‘This Is A Serious Event’: Millions Of Dead Fish Wash Ashore In Iceland, Entire Season’s Worth Of Herring Lost

02/06/2013 6 comments

FoxNews – “Researchers in Iceland are blaming low oxygen levels in a shallow fjord for the deaths of tens of thousands of tons of herring.

Masses of dead herring have been found in Kolgrafafjordur fjord for the second time this winter, raising concerns about Iceland’s fishery.

The Morgunbladid newspaper estimated the value of the 10,000 tons of fish found dead this week at 1.25 billion kronur ($9.8 million). An even larger number of fish died in December.

Roughly one season’s worth of herring has been lost, Johann Sigurjonsson, director of Iceland’s Marine Research Institute, said Wednesday.

He said herring tend to winter in large populations and may have depleted the oxygen in the shallow fjord. The danger should ease in spring when the herring spread out into a wider area, he said, downplaying fears that the entire herring fishery is in danger.

‘We regard this as a serious event,’ he said. ‘We are investigating; we would like to find out if it is necessary to try to step in somehow.’

The government’s economic minister has increased funding for monitoring in the area to determine what can be done to prevent more fish from dying off.” Read more.

Israel And The Ever-Elusive Muslim Unity

Daniel 2:41, “Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.”

By Robert Spencer, Frontpage Mag – “It was a momentous occasion: the first visit to Egypt by a President of Iran since the founding of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Egypt Tuesday to an enthusiastic welcome from Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi and top Egyptian officials. Yet underneath the kisses and expressions of mutual regard, the visit revealed yet again how deep the divisions are in the Islamic world – and why Sunnis and Shi’ites may only be able to unite on the basis of their mutual hatred of Israel.

Then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said of the Islamic world in January 2007:

‘There’s still a tendency to see these things in Sunni-Shia terms. But the Middle East is going to have to overcome that.’ Rice’s statement, of course, was staggeringly naïve, and manifested a deep ignorance of the region, as well as of Islam. No one should be surprised that six years later, Sunnis and Shias still haven’t ‘overcome’ their tendency to ‘see these things in Sunni-Shia terms,’ and chances are that in six hundred more years, they still will not have done so, for the Sunni-Shi’ite divide goes back to the earliest days of Islam, and yet in fourteen hundred years has not burnt itself out, but still rages today as fiercely as ever.

And so it was that as Sunnis and Shias war against each other in Iraq and Pakistan, the Shi’ite President of Iran touched down in Sunni Cairo and was almost immediately scolded by Ahmed al-Tayeb, the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar University, the foremost institution in Sunni Islam, for Iran’s meddling in Bahrain. Almost seventy percent of Bahrainis are Shias, but the king and the ruling elites are Sunnis, and in Bahrain’s version of the ‘Arab Spring,’ the ‘pro-democracy’ protesters were Shias who wanted either closer ties with Iran or for Bahrain to be annexed outright by the Islamic Republic, in line with Iran’s claim that it is actually an Iranian province.

But al-Tayeb told Ahmadinejad to back off, and to recognize that Bahrain was a ‘sisterly Arab nation’ – i.e., within the Sunni Arab, not the Shi’ite Persian domain. And according to a senior al-Azhar cleric, Hassan al-Shafai, al-Tayeb and Ahmadinejad quickly began squabbling about Sunni-Shi’ite theological disagreements. His assessment of the meeting was far from positive: ‘There ensued some misunderstandings on certain issues that could have an effect on the cultural, political and social climate of both countries. The issues were such that the grand sheikh saw that the meeting … did not serve the desired purpose.’

However much he got mired in theological issues with al-Tayeb, however, Ahmadinejad still had another hope for Islamic unity: mutual hatred of Israel. ‘The political geography of the region will change,’ he asserted, ‘if Iran and Egypt take a unified position on the Palestinian question.’ He expressed the hope that the people of Gaza would allow him to Read more…

Muslim Persecution Of Christians: December, 2012

02/06/2013 Leave a comment

Matthew 10:22, “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.”

