Guelph, Ontario: Lake at Marden Park Closed After Dozens of Dead Fish Found

By Greg Layson – “GUELPH — The Township of Guelph-Eramosa immediately cordoned off the lake at Marden Park after dead fish began washing ashore Monday.

By Wednesday morning, hundreds of flies were dining on dozens of dead, blanched fish floating on their sides in the shallow shoreline. At least one dead bird was found rotting near the water.

Guelph-Eramosa chief administrative officer Janice Sheppard said a fisherman called the township Monday after he noticed the dead fish. She called the closure a precaution.

Snow fence now lines the perimeter of the lake. Signs warn people of a ‘public health concern’ and also read ‘Do not use the lake for: Swimming, drinking and do not eat the fish.'” Read more.

Oklahoma: Residents Concerned as Thousands of Dead Fish Litter the Red River

By Jalah Gray – “Love County, Oklahoma — Fishermen in a small community in southern Oklahoma are looking for answers after finding thousands of dead fish on the Red River.

‘I’ve never seen anything like it … they just..for some unknown reason they’re just dying,’ Bob Stewart.

Several residents in the Love County community of Courtney…near the Red River.. say thousands of fish have turned up dead over the past few days.

Lyndal Vanbuskirk and friends have been fishing the river for over 40 years now.

But this weekend they saw and smelled the stench from hundreds of fish carcasses out on dry land.

‘Something’s had to cause em to beach theirselves, it’s just not normal,’ said Lyndal Vanbuskirk.

Many of the locals tell us they suspect some sort of chemical spill…

And they say they’re concerned about people who are still eating fish from the river.” Read more.

By Rohit Kachroo – “WAJIR, Kenya – At first glance, the massive drought which has swept across Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia appears to be a crisis caused entirely by nature.

As we traveled north through Kenya into one of the worst-hit areas, the lush green of the Nairobi suburbs disappeared into gray sand and dry earth. In three hours, I counted the carcasses of 27 cattle by the roadside, and one giraffe – apparently killed because the land could not sustain them. The striking images of the landscape seem to represent a deceptively simple assessment of the drought: the dirty work of Mother Nature.

‘The only reason for all the suffering in this region is the lack of rain,’ one desperate doctor told me as he lifted up yet another severely malnourished baby so that he could be weighed. The doctor is wrong.

Witness the outbreak of famine or drought and you’ll usually see that there has been an outbreak of war nearby. In this case, the lawlessless of war-torn Somalia is driving people into neighboring Kenya. In Ethiopia, high inflation and fast-rising food prices have also forced people out. Many of those refugees have been competing with the recently killed animals that we saw on our journey for water and food. Consider that and the deadly cocktail behind this current crisis doesn’t look so basic. Human hands are all over this.

Kenya’s refugee camps are packed. Dadaab, the biggest refugee camp in the world, was originally built for 90,000 people but now has 380,000 refugees, UNICEF officials told Reuters this week. About 10,000 more stream in each week.” Read more.

Worst Drought in History Scorches Texas And The Record Books – “The months-long Texas drought is sapping the record books bone dry and is racking up dire statistics that have never been reached since reliable record-keeping was started 116 years ago, according to figures from Texas A&M University researchers. Don Conlee, instructional associate professor of atmospheric sciences who, along with graduate student Brent McRoberts, also assists State Climatologist John Nielsen-Gammon with recordkeeping, confirms that the period from February through June was by far the driest on record with a statewide average of 4.26 inches of rain. Iran: University Student Arrested and Charged with ‘Propagating Christianity’

Mohabat News – “The Iranian Government security forces arrested a university student in front of his home based on the accusation that he has evangelized and propagated Christianity at the university he has been attending. So far there is no information on his condition or his whereabouts.

According to reports collected by Iranian Christian New Agency, ‘Mohabat News,’ reporters on Thursday June 30, 2011, a 24 year old young man named Mostafa Zangooyee, was arrested by plain-clothes security officers as he was leaving his home and was to taken away to an undisclosed location.

Security officers subsequently contacted the parents of the young man and informed them of the arrest and the charges against their son.

The arresting officers stated that the charge against this young man was evangelization and the propagation of the Christian faith in the university campus.” Read more.

Muslim Man to His Christian Wife: Convert to Islam or Get Ready to Die

Mohammad Parvez had only one option to put pressure on his first wife Surriya Bibi to convert to Islam with her son to stay as his second wife.

In Pakistan, Christian marriage cannot be declared null and void in any court of law without concrete evidence of adultery in any marriage partner.

