By Ari Yashar, INN – “A former Hamas government spokesman revealed on Sunday that Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has said in private meetings he is lying in public statements to ‘trick the Americans.’

The spokesman, Ihab al-Ghussein, wrote on Facebook that ‘behind closed doors,’ Abbas had said ‘when I go out and say that the government is my government and it recognizes ‘Israel’ and so on, fine – these words are meant to trick the Americans.’ Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) translated the Facebook post.

‘Guys, let me (continue) saying what I say to the media. Those words are meant for the Americans and the occupation (i.e., Israel), not for you. What’s important is what we agree on among ourselves. …Don’t harp on everything I tell the media, forget about the statements in the media,’ Abbas told Hamas, according to Ihab al-Ghussein.

PMW exposed that Al-Ghussein then laughs at Abbas in the post, adding ‘I really do want real reconciliation, meaning partnership and achieving unity, but not reconciliation as Abbas means it.’

Al-Ghussein held his position as Hamas government spokesman until the new unity government between Hamas and Fatah was sworn in last Monday.

Abbas has insisted to the US that the new unity government would be controlled by him, and be based on what he called ‘the four Palestinian principles’: recognizing Israel, recognizing the terms of international agreements, and the explicit rejection of violence and terrorism.

Apparently his statements worked: the American administration said last Monday that it would ‘work with’ the new unity government, claiming it did not include Hamas members.

Despite the claim, three Hamas-backed ministers were sworn in to the unity government from Gaza via video feed. Further, Hamas continues to be adamant over its full control of the government, and said it would be subject to their approval before being established.” Read more.

By David Williams, Mail Online – “Gunmen disguised as police guards attacked a terminal at Pakistan’s busiest airport on Sunday with machine guns and a rocket launcher during a five-hour siege that left 27 people dead as explosions echoed into the night.

The Pakistani Taliban, an alliance of insurgent groups fighting to topple the government and set up a sharia state, later claimed responsibility, saying it was in response to army attacks along the Afghan border.

The attack on the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, began late Sunday and continued on into the dawn hours of Monday, although officials said all the passengers had been evacuated.

The Pakistani Taliban said they carried out the attack in response to air strikes in their strongholds near the Afghan border and suggested their mission was to hijack a passenger plane.

‘The main goal of this attack was to damage the government, including by hijacking planes and destroying state installations,’ said Shahidullah Shahid, a Taliban spokesman.

‘This was just an example of what we are capable of and there is more to come. The government should be ready for even worse attacks.’

Rizwan Akhtar, the chief of Pakistan’s elite paramilitary Rangers, said some of the attackers appeared to be Uzbeks but officials were still investigating to determine their identity and nationality.

‘The terrorists entered the terminal in two groups. They were foreigners, and some of them seemed to be Uzbeks.’

During the course of the attack, heavy gunfire and multiple explosions could be heard coming from the terminal, used for VIP flights and cargo, as militants and security forces battled for control.

A major fire rose from the airport, illuminating the night sky in an orange glow as the silhouettes of jets could be seen. The deadly operation was carried out by 10 militants, said the Chief Minister of Sindh province, Qaim Ali Shah.

‘They were well trained. Their plan was very well thought out,’ he told reporters. He said they intended to destroy some of the aircraft and buildings.” Read more.

Epidemic Outbreak Looms Over Nigeria Because Of Dead Bodies Littering Villages

The Nigerian Voice – “An alarm has been raised about a looming epidemic outbreak in Borno State over the decaying remains of victims of recent Boko Haram attacks still lying in the open in some parts of the state. The alarm was raised Sunday by the district head of one of the wards under Boko Haram siege, Lawan John, who is now seeking refuge in Maiduguri.

The village head, who spoke with journalists on the ordeal of his people, after a meeting of stakeholders of affected areas in Gwoza Local Government of the state held in Maiduguri, said 109 persons had so far been buried since the attacks.

‘Corpses still littered our villages because we didn’t have access to the villages as the insurgents were still hanging around,’ he said, lamenting that none of the people of the area who had since fled could summon enough confidence to go back and bury some of the dead bodies still lying in the open.