By Raymond Ibrahim, Gatestone Institute – “As usual, the month of Christmas saw an uptick in Christian persecution under Islam, in a variety of forms, from insults to murders. In Iran, Pastor Youssef Nadarkhani—after being imprisoned and tormented for years for converting to Christianity, then recently released thanks to international pressure—was rearrested again, on Christmas Day, to serve the remainder of his 45 days, which the court had earlier decreed could be served in the form of probation. In Syria, near Christmas, Islamic rebels beheaded Andrei Arbashe, a 38-year-old Christian man, and fed his body to dogs. In Nigeria, Christmas mass celebrations in several churches, were, once again, turned into scenes of carnage; and in Pakistan, Christians spent yet another ‘Dark Christmas.’

There were also the usual fatwas [Islamic legal decrees], forbidding Muslims to acknowledge Christmas: in ‘moderate’ Indonesia, the nation’s top Muslim clerical body said that Muslims should not offer Christians greetings such as ‘Merry Christmas,’ and that Muslims are forbidden from attending any Christmas celebrations. In Egypt, the Committee for Rights and Reform issued a similar fatwa, forbidding Muslims to congratulate Christians during Christmas. Even in the West, in Australia, the Lakemba Mosque issued a fatwa warning Muslims that it is a ‘sin’ to wish people a Merry Christmas, because Christmas Day is among the ‘falsehoods that a Muslim should avoid … and therefore, a Muslim is neither allowed to celebrate the Christmas Day nor is he allowed to congratulate them [Christians].’

Categorized by theme, the rest of December’s batch of Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed by theme and in country alphabetical order, not necessarily according to severity:

Church Attacks

Denmark: A gang of ‘youths’ accosted the Holy Cross Church in the heart of Nørrebro in Copenhagen, which has a large Muslim population, telling Christian leaders that the church was ‘in their territory and therefore has to pay money.’

Indonesia: More than 200 Muslims threw rotten eggs at Christians for trying to hold a Christmas Mass in empty land outside Jakarta, after their church, the Philadelphia Batak Protestant Church, was illegally closed. According to a photographer, furious Muslims—men and women wearing the Islamic veil, and with small children in tow—physically blocked the road and hurled rotten eggs at the worshippers as they gathered. According to a pastor, ‘intolerant people’ threw not only rotten eggs, but plastic bags filled with Read more…

Affirming The Righteous Judgments Of Messiah Jesus

Isaiah 5:20a, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness …”

By Joel Richardson – “The following post contains a handful of Biblical passages describing the nature of the Day of the Lord and the return of Jesus, emphasizing the wrath, judgment and violence that He will use as He executes justice against the wicked. I’ve also juxtaposed some comments by neo-liberal Brian Mclaren concerning his views on the return of Jesus. Mclaren’s comments are instructive. First, Mclaren’s derogatory comments about Jesus are deeply offensive to me as a follower, worshipper and lover of Jesus. Second, Mclaren’s arrogance, hubris and confrontational approach toward those who hold to a historical, conservative, literalist hermeneutic should be noted by all who care about preserving orthodoxy. And finally, it is the sharp contrast between Mclaren’s comments and the Scriptures that should be noted again, by all who desire to be men and woman of the Scriptures and not men and woman whose faith-system is dictated by the spirit of the age. As Paul so aptly warned (my paraphrase), ‘Do not allow yourself to be conformed to this world, rather be transformed [into the image of the living Word of God], by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.’ (Romans 12:2)

The eyes of the arrogant man will be humbled and the pride of men brought low, the LORD alone will be exalted in that day… The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted. And they will be humbled. —Isaiah 2:11,13

The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”  The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion… The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth. —Psalm 110:,1-2,4-6

Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of his strength? “It is I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.” Why are your garments red, like those of one treading the winepress? “I have trodden the winepress alone; from the nations no one was with me. I trampled them in my anger and trod them down in my wrath; their blood spattered my garments, and I stained all my clothing. For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redemption has come. —Isaiah 63:1-4

Come near, you nations, and listen;
pay attention, you peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, the world, and all that comes out of it!  The LORD is angry with all nations; his wrath is upon all their armies. He will totally destroy them, he will give them over to slaughter… My sword has Read more…

Ahmadinejad: Iran Already A Nuclear State, Has ‘No Intention’ Of Attacking Israel (But Is Determined To Wipe It Out)

02/06/2013 4 comments

Read between the lines of dark sentences. Iranian President Ahmadinejad says that they have “no intention” of launching an attack against Israel. Of course, he purposefully makes no mention of what Allah’s intention is, however …

By Jack Khoury, Haaretz – “Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that while Iran is already a nuclear state, it has no intention of attacking Israel. Ahmadinejad was interviewed on the eve of his visit to Cairo, where he will attend the 12th Islamic Summit Conference, due to open there on Wednesday.

Before his trip, he gave a long interview to the editor-in-chief of Egypt’s newspaper Al-Ahram. Although Al-Ahram ran the entire interview only in its print edition, excerpts appeared on Egyptian websites.

Ahmadinejad said the world must now treat Iran as a nuclear country. ‘They want Iran to go back to what it was in the past, but they won’t succeed. They assume we’ll give in to pressure; such thoughts are misguided. We’re already an industrial and nuclear country, a country that has conquered space. For years we have been thinking about sending a human being into space, and we will do that, with Allah’s help. We must ensure development and growth and bring them to pass, and the world must acknowledge our progress,’ he said, adding that the best solution was cooperation with Iran.

Mentioning the possibility of an Israeli attack on Iran, Ahmadinejad said that while it might be easy to launch missiles or attack using fighter jets, Iran’s response and defense capability were important in this context.” Read more.

Ahmadinejad: Iran Ready to ‘March on Israel, Wipe It Out’ – “The Iranian people are ready to march on Israel to ‘wipe it out’ if the Jewish state attacks the Islamic republic, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in his latest anti-Semitic diatribe, published Wednesday by Egypt’s state news agency. ‘The people of Iran are ready to march on Israel to wipe it out if it launches into an adventure against Tehran’ and attacks the country, the Iranian president told Egyptian media, according to excerpts published by MENA.” Read more.

Flashback: Ahmadinejad: Iran is Determined to Eradicate the ‘Infectious Tumor’ of Israel, ‘Will Never Withdraw’ From This Policy – “Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran was determined to eradicate Israel, ISNA news agency reported Thursday. ‘Iran believes that whoever is for humanity should also be for eradicating the Zionist regime … Iran follows this issue (the eradication of Israel) with determination and decisiveness and will never ever withdraw from this standpoint and policy …” Read more.

Flashback: Destruction Of Israel Is Uncompromising Islamic Obligation, Must Be Destroyed For Allah – “[T]he murder of Jews becomes a prerequisite for and fulfillment of the Islamic ideal. In a 2011 poll, (by Israel Project) 73% of Palestinians said they ‘believe’ the Islamic Hadith that preaches it is Islamic destiny to kill Jews wherever they are. Similarly, the conflict with Israel is presented as a Ribat, an uncompromising Islamic obligation to defend or liberate Islamic holy land. Israel is said to exist on Islamic holy land that must be liberated for Allah.” Read more.

An Obama Nation: Seven Million Will Lose Medical Insurance Under Obama Health Law

02/05/2013 2 comments

By Stephen Dinan, The Washington Times – “President Obama’s health care law will push 7 million people out of their job-based insurance coverage — nearly twice the previous estimate, according to the latest estimates from the Congressional Budget Office released Tuesday.

CBO said that this year’s tax cuts have changed the incentives for businesses and made it less attractive to pay for insurance, meaning fewer will decide to do so. Instead, they’ll choose to pay a penalty to the government, totaling $13 billion in higher fees over the next decade.