To avoid long legal divorce fight in court of law, Christian men or women, adopt easy way to convert to Islam because as they convert, then no law applies on them to face any charges.

The Muslim welcome newly converted Christians to Islam and financially supports them to comfortable life and takes full responsibility of their security and legal issues.

After conversion to Islam, Mohammad Parvez became very powerful and intended to bring her first Christian wife as second wife.

The Muslim friends of Mohammad Parvez started harassing Surriya Bibi and forcibly attempted to kidnap her son.

Yesterday, Mohammad Parvez threatened to Surriya Bibi that convert to Islam or get ready to die. The parents of Surriya Bibi have contacted Christian Member of Sindh Assembly Saleem Khurshid Khokhar and waiting for government action against Mohammad Parvez.” Source.

If Christians refuse to accept the choices given to them, the letter explains that they ‘would be killed, their property and homes would be burnt to ashes and their women would be treated as sex slaves. For Unto Us a Storm is Born, Unto Us a ‘Great White Spot’ is Given

“LOS ANGELES (AP) – It began as a bright white dot in Saturn’s northern hemisphere. Within days, the dot grew larger and stormier.

Soon the tempest enveloped the ringed planet, triggering lightning flashes thousands of times more intense than on Earth.

The international Cassini spacecraft and ground telescopes have been tracking the turbulence since last December, visible from Earth as a type of storm known as a ‘Great White Spot.’

‘It’s still going like crazy,’ said Cassini project scientist Linda Spilker of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Such planet-wide weather disturbances are rare on Saturn, where the atmosphere is typically hazy and calm. Since 1876, astronomers have observed only five other megastorms on Saturn.

‘This is a one-of-a-kind storm,’ said Andrew Ingersoll, a self-described planetary weatherman at the California Institute of Technology, who was part of the discovery team.” Read more.

Russia: Southern Regions Invaded by Plague of Locusts as 120 Million Rubles Spent to Protect Grains in Russia Proper

By Marina Sysoyeva – “Russia spent 120 million rubles ($4.3 million) to fight locusts this year and protect crops, the Agriculture Ministry said.

The money was used to spray the insects on 760,000 hectares (1.88 million acres) of land, the ministry said today on its website. Some 8.6 million hectares were inspected and locusts were found to have landed on 2.2 million hectares.

The ministry estimated the potential damage to be as much as 50 billion rubles.

‘Grains did not suffer in Russia,’ Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said on the department’s website.

Locust incidents rose significantly in Dagestan, Kalmykia, Astrakhan, Saratov and other southern regions this year as a result of last year’s drought and a relatively warm winter, Interfax cited Skrynnik as saying in Kalmykia earlier today.” Read more.

Update: UNBELIEVABLE! Obama Administration Puts Israel On List Of Countries That Support Terrorism

Update July 7th, 2011: U.S. admits it was a mistake to include Israel on terror watch list, says it was done ‘erroneously’ – “WASHINGTON (JTA) — Israel was included erroneously on a U.S. Department of Homeland Security terrorist watch list, a U.S. official said. John Morton, the director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement division of the department, said Israel’s recent appearance on a list compiled by the department’s office of the inspector general was a mistake. ‘The addition of Israel in the OIG’s list of ICE’s ‘Third-Agency Checks’ (TAC) was based on inaccurate information provided to the OIG during the course of its audit,’ Morton said in a statement sent by e-mail to JTA.” Read more.

Erroneously.  Right. In other words, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security decided to change its tune only after the public outcry for logic and reason, a dearth thereof which often exists within the bowels of the Obama administration.  A scrutinized terror watch list such as this with such blatantly ‘inaccurate’ information does not get released ‘erroneously’. It’s not like it was one individual with a confusing or common Middle Eastern name.  This was the State of Israel, America’s strongest ally in the Middle East, if not the world.  I’d love to know who provided the so-called ‘inaccurate information’ and what their affiliations are …

“Only in the twisted world of the Obama Administration, where allies are trashed, and enemies are embraced, could the tiny nation of Israel, on the front lines of the war on terror for decades, be on a list of 36 nations which ‘have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations or their members.’

This is no joke and Alan Funt is dead so you can’t be on Candid Camera. As reported by CNS News:

The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General published the list of ‘specially designated countries’ as an appendix to an unclassified May 11 report–‘Supervision of Aliens Commensurate With Risk’–that was publicly posted on the Internet. (The appendix is on page 18 of the document.)

