Psalms 91:1 – In Memory Of Those Lost On 9/11/2001

Though it has now been 10 years, all of us who watched the events of that day unfold remember it like it was yesterday …

Psalm 91:1-7, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the noisome pestilence.  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day; [Nor] for the pestilence [that] walketh in darkness; [nor] for the destruction [that] wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee.”

    This is so touching – I’m crying now. I recall seeing it all on TV – thought at first a plane had crashed into the WTC and we watched with horror. My daughter’s friend lost her uncle, my workmate lost her husband during the attack. My tears are also for America.

    Yeah, I think everyone thought at first that it must have been a catastrophic mechanical failure of some sort that caused a large plane to crash into the WTC. It didn’t take long for that thought to be dispelled. I was sleeping that morning — I worked a split-shift and usually got up around noon — but my brother called from college and asked if I was watching the news. I said no, but when he told me to turn it on I knew something big was unfolding. I saw immediately a live shot of the towers, which had just fallen. That day is a memory forever etched in the forefront of my mind.

    Lived in Pgh, PA at the time. My brother was visiting, I was taking a vacation day. After the first plane hit we watched everything else unfold on TV. 4th plane ‘Flight 93’ flew over our house, more or less, before crashing in Shanksville, PA. Two older boys were released from school early and were bused home.

    I read it. Very good, thanks for posting.

    Central verse, quoted by dignitaries in the American gov’t shortly after 9/11, in defiance that we would rebuild. In its context it was expressed by a stiff-necked Israel, resistant to God’s judgments designed to bring repentance:

    Asserting in pride and in arrogance of heart:
    10 “The bricks have fallen down,
    But we will rebuild with smooth stones;
    The sycamores have been cut down,
    But we will replace them with cedars.”

    You may be very right Kurt the Seleucids or “Sons of Greece” makes a lot of sense and their offspring and DNA can certainly still seen in Lebanon, Turkey and Syria – It appears to strengthen the argument for keeping our eyes on Turkey – especially with what is and has been happening over the last few months and coming out of the mouth of Erdogan