But the non-partisan agency also expects fewer people to have to pay individual penalties to the IRS than it earlier projects, because of a better method for calculating incomes that found more people will be exempt.

Overall, the new health provisions are expected to cost the government $1.165 trillion over the next decade — the same as last year’s projection.” Read more.

Labor Unions Finally Read Obamacare Fine Print, Realize Costs Set To Spike, ‘Turn Sour’ On Obama – “It is a well-known fact that nobody in Congress ever reads, or even skims, any law, and especially not the fine print, it passes until long after it has been enacted into law. It appears the same is just as true for the biggest pillar of support for the Obama administration: America’s labor unions … the same labor unions who enthusiastically supported the primary accomplishment of the Obama administration in the past 4 years, Obamacare, only to realize, long after it has become reality that, surprise, their healthcare plan costs are about to go up.” Read more.

Israeli Media: Barack Obama To Visit Israel March 20th

02/05/2013 18 comments

For those interested in coincidences (or non-coincidences), 119 Ministries teaches that the beginning of the 1260 days leading up to the Second Coming of Christ may possibly begin right around the Spring Equinox of 2013. Although there are some who believe that Barack Hussein Obama is the Antichrist of Scripture — a view which I do not myself hold — if by chance 119 Ministries is correct in their assessment, which they could conceivably be, what role could Barack Obama possibly play during the event that ultimately ushers in the countdown to the coming of Christ Jesus in power and great glory, if any? As the Apostle Paul tells us, let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch …

By Maayana Miskin, INN – “United States President Barack Obama is planning his first trip to Israel as president, the Reuters news agency reports. Obama did not visit Israel during his first term.

According to Channel 10 news, Obama is planning to land in Israel on March 20. The White House has not yet confirmed a date.

The visit was reportedly planned following Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s victory in the elections. Netanyahu has been tapped to head the next coalition government.

Obama is expected to focus on reviving diplomatic talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. It is believed he will visit Ramallah during his stay.

Netanyahu has publicly named the resumption of Israel-PA talks as one of his top priorities for his upcoming term. The head of Israel’s second-largest party, Yair Lapid of Yesh Atid, has declared that his party will join the government only if there are serious efforts to resume negotiations.

The PA has so far refused to talk with Netanyahu unless Israel agrees to several conditions, including a full construction freeze everywhere east of the 1949 armistice line, including much of Jerusalem.

PA leaders have also demanded that Israel release terrorist prisoners, allow weapons imports, and agree in principle to giving the PA all of Judea and Samaria, with possible land swaps, for the creation of a new Arab state.” Source – INN.

Ahmadinejad Arrives In Cairo For First Visit By An Iranian Leader Since 1979

02/05/2013 Leave a comment

Why not? Egypt has, after all, become one of many new Irans. Though certain aspects of Islam divide them, one aspect keeps them united: their hatred of Israel and the West …

By Joel C. Rosenberg – “New political tremors rippled through the epicenter today as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a Radical Shia Muslim, arrived in Cairo to meet with Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, a Radical Sunni Muslim. This is the first time an Iranian leader has visited Egypt since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Is this the beginning of a true rapprochement between the two extremist leaders of the major Shia and Sunni powers? If so, the implications for regional security — and notably for Israeli security and U.S. interests in the region – could be troublesome. Then again, maybe the two leaders are just taking each other’s measure. Either way, it’s a development worth noting and watching carefully.

‘President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad discussed the crisis in Syria with his Egyptian counterpart Tuesday in the first visit by an Iranian leader to Cairo in more than three decades, marking a historic departure from years of frigid ties between the regional heavyweights,’ reports the Associated Press. ‘Ahmadinejad’s three-day visit, which is centered around an Islamic summit, is the latest sign of improved relations between the countries since the 2011 uprising ousted Egypt’s longtime ruler President Hosni Mubarak and brought an Islamist government to power in Cairo. Such a visit would have been unthinkable under Mubarak, who was a close ally of the U.S. and shared Washington’s deep suspicions of Tehran. Egypt’s Islamist President Mohammed Morsi gave Ahmadinejad a red-carpet welcome on the tarmac at Cairo airport, shaking the Iranian’s hand and exchanging a kiss on each cheek as a military honor guard stood at attention.’

