incident, the cantor was practicing with volunteers at the Roihuvuori church,

– I was able to meet up with the Cantor later that night. While this was obviously a very daunting experience, Kaskinen described.

The police were summed to the Church and the broken glass was repaired. The man behaved in a threatening manner to the glass repairman who quickly arrived at the scene. eyewitnesses have recounted that the perpetrator refused to allow the worker to repair the window and said that the act was a message of warning to the church.

– According to him[the repairman] it was a threatening situation, but very quickly over, Kaskinen says.

After leaving the church  the Muslim dressed returned to the mosque, where the police arrested the man. The vicar Timo Pekka Kaskinen does not want to guess the motive.” Read more.

By Jibran Khan, AsiaNews – “A Pakistani court has indicted three people for proffering death threats against the family of Boota Masih, 58, a Christian man killed in mid-September in an incident involving accusations of blasphemy. Siding with the dead man’s family, activists with Life for All and the Masihi Foundation, along with Church and civil society leaders, have called on the authorities to arrest the murderer and do something to stop the persecution of the Masihs’ who are only guilty of being Christian. Unfortunately, they are up against the usual reticence (if not the connivance) of police and prosecutors in such cases.

Everything began for the Masih family on 16 September when Muhammad Asif killed their main breadwinner after accusing him of blasphemy. The Muslim businessman attacked his victim at the Liaqatabad Gold Market in Karachi in broad daylight. Using a knife, he cut his throat, finishing him off with a dozen stabs, all this in the plain view of other workers and some police officers, who did not intervene and left the murderer all the time he needed to escape unmolested.

The next day, a member of the Liaqatabad Jewellers Association belatedly came to the dead man’s defence, saying that he ‘had never seen or heard him speaking against anyone, ever.’ The victim had worked at the market for 30 years.

For his family, the accusation of blasphemy was but an excuse to kill him, a way to remove a business rival. When they reported the murder, police initially refused to start an investigation.

The story took a turn for the worse when, on 24 October, a group of armed men broke into the Masih home, threatening to kill its members if they did not withdraw their complaint and convert to Islam.

Instead of complying with the threats, the Masihs went to police the next day to file another complaint. Last Sunday, law enforcement authorities took into custody Muhammad Nadeem and two accomplices, for carrying out the punitive raid against the bereaved family. Yesterday, their case went before a judge. Still, the murderer Muhammad Asif is still a fugitive.

Fr Arshad Gill, a priest in Karachi, spoke to AsiaNews about this ‘sad story’ in which the victim is ‘an innocent man’ and his family is told to convert to Islam or die. For him, the case epitomises the situation of Pakistan’s minorities, forced to live ‘in conditions of profound insecurity’ in which events such as this one tend to exacerbate the situation.” Read more.
