Friday’s Large 2012 DA14 Near-Miss Asteroid Could Potentially Destroy Telecomuncations Sattelite

The Telegraph – “Scientists say they are sure there is no chance of the 150ft (45.7m) wide space rock hitting the planet.

But there is a remote possibility that it could collide with one of more than 100 telecommunication and weather satellites in fixed orbits above the Earth.

The asteroid, 2012 DA14, has been closely tracked since its discovery a year ago.

It is predicted to reach its nearest point to the Earth at around 7.30pm UK time on Friday.

Experts have calculated it will stay at least 17,200 miles (27,681km) away – easily far enough to be safe, but a very close shave in astronomical terms. Scientists have never observed such a narrow miss before.

Dr Dan Brown, from Nottingham Trent University, said telecommunication satellites – that ping data between our mobile phones – could be in danger.

Travelling at between 12,427mph (20,000kph) and 18,641mph (30,000kph) – around five miles (8km) a second, or eight times the speed of a rifle bullet – the asteroid will fly inside the orbits of high geostationary satellites some 22,000 miles (35,406km) above the Earth.

‘These are the satellites that provide us with telecommunications and weather forecasts,’ said Dr Brown.

‘There are loads of them but you’re talking about a very big area. It would be very unlucky if a satellite was hit. The asteroid is more likely to hit some space junk, but most of this is only about a centimetre across and the impact won’t even be noticed.’

Through binoculars, the object should be visible as a tiny dot of light crossing the sky.

‘It will be too faint for the naked eye but with binoculars it should be visible if you know where to look. It will be low to the north-eastern horizon and moving quite quickly,’said Dr Brown.

‘You’ll be able to see it pass from the constellation Leo to roughly the Plough, more or less from anywhere in the UK, and it will be bright for about an hour.’

DA14 belongs to dangerous family of near-Earth objects (NEOs) that are small enough to be missed but large enough to cause serious damage.” Read more.

Egypt: Muslim Preacher Says Raping Women In Tahrir Square Is Justified, ‘They Want To Be Raped’

I’m sure that even this pious deep-thinking Muslim preacher knows full well that women protesting against Islamist President Morsi in no way “want to be raped” in Tahrir Square. The fact of the matter is that according to this Muslim preacher and all like-minded fundamentalists, to protest against Islamic rule is an affront to Islam and to Allah’s decreed theocratic system of governance. In the Islamist way of thinking, this makes these women enemies of Islam, and enemies of Islam will be treated according to the dictates of the prophet of Islam — as spoils of war …

By Al Arabiya – “An Egyptian Salafi preacher said raping and sexually harassing women protesters in Cairo’s Tahrir Square is justified, calling them ‘crusaders’ who ‘have no shame, no fear and not even feminism.’

In an online video posted Wednesday, Ahmad Mahmoud Abdullah, known as ‘Abu Islam’ and owner of the private television channel of ‘al-Ummah,’ said these women are no red line.

‘They tell you women are a red line. They tell you that naked women — who are going to Tahrir Square because they want to be raped — are a red line! And they ask Mursi and the Brotherhood to leave power!,’ he said.

Abu Islam added that these women activists are going to Tahrir Square not to protest but to be sexually abused because they had wanted to be raped.

‘They have no shame, no fear and not even feminism. Practice your feminism, sheikha! It is a legitimate right for you to be a woman,’ he said.

‘And by the way, 90 percent of them are crusaders and the remaining 10 percent are widows who have no one to control them. You see women talking like monsters,’ he added.

Abu Islam further described these female political activists as ‘devils.’ …

Several rights groups had recently condemned the sexual harassment and rape which 25 female protesters were subjected to in Tahrir Square during protests held to mark the second anniversary of the revolution that ousted Hosni Mubarak and brought in an Islamist government.” Read more.

Will Israel Become Wealthiest Nation In Mideast?

By Joel Richardson – “For years, it was assumed that the nation of Saudi Arabia, with its vast oil reserves, would long reign the wealthiest oil-producing nation in the Middle East. According to present estimates, Saudi Arabia sits atop approximately 266 billion barrels of oil. The Muslim dominated OPEC countries together claim roughly 1,112 billion barrels.

