By Shafique Khokhar, AsiaNews – “For more than five months there has been no news of Saba Waris , a 13 year old Christian girl from Jameelabad . The little girl was abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and forced to marry Syed Munawar Hussain, a Muslim of 32 years . Naseem Bibi, the child’s mother asks AsiaNews for ‘any help possible. I want my daughter back and I want justice.’ So far, the woman has gone to the police, but without success.

It all started on 20 June.  Saba ‘s family is poor and had to remove her from school because of economic difficulties. Usually she would accompany her mother to work, but that day she was not well and preferred to stay at home. In the few hours in which she was alone, Hussain broke into the house and abducted her. Naseem Bibi returned home in the afternoon and not being able to find her daughter was on her way to report her missing, when the Muslim kidnapper’s a mother, sister and a brother showed up and told her that Munawar Hussain had taken Saba .

Naseem wanted to go to the police, but  the others asked her to wait four days, during which they would try to find a way to bring back her daughter. A couple of days later , she received a phone call from Saba, who said: ‘Munawar Hussain has kidnapped me and tried to force me convert to Islam’. Soon after, the call was cut off.

Once the four days were up, the man’s mother and sister returned to Naseem Bibi and said that Saba was married to Munawar and that she had converted to Islam. ‘Do not go to the police or court – they threatened her  – or you will be responsible for serious consequences. She is a Muslim now: stop thinking about her, forget her’…” Read more.

Two gunmen from Boko Haram kidnapped Hajja, a 19- year-old Christian in July as she picked corn near her village in the Gwoza hills, a remote part of northeastern Nigeria where a six-month-old government offensive is struggling to contain an insurgency by Boko Haram.

‘If I cried, they beat me. If I spoke, they beat me. They told me I must become a Muslim but I refused again and again,’ Hajja told Reuters in an interview.

The Islamists threatened her with a knife pressed to her throat and said her options were to convert to Islam or die.

Aaron Jensen, a spokesman for the United States government’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday, ‘We have seen reports of forced conversion and enslavement.

The United States strongly condemns any acts of forced conversion or enslavement if true. These alleged actions violate fundamental human rights, including the right to freedom of conscience.’

Boko Haram is generally translated as ‘Western education is sinful.’ In a telephone interview with the Post about Boko Haram and radical Islamist groups, David Cook, a professor of religious studies at the Houston-based Rice University, said Boko Haram’s methods are ‘part of a pattern you can find in a lot of groups, Salafi Jihadists, for example, in Syria.’

Cook, a leading expert on Boko Haram, estimates core membership to be a few thousand to perhaps as many as 5,000.

Tiffany Lynch, senior policy analyst at the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, told the Post by email that ‘Boko Haram’s stated goal is the implementation of Shari’a nationwide and in 2012 called on all Christians to leave northern Nigeria. With this goal, Boko Haram attacks churches during worship services to maximize its killing, kills individual Christians, forces Christians to convert to Islam or die, kills persons engaged in what it believes is ‘un-Islamic’ behavior, and kills Muslim critics.’

Lynch added that from January 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013, USCIRF found that Boko Haram had initiated religiously motivated attacks on 50 churches that were ‘bombed, burned or attacked, killing at least 366 persons.” She continued that there were 31 seperate attacks on Christians or southerners perceived to be Christian, ‘killing at least 166 persons.'” Read more.

By Anne Gearan and Joby Warrick, The Washington Post – “Iran and six major powers agreed early Sunday on an historic deal that freezes key parts of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for temporary relief on some economic sanctions, diplomats confirmed.

The deal was reached after four days of marathon bargaining and an 11th-hour intervention by U.S. Secretary of State John F. Kerry and other foreign ministers from Europe, Russia and China. the sources said.

The agreement, sealed at 3 a.m. signing ceremony in Geneva’s Palace of Nations, requires Iran to halt or scale back parts of it nuclear infrastructure, the first such pause in more than a decade.

‘We have reached an agreement,’ Michael Mann, spokesman for European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said in a Twitter posting.

‘We have reached an agreement,’ echoed Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a separate posting.

Negotiations had run into the late evening, with the foreign ministers of Britain, France, Germany, China, Russia the European Union and the United States huddled in a hotel conference room. Several of the diplomats met earlier in the day with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who told reporters that the parties remained divided on key details of the six-month trial deal.