‘The two leaders then sat down for a 20-minute talk that focused on the civil war in Syria, security officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media. Iran is Damascus’ closes regional ally, while Egypt is among those that have called on Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down,’ AP reported. ‘In September, Morsi offered a package of incentives to Tehran to end its support for Assad. The proposal included the restoration of full diplomatic ties, which would be a significant prize for Iran given that Egypt is the most populous Arab nation and a regional Sunni powerhouse. Morsi’s offer garnered no response from Iran, although officials from both countries have continued to hold talks on the Syrian conflict in recent months….Once close, Egypt and Iran severed their relations after the 1979 Islamic Revolution when Cairo offered exile to Iran’s deposed shah. Relations further deteriorated after Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel.'” Source – Joel. C Rosenberg’s Blog.

‘Christianity Can Go To Hell’, ‘We Are Coming To Implement Islam Immediately … Upon Your Own Necks’ Says New Muslim Patrol Video In London

02/05/2013 1 comment

For peaceful purposes. Notice how Islamists in 21st century London are now threatening to “implement Islam” through the inference of beheading

The Commentator – “Having been exposed, here on The Commentator in January, the group responsible for the now infamous ‘Muslim Patrol’ videos has been subject to police action, resulting in five arrests last week.

Since then, however, a seventh ‘Muslim Patrol’ video has come to light (see below).

Though it is not possible to say with certainty that the newest video was recorded after recent media and police interest, the video features a number of comments which would suggest that the latest clip is indeed a reaction to the public backlash:

‘Those people attacking Muslim Patrol because of our activities against Western society are clearly misguided away from the understanding of worship of Allah’, remarks one particpant.

‘Islam is here in London, Mr. David Cameron, Mr. police officer, whether you like it or not. We are commanding good and forbidding evil on this Saturday night, while the police, they try to get us through the media’, says another.

Also notable is a subtle difference in style. Specifically, there is less evidence of intimidation and harassment of citizens, and more time dedicated to issuing threats/stated intentions. It should also be noted that the video is replete with firearm and explosive sound-effects.

One anonymous participant, cloaked in a keffiyeh, aggressively suggests,

‘The khuffar, you can go to hell; this is not a Christian country. Christianity, you can go to hell.’

Before boasting:

‘We are in East London, we are in South London, we are in North London… the police cannot stop us, the khuffar cannot stop us. We are coming to implement Islam immediately.’

He continues: ‘anyone who tries to stop us, we will take their alcohol, we will tell the women to cover up, and we will implement Islam upon your own necks [sic] David Cameron.'” Source – The Commentator.

‘We Look Forward To A European Summer’: Islamist Threatens To Attack Germany, Kill Chancellor Angela Merkel

Reuters – “A German Islamist has threatened to attack Berlin this summer and kill Chancellor Angela Merkel in a video posted on the Internet, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

A spokesman for Germany’s intelligence service, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, confirmed its agents had seen such a video.

‘This is an Islamist battle song. It is known to the security services and is being evaluated,’ said the spokesman.

Die Welt newspaper reported that a three-minute video had surfaced on the Internet with a German Islamist calling himself Abu Azzam, believed to be a radical Salafist who moved to Egypt last year.

‘Looking back at an Arab spring, we are looking forward to a European summer,’ said Abu Azzam in the video, according to the newspaper.

‘Osama, wait for us… We want to see Obama and Merkel dead,’ he was quoted as saying, adding that Germany’s Reichstag parliament building would be subject to attacks like those on New York’s World Trade Center in 2001.” Read more.

