Dolphin Death Toll Rises in Southern California, Experts Look for Answers
“In the past three days, five more common dolphins have washed up on Southern California beaches, dead or dying, bringing the total death toll to 16 dolphins and one Dall’s porpoise since April 1.
‘The dolphins that are washing up on the beaches are a window to what’s going on in the ocean’s environment,’ said Joe Cordaro, a National Marine Fisheries wildlife biologist. ‘Undoubtedly more animals are dying at sea. It’s just impossible to say how many.’
Most have washed ashore from Malibu to Newport Beach, including recent strandings at Rat Beach, Manhattan Beach and here in Hermosa Beach.” Read more.
Texas Governor Calls for Prayers for Rain Amid Fires
By Elliott Blackburn – “(Reuters) – Texas Governor Rick Perry called on Texans to pray for rain as cooler temperatures on Thursday helped firefighters contain wildfires that have charred more than 1.5 million acres across the state.
Perry, a Republican, sought increased federal help in combating the blazes last weekend and urged Texans to ask the same from a higher power over the Easter holiday weekend.
‘Throughout our history, both as a state and as individuals, Texans have been strengthened, assured and lifted up through prayer,’ Perry said in a statement.
‘It is fitting that Texans should join together in prayer to humbly seek an end to this ongoing drought and these devastating wildfires.'” Read more.
Europe Prays for Easter Rain in Worst Drought in a Century
“The Dutch have banned barbecues, camp fires and outdoor smoking this Easter, while the Swiss are forecasting potentially the worst drought in Europe for more than a century.
Either way, prayers in Europe this Easter holiday weekend are as likely to call for rain as anything else — with serious fears over the wheat harvest, its impact on already sky-high global food prices and, of course, devastating brush fires.
A year ago, it was Russia that bore the brunt of global warming, and with the price of benchmark wheat futures jumping by more than a fifth since the spring in the global market hub of Chicago, farmers everywhere are busy scanning the skies for soothing signs.
Traditional Easter fairs in the east and the north of the Netherlands have been cancelled because of the risk of fires posed by the extraordinarily dry weather affecting northern Europe, Dutch news agency ANP said.” Read more.
Terror Warning: Hezbollah to Attack Israelis Abroad
By Hanan Greenberg – “The defense establishment has recently obtained exact information regarding Hezbollah’s intention to carry out a terrorist attack at a destination that is frequented by Israelis abroad, in retaliation for the assassination of a senior official over three years ago.
Hezbollah blames Israel for taking out its chief of operations, Imad Mugniyah, in February 2008.
According to defense establishment sources, similar intelligence was uncovered in the past, and terrorist attacks were consequently thwarted in various locations outside of Israel. In this case it appears that Hezbollah is preparing to carry out an attack that cannot be traced back to the organization, in order to avoid triggering a confrontation on Israel’s northern border.” Read more.
Europe Considering Recognition of Palestine September 2011
“France said Thursday that European nations are considering recognizing a Palestinian state, heightening pressure on the United States and Israel to re-launch the Middle East peace process.
‘Recognition of the state of Palestine is one of the options which France is considering, with its European partners, in a bid to re-launch the peace process,’ French ambassador Gerard Araud told a Security Council debate on the Middle East.
Britain also indicated that state recognition could be considered.
‘Nothing is off the table with regard to recognition in September,’ said a British spokesman. ‘But nor are we specifying what conditions would be necessary, or sufficient, to recognize, or indeed not to recognize – we’ll have to look at all relevant factors at the time.'” Read more.
Islamist Preacher Ordered to Leave Germany Immediately or Be Arrested
“A radical Muslim preacher has been ordered by German authorities to depart the country immediately. The move comes after he attended an Islamist rally in Frankfurt that took place despite the objections of city leaders.
Citing security concerns, the authorities said if he doesn’t depart on his own, he could be arrested and forcibly deported.
Philips, who was born in Jamaica and raised in Canada, spoke in Frankfurt earlier this week on the subject “Islam, the Misunderstood Religion” alongside German Islamist preacher Pierre Vogel – who authorities have no way to deport – after a court allowed the event over the objections of Frankfurt officials.