John said many of the villagers were still trapped in the mountains and hills without food to eat for over five days.

‘They rely on people from Pogu village who go there to give them food, and right now there is no food left in the village,’ he said, adding that in some of the villages, the Boko Haram gunmen were still on rampage, shooting anybody who attempted to descend from the mountain.

In the same vein, another residents of the area who craved anonymity said the littering remains of the victims of the recent attacks would have decomposed and there could be epidemic if the whole area is not fumigated .

‘They (insurgents) kill our people and they won’t allow us to give them proper burial, their corpses are made to lie on the road which is not befitting of even a dead animal,’ he said.

Not fewer than 1,000 persons were displaced within the last one week following the Boko Haram attacks on villages in Gwoza Local Government Area. The member, representing Southern Borno district in the National Assembly, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who called the meeting of the stakeholders of the area in Maiduguri, lamented that his people had been made to go through untold hardship by recent attack as over 1,000 persons were displaced and several properties lost.

Ndume disclosed that the killings and burning of property were still continuing in some of the villages, including Gavva, Agapalagu, Chikide, Dushwale, Ngoshe and Ashigashiya.” Read more.

By Jonathan Petre, Mail Online – “New laws aimed at reducing the suffering of millions of chickens in abattoirs have been put on hold by the Government after Muslims complained they would undermine their rights to slaughter the birds according to Islamic rituals.

To the dismay of animal welfare groups, the laws were unexpectedly delayed just days before they were due to be implemented last month.

Senior vets and campaigners said that the delay was ‘outrageous’ and some have now threatened to report ministers to the European Commission for failing to implement  the EU-wide rules.

They would have forced many abattoirs to use a more powerful electric shock than they do now to stun chickens before they are killed.

The move follows research that suggests that many birds are still conscious and suffer pain when they are slaughtered, but that higher levels of shock would guarantee they were insensible.

However, Muslim leaders said that the new levels could kill birds before they could be slaughtered, meaning they would no longer be halal.
According to Islamic rituals, the birds have to be alive when their throats are slit so their hearts are still pumping and their blood is properly drained.

Halal producers had been planning a judicial review to try to prevent the Government implementing the new laws after the Halal Food Authority, which certifies abattoirs that follow the correct rituals, warned they may be forced to abandon all pre-stunning of chickens.
The Department for Environment halted the new Welfare Of Animals At The Time Of Killing rules on May 19.

A spokesman said last night: ‘We realised that our regulations might have unintended consequences in that they could limit religious freedoms.” Read more.

Canada: Muslim Man Viciously Attacks 13-Year-Old Ontario Boy With Hammer

The attacker was apparently acting strangely in recent days and aimlessly pacing up and down his street for hours at a time, according to a CBC News report. No word on whether or not he was hearing voices in his head like many other violent Muslim attackers, but having “violent vocal outbursts even when no one is around” certainly suggests it …

By Joel Boyce, Windsor Star – “A Windsor man has been charged with attempted murder after a 13-year-old boy was seriously injured in a hammer attack.

Rafid Jihad, 28, was arrested shortly after the incident at a house on Church Street between Erie Street West and Pine Street Friday.

Windsor police Const. Matt D’Asti said the boy was transferred to a London hospital with multiple skull fractures.

‘He’s stable and he’s going to have surgery in London,’ said Staff Sgt. Jeff Mailloux reporting the update he’d received at 8 p.m. Friday.

D’Asti  said witnesses told police the victim was walking past the house when the attack occurred.

A neighbour, whose adult son witnessed the attack, said there was no reason for it. ‘He’s a very quiet boy. I feel bad, the poor kid,’ she said of the victim.

She and a male neighbour who spoke to The Star did not want to be identified because they are concerned about their safety.

The male neighbour said the man threw the boy on the road and hit him multiple times in the hand, chest and head. The boy got up and walked to his home on the same street after the attack, the neighbour said.

After the attack, he said he heard the man yell, ‘What is wrong with the people in this world?’

The female neighbour said the man was sitting in front of his house with his hands on his head after the attack. When the police arrived, he stood up and surrendered without incident.

The male neighbour said he called the police last week when the 28-year-old was spotted walking up and down the street holding a hammer behind his back.