But due to a new technology called ‘fracking,’ this is all about to change. Fracking, hydrofracking, or hydraulic fracking, what some are calling a ‘miraculous new technology,’ has made it possible to access what were previously inaccessible – and absolutely massive – deposits of shale oil and natural gas. This new technology, it is claimed, will allow formerly inferior energy-producing nations to emerge overnight as the new titans of global energy. And the Muslim world is not at all likely to be pleased about which nations fracking will allow to emerge as the world’s most powerful energy producers.

You guessed it. Because of fracking, the nation of Israel, along with the United States, could soon emerge as the world’s largest oil-producing nations. Some say this will happen as soon as 2020. According to estimates, Israel’s oil-shale reserves could amount to as much as 250 billion barrels, placing it neck and neck with Saudi Arabia. When one combines this with the massive amounts of natural gas ( approximately 100 trillion cubic feet) found in recent years just off Israel’s shore, the Jewish state could quickly move beyond mere energy independence and become a major global exporter.

In the ongoing geopolitical chess game for wealth creation, power and even survival, the dawn of fracking technology literally changes everything. And it has the minds of analysts churning out a thick froth of speculation. This is true concerning political analysts as well as analysts of Bible prophecy.

Let’s indulge in a bit of geopolitical speculation first. How will a potentially emerging energy-dominant nation of Israel change the Middle East? Will Turkey’s Prime Minister Erdogan tone down his rhetoric demanding an apology for the Mavi Marmara flotilla fiasco? Perhaps the Iranian regime will consider toning down its predictions that Israel is a rotting corpse soon to disappear. How would the Muslim-dominated OPEC change if Israel emerged as a top-dog energy producer? Is it possible that oil-poor Muslim nations such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan could be forced to come crawling to the Jewish nation for assistance in meeting their own energy needs? The Russians are already ahead of the game, actually. Putin has already entered into a partnership with Israel through Russia’s state-run energy company, Gazprom, all for the purpose of prying open Israel’s vast offshore natural-gas reserves. Even now, in the early stages of the transition, the potentials for total game changing possibilities are endless.

An Obama Nation: The Voter Fraud That ‘Never Happens’ Keeps Coming Back

By John Fund, National Review Online – “Critics of voter ID and other laws cracking down on voter fraud claim they’re unnecessary because fraud is nonexistent. For instance, Brennan Center attorneys Michael Waldman and Justin Levitt claimed last year: ‘A person casting two votes risks jail time and a fine for minimal gain. Proven voter fraud, statistically, happens about as often as death by lightning strike.’

Well, lightning is suddenly all over Cincinnati, Ohio. The Hamilton County Board of Elections is investigating 19 possible cases of alleged voter fraud that occurred when Ohio was a focal point of the 2012 presidential election. A total of 19 voters and nine witnesses are part of the probe.

Democrat Melowese Richardson has been an official poll worker for the last quarter century and registered thousands of people to vote last year. She candidly admitted to Cincinnati’s Channel 9 this week that she voted twice in the last election.

This is how Channel 9′s website summarized the case:

According to county documents, Richardson’s absentee ballot was accepted on Nov. 1, 2012 along with her signature. On Nov. 11, she told an official she also voted at a precinct because she was afraid her absentee ballot would not be counted in time.

“There’s absolutely no intent on my part to commit voter fraud,” said Richardson. . . .

The board’s documents also state that Richardson was allegedly disruptive and hid things from other poll workers on Election Day after another female worker reported she was intimidated by Richardson. . . .

During the investigation it was also discovered that her granddaughter, India Richardson, who was a first time voter in the 2012 election, cast two ballots in November.

Richardson insists she has done nothing wrong and promises to contest the charges: ‘I’ll fight it for Mr. Obama and for Mr. Obama’s right to sit as president of the United States.’

Kenya: Suspected Islamist Gunmen Attack Two Christian Pastors In Garissa, One Killed

By Alex Murashko, The Christian Post – “Two pastors in Kenya were shot Thursday morning by unknown gunmen who killed one of the men and wounded the other, according to a report from Open Doors, a Christian persecution watchdog.