Arid Uka, the 21-year-old Kosovar who has admitted to killing two US airmen in Frankfurt in March, is thought to have established contact to radical Islamist preachers including Vogel before the shooting.” Read more.
‘I’ll Never Leave the Lord’ – Killed For Being a Christian in Egypt
“Hany was born in 1985 to a Christian family that lives way below the poverty line in a very small village in upper Egypt that does not appear on any of the Egyptian maps. Hany grew up as a Christian. Like all youth, he had dreams of completing his military service, working to support himself, marrying a young lady from his village and having a family of his own. But the dream was interrupted by the unexpected during his military service…”
Gulf Oil Disaster Still Puzzles Scientists
By John D. Sutter, CNN – “One year after the chocolaty crude started spewing out of the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, leading to the largest accidental oil spill in history, scientists say they’re still trying to piece together what’s happening to the environment.
Some potential clues about the impact of the spill have made themselves known: dead baby dolphins and sea turtles; oiled brown pelicans; fish with strange sores; sticky marsh grasses; tar balls on beaches.
But the big picture hasn’t come into focus yet.
Did the oil spill shatter the Gulf’s food chain? Will fish have trouble reproducing because of exposure to hydrocarbons? What did those dispersants, which were supposed to break up the oil, do to the ecosystem on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico? Or did the Earth already heal itself?” Read more.
Why Islam is Taking Over America
By MARTEL SOBIESKEY – “Beware America, I bring you news of your own death; ‘a pale shroud laid out by your own hand’. IDIOTICALLY, you have given religion status to an enemy invader called Islam; thereby egregiously violating the foremost principles of national security, sovereignty and warfare: An enemy invader must never (never) be classified as a religion.
Doing so is equivalent to a mad doctor injecting deadly cancer cells into a healthy patient in this case America. Look how Muslims are ‘shoving mosques down our throat’ even at the hallowed ‘ground zero’ of 9/11. They ‘thumb their noses’ and jeer us, adding insult to injury. Why? Islam is ‘programmed’ to bring down America and knows no limits. M.A. Khan in his excellently informative book, Islamic Jihad: A Legacy Of Forced Conversion, Imperialism And Slavery states:
‘the perpetuation of a global Islamic rule for eternity is the ultimate goal of Allah’
Perhaps this is why Dr. Wafa Sultan has named her book A GOD WHO HATES emphasizing Islam’s God (Allah) hates all things non-Muslim and utilizes this hatred to fuel the fervor for global Islamic rule…” Read more.
Nigerian President: Violence After Muslim Lost Election “Was Not a Spontaneous Reaction”
“Indeed it wasn’t, on many levels. As with the rampages in Afghanistan and Pakistan that used the Qur’an burning in Florida as a pretext (which, ironically, wound up burning untold numbers of Qur’ans in the process), the inclination toward violence was already there, waiting for another excuse to make a show of force and abuse non-Muslims. And as with those ‘protests,’ we have seen that even the flimsiest of pretexts will do. If it is not one excuse du jour, it might be the next day’s ‘provocation’ or ‘humiliation.’
These incidents would not happen — and would not keep happening — if not for an able and willing populace, and pre-existing hatred and intolerance of non-Muslims.
Here, of course, there is another angle. It is quite reasonable for President Jonathan to surmise that many Muslims in the north were poised and ready to let loose once the votes were counted. The election results show the Muslim candidate didn’t stand a chance, but that didn’t matter: if the Muslims could win the election, Islamic law could advance that way. If they lost, they would attempt to advance Islamic law the old fashioned way, demanding concessions through violence and threats.” Read more.
Spread of Antimicrobial Resistance Causes WHO to Declare: “The World is on the Brink…”
By Peter Murray – “Be afraid. Be very afraid.
The widespread misuse of antibiotics is rapidly rendering them powerless against infection. Common infections that are easily cured today are going to become deadly, and it’s going to happen sooner than you think.
The World Health Organization reports:
* Each year there are about 440,000 new cases of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis, resulting in at least 150,000 deaths.
* Resistance to antimalarial drugs chloroquine and sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine is now widespread in most malaria-endemic countries, leading to the resurgence of malaria in areas where the disease had previously been eradicated.” Read more.