‘He has violent vocal outbursts even when no one is around,’ he said.” Read more.

By Nicolai Sennels, Jihad Watch – “A couple of days ago, a young man was severely wounded in Gothenburg’s 22nd shooting this year. Last year, Gothenburg, a major Swedish city, had 60 shootings, mainly in Muslim-dominated areas. Via 10news.dk, translated from Avpixlat:

At 15:30 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, police tried to take action against a gang of youths in the immigrant-dominated neighborhood of Araby in Växjö. The youths reacted by kicking and punching the police. More youths arrived to the site and attempted to free the young people arrested.

The police were forced to call reinforcement and it required 10-12 policemen to disperse the violent mob. They were also forced to use pepper spray to get some of the young people to calm down. Four teenage youths were arrested on suspicion of including rioting, assaulting a police officer, threat to officer and assisting escape.

Christian Pastors Tortured, Sentenced To Death In Muslim Qatar

It’s a good thing that Qatar, a Western ally, is one of the more liberal Muslim nations in the Middle East, otherwise they’d be torturing Christian pastors and handing out death senten … hey wait a minute …

By Daniel Greenfield, FrontPage Mag – “Qatar is the totalitarian state behind Al Jazeera. It is closely entangled with Al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorist groups which is why Obama used it to arrange the Bergdahl deal.

This story is also a reminder of why non-Muslims and foreigners should be wary of traveling to Qatar.

The ambassador of the Philippines to Qatar told Al Arabiya News on Friday that there are allegations of torture against three Filipinos being held in the Gulf state on espionage charges.

One man was sentenced to death and two to life in in prison this week after they were indicted of leaking information that could threaten the tiny rich state’s national security.

“All allegations of torture were relayed to Qatari officials, such as the Minister of Interior, the Attorney General and the Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, all of whom promised to look into the matter,” the ambassador said.

He noted that the torture allegations were also raised in the lower court by the defense lawyer, “who argued that, in view of torture, their confessions were obtained involuntarily.”

“However, the court did not appreciate said fact,” Ambassador Relacion said.

According to the Qatari authorities, the Filipino pastors were spying on its military. Considering that that the Philippines and Qatar don’t exactly share a border or common military concerns and that Qatar’s military largely consists of princelings smuggling American weapons to Jihadists, that’s not a terribly convincing claim.

The Doha News said the three were charged of providing information “to intelligence officials in the Philippines about Qatar’s aircrafts, weaponry, maintenance and servicing records, as well as specific details about the names, ranks and phone numbers of staff members.”

The main defendant, the report said, allegedly received millions of riyals in exchange for spying services.

“He’s also alleged to have provided maps, internal reports and classified information about the Qatari Air Force base to Filipino officials, as well as recruiting the other two defendants, who worked in the engineering department of the first man’s company and were technicians at the air force base,” the report said.

This is the type of information that the UAE or the Saudis might be interested, not the Philippines.

Death Sentence For Converting To Christianity: Sudan Case Is The “Tip Of The Iceberg” On Islamic Persecution

By Raymond Ibrahim, CBN News – “Evidence has again emerged indicting that if Western mainstream media actually reported more on the sufferings of Christians throughout the Islamic world, their lot would likely improve.

Meriam Ibrahim, a woman who is imprisoned in Sudan and sentenced to death on the charge that she apostatized from Islam and converted to Christianity — and who recently gave birth to a baby girl in prison — was reportedly going to ‘be freed in a few days,’ according to a BBC report:

Abdullahi Alzareg, an under-secretary at the foreign ministry, said Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting the woman.

Khartoum has been facing international condemnation over the death sentence.

In an interview with The Times newspaper, British Prime Minister David Cameron described the ruling as “barbaric” and out of step with today’s world (emphasis added).

Of course, soon after the BBC reported that Ibrahim would be freed, other reports appeared indicating that that is only a rumor — one that the BBC, which regularly tries to minimize the specter of Muslim persecution of Christians, jumped on — that Sudan was merely trying to save face before the international community.

