By Courtney Trenwith, Arabian Business – “Saudi Arabia’s Justice Minister has defended tough Sharia punishments such as beheading, cutting off hands and lashing, claiming they ‘cannot be changed’ because they are enshrined in Islamic law.

‘These punishments are based on divine religious texts and we cannot change them,’ Mohammed Al Eissa reportedly said during a recent speech in Washington.

The minister said Islamic law had helped to reduce crime in the conservative kingdom.

Capital punishment was carried out in many other countries, including the US, and was not isolated to Islamic states, he said.

He said lashings were only given to those convicted of serious crimes related to ‘honour’, while Sharia – or Islamic – law did not approve of cutting off the hands of suspected thieves.

‘Islam sympathises with the victim, not the criminal,’ Al Eissa said.

‘Islam is a religion of wisdom that calls for dialogue with other religious faiths and peaceful coexistence with other communities. [Edit ICA: Then why is there not one single Christian church in all of Saudi Arabia?]

 By JTA – “French police are looking into reports that a gang of youths tasered a Jewish teenager in central Paris.

The National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism, or BNVCA, said it had contacted police based on reports in French Jewish media of the alleged assault, which according to the news site Alliance.fr happened on Tuesday on Paris’ iconic Place de La Republique square.

According to the report, a group of six black teenagers used an electric taser on a Jewish boy identified by Alliancefr.com only by his first name, Raphael. He was wearing a kippah and tzitzit and was attacked for his Jewish appearance in an apparent anti-Semitic assault, Alliancefr reported.

A passerby intervened and the gang left the scene before police could apprehend them, according to the news website. One of the gang members was armed with a club.

The report came amid a series of anti-Semitic incidents in the Paris area, including two beatings in Creteil last month and a similar incident in Sarcelles.

On Monday, Stars of David were spray-painted on several houses belonging to Jews in Gradignan near Bordeaux in southwestern France, the news site alyaexpress-news.com reported.

‘Anti-Semitic incidents are an almost daily occurrence in France,’ BNVCA President Sammy Ghozlan told JTA. ‘They are becoming more frequent and whereas the targets used to be synagogues, now there are more physical assaults on people: Young religious Jews.’

Ghozlan noted the current string of incidents could be a resurgence of anti-Semitic violence in the wake of the murder of four people on May 24 at the Jewish Museum of Belgium in central Brussels. Belgian and French authorities suspect the shooter was a 29-year-old jihadist.

‘After every major act of violence committed recently, we’ve felt an increase in attacks, including the 2012 Toulouse attack,’ Ghozlan said in reference to the murder of three children and a rabbi at a Jewish school by a Muslim radical. ‘Sadly, these murders inspire the admirers of the killers to imitate their actions.'” Read more.

As a result, today 350,000 of Sweden’s population of 9.5 million are Muslims. On a recent visit to Sweden, this Muslim author saw that the Swedes’ welcoming and tolerance have been abused by many Muslims. They respond to Sweden’s kindness by seeking to Islamize the place.

According to a 2007 report by the Open Society Institute, the Muslim population of Sweden is estimated at between 250,000 and 400,000, representing between 1.8% and 4.4% of the Sweden’s population.

In Uppsala, the fourth-largest city in Sweden and the seat of Archbishop of the Church of Sweden, a Swedish activist complained that the Muslim-dominated areas in Uppsala were ‘full of fundamentalists who are out of control… even the Swedish police fear going there because many Arab and Muslim youth will attack them with rocks. Even providers of Swedish state services are afraid to operate in the Muslim and Arab areas in Uppsala.’

A local police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity — noting that he was not speaking in the name of the authorities — confirmed what the activist said. ‘Police cars that approach Arab and Muslim areas are regularly attacked with rocks,’ he said. ‘At the moment, local Swedish authorities are not sure how to keep providing public services in those areas. They are even considering rolling back certain state services there. It is just too risky to operate in such a hostile environment. A few residents of the Arab-Muslim areas in Uppsala describe their neighborhoods as ‘Sharia areas where Sweden’s government is not welcome.’

Another police officer said, ‘We think of them [the Muslims] as Swedes, all are equal under the law, this is how we do things in Sweden. We would never judge the majority by the actions of few, there are many great Muslims we deal with… but we still cannot understand why many Muslims in this town hate us so much? We have never done anything bad to them!’

A local businessman in Uppsala, said, ‘I just feel sad for the insults we get from many Arabs and Muslims in this town. We consider them Swedes; they consider us enemies. We are doing our job, we are protecting them, and we will never fail them or look down on them, why are we received with such hostility?’

In Stockholm, while wearing my usual Palestinian keffiyeh headscarf, I went to the Jewish neighborhood and took a lengthy stroll there. No one gave me a bad look; one young man asked to take a photo with me.

This incident made me wonder: Would a Jew wearing a skullcap be tolerated if he entered an Arab or Muslim-dominated area in Sweden?” Read more.