The talks had remained snarled despite the last-minute intervention of Kerry, who flew to Geneva for the second time in two weeks to try to break the impasse. The Obama administration has been seeking to quickly finalize an agreement in the face of threats by Congress to impose additional economic sanctions on Iran.

The marathon discussions with Iran were described by Western diplomats as ‘very difficult’ and ‘intense,’ and several officials had sought to lower expectations that a resolution could be reached before Sunday, when Kerry and the other foreign ministers were due to depart.

Kerry, Zarif and the lead E.U. negotiator, Catherine Ashton, met late Saturday, but the session ended with no announcement of progress. Instead, Iran’s deputy foreign minister hardened his country’s position.

Although ’98 percent’ of the deal was done, Iran said it could not accept any agreement that does not recognize what it calls its uranium enrichment rights, Abbas Araghchi told reporters.

‘Any agreement without recognizing Iran’s right to enrich, practically and verbally, will be unacceptable for Tehran,’ Araghchi said, according to Reuters.

Araghchi and Zarif have insisted that the deal hinges on international recognition of Iran’s right to enrich uranium, a matter of deep national pride.

The proposed deal offered to Iran would reportedly allow limited uranium enrichment, although under tight restrictions and heavy international monitoring. But Western officials have balked at recognizing a legal ‘right’ to uranium enrichment, hoping instead to craft language in the final agreement that acknowledges the right of all countries to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. And does this “deal” even bother to include language explicity restricting any nuclear material or weapons whatsoever from outside Iran? The Islamic Republic may agree on a deal that “freezes key parts” of its nuclear program temporarily, but this could very easily be “outsourced” via their expanded “ties” with North Korea …

‘Largest Massacre Of Christians In Syria’ Ignored

By Raymond Ibrahim, Frontpage Mag – “The worst Christian massacre—complete with mass graves, tortured-to-death women and children, and destroyed churches—recently took place in Syria, at the hands of the U.S.-supported jihadi ‘rebels’; and the U.S. government and its ‘mainstream media’ mouthpiece are, as usual, silent (that is, when not actively trying to minimize matters).

The massacre took place in Sadad, an ancient Syriac Orthodox Christian habitation, so old as to be mentioned in the Old Testament.  Most of the region’s inhabitants are poor, as Sadad is situated in the remote desert between Homs and Damascus (desert regions, till now, apparently the only places Syria’s Christians could feel secure; 600 Christian families had earlier fled there for sanctuary from the jihad, only to be followed by it).

In late October, the U.S-supported ‘opposition’ invaded and occupied Sadad for over a week, till ousted by the nation’s military.  Among other atrocities, 45 Christians—including women and children—were killed, several tortured to death; Sadat’s 14 churches, some ancient, were ransacked and destroyed; the bodies of six people from one family, ranging from ages 16 to 90, were found at the bottom of a well (an increasingly common fate for ‘subhuman’ Christians).

The jihadis even made a graphic video (with English subtitles) of those whom they massacred, while shouting Islam’s victory-cry, ‘Allahu Akbar’ (which John McCain equates to a Christian saying ‘thank God’).  Another video, made after Sadad was liberated shows more graphic atrocities.

Here are the words of Archbishop Selwanos Boutros Alnemeh, Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of Homs and Hama (another detailed account, with pictures, appears here):

What happened in Sadad is the most serious and biggest massacre of Christians in Syria in the past two years and a half… 45 innocent civilians were martyred for no reason, and among them several women and children, many thrown into mass graves. Other civilians were threatened and terrorized. 30 were wounded and 10 are still missing. For one week, 1,500 families were held as hostages and human shields. Among them children, the elderly, the young, men and women….  All the houses of Sadad were robbed and property looted. The churches are damaged and desecrated, deprived of old books and precious furniture…  What happened in Sadad is the largest massacre of Christians in Syria and the second in the Middle East, after the one in the Church of Our Lady of Salvation in Iraq, in 2010.

In the Iraqi attack of 2010, al-Qaeda linked jihadis stormed the church during service killing some 60 Christian worshippers (see here for graphic images of the aftermath).