According to the imprisoned Christian woman’s husband: ‘No Sudanese or foreign mediator contacted me. Maybe there are contacts between the Sudanese government and foreign sides that I’m not aware of.’

At any rate, why did Sudan say Ibrahim was going to be released? After all and despite what Sudan’s under-secretary says — that ‘Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting the woman’ — Khartoum’s Islamist government upholds Islam’s apostasy law, which actually guarantees that born Muslims do not have ‘religious freedom.’

As just one example, back in June 2012 in Sudan, a Muslim woman divorced her husband after he converted to Christianity. The court automatically granted her custody of their two sons (according to Islamic law, children of divorced parents are to remain with the father, but if the latter is an apostate, they go to the mother). This Sunday (June 8), the near-Earth asteroid 2014 HQ124 — which some observers have nicknamed ‘The Beast’ — will give the planet a relatively close shave, coming within 777,000 miles (1.25 million kilometers) at its closest approach, or about 3.25 times the distance from Earth to the moon.

There is no chance of an impact on this pass, researchers stress. But at 1,100 feet (335 meters) wide, 2014 HQ124 could do some serious damage if it slammed into us.

‘This one would definitely be catastrophic if it hit the Earth,’ asteroid impact expert Mark Boslough, of Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico, said Thursday (June 5) during a webcast produced by the online Slooh community observatory that previewed 2014 HQ124’s upcoming flyby.

‘If it hit a city, it would definitely wipe out an entire metropolitan area,’ Boslough added.

Asteroid 2014 HQ124 is currently traveling about 31,000 mph (50,000 km/h) relative to Earth, Boslough said. But if the asteroid were on a collision course, our planet’s gravity would boost its speed up to about 40,000 mph (64,000 km/h) at the time of impact.

If 2014 HQ124 is one solid piece of rock — its composition isn’t known for certain — the strike would unleash an explosion with a yield of about 2,000 megatons, Boslough added. For comparison, the atomic bomb the United States dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima during World War II packed about 15 kilotons. (One megaton is equivalent to 1,000 kilotons.)

‘You’d end up with a crater about 3 miles across,’ Boslough added. ‘An event like that would break windows over 100 kilometers away.’

Asteroid 2014 HQ124 was discovered on April 23, just six weeks ago — not nearly enough time to deflect the asteroid if it were on a collision course with Earth.” Read more.

German Intelligence: Islamism Is Growing, Poses One Of The Greatest Threats To Germany’s National Security

By Soeren Kern, Gatestone Institute – “Salafism is the fastest growing Islamist movement in Germany, and Salafist jihadists pose one of the greatest threats to national security, according to a new German intelligence report.

The annual report — known in German as the Verfasungsschutzbericht Niedersachsen 2013 — focuses on threats to the democratic order in the northwestern German state of Lower Saxony, home to a sizeable Muslim community.

The 196-page document was prepared by the Lower Saxony branch of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), and was made public by Boris Pistorius, the Interior Minister of Lower Saxony, at a special press conference held in the city of Hannover on May 25.

Despite its regional focus, the report provides a wealth of information about the rise of radical Islam in Germany as a whole.

Most notably, the document reveals that membership in Islamic extremist groups in Germany rose to 43,185 in 2013, up from 42,550 in 2012. It also states that the number of Salafists in Germany rose to 5,500 in 2013, up from 4,500 in 2012, and 3,800 in 2011.

Although Salafists make up only a fraction of the estimated 4.3 million Muslims in Germany, authorities are increasingly concerned that most of those attracted to Salafi ideology are impressionable young Muslims who are susceptible to perpetrating terrorist acts in the name of Islam.

Salafists—who trace their roots to Saudi Arabia and glorify an idealized version of what they believe was the original Islam practiced in the 7th and 8th centuries—openly state that they want to replace democracy in Germany (and the rest of the world) with an Islamic government based on sharia law.

Salafist ideology posits that sharia law is superior to all secular laws because it comes from Allah, the only legitimate lawgiver, and thus is legally binding for all of humanity. According to the Salafist worldview, democracy is an effort to elevate the will of human beings above the will of Allah. As such, participation in the democratic process is polytheism (shirk in Arabic) and must be rejected.” Read more.