By Gil Rone, INN – “Two Jewish teenagers told police they narrowly escaped an attack near Paris by a hatchet-wielding man and three others. The incident occurred last week and was reported by JTA.

The attack occurred late at night on the holiday of Shavuot (June 4), in Romainville, a northeastern suburb of the French capital, according to the National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism, or BNVCA.

The teens, aged 14 and 15, said they were walking to the Lilac Synagogue with their grandfather to attend Tikkun Leil Shavuot, a custom in which scripture is studied all night. While crossing the town’s Market Square, the two boys and their grandfather, all wearing kippahs, said they were followed by a tall man in his 20s wearing a long beard. They described him as having an athletic figure and an Arab appearance.

Producing a hatchet, the man began to chase the two boys, according to the BNVCA report, then whistled to three other men who joined the chase. The boys and their grandfather filed complaints with police, BNVCA President Sammy Ghozlan wrote…” Read more.

In an effort to entice Jewish and Christian converts to Islam, Islam’s “prophet” incorporated a twisted mix of Jewish and Christian teachings with the existing Babylonian religion of Arabia early in his campaign to gain adherents to his “new” monotheistic Arab religion (formerly polytheistic), even going so far as to claim that “Allah” was the same god that Jews and Christians worshiped. The two friends were wearing kippot when they were sprayed with tear gas at the corner of Pierre Koenig and Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny streets on Saturday night. The entire attack was captured by a video surveillance system.

The Bureau National de Vigilance contre l’Antisémitisme condemned the ‘new anti-Semitic aggression in Sarcelles perpetrated by a pack of North African origin youths aged eight to 17, who attacked two young Jews wearing kippot and sprayed tear gas over them.’

Mayor François Pupponi said the ‘anti-Semitic character of the attack has not been established,’ adding that it had aroused emotions in the municipality of some 60,000 people.

‘Together with the police, we [if anything] overreacted, considering the current climate,’ the mayor said.

Sarcelles has large North African communities, both Jewish and Muslim, is nicknamed ‘Little Jerusalem,’ and has the largest concentration of kosher establishments and Jewish schools and institutions in the region, as well as poor and crime-ridden neighborhoods.

After the recent attacks on Jews at the Jewish Museum in Brussels (four dead) and in Créteil, southeast of Paris (two Jews beaten), security has been reinforced around Jewish institutions across France and Belgium.” Source – The Jerusalem Post.

The Algemeiner – “The mother of two Jewish brothers, who are recovering after being severely beaten on Saturday night outside of a Paris synagogue, told The Algemeiner on Thursday that her family isn’t fearful.

‘We are not afraid, we are not scared and we’re going to get back on our feet and stay strong,’ said the mother, who asked to remain anonymous. ‘We don’t want to give the feeling to people that we feel weak or anything. However, we are worried, we are concerned about what’s going on.’

‘The fact is that the climate is very bad, very scary, and that there is an increase in small or verbal attacks currently and recently,’ she said.

‘Although it’s very sad that we had to go through this and experience this, we know that G0d is protecting us and watching over us, and we need to focus on how to progress, and how to move forward and continue to do what we have to do.’

Her sons, aged 18 and 21, were heading to Chaare Tsion Synaogue, in Créteil, when they were beaten with brass knuckles by two attackers who later fled on foot and by bicycle. The brothers suffered multiple contusions and were hospitalized in serious, but not life-threatening, condition.

The youngest testified anonymously on BFM TV, saying, ‘We were trying to walk down the street with our kippot [skullcaps]. Two Maghreb [men] [ICA: North Africa, ie, Muslim men] came and beat us. They started by my brother with brass knuckles, scarred him all over the face and beat me.’

Their mother said she was ‘very troubled and very much overwhelmed’ when she first heard about the brutal assault her sons faced in Créteil, home to one of the biggest Jewish communities in Paris. She is now hoping to find a positive aspect to their painful experience that may benefit the rest of the Jewish community. ‘I’m trying to strengthen myself by saying there must be something good that will come out of this for the Jewish people,’ she said.” Read more.

A Turkish man is charged with electrocuting his wife as punishment for giving birth to a girl while on the phone to police who failed to avert the crime, media reported Friday, according to AFP.

The 29-year-old from southeastern Diyarbakir province does not deny murdering his wife by placing a live electric cable under her chin as she slept, a day after their second baby girl was born in January, the report said.

The Turkish Vatan newspaper published on its front page a transcript of a telephone call the man placed to police in which he announced his murderous intent, in real time.

“I killed someone,” the man told the police operator, according to the transcript.

“Who did you kill?” asked the officer on the other end.

“I am killing my wife right now,” said the man.

“Did you kill her or are you killing her?” the officer asked.

“Well, she isn’t dead yet. But I am killing her if the murder is halal (permissible in Islam),” the man replied.

A defense lawyer told the court at a hearing Wednesday that his client killed his wife because she gave birth to “a girl once again”.