Open Doors, who has ministry workers in the east Africa country, received information that Pastor Ibrahim Makunyi of the East Africa Pentecostal Church and Pastor Abdi Welli were attacked by the gunmen in the city of Garissa, Kenya. Welli was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital while Pastor Makunyi was immediately rushed to a hospital. Makunyi’s condition was described as stable and out of danger.

Welli, who was evangelized, discipled and mentored by Makunyi, is survived by his wife Hellen and three young sons.

Garissa is a violence-stricken city in northeastern Kenya. Al-Shabaab, an Islamist terrorist group, has been targeting Christians and Christian churches in the area, Open Doors stated. Last July, terrorists killed 16 people during bombings at two churches in Garissa.

‘The attack today is the latest in increasing violence, especially in the Garissa area. It was reported by Open Doors that 22 Christians were killed in incidents last year and over 100 seriously injured or maimed,’ said Open Doors USA spokesman Jerry Dykstra.” Read more.

Report: Barack Obama ‘Covertly Recruiting’ Muslims As U.S. Diplomats

World Tribune – “President Barack Obama is said to have been quietly recruiting Muslims to serve as U.S. diplomats.

Judicial Watch said the Obama administration was hiring Muslims at the State Department. The fiscal watchdog said the recruitment was part of the administration’s outreach to Muslims to work for the federal government.

‘The Obama administration is covertly recruiting Muslims to work at the State Department as Foreign Service officers representing the United States in one of 265 American embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions worldwide,’ Judicial Watch said.

In a report on Jan. 31, Judicial Watch said the administration sought to use the new Muslim recruits to bolster Washington’s relations with the rest of the world. The organization said the recruitment was headed by Mark Ward, deputy special coordinator in the State Department’s Office of Middle East Transition.

‘Ward held a 90-minute seminar at a recent convention sponsored by two groups — Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America — with known ties to radical Islam,’ Judicial Watch said.

The two Muslim groups have been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Investigative Project on Terrorism identified the Muslim American Society as the U.S. chapter of the Brotherhood, with headquarters in Egypt.

‘Besides being a citizenship duty, there are benefits that Muslims can add to the American Muslim community and the global Muslim world by joining the U.S. Foreign Services,’ a statement by the Muslim American Society said in late December 2012. ‘This session will shed light on the different career opportunities for Muslim youth in the U.S. Foreign Services Department. Bangladesh: 19 Christian Children Rescued From Trafficker Intending To Sell Them To Radical Islamic Centers For ‘Suicide Squads’

ICC – “International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that 19 children, who were to be sold to fundamentalist Islamic boarding schools (madrassas), have been rescued. Traffickers lied to the children’s parents, saying they would take the children to Christian boarding schools in Dhaka, when in fact, they were intending to sell the children to various madrassas. Students from Dhaka University discovered the children and rescued them. This is not the first instance of Christian children being trafficked to madrassas, as upwards of 150 children have been rescued from similar situations since July 2012.

According to ICC sources, on February 3, 19 children, age’s five to twelve were rescued from a trafficker named Binoy Tripura. Binoy confessed that he ‘collected the kids from their parents with lies and convinced them that he will admit all the kids to a Missionary [Christian] school in Dhaka.’ He then collected 15,000 Taka (Roughly $183 USD) from each of their parents and intended to receive payment from the madrassa upon delivery of the children.

The children, Christians from the Tripura tribe, realized something was not right during their long bus journey from the remote ‘Cimbuk Hill’ in the Bandarban district to Bangladesh’s capitol city, Dhaka. Twelve of the children ran away at a rest stop and called their parents to explain what was happening. Not knowing what else to do, the parents called Tripura tribal students attending Dhaka University, desperately asking for help. The University students met the bus in Dhaka, rescued the remaining six children, and captured Binoy, who is now in police custody.

This is not the first instance of Christian children being trafficked to madrassas. This year alone, 55 children have been rescued from madrassas in Dhaka. On January 2, police rescued 21 children from five madrassas and ‘other Islamic organizations.’ ICC sources say that these children were forcibly converted to Islam and had their Christian names legally changed to Muslim ones. They believe the children, once fully brainwashed at the madrassa, were ‘destined for suicide squads’ for use in jihad.” Read more.