While the archbishop is correct that this is the ‘largest massacre of Christians in Syria,’ it is but the tip of the iceberg of the persecution the nation’s Christian minority has suffered—including beheadings, church bombings, kidnappings, rapes, and dislocation of hundreds of thousands of Christians—since the war broke out …” Read more.

Drawing Near Unto ‘Allah’: Hamas Threatens Israel With Genocide

According to Jonathan Dahoah Halevi of the Alternative Angle blog, the comments were made last week as Hamas marked the first anniversary of the IDF’s counter-terrorism Operation Pillar of Defense which took place in November of 2012.

According to Halevi, Hamas celebrated its ‘victory’ over Israel, saying that the round of fighting demonstrates the ability of terrorist groups to deter Israel through missile attacks on key large urban areas, particularly Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and through the continuous improvement of military capabilities and the use of tunnels for strategic terrorist attacks, including kidnapping of soldiers to use as bargaining chips.

The victory speeches given by officials in Hamas repeatedly highlighted the group’s commitment to the liberation of all ‘Palestinian territory’, denying the right of the ‘Zionists’ to settle in the land of Israel and a declaration of the intent to perform genocide against Jews when the balance of power is reversed.

This message was expressed in a speech on November 13, 2013 given by Khalil Al-Hayya, a senior Hamas figure who is a Hamas parliamentarian, a member of the political bureau of Hamas and the Association of Palestinian Scholars which is affiliated with Hamas.

‘This way [Hamas’s commitment to jihad] says to them:

[You] Zionists, you have no place on the land of Palestine … we shall expel you from our land and we will fight against you on it [on the land], we will kill you or expel you from it when you are submissive … the jihad and the martyrdom in the way of Allah are our road and our track which are meant to fulfill our triumphs and fulfill and protect our [Muslim] nation.'” Read more.

WND – “A school board in Florida, which wields considerable influence on the curricula of public schools nationwide, has decided to keep a controversial world history textbook that has been criticized for sanitizing Islam’s violent history while diminishing Christianity.

The decision Monday by the Volusia County board, without a formal vote, came after hearing four hours of public comment, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.

The dispute over the ‘World History’ textbook published by Prentice Hall escalated earlier this month after a Deltona High School parent complained about its treatment of Islam to a friend, who organized a protest rally before the School Board’s scheduled Nov. 5 meeting. The meeting ended up being canceled due to unspecified ‘security concerns’ raised by the U.S. Justice Department.

An opponent of the book at the hearing Monday, Walter Hanford, said it ‘whitewashes’ the history of Islam, including the involvement of Muslims in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, the Daytona Beach paper reported.

The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has called protests against the book ‘un-American.’

Wilfredo Ruiz, an attorney for CAIR-Florida, has insisted that opponents ‘just want to create an environment of intolerance toward Muslims and an environment of hate against Islam.’

CAIR, meanwhile, was named in 2007 by the U.S. Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in a plot to fund the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas.

According to FBI wiretap evidence from a 1993 meeting of Muslim Brotherhood leaders and activists in Philadelphia, CAIR was formed to burnish the image of Muslims in the U.S. in support of the Brotherhood’s stated aim of ‘destroying Western civilization from within’ and replacing it with Islamic rule.

More than 500 students at five Volusia high schools signed a petition in favor of keeping the textbook and the accompanying curriculum, the News-Journal reported.

‘We hope that the School Board will respect our voices in the process of education and reject voices of intolerance and censorship,’ the petition states.

Opponents argue the textbook favors Islam over other religions, noting it has a 36-page chapter on Islam but no chapters on Christianity or Judaism.

It declares that Muhammad is the ‘Messenger of God’ while stating, in contrast, that ‘some believed’ Jesus ‘was the messiah.’

It instructs students that jihad is a duty that Muslims must follow, Fox News reported last summer which Brevard Public Schools decided to keep the book amid protest..

‘Jihad may be interpreted as a holy war to defend Islam and the Muslim community, much like the Crusades to defend Christianity,’ the book states.

The News-Journal cited Armando Escalante of Port Orange, Fla., who at the Monday meeting called the book ‘ridiculously biased.’

SWNS – “Parents today slammed a school after children as young as eight were told they would be punished for RACISM if they did not attend a religious workshop – on ISLAM.