But that isn’t the only way to attract unwanted attention, as Jochen Hartloff, the interior minister of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, found out this week. In an interview with the Berlin tabloid BZ, Hartloff said that Sharia law, in a ‘modern form,’ would be acceptable in Germany.” Read more.

Burkas For Babies: Saudi Cleric Issues Fatwa Calling For The Veiling Of All Female Babies

02/05/2013 2 comments

If tiny little baby girls are forced to wear the burka, how will the Purveyors of Pickiness ever know which ones to select for marriage? …

By Mohammad Alyousei, Al Arabiya – “A Saudi cleric has called for all female babies to be fully covered by wearing the face veil, commonly known as the burka, citing reports of little girls being sexually molested.

In a TV interview on the Islamic al-Majd TV, which seems to date back to mid-last year, Sheikh Abdullah Daoud, stressed that wearing the veil will protect baby girls. The Sheikh tried to back his assertion with claims of sexual molestation against babies in the kingdom, quoting unnamed medical and security sources.

Recently picked up on social media, Sheikh Dauod’s statement prompted wide condemnation from his fellow Saudis on Twitter. Some tweeps called for the Sheikh to be held accountable because his ruling denigrates Islam and breaches individual privacy.

Sheikh Mohammad al-Jzlana, former judge at the Saudi Board of Grievances, told Al Arabiya that Dauod’s ruling was denigrating to Islam and Shariah and made Islam look bad. [Edit: Well, of course. Because aart from this flaky fatwa Islam looks perfectly peaceful and benign …]

Jzlana urged people to ignore unregulated fatwas and explained that there are special regulations set by the Saudi authorities to administer religious edicts and appoint those who are entitled to issue them.

He said that he feels sad whenever he sees a family walking around with a veiled baby, describing that as injustice to children.” Source – Al Arabiya.

Flashback: New Saudi Fatwa Defends Pedophilia as ‘Marriage’ – “Muslim ‘child-marriage’ — euphemism for pedophilia — is making headlines again, at least in Arabic media: Dr. Salih bin Fawzan, a prominent cleric and member of Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council, just issued a fatwa asserting that there is no minimum age for marriage, and that girls can be married ‘even if they are in the cradle.’ … Fawzan insists that nowhere does Sharia set an age limit for marrying girls: like countless Muslim scholars before him, he relies on Koran 65:4, which discusses marriage to females who have not yet begun menstruating (i.e., are prepubescent) and the fact that Muhammad, Islam’s role model, married Aisha when she was 6-years-old, ‘consummating’ the marriage — or, in modern parlance, raping her — when she was 9.” Read more.

Pakistan: Christian Man Murdered For Refusing To Convert To Islam

02/05/2013 Leave a comment

By Jibran Khan, AsiaNews – “Younas Masih died this afternoon after he was shot five times last Thursday as he made his way home. An unknown gunman fired at the 55-year-old Christian man. From the beginning, his conditions appeared critical. It is believed he was attacked after he resisted pressures from co-workers to convert to Islam.

Masih worked for a company in Chaman. His friends describe him as honest and reliable. Strong in his Christian faith, he was regularly involved in his local parish.

Speaking anonymously, local sources told AsiaNews that Muslim co-workers had began pressuring him to convert, which he rejected, standing firm in his beliefs in Christ.

Despite the fact that people were talking behind his back and had made repeated threats against him, he continued to work for the same company and stood firm against pressures and attempts at blackmail.

Last Thursday, his co-workers tried again, asking him to convert. A heated discussion followed that included insults and threats. When he went home Masih was attacked by a gunman who fired five bullets into him.

After he was rushed to a hospital, his conditions appeared critical from the start. Doctors removed the bullets and had him moved into the intensive care unit where he eventually died.

His son tried to file a First Information Report (FIR) with local police who refused to register his complaint. Despite repeated attempts, they refused to heed the family’s pleas for justice. Devastated by his death, the family now feels abandoned by the authorities.” Read more.
