As Israel Makes War Preparations, Russia Now Asserts That Any Attack on Tehran is an Attack on Moscow

Is it me, or is Russia now getting bolder in light of America’s ineffectual leadership and President Obama’s apparent desire to weaken the US military?  Sounds more and more like this war could develop into something larger than just a regional conflagration …

By Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu – “Russia has given Iran its bear hug and warns Israel and the West that an attack on Tehran would be considered an attack on Moscow. The threat heightens the prospect of World War III in the event of a military strike on Iran.

‘Iran is our neighbor,’ Russia’s outgoing ambassador to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, told reporters in Brussels. ‘And if Iran is involved in any military action, it’s a direct threat to our security.’

Kremlin Security Council head Nikolai Patrushev accused Israel of provoking the United States towards war against Iran, the Russian Interfax news agency reported Friday. ‘But at the same time, we believe that any country has the right to have what it needs to feel comfortable, including Iran,’ he added.

Rogozin warned on Friday that more attacks on Iran could cause ‘a scorching Arab Summer.'” Read more.

Joint Chiefs chairman headed to Israel amid Iran threat – “Israel’s military confirmed Sunday that Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey will travel to the Mideast nation this week for talks, as Israel’s No. 2 public official suggested that President Obama is being meek about Iran ahead of the U.S. presidential election. The content of the coming discussion between the U.S. general and Israel’s top military commander was not stated, but Iran is first and foremost in Israel’s mind as the Islamic Republic takes a step closer to going nuclear.” Read more.

Report: Israel making war preparations away from watchful eyes – “A U.S. intelligence source tells G2Bulletin that the Israelis, who know the overflight schedule of U.S. surveillance satellites monitoring their war preparations, wait until the “bird” passes and then resume what appears to be increased mobilization activities, according to a report from Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin. Sources say the Israelis are making war preparations, but subtly, in an effort to lessen the world’s notice, and they may be further along than U.S. imagery analysts are able to assess.” Read more.

    Is that not what Eze tells us about Russia that HE WILL TAKE COMMAND OF THEM

    Eze 38:4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords.
    Eze 38:5 Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets,
    Eze 38:6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.

    I’m not convinced that Russia is mentioned in the Gog-Magog war of Ezekiel 38 and 39. The word that many often point to in an effort to suggest that Russia is mentioned specifically here is the word “rosh” (H7218) in 38:2, but this word simply means “chief” or “head”, as in Rosh Hashanah (Head of the Year). Nowhere in the whole of Scripture has “rosh” ever referred to Russia. This does not mean that Russia will not be involved, however. After all, there are “many people” or “nations” with Gog according to 38:6, and Russia could be one of them in some way, shape or form. But Russia is not mentioned specifically by name at all in the text.

    I agree with your view ICA but who else could it be that would come from the utter most or far North as Ezek calls him – I do not see him as the A/C but as Ezek 38:7 says – he will take command of them

    I think Turkey certainly has its place as possibly being Gog grom Magog but it is Russia that is behind arming and now defending Syria, Iran, Hezbolla by saying an attack against either is a direct attack against Russia. I have a link at work to an old book that supports and claims Turkey being Magog – but it seems evident that Russia will likely be the supplier of much of the weaponary for the final war – Russia and its land have millions of Muslims growing at an astonding birth rates and with Mosques

    Drawing a line from the North Pole to Jerusalem Moscow pretty much lies along that line.

    I think it’s best to look at it from Ezekiel’s perspective and from his “known world”. The far north according to Ezekiel likely brings us all the up to anywhere from the Black Sea and the northern shores of modern day Turkey and areas northeast of Turkey, to areas north of modern day Iran and Afghanistan where we find former Soviet Republics. So we’re likely looking at northern nations/peoples/fighters from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Dagestan and possibly even Chechnya, and across the Caspian Sea to Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan. In these areas, Islam is the dominant religion. Read more here.

    Joint US-Israel drill called off by Netanyahu, to Washington’s surprise

    debkafile’s sources disclose exclusively that, contrary to recent reports published in Washington, Jerusalem – and this site too – it was Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, not the Obama administration, who decided to call off the biggest ever joint US-Israeli military exercise Austere Challenge 12 scheduled for April 2012.

    Washington was taken aback by the decision. It was perceived as a mark of Israel’s disapproval for the administration’s apparent hesitancy in going through with the only tough sanctions with any chance of working against Iran’s nuclear weapon program: penalizing its central bank and blocking payments for its petroleum exports.

    This was the first time Israel had ever postponed a joint military exercise; it generated a seismic moment in relations between the US and Israel at a time when Iran has never been so close to producing a nuclear weapon.

    This week, Netanyahu further orchestrated a series of uncharacteristically critical statements by senior ministers: Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon called the Obama administration “hesitant” (Jan. 15), after which Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman urged the Americans to “move from words to deeds” (Jan 16).

    The underlying message was that the Israeli government felt free to attack Iran’s nuclear sites on its own if necessary and at a time of its choosing….