Angry mums and dads were sent a letter by Littleton Green Community School, in Huntingdon, Staffs., warning their children would be considered racist if they did not go on the school trip.

The visit to Staffordshire University – for Year 4 and Year 6 pupils – had been arranged as part of the children’s ‘cultural education’ on November 27.

Headteacher Lynn Small wrote to parents and said if kids did not attend a ‘racial discrimination note’ would be made on the pupil’s records and would remain there for their school careers.

On top of that, they were also ordered to pay £5 towards the cost of the trip.

Yesterday parents blasted the school’s ‘ludicrous’ threats and accused the school of trying to blackmail them.

Stacy Waldron, 26, who has an eight-year-old daughter at the school, said: ‘I feel my child will be racist if I don’t allow her to go.

‘This is my choice, not hers, and she shouldn’t have to pay for it.’

Mum-of-four Tracy Ward added: ‘I was shocked by the letter. To be told my kids have got to attend this workshop is disgusting.

‘Everyone should have a choice but that’s my opinion and I don’t want a stain on my kids’ record as a result.

‘They are not old enough to be called racist.’

Her sister Donna, whose daughter also attends the school, said: ‘It’s not our religion. We should have a right to stop our children going.’

Another parent Gillian Claridge, 55, added: ‘To be told we had to pay for the trip as well was just a kick in the teeth.

‘How dare they threaten to brand the children racist at such a young age. Its going to make them feel like little criminals.

‘The very nature of religion is all about choice – on this occasion they were not being given any choice at all.

‘It was draconian move and its left a lot of parents fuming.'” Read more.

By Pete Spotts, CSM – “An exploded star some 3.8 billion light-years away is forcing scientists to overhaul much of what they thought they knew about gamma-ray bursts – intense blasts of radiation triggered, in this case, by a star tens of times more massive than the sun that exhausted its nuclear fuel, exploded, then collapsed to form a black hole.

Last April, gamma rays from the blast struck detectors in gamma-ray observatories orbiting Earth, triggering a frenzy of space- and ground-based observations. Many of them fly in the face of explanations researchers have developed during the past 30 years for the processes driving the evolution of a burst from flash to fade out, according to four research papers appearing Friday in the journal Science.

‘Some of our theories are just going down the drain,’ said Charles Dermer, an astrophysicist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and a member of one of the teams reporting on their observations of the burst, known as GRB 130427A.

The event, dubbed a long-duration gamma-ray burst (GRB), is typically seen in the distant, early universe, Dr. Dermer said during a briefing Thursday. This one was much closer. And while typical long-duration bursts last from a few seconds to a few minutes, GRB 130427A put on its display for 20 hours.

The event’s duration, relatively close proximity, and the range of observatories in space and on the ground that could monitor it at a range of wavelengths has provided scientists with an unprecedented opportunity to explore the workings of one of the more extreme ends a star can inflict on itself.

The encouraging news: Traits seen in the gamma-ray emissions from initial burst through the afterglow compare favorably to the traits seen in the behavior of gamma rays in more-distant, long-duration bursts.

‘This suggests that GRBs in the contemporary universe and in the early, distant universe share a common central engine,’ Dermer said.” Read more.

Pamela Geller has excerpts:

I was already a jihadi [while in the UK] I understood I was on the jihadi path. Where it all began? It began from the book. And I read this and in there you see what jihad is about.I used to be scared of the word jihad, I once went to my sister when I was young I said to her, I saw it in the book and it said fighting. And my sister said to me jihad means what you have in your heart, what you did in your heart.

This is what I was taught. It wasn’t taught to me that Islam is peace and there’s no fighting.

It is peace but it requires fighting.

The duty of a Muslim is to love jihad.

One of the sayings of the prophet peace be upon him whoever does not go jihad or doesn’t even talk about it dies with the characteristic of of hypocrisy.

I am actually a Muslim following the way I should be.

By Mary Chastain, Breitbart – “In July, Christian teenager Hajja was picking corn in Gwoza, which is in the northeastern region of Nigeria, when the radical Muslim terrorist group Boko Haram, who control that region, kidnapped her. One of the men held a knife to her throat and told her he would kill her if she did not convert to Islam.