As a matter of policy, according to the inspector general’s report, citizens of Israel and other ‘specially designated countries’ are subjected to a special security screening called a ‘Third Agency Check’ (TAC) when they are actually detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the division of the Department of Homeland Security responsible for enforcing the immigration laws.

The five countries on the list that do not have majority Muslim populations–Kazakhstan (47 percent Muslim), Eritrea (36.5 percent Muslim), Israel (16.9 percent Muslim), the Philippines (5 percent Muslim) and Thailand (4.6 percent)–have had internal problems with radical Muslim terrorists, as reported by the State Department.

US: Feds Unseal Indictment Against ex-Dearborn Resident in Alleged Terror Plot to Bomb Israel

Former Dearborn, MI man linked to Hezbollah?  Dearborn.  Dearborn. For some reason, that city rings a bell.  What’s eating Dearborn, MI?   And this former Dearborn man also has direct ties to Canada, which has its own large share of Islamic terror cells …

BY DAVID ASHENFELTER – “Federal prosecutors in Detroit have unsealed a two-year-old criminal indictment against a former Dearborn man who, they say, tried to use a phony U.S. passport to sneak into Israel in 2000 to carry out a bombing for Hizballah.

The indictment, handed down in August 2009, said Faouzi Mohamad Ayoub, 44, who also goes by the name Fawzi Ayoub, used a passport in the name of Frank Mariano Boschi to try to get into Israel. The U.S. State Department has designated Hizballah as a Lebanese terrorist group.

The indictment was unsealed Friday, two days after the FBI added the man’s name and photo to its most wanted terrorist list. There are 31 others on the list.

It’s unclear why Ayoub was added to the list so long after the 2000 incident, whether he was arrested in the episode and when and how long he lived in Dearborn…

The government said he was born in Lebanon, immigrated to Canada and was recruited by Hizballah’s Canadian branch.” Read more.

Flashback: Terror cells suspected in ‘every major city’ in Canada – “If there was one terrorist plying his trade in Edmonton, there are likely more where he came from, said a local criminologist. ‘Terrorist cells typically have four to seven people in them,’ said Bill Pitt, a former Mountie who now teaches at Grant MacEwan University. Pitt said CSIS suspects every major city in Canada likely has a couple of cells working for a variety of terrorist causes around the world.” Read more.

Thousands of Dead Fish Are Washing Up on the Shores of Lake Michigan

“MILWAUKEE — Thousands of dead fish are washing up on the shores of Lake Michigan.

‘It brings back the horror stories we used to have in Milwaukee with the enormous populations of alewives would wash up and destroy our beaches,’ said Dan Steininger, of Milwaukee.

Experts said small, shiny fishes, called alewives, have been dying off and showing up on beaches around Lake Michigan in recent weeks.

WISN 12 News found them at Bradford Beach in Milwaukee and at Doctor’s Park in Fox Point.” Read more.

8 Aftershocks of 5.0 or Higher Shake Kermadec Islands of Northern New Zealand Since Yesterday’s Powerful 7.6 Earthquake

The latest two have been 6.0 and 5.3 magnitude earthquakes
28.941°S, 176.732°W and 29.065°S, 177.124°W, respectively
Depth: 19.9 km (12.4 miles) and 24.4 km (15.2 miles), respectively

“WELLINGTON, Jul 07, 2011 (Xinhua via COMTEX) — An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck the remote Kermadec Islands, north of New Zealand North Island on Thursday , the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake hit the New Zealand territory, 116 km east of Raoul Island at 09:10 p.m. New Zealand local time (09:10 GMT) at a depth of 19.9 km.

A 7.6 magnitude earthquake also hit Kermadec Islands on Thursday morning. A tsunami warning was issued fro New Zealand, Kermadec Islands, Tonga by the Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. The warning was lifted later.

No damages were reported.

So far, more than eight aftershocks measuring over 5.0 magnitude have struck Kermadec Islands since the 7.6 magnitude quake.” Read more.

Iceland: Magma Appears to be Moving Beneath Hekla Volcano, Scientists Fear Eruption Soon

“Scientists are monitoring unusual underground activity that could signal an eruption at the Hekla volcano in southern Iceland.

University of Iceland geophysicist Pall Einarsson said Wednesday that magma appears to be moving deep beneath the volcano.

He says that does not necessarily mean an eruption is imminent.

But scientists expect Hekla, one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes, to erupt soon.

In the past few decades, Hekla has erupted about every 10 years, most recently in February 2000.

Iceland, in the remote North Atlantic, is a volcanic hotspot.” Read more.
