By Bill Gertz – “Jihadists among the Libyan rebels revealed plans last week on the Internet to subvert the post-Moammar Gadhafi government and create an Islamist state, according to U.S. intelligence agencies.

U.S. officials said spy agencies are stepping up surveillance of Islamist-oriented elements among Libyan rebels. A government report circulated Tuesday said extremists were observed ‘strategizing’ on Internet forums about how to set up an Islamist state in Libya after the regime of Col. Gadhafi is defeated.

‘Several forum participants have suggested that, following a transitional stage, the battle should turn against secularist rebels and members of the [rebels’] Transitional National Council,’ the unclassified report stated.

Some U.S. officials sought to play down the remarks by noting that such Internet postings are not always accurate measures of jihadist plans.

The report said the jihadists’ strength and influence on the ground ‘are uncertain at this time.’

However, the report said the jihadist plotting coincided with the high-profile emergence of Abu Abdallah al-Sadiq, a former leader of the al Qaeda-linked Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and now a leading rebel. He is currently known as Abdel Hakim al-Khulidi Belhaj and led rebels in overrunning Col. Gadhafi’s Tripoli compound.” Read more.

Not So Fast – Libyan Draft Constitution Declares Sharia Law the ‘Principal Source of Legislation’ – “The dust has not yet settled over the Libyan capital of Tripoli since rebels took control over the weekend. But already, a draft constitutional charter for the transitional state has appeared online… Much of the document describes political institutions that will sound familiar to citizens of Western liberal democracies… But despite the Lockean tenor of much of the constitution, the inescapable clause lies right in Part 1, Article 1: ‘Islam is the Religion of the State, and the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia).’ Under this constitution, in other words, Islam is law.” Read more.

Flashback: Killers of Libyan rebels’ military chief were members of an Islamist-linked militia allied to the rebel campaign  – “The gunmen who shot dead the Libyan rebels’ military chief Abdul Fatah Younis were members of an Islamist-linked militia allied to the campaign to overthrow Muammar Gaddafi, according to a National Transitional Council minister. After 24 hours of confusion surrounding the death, the NTC’s oil minister, Ali Tarhouni, said Younis had been killed by members of the Obaida Ibn Jarrah Brigade, a militia named after one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, suggesting that Islamist elements were involved.” Read more.

Flashback: The headless corpse, the mass grave and worrying questions about Libya’s rebel army– “The streaks of blood, smeared along the sides of this impromptu mass grave suggested a rushed operation, a hurried attempt to dispose of the victims. Who the men were and what happened to them, close to the Libyan rebels’ western front line town of Al-Qawalish in the Nafusa Mountains, remains unknown. But the evidence of a brutal end were clear. One of the corpses had been cleanly decapitated, while the trousers of another had been ripped down to his ankles, a way of humiliating a dead enemy. The green uniforms were the same as those worn by loyalists fighting for Col. Muammer Gaddafi in Libya’s civil war.” Read more.

Flashback: FBI Counter-Terror Official: Al Qaeda ‘Thrives’ After Dictators Fall – “On the same day reports emerged of a new al Qaeda video that praised the revolutions sweeping the Arab world, one the U.S.’s top counter-terror officials warned the terror organization ‘thrives’ in the political unrest that follows… Al Qaeda thrives in such conditions and countries of weak governance and political instability — countries in which governments may be sympathetic to their campaign of violence.’” Read more.

Israel will likely need to call upon some reserves before and/or after the September 20th vote, but what if mass protests devolve from non-violent to violent?  We have all seen, after all, the Palestinian propensity toward violent confrontation instead of peaceful protest, and their instinctive alacrity to blame Israel for anything and everything that goes wrong …

By DPA – “Some 140 countries support a United Nations General Assembly resolution recognizing Palestine, a senior Palestinian official said Sunday.

‘Around 140 countries would vote in favor of an independent state of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly meetings due to start on September 23,’ Nabil Shaath, a senior negotiator, told a news conference in Ramallah.

He said his estimated number was the result of marathon visits by Palestinian leaders across the globe over the past months.

‘Many Palestinian leaders and officials (including Shaath) went on separate tours and visits to convince the world’s countries to recognize the Palestinian state on the territories occupied by Israel in 1967,’ said Shaath.” Read more.

Israel defense officials: IDF fully prepared to cope with mass Palestinian protests – “Senior Israeli defense establishment officials told U.S. diplomats last year that they were concerned about the Israel Defense Forces’ ability to deal with nonviolent protests on the part of the Palestinians, according to documents published this weekend on the WikiLeaks website… Following the WikiLeaks publications, sources at the Central Command said the statements made to the U.S. diplomats were no longer relevant, and that the IDF was now well prepared to cope with mass demonstrations in the West Bank after the UN vote.” Read more.

If the Islamist rebel’s prophet Mohammed was prejudiced against black people and treated them like animals, then it is only reasonable to expect that black Africans in Libya could be treated with similar disdain …

By BEN HUBBARD – “TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Rebel forces and armed civilians are rounding up thousands of black Libyans and migrants from sub-Sahara Africa, accusing them of fighting for ousted strongman Moammar Gadhafi and holding them in makeshift jails across the capital.

Virtually all of the detainees say they are innocent migrant workers, and in most cases there is no evidence that they are lying. But that is not stopping the rebels from placing the men in facilities like the Gate of the Sea sports club, where about 200 detainees — all black — clustered on a soccer field this week, bunching against a high wall to avoid the scorching sun.

Handling the prisoners is one of the first major tests for the rebel leaders, who are scrambling to set up a government that they promise will respect human rights and international norms, unlike the dictatorship they overthrew.

The rebels’ National Transitional Council has called on fighters not to abuse prisoners and says those accused of crimes will receive fair trials. There has been little credible evidence of rebels killing or systematically abusing captives during the six-month conflict. Still, the African Union and Amnesty International have protested the treatment of blacks inside Libya, saying there is a potential for serious abuse.” Read more.

Mohammed the Racist  – “Did [Mohammed] own black slaves? This question is very important for black Americans because they have been conned by Farakhan and other black Muslims into thinking that Mohammed was a black man and Islam is the black man’s religion. But if it can be shown that Mohammed was a white man, that he was a racist, that he had prejudicial attitudes against black people, and that he was a slave owner of black slaves, then Islam will lose all respect in the black community. What is the truth? Mohammed was a white man. There can be no doubt of this because the Sahih Bukhari Hadith states this plain and simple. Since Bukhari is accepted by all Muslims as the greatest of all Hadith Scholars. His work is entitled ‘Sahih’ which means that it is absolutely authentic. In Hadith 63, vol. 1, when a man arrived at the mosque, he asked, ‘Who amongst you is Mohammed?’ The companions of the prophet replied: ‘This white man reclining on his arm’ … Mohammed was a slave owner of black slaves. In Hadith no. 436, vol. 6 when Umar came to visit Mohammed, he saw ‘a black slave of Allah’s apostle setting on the first step.’ Lest some Muslim fool claim that Mohammed had only one black slave, we will quote from ‘Ibn Qayyim Aljawiyya’ a great historian. In his famous book Zad al-Ma’ad (part 1, pg. 160 and pgs. 114-116) we read: [Mohammed had many male and female slaves. He used to buy and sell them, but he purchased more slaves than he sold, especially after God empowered him by His message, as well as after his immigration from Mecca. He once sold one black slave for two… ” Read more.