Egypt: Anti-Christian Hostility Heating Up Amid Unrest, Children To Be Tried In Court For ‘Insulting’ Islam

Morning Star News – “Among files on arrested converts from Islam, kidnapped Christian girls and beaten monks piling up on the desk of a noted lawyer in Egypt, on top is the case of two boys about to be tried for allegedly showing contempt of Islam.

Attorney Karam Gabriel said anti-Christian hostilities in the restive country are getting worse as the two boys are to be tried in a court in Beni Suef – the same city where a mother and her seven children were convicted last month for reconverting to Christianity – for showing ‘contempt to Islamic religion and insulting the Koran.’

The accusation against Nabil Naji Rizq and Mina Atallah (identified in some press reports as Mina Nadi Faraj), who were 10 and 9 years old respectively at the time of their arrest in late September, of insulting the Koran made headlines throughout the country after a man saw them playing in rubbish that he claimed included pages from the Koran. Accusing them of tearing pages of Islam’s holy book – a later version of the story had them allegedly urinating on it – he filed a report that led to the arrest of the two children. They were released in early October.

Angry protestors from Beni Suef reportedly intimidated Christian residents of the nearby village of Ezbat Marco at that time and prevented them from going to work.

‘They are just small children, and they don’t really understand what all the fuss is about – they can’t even tell the difference between the Koran, the Bible or any other holy book,’ Gabriel said.

Clearly outraged at recent cases of hostility toward Coptic Christians in the post-Hosni Mubarak era, Gabriel said that since Mohamed Morsi came to power last June, the Christian community is in dire need of protection. Tensions are such that, for the moment, there is no information on the exact date of the two boys’ trial, as authorities fear it will exacerbate hostilities in the city.

Beni Suef became a greater flash point last month after a criminal court sentenced Nadia Muhammad Ali and her seven children to 15 years for re-converting to Christianity after having converted to Islam. Leaving Islam is punishable by death in the traditional view of sharia that most Muslim scholars uphold, and sharia is cited as a source of law in Egypt’s new constitution approved in a December referendum.” Read more.

Egypt: Salafist Muslims Kidnap 13-Year Old Christian Girl, Attempt To Convert Her To Islam

AINA – “On December 23, 2012, 13-year-old Agape Essam Girgis from the village of Nahda, el-Ameriya, near Alexandria, went to school as usual. Failing to return home, the family knew that she went out of school accompanied by the Muslim social worker Heba and two teachers, one of the them a Salafist. She stayed missing for 9 days during which the family and sympathizers organized a sit-in in front of the renowned Alexandria Library. The Coptic Church in Alexandria also organized a conference on December 30 on the abduction of Coptic girls, with focus on Agape, which was attended by journalists and the public.

On December 31 state security contacted Bishop Pachomios and told him that they have the kidnapped girl. She was handed over to her family and the church priest where she stayed with his family for some time due to the terrible ordeal she experienced during her abduction.

Bishop Pachomios said in an aired interview with Al Balad TV that what happened to Agape is ‘heart-breaking.’ He said that she went in a taxi with her school’s social worker Heba and two men, and that she was drugged and awakened to find herself in a secluded place with an elderly woman. He said that after she returned home he spoke to her and she said that the Salafists tried to convert her to Islam.

Activist Ramy Attia Zakaria, of the April 6 Liberal Movement in Alexandria, interviewed Agape upon her return and said it is now confirmed that her Muslim social worker Heba was behind the abduction. ‘Agape left school with her and two teachers. The girl was drugged in the car to wake up in a secluded house with two sheikhs and an elderly woman,’ Ramy said. He added that Agape stayed there for about eight days until three sheikhs came and spoke with one of the sheikhs she was staying with, telling him that Agape has to returned to her family as they are making demonstrations for her return. Agape said that during her stay with the Salafis sheikhs they tried to make her convert to Islam by saying the ‘Islamic Two Faith Confessions’ but she refused. They forced her to wear the full veil and took photos of her in this dress. Agape said that she was beaten two or three times when she refused to convert to Islam.” Read more.