Reuters interviewed Hajja on November 6, 2013 and reported the terrorist group is now kidnapping Christian women and force them to be slave brides for their fighters. The group’s name means ‘Western education is forbidden’ and wants to make Nigeria an Islamic state. They slaughter anyone associated with the West or Christianity. The United States finally designated them a terrorist group on Wednesday. Michael Yohanna, a councilor in Gwoza’s local government, said there are many teenagers like Hajja held captive by Boko Haram.

The three months Hajja spent as the slave of a 14-strong guerrilla unit, cooking and cleaning for them before she escaped, give a rare glimpse into how the Islamists have changed tack in the face of Nigerian military pressure.”I can’t sleep when I think of being there,” the 19-year-old told Reuters, recounting forced mountain marches, rebel intelligence gathering – and watching her captors slit the throats of prisoners Hajja had helped lure into a trap.

A man called Ibrahim Tada Nglayike led the group Hajja was with. On one mission, Hajja was sent to stand in a field near a village to attract the attention of civilians working with the army. When five men approached her, they were ambushed.

“They took them back to a cave and tied them up. They cut their throats, one at a time,” Hajja said. “I thought my heart would burst out of my chest, because I was the bait.”

Among those who did the killing was the Muslim wife of the leader Nglayike, the only other woman in the band of fighters.

The Nigerian government, with help from the locals, set off an offensive in May and pushed the group to the Mandara mountains, which run along the Cameroon border. They took her to the mountains and slept in the caves.

She ceremonially converted to Islam, cooked for the men, carried ammunition during an attack on a police outpost and was about to be married to one of the insurgents before she managed to engineer a dramatic escape. She says she was not raped.”If I cried, they beat me. If I spoke, they beat me. They told me I must become a Muslim but I refused again and again,” Hajja told Reuters in an interview. Her family name is withheld to protect relatives still living in the Gwoza area.

“They were about to slaughter me and one of them begged me not to resist and just before I had my throat slit I relented. They put a veil on me and made me read from the Koran,” she said in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, where she is now living.

She told Reuters the men were armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols and would constantly move during the day to avoid being seen. They did use phones but listened to the BBC and Voice of America on a radio. The men would cheer when the journalists spoke about Boko Haram attacks.” Read more.

By Reza Kahlili, The Daily Caller – “As the world’s 5+1 powers resumed nuclear negotiations with Iran in Geneva on Wednesday, supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei attacked Israel and the U.S., saying the Islamic regime is using those negotiations as a gimmick to get stronger.

Khamenei, in a speech to thousands of commanders of the Basij militia, which has been suppressing millions of Iranians seeking freedom from the mullahs’ rule, referred to the negotiations and said: ‘Some have translated [Iran’s] ‘heroic flexibility’ [in] stepping back from goals and values of the Islamic regime [to achieve a nuclear settlement] and some enemies based on this have claimed retreat by the Islamic Republic.’

However, Khamenei said, that is a ‘misunderstanding.’

‘The ‘heroic flexibility’ means an artistic maneuver and the use of different tactics to reach different goals and ideals of the Islamic regime,’ he said. Stalling tactics for more than a decade have allowed Iran to greatly enhance its nuclear capability, allowing to mobilize as a fully-armed nuclear nation within weeks.

Khamenei had previously supported the negotiations by the regime’s new government under President Hassan Rouhani and talked of ‘heroic flexibility,’ implying that the regime will give up some ability of its nuclear program.

However, as the Daily Caller previously reported, the Iranian delegate demanded U.S. and Western recognition of Iran’s right to nuclear enrichment and the removal of major sanctions on its banking and oil industries, which have paralyzed the Islamic regime’s economy. In return, Iran offered only to stop its uranium enrichment at the 20 percent level, a level that is much higher than needed for peaceful purposes.

‘The holy Quran necessitates this decree for all prophets, faithful and the ordinary people where all of us must answer in the face of our covenant to God,’ Khamenei said. ‘[B]ased on the clear decree in the Quran, this covenant [is] to stand against the enemy in the fronts of military, political and economy and also not back down from the enemy.’

Khamenei called Israel a ‘rabid dog,’ ‘unclean,’ ‘illegitimate’ and ‘a bastard.’

‘The Zionist regime is destined to destruction, because this miserable regime was imposed [on the Middle East] based upon force, and no imposed phenomenon can last,’ he said.” Read more.
